Maggie's eyes flicked around Alex's side to a boil who seemed to be pulling someone else into the group. She saw his lips moving, but only managed to hear "tussle". Great. If there was a fight, Maggie was next to useless, but she strongly hoped there wouldn't be.

Without realizing it, she pulled in closer to Alex as she tried to better listen to the conversation with the other new arrival. Maybe they knew what was going on, or what had caused the fog. It wasn't until one of her ears brushed Alex's arm when it twitched that she realized how close she really was. A bit embarrassed, she took a small step away. "Sorry", she muttered.

First years. A good portion of second years. Christof's head was spinning but he channeled it into tightening fists. They needed to be on guard, they needed to get the weaker students to safety, they needed to tend to Amrita, all the Tasks, all the Things To Be Done, all the-

He froze, face paling in patches as he turned back to Calder with a frantic series of gestures, "Where-is-Barth?"

They, the mist-like figures, statues looming, standing still, did not move, though the fog around them did, shifting, growing deeper, thicker.

The feeling of loss, of being incomplete, the strange agonizing feeling of never completely and quite feeling whole, of something over there called to the fog, called closer the select few truly lost to the Insanity, wrapping each tendril around them, practically enveloping them whole cocoon-like. All shred of logic and reason had been abandoned- there was only a single chiming voice that rang continuously with promise.

Home.

Again and again and again, the voice grew stronger, stronger, stronger, a sudden pang, all too painful of everything at once, hatred, loss, angerconfusionsadnesshappiness-

- And then nothing. The fog had disappeared and so had those it had called to. Only the figures, the original mist-like figures remained with the students unaffected. They stared one single direction.

Amityville.

No - not Amityville, something else. Something unexplainable, a lingering sensation only that this was not truly Amityville, that the greys were wrong and off, that this was a replica. That the real Amityville was behind the students and this strange replica, this fragment was just as unforgiving, as false as the looming figures staring into it.

Only when the fog-like figures began to march, mechanically, each of them moving into the same direction until they to dissolved into whites and trickled into the not-quite-Amityville that it was obviously clear where the the source of everything was.

Ahead lay fear. Ahead lay hesitation and uncertainty. Ahead lay possibilities that many students had a right to fear.

Or was there really nothing to fear but Fear itself?

THE ROAD LESS TRAVELED:

- Those truly lost to Insanity: You will be PMED. Otherwise follow the regular prompt below:
- Those unaffected: That's everyone else that has NOT been PMED. Read the prompt above part that affects you and then continue on below.
- All students have TWO CHOICES NOW:
- One is to turn back, and simply go back to the dorms, to the real Amityville. The second is to walk into the strange greyed out Amityville, the fragmented fogged version and follow the tendrils of fog. The fog is currently leading a very straight, linear path right into the gates of the greyed out Amityville, though everything inside is white. There is no way to see what exactly lies ahead.
- If you return to normal Amityville, you can simply rp normally in the main forum
- If you choose to follow the fog, go to THIS THREAD.

"Home."

It was a hiss from the mantodae, echoing the sounds in his head. A small part started to protest...but why? There was nothing else here to stay for, nothing that mattered. No one to hold him back. All there was was home. Home, home, home. Slowly numbness began to take over. Silent. The world turning grey around him, a voice, echoing in his head, pulling him forward, into the fog, always needing to move.

Home.

Shifting, fading, not really feeling anything anymore as he moved into the fog. Cocooned in white, barely noticing figures that were darker bits of grey, but not really seeing them. Going to the place he had not known he had wanted until he had seen it. Home. He had a home now.

Ash cradled Thackery's hand, pressing it close to his chest. Before, Thackery had been his anchor-- Brought him back from the brink and cooled him from the boiling point. All of that and more thanks to one cerberus who loved him so dearly.

He clutched the small hand, eyes blinking, still unseeing. Home called to him through the fog, in the mist.

"Thackery," Ash enunciated, voice sounding lost, his sanity not quite regained but closer, green eyes snapping to his figure. "R--"

His mind slipped away, and with it, the vestiges of his sanity. As piecemeal as it had been over the last few months, it was gone, much like it had been on the island.

