A hand in the chest. It stopped her in her tracks.
Lt Vegemite heard the shriek from the Corrupt beside her, turned as best she could with the fire raging through her nerves, sparking spot-fires in her consciousness. The magic must have got her too. We are sisters in this torment, she thought, but the reaching arm was not for support.
It was a different quality of pain. A lightning that exploded through her chest, sending shockwaves through the parts that the fire hadn’t reached yet.
This was all wrong. Senshi couldn't give promotions. Could they?
"But you're-" she began, words pushed out through a haze of agony as she stared at Cyllene, the enemies forgotten.
Ambition and anger and fear were all stripped away, torn right out. The spaces filled up with new agony, a deep, sucking wound, then just as quickly that was gone too, leaving her empty as a plastic jar.
Lt Vegemite’s eyes remained open long enough that the last light she saw was of the starseed she coveted. She’s just never thought her own would be forfeit.

Gevaudan, knight of Ganymeade - Just going to take a fiver on the ground. He's fine. Seriously. Just needs a little second to collect himself.
The smile that broken on Gevaudan's face when his weapon hit Laurelite in the face was like seeing a child make the slam dunk he had been practicing for weeks. It was perfect, and when he saw the weapon leave, he knew that for a second, at least no one was going to cut down their valuable numbers. He didn't even bother going for the weapon, despite how beautiful and deadly it was, because he knew weapons could always be dismissed and summoned to their owner. He doubted it would be useful against her or that Laurelite would allow that type of disgrace of her own weapon being used against her.
Instead, he made a motion to hit her, but Ganymeade held out her crystal and he saw a collection of energy and people cluster about her. Then the princess looked at him, and while he moved back to give the princess a clear shot, he was also confused.
What did she –
As the attack was called out, he felt it. A sudden sharp heat beat and he curled in, gripping his chest and he gasped out. His cold complexion from blood loose mixed with the dwindling adrenaline he had was overcome with a boiling fire that rushed through him like a fever at the peak of breaking. His eyes watered as if the water inside was boiling, and he felt as if his insides would just crack his skin and spill out. The bloodied field before his feet skewed and then tilted violently in a sharp vertigo before he dropped to his knees and curled down, placing his brow against the ground and gritting his teeth so tightly he felt they would snap off his jaw.
But like all magic, the timer was there. Despite what felt like an eternity of him wilting, of him twisting and turning and sweating, the thudding of his racing heart beating loud in his ears, it started to die and with it he relaxed and started to take deep mouthfuls of air in hopes he would cool again. He had been running on fumes, hope, and fear to get to the portal. Now, thanks to the attack, he had nothing left. Placing his hands down, he stayed there doubled over as he knelt, trying to just keep himself conscious. He had no idea what the attack had meant, though he looked around to see only other NEgaverse officers recovering. The other side had not, even those in Ganymeade's proximity.
Why?
Was it because he had once been Chaos?
Whatever the reason, he really was going to take a step back next time Ganymeade ever used that attack.

With his lieutenants blessedly engaged - at least, hopefully - it left Aurostibite free to do as he wished. Out of range of the princess's attack, he calmly waited it out; it would, of course, be temporary, and he watched with an unfazed expression as the rest around him began to drop. The sound of screaming and shrieking tore through the air, but all that showed in Aurostibite's face was a brief flicker of annoyance.
And when it was over, he moved, the winged blades in his hands whistling through the air as he lunged for the first Order member he saw - a glittering gold and red knight whose color of uniform was the wrong shade of red.
It needed a little more scarlet added to it, preferably in the blood colored shade.
He was following along beside Aegir, Mont Blonc, and Ash; but Thrymr moved as though in a daze, his heart in his throat. He'd let go of Aegir sometime in the past few minutes, resisting a childish desire to reach for him again, to reach for Mont Blonc, or even Ash whom he did not know particularly well, but whom he would have attempted to seek comfort from anyway.
It was loud. He was desperate to get away, to run, to go home, to be anywhere possible except for where he was right this moment.
Thrymr stumbled over something. He glanced down, saw a body, and felt sick, his breath leaving him in one shattered second, and he staggered, a small sound escaping him, a noise of desperation, because hadn't he done that? He'd killed someone, he'd -
His head rose, and somehow, he'd separated from the others. Somehow, he'd slowed, and he caught sight of Aegir's blond head moving rapidly away. Thrymr tried to follow, and his eyes flickered across the expanse of space -
- and fell on the man again, in the dark hood, the scythe in his hand.

