Wassail!
I am Angus (a pseudonym) and I go into the Occult/Psionics/"Magic" when I was I think...10, officially I mean. Ever since I could read I have been interested in ESP and TK and which what, though I never really studied that too much. Now I follow the Crooked Path which is a tradition of Witchcraft. So far it has been very interesting and thankfully not at ALL like Wica (no offense to any of the Wica here).
Uhhh...I have been doing a lot of Trance Work lately with great response, I hope to be taking flight soon. The book I am reading I can really pull a lot from because it gives multiple ways on doing things based on how you learn (Aurally, Kinesthetically, Visual). It has been a great help in my "magical" practices.
I know a lot of random information on the occult and I am absolutely fascinated with the Goetia and Goetic demons of the Lesser Key of Solomon. I wouldn't summon any of them but knowing about them and knowing their sigils is just power in itself I think.
That's all really. If you have any questions or would just like to drop me a line swing by my profile!
FFF, Angus

Hm...calling yourself Isis is a bit...Rude I find. It is rather presumptuous to call yourself by the name of one of the gods, don't you think? Just my two cents, take it how you will.

And who am I to say he's wrong?

It's called an avatar, and millions of people worship Jesus Christ everyday. Really not that out of the ordinary. Oh, there's also Krishna.

And for that matter, there are several stories of the ancient gods (Apollo comes to mind at the moment) who for one reason or another had to live as a human for a certain time, or chose to. As the one mentioned would tell you, he certainly doesn't ask for or expect worship while living as a human...

DrasBrisingr Plus, I mean...one of our mods believes he is the reincarnation of Maahes (that's right, isn't it, Blkie? or is it something else? I can never remember). And who am I to say he's wrong? Yes ^_^. Angus of the Crooked Way Hm...calling yourself Isis is a bit...Rude I find. It is rather presumptuous to call yourself by the name of one of the gods, don't you think? Not really. If Isis believe she is the incarnation of THE Isis then it's completely fine, if not, well you know what they say "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". It only bothers me when I see someone going around with my name when I also wanted to use it for a certain site...*coughsgaiacoughs*. Although, on the subject of worshipping humans, another member of our adminship is a god, and has a scholar-priest as well as a small cult. We're really quite the diverse cast.

I'm so back it hurts. D: I doubt anyone remembers me, as I've been on hiatus because of stuff. But I might as well give a brief about myself. Name's Terg. I'm learned in philosophy, psychology, some occult topics, and am a practicing philosochologist. If anyone should need a philosochologist, they can contact me for all their philosochological needs. yay me.

Hey, I'm Con. Since I'm not really sure what to put I'll leave it at that. there isn't much I bring to the table because my knowledge is limited, but I'm hoping to fix that over time. I guess you'll just have to learn about me throughout the threads.

Oh, am I glad I found this group! I was in another Witchy/Magickal guild that said it prided itself on being open-minded and easygoing... So I jumped right in, chatted with people, was really having a good time... Until I mentioned that I consider myself to be a Hedge-witch, and why. Then a handful of people jumped down my throat and said, "Actually, THAT's not what makes a Hedge-witch! So you aren't one!"
And from then on, anything I posted was generally followed with, "Actually, it's supposed to be thus-and-such." And I thought, "What gives? Where's this open-mindedness you guys keep raving about?"
Just reading through some of these threads, I've seen so many different things presented and so many people giving honest feedback, it's like, FINALLY I can just get responses to my questions, and find others who get what I'm trying to say, rather than being badgered because my definition of the path I follow doesn't follow someone else's Witchcraft for Dummies textbook line-for-line.
This is exciting! =D

Aloha all, I figured I should give you guys some idea of my background so that you know where my future posts may be coming from. *laugh*
First off, I'm -way- old by Gaia standards, 33. *shrug* It doesn't bother me, and I hope it doesn't bother any of you. I live in Hawai'i and have since '06; before that, I spent thirteen years in Southern California. The first 18 years of my life previous to that were spent mostly in Illinois.
Secondly, my primary field of magical practice is hoodoo (aka conjure or rootwork.) Note that I am not Black and I didn't learn -any- of what I know from family or community sources; Catherine Yronwode and her staggeringly immense and scrupulously scholarly Lucky Mojo site have been my primary school. (luckymojo.com) I have been studying hoodoo on and off for about five years and consider myself reasonably well versed in it for a lay practitioner. I participated in the hoodoo rootwork correspondence course when it was initially run; however, I still have yet to graduate because I have never sent the actual homeworks in, despite working conjure otherwise. Perhaps being a member of this forum'll encourage me to get off my rear and do it.
I grew up in a very conservative small town in rural northern Illinois and did not even hear of anything like real-life magical practice until I was 18 and had moved to Southern California. That was in 1994. I began magical study nearly immediately and have pursued it ever since.
In the mid 90s I considered myself Wiccan. I knew of no other magic using/nature based spiritual paths, and all the information easily available at that time led anyone to believe that you were Wiccan if you wanted to be, that the term was loose and fluid and applied to pretty much anyone who worshipped a Goddess and a God. I fault Llwellyn sharply for the poor quality of information available in those years and still hold a grudge against them for the craptasticness of their output - they would print anything by anybody regardless of its quality. I have not considered myself Wiccan for probably ... ten years. I recognize that actual, real Wica is emphatically not the spiritual path for me.
At any rate, these days my spirituality and magical path is a grand melange of various Native American practices, various Buddhist systems, hoodoo, a good dose of remaining neopagan influence and some Mexican folk magic/santos thrown in for good measure (not to be confused with santeria.) I realize that what I do is regarded as toe-curlingly politically incorrect by some, but I no longer give a flying ******** what others judge as 'correct' and 'right' or not.
I am mostly a ladyhearted worker, though I -will- do 'gray' work such as bindings if the situation calls for it; I've done only two binding spells in my life, in fact, one of which was performed on the evening of September 11th, 2001 in response to the attacks. I do cleansings, readings, and some magic work for friends though I feel something of a draw to become an actual practitioner for the larger community.
