Constance blinked when Merrick suddenly vanished. Where in the world had he gone? Suddenly she heard his voice behind her and she spun to face him. She grinned as she exited the room the rest of the way and made her way over to him. "That is a pretty neat trick. I like it." She stopped in front of him, her head tilted slightly to the side. "It seems we both have found new powers by accident. I have never opened a portal today. That was completely by accident." ------ "Aye," Mariamma said with a nod. "Humble and beautiful inside and out. All the coven leaders are. At least this generation is. Wait until you meet the others." Merida's cheeks flushed slightly but before she could somebody else did. "Oh Mariamma, we are just like anyone else," Amelia said as she followed Nala into the kitchen. "We thought we saw Merida coming down here and thought I would join her in getting a bite to eat. I hope you don't mind us intruding for a little while." "We are happy to have you," Mariamma said with a wide smile.

Merrick tilted his head as he shrugged. He lifted one hand before small arcs of electricity arced over and around his fingers and palm. "Trust me, I know what you mean," he said wryly, unaware that among witches, elemental manipulation was a rare and powerful talent.
Kaen Hobbs chuckled as he tilted his head. "It is certainly rare that those with more intriguing skils do not flaunt them," he said thoughtfully. He inhaled slowly, cocking his head with some confusion as his keener than average senses picked up the scent of a fox, which made him a little wary from past experience.

Constance stared at him, stunned, for a moment. "You..you can do that?" She asked as she watched the electricity move around his hand. It was a rare thing for anyone to have that kind of ability. Merrick was so much stronger than any had ever thought. Most people would be frightened by that, but she was intrigued and excited. "That is an amazing ability. To manipulate any of the elements..it's stunning. You have to be extremely powerful to be able to do that."~~~~~~ Nala walked over to Kaen Hobbs and sniffed at him, her whiskers twitching. She walked all around him, examining him from head to toe. "Nala, that is enough. Leave him alone," Amelia said with a laugh. Her head tilted to the side slightly. "Nala finds you very interesting Mr. Hobbs."

Merrick tilted his head, blinking with confusion. He wasn't sure what was do surprising about a little bit of electricity. He knew, however, that he seemed to have a strong affinity towards lightning and possibly water as well. He wondered just what else he could do with these talents. "Like I said before, it isn't the source of a power that matters sometimes, but how we choose to use the power we have that matters," he said with a chuckle.
Kaen Hobbs chuckled as he tilted his head. "I am not bothered by her interest at all, lass," he said with a slightly crooked smile. He wondered if the feline could tell that he was more than he appeared to be; the truth was, he was actually a near seven foot tall anthromorphic hedgehog.

Constance smiled and nodded as she held her hand out to him. "Come on, let's go and see that friend of yours. I am excited to meet him." And truly she was. It was fun to meet new people. Her eyes twinkled as she watched him, waiting for him to reply. ~~~~ "You may not be," Amelia said smoothly, "But Nala knows it's not polite to stick her nose where it doesn't belong." She chastised her familiar, but in a teasing and playful manner. Nala held her head high and mewed softly as she went to sit next to Amelia. The coven leader lowered her hand and scratched her familiar's head softly. Merida chuckled before taking a sip of her tea. She was glad that Amelia had shown up when she did. The other woman always seemed to know the right thing to say. Whenever someone mentioned beauty, especially in reference to herself, Merida got tongue tied.

Merrick stepped into the elevator with a chuckle, tilting his head, though he didn't really notice his fox ears twitching. "Agreed. I am sure he'll be surprised," he said with a laugh.
Kaen Hobbs shrugged his broad shoulders. "Meh, it isn't like we aren't all young and curious at some point," he said.

Constance got into the elevator with Merrick, leaning back against the wall as the door closed. Here they were again in a confined space. She would have preferred taking the stairs, but it seemed he wanted to take the elevator. "This friend of yours...how long have you known him?" She asked as she looked over at Merrick. ~~~~ Amelia chuckled and nodded. "That is very true." She took the offered cup from Mariamma, taking a sip of the delicious tea. "As great as always Mariamma, thank you." Nala mewed happily as some milk with a splash of honey was placed in front of her. She drank it daintily, keeping any from spilling anywhere.

Alede OOC - If you haven't noticed, Kaen Hobbs and the character introduced in this post are... different. They're also from a certain book series... which will be hinted at (strongly) in a couple of posts.
Merrick stepped into the elevator with a chuckle, tilting his head, though he didn't really notice his fox ears twitching. "I've known Hobbs for around three and a half years; he was the one who helped me learn how to make those cordials; I haven't seen him for a year or so, though," he said with a slight shrug.
Kaen Hobbs tilted his head with a half smile, amused. He had seen quite a few interesting things since coming here, the least of which was women like the duo in front of him.
Jess shifted her weight as she somersaulted and twisted, landing in a crouch on the loading dock; she stood 5' 9" tall and had silky reddish brown hair that fell just below her shoulders. She was lithe with muscle and agile on her feet. She was, by 'human' standards, inhumanly flexible and agile due to her true nature as a anthromorphic squirrel woman. The illusion flickered and settled around her to show lightly tanned skin and her naturally cheerful topaz eyes. "Looks like you have a few friends, Kaen," she said with amusement.