Sailor Subamara, Senshi of Coffee
Subamara lifted her arm to wave back at Athene, but hissed as her youma-damaged shoulder protested at the motion. She bit her lip and kept moving through the battle. It suddenly became a whole lot easier when the princess cast some kind of magic, flooring bad guys left and right. Whatever it was, it looked like it was leaving them in a whole lot of pain, and she didn’t have much objection at this point. With the lessened threat of attack, she quickly made it to Athene and Ananke’s position.
“Are you hurt?” she asked Ananke, because the flame-haired girl looked so worried.
And then, “Are you hurt?” she demanded of Athene, because she strongly suspected her friend would downplay any injuries he’d taken if he wasn’t pestered about them.
Not that there was much she could do for either right now, if they were.
“Going is good, I’m all for it!” She nodded at Athene’s explanation and plan. But… the princess had affected their side too? She hadn’t felt anything. Subamara took another look around, actually looking at those on the ground instead of just dodging them. Oh geez, how many? That was less good. Right, helping the injured. Two-step plan now, totally doable.
“So we’re going to make a break for it? Like, right now? Okay, bunch up, guys,” she touched Ananke’s shoulder, and beckoned to Athene’s group as they came closer.
“I’ll give us a bit of an alertness boost?” she said, looking to Athene to give the okay before she set off her magic. She wasn’t great at getting the timing right.

Sailor Ananke, Senshi of Portals- Probably just ruined the seriousness of this battle
Ananke nodded at Subamara and Athene "I'm alright... and oh yes we should definitely all get out of here asap... We've been here a long time so I don't think the portal is going to stay open for much longer." Ananke was huddled close to everyone as Subamara used her attack.
"Wow... everyone has such cool abilities. I mean my powers can't really do anything on their own... oh right not the time." Ananke looked around.
"Um I have a terrible sense of direction... if only I could sense portals like I can make them... but anyway I'd like to hold someone's hand or something..." Ananke had a serious look on her face.
"No joke! I've gotten separated from two groups of people."
Oberon let out a cheer when it seems as though Banananite ended up slipping on his own banana peel and didn't get back up. Good. That meant there was one less officer to deal with.
"Good job on those attacks," he said with a thumbs up to both Ambrosia and Oort, knowing how it felt to be a chibi senshi with minimal magic. Perdita seemed to be holding her own as well. And of course, the only other normal powered senshi with them was Chara and he was just being Chara.
If they hadn't managed to push back as many youma and Negaverse officers as they had already, the rest would have surely been crumpled by Ganymede's attack. Oberon watched with only mild relief when several their officers in the area fell to Ganymede's attack. Their screams of pain would not be something he'd like to revisit in his dreams, but they needed to get to the door.
"Perdita!" he called to her, still wielding his mop and pointing towards the way they'd originally come in. "You think now's our chance??" Because if anytime was a good time, it was probably then.
But as he was scoping out the direction they would go, the super senshi caught sight of Laurelite attacking again. Had Ganymede's magic not affected her??
What could potentially be more dangerous than her scythe, Laurelite had grabbed hold of a senshi and threw her on the ground, her hand in her chest.
Oberon felt his heart stop as his eyes widened in horror. "Harmonia," he breathed in shock, still close enough to Perdita and the others to potentially hear. Perdita would know Harmonia. They fought together on that youma train.
It didn't take long for his shock to give way to anger and desperation. "Leave her alone!" he screamed at the General Queen, his maturing voice cracking under the strain. Mop in hand, he swung it at Laurelite once he got close enough. It wasn't necessarily his intention to hit her, but to get her to get away from Harmonia, hopefully by disgusting her with the floppy, twisted spongy fabric being brandished in her face. "Leave her alone!" he shouted again, eyes wide with fear for what would become of her.
"I need help! Please!" Oberon cried and looked around him. Ganymede was close, but would she have any energy left after her attack to help? The outspoken prince, Castor, was trying to lure Laurelite to him, which was better than nothing. Babylon was close too, and even though Oberon didn't agree with his tactics, he knew the other should... hopefully know how to help.
"Please," he begged Babylon and Ganymede, still holding out his mop as though that would keep Laurelite at bay. He knew very well the risk of being cut in half with her scythe, but he thought being corrupted would be worse.

