"By the way, when we are done, I'm taking you back because it is not safe. Don't argue with me." Meadow meant what she said. Then she straightened up in the her chair when Leila asked how was she. "One minute I'm fine, the next I'm sad, then I'm angry. Most of the time I don't feel anything and just drown myself in paperwork until I'm so tried I fall asleep right here in this chair. If you would not have been on the other side of the door, I would have cut my connection to Kieran. I almost cut my mark. There are some days I tell myself he will comeback and that there is no way he left me. Then, there was today. I was so tried of being in pain and misery, I was ready to end it. All my parents death has done is made everything three times worst on me. I have no more fight left. I'm living only because of this pack, but how long will it be before that can't even keep me alive?" Meadow picked up Kieran's dagger off the floor. "He gave it to me when he came to visit. I couldn't even look at him or say anything. I'm slipping farther and farther into a deep dark depression." Meadow fixed her now dull green eyes on a glowing Leila. "I'm so happy for you though. I can't believe I'm going to have a niece or nephew. You are my sister no matter what happens between me and Kieran. As long as I live, I will accept you with open arms. Would you like to eat something before I bring you back?" It was lunch time and Meadow knew the mother's were making lunch for the pack. So it wouldn't be a burden to make sure Leila ate.

"You are nothing but trouble. A dirt bike Leila?" Meadow giggled at her."I'll be by to visit in about two days maybe. My parents funeral is in about 3 days. I'll come cry on your shoulder." Meadow got out her chair and opened her arms for Leila to give her a departing hug."Remember go around the woods. I don't want nothing to happen to you."

Leila shrugged her shoulders. "I grew up riding dirt bikes...I know what I am doing." She waved away Meadow's words easily.
"I can come visit you. Kieran is visiting. You don't want to be around him..." Leila was thinking about Meadow's possible reaction to Ellie. She liked Meadow, but she knew Ellie forever. Ellie was family.

"You can't swim." Aaron replied and pointed to her cast. He smiled at her. "Do you want to just go into town?" He walked over to his night stand and grabbed his wallet, keys, and phone. He slipped the things into his pockets.

Leila stuck to the main roads. No short cuts or venturing into the woods. Just the usual paths so that she could avoid the traps. The ride back took a bit longer but it was fine with her. She was really enjoying the freedom and time alone. Of course she loved to be around her families but sometimes you just needed a bit of time to yourself.

When she made it back into Hunter's territory she turned of the bike and walked it back through the grounds and into the territory. She tried to be as quiet as she could though she was sure they had noticed her absence. She had been gone for about two hours after all.

"Sure. A carnival sounds fun. As long as you promise not to run off with the first carney that gives you an extra turn at a game." Aaron teased as the pair exited his room. They slipped out the front door right after Leila came in. Aaron could feel the cold air still coming off of her, and see how pink her cheeks were. He said nothing though. It was not his place to lecture or interrogate the Beta's wife.
"Let's get out of here. The house is about to get loud." He said as he hurried to his van.

Aaron chuckled at Daisy's response. He loved that she could comeback so easily. Naturally. She didn't have to think about whether he was joking, or try so hard to be witty. It was nice considering his past girlfriends. All beauty but no brains.
"I get it. I really do, but Leila has found herself in a position where she now had a status. Other Shifters that are too far gone or desperate enough could hurt her to get back at Jasper and Hunter. Those two have made enemies along the way to becoming Alphas of their own Pack. Also Leila has to be both strong, obedient and carry herself in a certain way. Others must see her and respect her in her role as Beta's Mate. She may be young but she no longer has the freedom to be wild and reckless. That is a luxury that is gone, especially now that she will be a Mother. The first female to marry into our new Pack, the first pup born into our Pack." Aaron paused.
"Jasper will handle her in private. The air may be tense in the house when we return but long as we don't cross the line we will be fine." He drove the rest of the way just enjoying the music that played.

Once at the carnival Aaron walked around to Daisy's side of the van, he opened the door and offered her his hand.
"This looks like fun. I have never been to a carnival." He admitted.
"My parents didn't think it was an activity for our kind. Or their wealth status." He looked back toward the mobbed carnival.

He followed her to the balloon dart game. He paid and watched her play. He sniffed the air then whipped his head around. His eyes widened as he saw the food stand.
"I am going to go get us some funnel cake, and deep fried Twinkies, and Cotton Candy, oh and Caramel Apples! I'll be back!" He disappeared and returned weighed down with food about ten minutes later. He could really eat. Their metabolisms tended to be faster, and Aaron was also very physically active. So the young man always seemed to be hungry!

Aaron smiled at Daisy. "Good for your brother, I personally love food!" He tore a piece of the funnel cake away and stuffed it in his mouth happily. He was not shy about his appetite or anything really. Aaron believed in living an open and honest life. He continued to eat thoroughly enjoying all the empty calories he was consuming. He didn't even notice that Daisy was hiding.
"The Twinkie good?" He asked once his mouth was empty again. Aaron liked a girl with a hearty appetite. He loved food and her loved the idea of dating a fellow foodie. It would make his life easier.