Kaosujin Ryu I did notice..and what book series? Constance grinned as she looked down and picked a fuzzy off of her white dress. She smiled a little when she looked back at him and saw his ears twitching. It was really cute. "And I can't wait to meet the one who taught you how to make those cordials. They were simply out of this world."~~~~ "Ah Jess," Mariamma said when she saw the young woman. "So good to see you. They come here every so often. This is Merida, leader of the Dark Coven and Amelia, leader of the Amaranth Coven."Nala sat up a little straighter as she stared at Jess. Her nose twitched as well as her mouth, slightly showing her fangs. Her head tilted to the side slightly for a moment before she went back to drinking her milk. "Nice to meet you," Amelia said with a small smile as she set down her tea cup. "Yes, a pleasure." Merida said as she stood up and went to the refrigerator. "So what goodies do you have in here Mariamma.""You should sit," Mariamma said sternly. "I will get you something."Merida turned and stuck her tongue out at Mariamma. "I am perfectly capable of getting my own food." She was one of the few who could stick her tongue out at Mariamma and get away with it. Mariamma looked like a kindly woman, but when she got angry boy did she get angry. "You know that you don't always have to wait on me."

Alede OOC - Hint; Hobbs was actually a minor character in one of them, but I found him memorable, hence why I slipped him into here.
Merrick smiled slightly, managing to keep from shivering as he smelled the pheromones in the air, though he noticed they weren't as quite as strong as before. "He has a talent for creating various drinks, like strawberry fizz from strained strawberries, cherries, and spring water," he said thoughtfully. He remembered the October Ale the guy had made; he had never revealed how he'd made it, but it was delicious.
Kaen Hobbs chuckled. "She's the kind of person who likes to help others, regardless of whether or not it helps her; I have known a few others like her," he said with amusement.
Jess laughed before she tilted her head slightly, an eyebrow rising when the cat looked up at her. "She reminds me of Old Methusulah," she said with amusement. She wasn't surprised at the former Cellarhog's chuckle, since they'd both known the old friend.

The elevator dinged, the doors opening as they reached the floor for the kitchen. "Hmm, sounds delicious," Constance said with a smile as she stepped from the elevator. She could hear several voices coming from the kitchen. She immediately recognized three of them. Mariamma, Merida and Amelia were all there. "Seems we weren't the only ones wanting to come down to the kitchen," she said with a chuckle. ~~~~~ Nala licked her lips as she finished the milk, her eyes gleaming. She rubbed her head against Amelia's leg, purring softly. She was content now. Amelia smiled as she scratched the top of the cat's head. "Ah, meat." Merida said with triumph as she pulled out some leftover meatloaf. She licked her lips a little as she set it on the counter. She hadn't realized how hungry she really was. "Want any, Amelia?""No thank you, Merida. I am good," Amelia said with a chuckle. Mariamma snatched the food away from Merida, glaring. "Go sit. I will get it.""Alright, alright!" Merida laughed as she held her hands up in surrender. "Don't have a hissy fit." She went back to her seat and sat down.

Merrick blinked as he heard a very familiar voice. "I'll be damned... she's here too," he said quietly, taking a few quick flowing strides towards the kitchen. He was somewhat surprised when Jess turned and suddenly leaped at him, hugging him tightly; he knew Constance would assume there was a romantic interest between them, but he looked at Jess like a sister rather than the way he looked at Constance herself.
Kaen cocked his head as Jess turned before she darted into the shadows before he heard her voice barely restraining laughter.
Jess heard soft footfalls before she half turned, her body unconsciously tensing before her eyes widened in surprise and pleasure. She took two quick steps and leaped, hugging Merrick tightly. "It's so great to see you again," she said with a laugh.

Constance had been following a few feet behind Merrick when a young woman suddenly leaped out at him, hugging him tightly. Her head tilted to the side slightly as she regarded the woman. She was pretty. Constance wondered if there had been something between the two before? Her right hand rubbed her left arm gently as she moved around them and went into the kitchen. She smiled when she saw Merida and Amelia sitting there as Mariamma moved around the kitchen. There was also another person there, someone she didn't recognize. Maybe this was the friend Merrick spoke of? "Hello," she said to him with a smile on her face. "Ah Constance! Just in time," Merida said as she conjured a seat next to her. "Mariamma is getting us some meatloaf.""Oh, no thanks. I am not hungry. I just had a piece of cake." Constance smiled as she took a seat next to Merida.

Alicia giggled as she looked out the window at the sunset; it was one of the few things she liked to do after school and homework.
Kasumi sighed as she dried herself off with a fluffy towel before she got dressed in the white tee shirt and jeans Merida had left behind for her. She tilted her head as she stepped out of the bathroom, tilting her head as her curly red hair hung around her shoulders, stopping midway down her back.
Merrick chuckled. "It's been a while, Jess. How have you been?" he said with amusement as he let her drop before she walked back into the kitchen though he cocked an eyebrow at her reply as he spotted his surrogate father figure, who grinned.
Kaen blinked before he snorted a laugh as he saw Merrick. Aye, lass, I'm his old friend," answering her unspoken question as he nodded a greeting to Constance.
Jess let her old friend and surrogate brother go before she turned and walked back towards the kitchen. "We decided to get a little time from the Abbey, though it is interesting here," she said with a laugh.

"It's nice to meet you. I am Constance.""Constance is the one who made the cake," Mariamma said as she walked past Kaen and set the plate of food in front of Merida. "I taught the young lady little...the rest she learned on her own.""Yeah, we keep telling her she is better than Gordon Ramsey, but she doesn't listen to us." Merida said as she took a bite from the meatloaf. Her eyes closed briefly as the different seasonings spread through her mouth, giving her great satisfaction. The food that Mariamma made was always so good. Constance blushed and shook her head. "And I still think all of you are crazy." She pushed her hair behind her shoulders.