Harmonia, Super Senshi of Harmony - Being corrupted by Laurelite!
It happened so fast. Harmonia didn’t even have time to react before she felt the harsh grip of the General Queen’s hand around her throat. Eyes widened in surprise as her hands shot up to try and pull away the grip that was constricting her air flow. The starseeds she had been so careful with fell to the ground in their make-shift sack. Panic rose in her at Laurelite's words and all she could think was that she was about to die right there gutted by the scythe the woman wielded, or choked to death.
The press of fingers grew stronger and Harmonia tried desperately to claw herself free. Next thing she knew she was thrown onto the ground, her back protesting the amount of force used, and the little bit of air that had still been in her lungs was forced out.
Then, the hand was gone from her throat and the super senshi sucked in air. She didn’t even have time to ponder the General Queens words before she felt the hand slam into her chest. The world around her seemed to disappear in that moment as agony quickly engulfed her senses. This wasn’t suppose to happen! The one thing she had been terrified of happening was occurring and she had no way to stop it!
Tears flowed from her eyes which were shut from the pain. Her body arched upwards as screams erupted from her. It was so painful! So, so painful! How anyone managed to survive this was beyond the young senshi. All she wanted at that moment was for it all to just end! Still, she did her best to fight the chaos that was being mercilessly pumped into her but it was beginning to feel like a loosing battle as more and more began to taint her starseed.
Screams of pain continued to escape the senshi, past a throat that was quickly made raw from the abuse. There was no reaction when Oberon had moved in to help her. Harmonia had no clue that he was trying to stop Laurelite, and with a dirty mop none-the-less. Her world was nothing but pain and was growing tired from the exertion of fighting the general queen.
Her fuku, once pristine white, was beginning to grow dark in color. Harmonia was quickly loosing a battle she had no chance in winning on her own.

Havasu Falls, Squire of Pluto ---trying to pick up a grown man using just one hand… And failing
Hav was able to dust a few more small fry youma before his mad wore off enough that he could feel each kick jar his shoulder ever so slightly. He backed closer to the group and realized they had another addition. It was the knight from the academy, the one who had grabbed the code. “A part of the code.” He told Delphi when she asked what the knight was protecting. That stupid glowing ball was why he had a dislocated shoulder, no magic, and no girlfriend.
He wasn't watching the power play between the princess and the nega queen, instead he was focusing on the swarm of youma and officers still surrounding them. To his surprise though the officers started to collapse, something was done to them. He agreed with Delphi, this was a perfect time to make a run for it. “Let's get the hell out…”
His shout was cut off abruptly when the Mars knight collapsed as well. Vicious curses slipped through his mind as he knelt by the fallen knight’s side. What ever this magic was it was affecting the Mars knight but not Havasu… Or most of their group. Using his good arm he tried to leverage Kai off the ground, “come on… Come on… We have to go.” The pain was excruciating in his bad shoulder but it was worth it if they could all get out safely.

Super Varuna - Clearing the way for the chibi senshi group!
Varuna was waiting for the signal to attack, to cover those who stood in their way in snow. But the signal never came. Instead, Palatine moved to help the Saturn knight (Scholomance) and Kairatos moved off to help some others. Which was okay! Because they needed help! But now she was standing there, not really knowing what she needed to focus on. She didn't want to use her magic before it was needed. If she did, she might waste an important opportunity.
She let out a small cry of distress, and turned to see if anyone possibly needed help in getting out. Groups were either joining together or breaking apart, or heading towards Ganymede if they had supportive magic. Varuna knew her magic wasn't very supportive. She covered people in snow.
But then Ganymede seemed to use her magic, and one by one, the Negaverse officers fell to their knees or cried out in pain. This was their chance to make a break for the portal.
Her eyes caught sight of the small group of chibi senshi who had been valiantly fighting close by, and she made a gesture to them to try and escape while there was a clear path.
"Palatine!" she called to the knight in pink as she made her way over to the chibi senshi. She knew they could fight on their own and didn't want to insult them, but they needed to get out. "Please, follow me. I'll clear the path," she offered to them, taking a step away from the crumpled Negaverse officers. She held up her hands in front of her.
"Snow slip!" she called, snow appearing in front of them along their path to the portal. She pushed her hands out, causing the snow to roll forward, knocking as many youma and officers that were still affected by the magic as she could. "Watch your step!" It was going to be rather icy and slippery.
Valhalla nodded to Ganymede when she suggested he take Gevaudan and head towards the portal. He would certainly make sure the other knight was okay, but he wasn't going to force him out if he didn't want to go. He already knew that Ganymede had no intention of leaving, possibly exhausting all of her energy and end up dying that way. Valhalla wouldn't leave her, and while he was sure she would prefer he go, he couldn't.
The attack hit quicker than he expected. Both Gevaudan and Cyllene were immediately affected. He reached out to Gev, grabbing onto his shoulders to hold him steady. He seemed as though he was fighting with consciousness at this point. Probably because of the affects of being seriously injured in his fight with Apatite.
"It'll be over soon," Valhalla promised the knight, his own heart pounding in his chest. "Just breathe," he said, rubbing at Gev's back to try and get him to calm down. Valhalla had been hit by Ganymede's magic the night they fought Laurelite. His memory of that night was fuzzy, but he thought he could still remember the pain.
Cyllene was being hurt, too. Valhalla didn't think he could handle the sound of both their screams. He wanted to be in so many places at once. He wanted to make sure Gev was okay, but to also reach out to Cyllene. She'd... she'd just attacked a lieutenant; pulled out her starseed. Valhalla's eyes were wide with confusion and, dare he say it, hope. Not for the loss of life, but the fact that Cyllene was potentially risking herself to stop anyone from getting to Ganymede.
He wanted to call out to her, to let her know they were still there with her, but he couldn't risk the chance that she would not be able to escape with them. Or the chance that she would not want to leave.
Valhalla heard Benitoite’s voice nearby, and turned to see him covered in blood, and obviously affected by Ganymede's magic. But there was nothing he could do. He couldn’t run to his aide when he had Gevaudan to look after, and then Cyllene...
And then Laurelite was attacking again. Grabbing Harmonia and sticking her hand into her chest. "No!" Valhalla cried in shock and desperation. "Ganymede!" he called to his wife, looking back to her, knowing she must be completely exhausted at this point. There had to be a way to stop this.
Oberon was attacking Laurelite as well, or at least trying to push her away. Valhalla wanted to try and rush over to stop his brother from getting killed. If he had to grab him and pull him away, he would. There was no way a fifteen year old super senshi could take on Laurelite. But there was no time. Even if he left Gev there, he would never reach them in time.