But worse. His hearing and sight were replaced with white, blinding, defeaning. Ashford hissed an exhalation, the numbness replaced with but a single emotion: and he felt it in his teeth like the resounding beat of a drum.

Rage.

Home.

Rage.

The reaper's body transformed, the grey rippling outwards from his patches and swirling over pale skin, wrapping around the reaper's body like cling wrap. The colour drained out of his every extremity, and pieces of Ash's body started to disintegrate. Some of the pieces reformed into the helm, hiding his face from view.

The fog was he, and he was the fog. It embodied Ash, and he gave into it, powerless to its siren call, the relentless litany of home, home, home.

There was a great deal more to fear than fear itself.

Ashford, now a monstrous and mindless creature of the mist, ambled towards the alternate-Amityville, his movements stiff and nigh robotic in nature.

Deacon moved, at last. Toward the thickening fog, in the direction that he - they - had been staring in all this time. His ears perked forward, as though listening into the mist as he moved into it. Any protests from the trio near him would fall on deaf ears. They wouldn't stop him. They couldn't stop him. Why would they want to keep him from going where he was meant to go?

The caress of cool tendrils of fog wrapped around his limbs, but it wasn't until it enveloped him completely that the form of the demon within the gray mass of fog hesitated, a sudden shudder overtaking him as the cold claws of Insanity dug in, the strong voice in his head calling to him and drawing his consciousness into the endless gray void.

Eyes that had moments before been a warm amber were lost in a bright blue glow, mind and body succumbing to the calls from the mist and within his ruining mind. In silence he moved toward their destination...

Home...
They were going Home.

Mist twisted and turned and ate at those who had been inflicted with the disease before spiriting them away - off into some phantom of a hull that tried to parade as Amityville for them. But it was not. Yet it was also curious in a horrible way. Curious and her strange hungers made her yearn to follow after those who had already gone.

No need to twist her leg, however, as she was more than willing to follow after those who had already begun to head into the fog. She knew the fog, it was like an old horrible friend you kept trying to kick off of your couch and it kept coming back, that whore. Never the less, it was time to go.

There were answers to find and perhaps there would be a neck or three she could sink her teeth into. Because the hunger was starting to gnaw at her belly, and that wasn't just a hunger for FEAR either...

The fog was gone...

But everything was still far from normal.

The fluffy end of Xiu's tail had puffed out in alarm when she realized that the misty figures had not disappeared with the fog, her grip on Amphi's hand tightening ever so slightly. Careful not to lower her guard, the baku narrowed her pink eyes at the figures warily, tilting her head in confusion. Just what is it that they're looking at?

When she followed their gaze, her heart skipped a beat as a jolt of panic jumped through her. Why were they staring at Amityville? These figures didn't plan on attacking their school or anything, did they? There were still students in the dorms--students that had no idea about the impending danger, and--

Xiu froze, a frown suddenly tugging at her lips. No, wait a minute, something was wrong. As she stared up at the tall, gray building, she suddenly somehow knew that this was not actually their school. Although it looked similar, there were slight visual differences--color, for example--and it just felt off to her as well. Sure enough, a quick look over her shoulder confirmed that the real school was not the one in front of them, but the one behind them. As the figures disappeared into the fake Amityville, Xiu turned back to look at the group.

"I'm curious where that place leads to, but...I think I'm going to go back first." Xiu jerked her head in the direction of the Amityville behind them, and then frowned, "At the very least, I'd like to check up on a few things and prepare myself before jumping in. I doubt that this place will disappear anytime soon, so..."

So it was back to Amityville first, and then to exploring wherever it was that this fake Amityville led after. Xiu didn't know it yet, but the white fog that was settling itself in certain spots in Amityville would end up becoming her gateway from the real school to wherever it was the fake one led.

"What about you guys?" Her eyes swept over her friends, gaze pausing briefly on each of them before moving on to the next, "Will you be going back first, or...?"

Riyo was horrified. Trembling, as she watched the boil finally move forward. The wretched disease had finally taken him. Oh Jack, this was it. He was leaving and she would never see him again. She opened her mouth to speak, but the only sound that came out was air being released from her lungs. There was nothing she could say, really.

