Briar decided to stick with chucking balloons for the moment as he seemed to have the most luck with them.
He moved across the field, in search of a new target since he’d hit the people around him a few times already and spotted a new target in another boy running up ahead.
Briar didn’t think he’d targeted the other before but that was easily rectified as he lobbed his balloon in the other boy’s direction.

After he'd finished washing his hands, Griffin looked at them. What had been the point of doing that? To get back some mojo that he'd plainly lost? There was no way that was going to happen. Excitement and hope had kept him going this long, but he was tired, and discouraged, and starting to regret ever joining this game. It was always safer to watch. Spectators didn't get hurt or embarrassed. They could have fun without putting everything on the line. That was what he liked to do.
Trying this had been a mistake. Now that his initial zeal had worn off, it was obvious.
A balloon rolled over to Griffin, stopping just short of his feet. He looked at it. Then, closing his eyes briefly, he turned and walked away, heading back for the benches. Playtime was over.

The kids on this side of the field were ones that Briar didn’t think he’d targeted much so he decided to stay on this side for a bit, after all targeting the same people time after time wasn’t fun – no that fell under just plain mean.
His next target was a girl chasing after a smaller girl and his balloon hit her squarely in the back. Mayhaps after a bit on this side he’d head back to the other side and see how Griffin was doing – his somewhat rival hadn’t targeted him in a while.

Akane was surprised by the contents of the next balloon. Confetti, confetti everywhere. She knew she had hit someone, but she couldn't tell whom. She just couldn't see through the obnoxious rainbow that was confetti. She had even got some all over herself. She had to've been looking like a sad, wet cupcake by now.
Actually, he'd skipped the towel altogether. A teacher had offered him one when he made it clear that he was retiring from the game, but he just shook his head and kept walking back to the bench. That was where he belonged: where he couldn't make any mistakes.
Except without mistakes, he couldn't have any triumphs either.
He shifted uncomfortably, his clothes squelching as he squirmed. He wasn't tired, not yet. There was still more that he could do. But he was afraid of being laughed at, of hurting himself, of failing to meet his own expectations. Dissatisfied and uncomfortable, Griffin turned away from the game, unable to watch his friends and classmates have fun when he wasn't capable of joining them.
Akane managed to brush most of the confetti off of her clothes, but her hair was a different matter. It had gotten all wet and sticky and eww. She had to pull it out bit by bit and she wasn't making any progress at all. She'd have to be careful next time she threw some confetti.
This time, she tossed a normal water balloon. It bounced on the ground a couple of times without hitting again. She sighed, frustrated.

After his latest tossed balloon had ended up exploding against a tree, Briar had gone looking for Griffin, doing his best to dodge projectiles tossed in his direction.
The balloons he'd found relatively easy to avoid, but he hadn't been so lucky with the confetti and a new amount of the icky stuff was clinging to his hair by the time he'd found his self-decided rival not on the fields like he might have still expected, but on the benches.
"Are you done playing?" he asked uncertainly, most likely looking ridiculous with his confetti tipped hair, soaked clothes with the 'artfully' adorned mud and scraps of confetti clinging to them - not to to mention the mud clinging to his legs.
He hope his rival wasn't done just yet - Briar was having fun thinking of ways of getting the other back in the tit for tat that they'd been involved in.

Marisha giggled as she was soaked this time. She was starting to care less and less about the dress her mother had put her in and more about the game by the minute. Scooping up another of the balloons off the wet, soggy ground she got into pitching position. She then made the wind up, and Pitched the balloon towards another unsuspecting victim. She then watched as it hit with a, "Strike three! Your outta here!" called out behind it.

Akane stretched and yawn. Fun could be tiring sometimes. Soon, she got her second wind and she headed towards Briar loaded with a water balloon. She ran past and tossed it at him. It definitely missed. "Awww..."
Akane grabbed a water balloon, squatted, jumped as high as she could, and threw it. The balloon went through the air and hit a random kid. She quite liked that. "Awesome!"

Marisha then quickly ran and slid on the mud. Scooping up another balloon as she skidded to her knees. Looking around it takes her a moment to catch her bearings. Once she does however she spots another nearby kid and throws. Grinning as it hits the kid she pumps her arm in the air.

Akane applauded for Marisha. "Not too shabby." she said as she nodded. A nice throw was a nice throw. There was no arguing about that. After the metaphorical fanfare was over, she scooped up a balloon and tossed it at the other girl. Then, she grinned and said, "I'm not half bad, myself."
And Trev was back to missing his people targets and traumatizing the local chipmunk population. But look at this this way. The chipmunks had probably never been so clean in their tiny little lives.
Ah, there he was. Trev, a.k.a., he who cleans chipmunks. Though, to be honest, that was a nickname Akane had just come up with. She tossed a water balloon at him, but it missed and hit a chipmunk instead. "Darn!"