Lieutenant Marcasite - Engaged with Myrrha
The punch to the gut connected and it brought a smirk to Marce's face as she stepped forward, into the space the senshi had put between them, and was jabbing again much like a boxer or mma fighter would. She'd taken her training sessions with Xenotime seriously, had spent much of her free time practicing the moves she'd been taught.
So she intended on testing them in this fight.
Well, that'd been her intention until --
A searing white-hot pain blossomed in her chest and she gasped in pain, staggering backward with her hand clutched to the front of her uniform. The hot, burning, bubbling feeling spreading through her entire frame and it was enough to bring her to her knees. Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes when her palms hit the ground and she clutched at it, struggling to remain upright before her body careened sideways and she was in the ground, curling into the fetal position trying to cope with the pain.

General Labyrinthite - Shifting through people
It had been the general's intention of striking down those that opposed them, because they were invaders and they needed to be punished but with the shifting tides of people from both sides, he'd moved further and further from the battle, where the princess stood. It had irritated him at first, because he was separated from his recruits more quickly than he intended, and he hadn't missed the way Aluminite had come flying across the crowd back towards them, but then the woman had produced her crystal and well --
He could not deny that he was grateful that he'd been on the outskirts of her range as eyes of liquid gold watched agents all around crumple beneath it's power. The sight made him clench his fists until his knuckles turned white around the bone staff of his scythe.
Magic always had a timer, so the general stood content to wait it out.
When it did, he was moving forward again, eyes darting this way and that. When his head turned, back towards the line of stone that led towards the castle, he spotted a senshi with white hair decorated in pink and gold stars. Their eyes had met on the battlefield prior, just before Apatite's death, and something within the man urged him forward.
He walked toward Thrymr with purpose, moved like a predator towards it's prey and he cocked his head, an almost questioning look on his face as he took in the man. "Senshi," he hissed, mouth beginning to twist into a darker grin. "You were in the castle. Come, let's talk," he said as he closed the distance, reaching for Thrymr's uniform.
Babylon Knight of Mercury - trying to rescue Harmonia!
Babylon had never seen a corruption before. He had no idea of the mechanics, or even, once started, it could be interrupted - but he could see Chaos creeping over Harmonia like a fast rot, the dark staining creeping up her uniform like an infected vein, and -- it was worth a try.
He lifted his hand from Ganymede's shoulder. The energy transfer had left him a good kind of tired, like finishing a really great run. He felt exhilarated - and ready to do something stupid.
He'd brought Harmonia over here. She'd trusted him and his experience to keep her safe. If Laurelite was successful in corrupting her, Babylon would have to wear that guilt for the rest of his life.
Maybe - maybe Ganymede could do what she'd done with Valhalla again. But first, Laurelite had to drop the senshi.
Babylon called his lantern to hand, its weight familiar. Oberon had called out to him, and while his first instinct was to call out some kind of confirmation, right now, surprise was his only advantage. Laurelite was focused on Harmonia and Oberon and all the others attacking her - could he get around back?
Babylon ran towards the general queen in a wide arc, looking for some gap in her defenses, some way past the scythe - and, when he thought he'd found the best chance he was going to get, charged, lantern swinging, hoping it would connect hard enough that Laurelite would drop Harmonia.
Or that it would connect at all.