Her eyes dared not rip away from him as his figure started to fade into the fog. Was that boil still in there somewhere? Terrified at what his body did without his consent? Or was this... Was this really what he wanted?

No, what an absurd thought. Who would want to be stuck in such a grim state? Nobody asked for that. Nobody said, 'Oh yes please I want to be a gray walking sack of flesh devoid of any real emotion and warmth. Oh, and soulless blue eyes for the cherry on top.'

For a second, and just a second, she saw the form of her father instead of Deacon. Just... Walking away. Not saying a word. That's how she always imagined he left. 8| That was how all men left, yes?

So here she was. She could either A, follow him into her worst nightmares or B, go home, be miserable, and regret it for the rest of her life. At least A seemed like a quicker solution.

She glanced at Yuki for a moment, then turned forward and rushed to follow the disappearing bakeneko. "I don't care what you do, but I'm not letting this happen."

Even if she had to put him out of misery herself.

There...were so many. Too many. Her skin prickled and there were goosebumps all along her arms. Arms that had wrapped around her tightly before raising to cover her ears.

NO. Please...no...

LW shuddered, trying desperately to ignore the sensations she was feeling. So familiar and unwanted.

Jack, not again, please!

A step. Then another. A hand hesitantly reaching out before her mind could halt all actions. Someone called to her. More than one. None of them familiar but the feelings were so strong. It..wasn't right though. This was wrong! Something...was coming. Or...Jackdamnit, the she-wolf couldn't think straight! The uneasy feeling was driving her to the brink of her control. Every fiber of her being screamed to run. To go home.

Home?

Home... home was, where her brothers were. Her mother and father. No, not quite.

Home was with Ren.

Ren, where are you?!

A high pitched yelp of startlement escaped the she-wolf, successfully pulling her out of whatever state of 'sensation' had threatened to take her under. A hand had brushed her and then another grabbed her, pulling her close and she found herself gazing up at Belladonna and Mort. Dear sweet Jack, what was going on! This...she didn't like it. Didn't want to be here. And definitely didn't want to be alone.

Ren.

Mention of her boilfriend made her chest ache and breathing seem difficult. Yes. Yes she wanted to find him. Wanted to know he was alright. Feel his safe presence around her. But...that meant leaving the others.

"A-Are...you sure?" She looked to both the witch and zombie boil. Two friends. Then glanced around at the others that had gathered around. Her instincts warned her about venturing off on her own. Her heart, however, desperately needed it's other half.

"If...if I can't find him...I'll find you again." She promised before darting off in search of her boilfriend. She didn't really comprehend that the fog was lifting, heart pounding and only focused on one thing. One face. One-

LW froze her her tracks, suddenly disoriented and confused. That...that wasn't Amityville! Was it? No. No no no! It wasn't! It...it didn't fee right. Or..look right. She swallowed thickly, not knowing what to do. Some of the other students seemed to be heading towards the...not-Amityville-yet-strangely-similar structure. Maybe...maybe Ren was there? She felt uncertain of her choices. Of whether or not she should go home or...what?

By some strong form of luck, LW was saved from making that decision right away. But walking right into a familiar boil without seeing him as her mind had been so lost. She squeaked and then clung to his arm, having scared herself at suddenly running into Sparrow. Not quite the boil she had been seeking but a familiar face that also seemed to be alone.

Jacking good enough for her.

"S-Sparrow?" LW squeaked, trying not to tremble and let all those uneasy feelings take her again. "I...I don't like this. Not one Jacking bit."

Staying silent for most of the conversation, Astra looked on sadly, not sure what she could do and how she could help. But then things went from bad to worse, as Deacon suddenly changed. And holy jack did he change. The fairy's eyes grew large, watching the feline boil grew gigantic, she gripped onto Yuki's arm with concern. But thankfully Deacon appeared to be moving away. Into the building that had appeared. It looked like amityville...but it wasn't.

Riyo was quick to follow after Deacon, but she held back, still clutching onto Yuki. She was pretty sure bad things would happen, and she wasn't sure if she could protect Yuki. But sitll...to leave the students that way.

