So the reason I ask is that I want an excuse to use those wicked models, but I'm not all that interested in playing Daemonhunters. One of the thoughts I came up with was a Word Bearers killteam - with all their existing iconography and a little Chaos-ification, they'd make some sweet Word Bearers.

I was curious what "Mark" their armor was. It's definately not Mk.VI or Mk.VII, but not quite Mk.VIII either. I was hoping I was looking in the wrong direction -- that it would be pre- or during-Heresy armor, in which case the coincidence would be too good and I'd have to do it. whee

Fluffwise, the Daemon Hunters are so steadfast in thier Imperial devotion that they cannot be turned to Chaos. When one dies, he is buried on Titan, Jupiter's Moon, with his armour.
You can use them as allies with a Guard or Space marine force if you want.

Dose the shrouding effect non-greyknight models?

No, it does not. It is specifically listed under the rules for Grey Knights. Imperial Storm Troopers, Inquisitors, Assassins, etc, are not Grey Knights, and therefore do not benefit from any of their rules.

What about their dreads and tanks?

Perhaps I'm not explaining this right. I don't care about Daemonhunters. I'm well aware that the Grey Knights have the honor of being the only Chapter that has never lost a marine to Chaos corruption.

I want an excuse to use the Grey Knight models in a capacity entirely unrelated to Grey Knights, because they happen to be wicked cool. If the armor was pre-heresy (as it is definately NOT current Marine fare(VI,VII,VIII), but come very well be even newer), then it would be a short stretch to make them Word Bearers (or any other chaos for that matter). I'm likely going to it anyway, I was just hoping for clever coincidence.

Let me rephrase my original question (although I'm assuming no one knows since they haven't spoken up with it yet):
What Mark power armor do the Grey Knights wear?

VII I believe; more of just a guess though.

Whatever other Marines use.
The only difference is cosmetic, in the trinkets and stuff of faith.

But I mentioned that on the last page.

Right, I'm sorry, my only concern is the cosmetic. Just as there's no difference between Mk.VI Corvax ("Beakie") and Mk.VII Imperator (standard) Marine power armor, or even Mk.V Heresy (Chaos-style) armor, but a player might prefer one over the other for his army, or might go out of his way to collect or custom-build a specific mark for his Chapter/Legion. xd (In fact, many Rogue Trader-era players specifically seek out "beakie" heads for nostalgic purposes.)

Having done some research, however, the model armor they are using is unspecified and heretofore unseen. One can assume it was crafted specifically for use by the Grey Knights. No matter, it'll be mine soon enough anyhow. whee

Of course, by "soon enough" I mean "no less than one year from now". rofl

Don't forget to take off ALL the icons and stuff for the Emperor's faith.

It might be cheaper if buy the bodies online and use Chaos Space Marine arms and shoulder pads.

Actually, that's why Word Bearers came to mind first - they're decked out in purity seals, books, and swords. I shouldn't have to remove much of anything, and with the additional of a Legion symbol (possibly by carving out the "inside" of the shoulder pad) and some Chaos undivided iconography and perhaps the teensiest bit of mutation.

I'll likely still purchase a chunk of Word Bearer shoulder pads online, though. I have an order queued up already for when I get back home. lol

Hrm, possibly! I'll look that up. I'm actually just getting the normal power armor Grey Knights, but the similarities between their power and termie armor are not small. Good call!

For the record, it is not the Grey Knight's armor that gives them the benefits of the shrouding, however it is their faith.
Why this produces no benefits towards Dreadnoughts I'm not sure, perhaps to to large to get "enshrouded," however I'm not sure.