Princess Ganymede
The attack weakened her considerably. If it hadn't been for Babylon's energy and Harmonia's boost, Ganymede was pretty sure that would have been it for her.
More people were being affected than she'd thought, though she'd known there would be a chance of that. She put the screaming as far out of her mind as she was able, but knowing how much pain she was causing Gev and Cyllene twisted her gut and made her feel so sick. She wanted to go to each of them in turn, apologize for what she'd done, soothe them as best she could, but she could not. She couldn't afford the distraction when Laurelite still posed such a great threat.
Cybele went down. Ganymede would have felt relieved that she saw Megrez in the crowd, but Megrez was also affected. Kairatos, too. Ganymede supposed she should have expected Kairatos at least, considering he'd once been a Negaverse officer. But she'd hoped. She was always hoping. Perhaps one day it wouldn't be in vain.
There were others using the opportunity to their advantage, as she'd intended. With agents and youma alike under the affects of her magic, the path to the portal should be easier to follow. She saw Athene trying to lead a group out, and Varuna corralling as many of the Chibi Senshi as she could.
Now was their best chance.
Ganymede could hardly move. Even if she'd wanted to make a break for the portal, she didn't think she would have made it.
She had no chance to try. Laurelite waited out the affects of her magic and began her slaughter anew. Senshi and knights fled from the scene. Some were not fortunate enough to make it very far.
Then Laurelite went for Harmonia.
“No!” Ganymede shouted.
She struggled forward, watching in horror as Oberon appeared to challenge Laurelite. With a mop.
“Oberon, get away!”
Ganymede stumbled again. She still had her crystal. All was not yet lost.
She heard Castor's voice over the screaming. For a moment, Ganymede closed her eyes and tried to contain her anger and revulsion. He had the nerve to appear now, when he'd done nothing to help any of them at the castle. Apatite was dead because of knights and Senshi lower in power than a Prince or Princess. Laurelite was (she hoped) weakened by another ragtag group, putting themselves in mortal danger all so their allies could make their way to the portal.
People, good people, had been injured or killed in the effort. They gave up their lives for the possibility of making it to Metallia, for the safety of their allies against one General Queen after another.
Their lives were worth more than that of a Prince who seemed not to care how many people fell around him.
Ganymede watched Babylon make a charge for Laurelite. They could do this, she told herself. Save Harmonia. Destroy Laurelite. There were enough of them there to make that a very real possibility.
And Castor happened to offer a good distration.
“Laurelite,” Ganymede wheezed. She drew closer to Harmonia. She did not care that she was putting herself in danger again. “Laurelite, hear that? Castor's calling for you. Do us all a favor and kill that pretentious p***k.”

Palatine, Squire of Venus
One by one, officers dropped to the ground.
Palatine needed no explanation. She saw Ganymede with her crystal, facing the General Queen as if she meant to sacrifice herself to allow the rest of them the chance to escape.
There was a very small part of Palatine that felt proud that Ganymede would put the lives and the survival of others before her own.
But that part of her was almost entirely drowned up by the fear that Ganymede would not live through this.
Palatine followed Sholomance and Centisima toward the group around the General Queen. Injured as he was, Scholomance should be one of the ones taking the opportunity to make his way toward the portal. He wasn't. Nor was his Senshi counterpart, and Palatine was grateful for that. They earned a great amount of respect from her, placing themselves in harms way as they were.
She heard Varuna's shout and looked over her shoulder to watch her niece attempt to lead a group of Chibi Senshi toward the portal.
“Run!” Palatine called.
Varuna was resourceful. Palatine had to believe that she would make it out.
Kairatos was down. The Code with him. That was a problem. They could not afford to lose the Code here. Others were moving in to assist him. They needed help and protection, and she could not give them that.
“Sess!” she made a pit stop at the Jupiter Knight. He was injured, but he looked to be in one piece, still capable of fighting agents and youma off. “Kairatos. Mars Knight. Has part of the Code. Help him. I'm going to Ganymede.”