With a reluctant sigh, she followed Riyo

Taking down her own booth had been a boring and tedious task. Boxes where dragged out, a scareon was shooed away every time she attempted to sit in a box that was needed for storing trinkets, give aways, and supplies. For the most part she worked in silence debating what her fate running for president would be. The whole booth thing had gone... slowly to say the least and left a bitter taste in her mouth.

That taste was only going to grow more bitter.

Figures appeared a growing fog that chilled her to the core in a way only this fog could. Purple eyes flickered brighter as the fog rolled in dulling the colors of the world, the perverted wrongness of it all.

"Ixxy. Room, go." The scareon looked up giving one sad cry before scampering back, back to the school and reality. Looking around she caught glimpses of others, two students she didn't personally know changed, embraced by the fog and insanity. Another, Ash, the one Thackery was always with turned as well.

Her boxes lay forgotten, her booth half broken down. Steel tipped boots crushed the dirt with an oddly hollowed sound as she moved through the fog. Her left arm started to burn, purple flames trying to push back the grey.

Something was coming to Amity again, something bad, and Sammy would be damned if she wasn't one of the first ones to face it.

Amrita felt Christof shaking her, but she just didn't care enough to react. Her eyes remained glazed and unfocused on a spot in front of her as those around her spoke, but their voices were so distant she paid them no mind. Not even Calder's gentle hold of her face seemed to draw any reaction; she looked towards him yes, but not at him. No recognition. No matter who appeared near her, she didn't move, didn't flinch, didn't care.

But then something started calling for her, and her unfocused eyes shifted to try and spot the speaker. There was nobody, just the lingering tendrils of fog that reached for her, curling around her limbs and body. She shivered then, watching now as the colours in front of her bled and twisted until they blurred together into a pure white. The voice spoke up again, much louder this time; it was clear as day to her.

Home.

Zar arrived at the group just in time to see some of them shift and change, becoming one with the fog, as much as part of it as the shapeless figures that stood like statues in the fog. He wanted to speak, to ask what was happening, but once again those terrible wrenching emotions overcame him and took the very words from his lips before he could speak them. Just when it seemed almost unbearable, it subsided, leaving him dazed and drained.

But the feeling of wrongness was gone.

Gathering his scattered wits, he pulled himself together as best he could, reasserting organisation on the filing systems of his mind, tossing out the illogical thoughts, the illogical sights reclassified as mere hysteria on his part. Only when he was reoriented, when he was once again seated comfortably at the helm of his own thoughts, did he assess what to do next.

The world of grey, the not-Amityville begged exploration. Despite the apparent risks and dangers - weighted carefully in his mind, he was not afraid, the others who had succumbed to the fog and vanished were clearly lesser in their mental acuity than him. That was the only logical explanation that he could surmise.

Besides, there was something positively homey about the colourless world ahead.

With a shrug of his shoulders, the solitary demon boil wandered onwards.

Whatever Junko might have said in response to his suggestion they head back to the dorms was lost in the raising fear and unease that was bubbling up within the jikininki as the fog around them grew ever thicker until not even his glowing eyes could cut through the denseness. To so Seiji was uneasy was an understatement. Surely Junko could feel the tension raising up within the boil through the muscled arms he had wrapped around her, holding her against him tightly, almost too tightly. He wasn't going to risk loosing her in this mist, not like last time. Surely if he kept her against him, safely in his arms, she couldn't disappear on him and return as an illusion of herself.

Despite the complete lack of visibility the ghost was doing all in his power to watch out around them for anyone or anything that might approach. Shuffling a set every now and then as his head whipped around from side to side. There were few things the boil was truly scared of, but the maddening fog that had covered that island, along with it's effects, were one of them. There were other's of course, made obvious by the way he was almost clinging to his ghoul.

When the fog began to wane, and figures emerged from the mist ahead of them the boil tensed, shifting to turn his body so Junko was at his side rather then held in front of his body. An automatic move, and that was before he'd even glimpsed the eerie glow of there eyes or the tendrils of fog licking along their feet as it retreated behind them through the gates.. of..

"Is that Amity?" His voice was a little rough from tension as he asked. The greyed out outline in front of them certainly looked like their school, and yet.. It was different. The colors were off.

Then he glance behind him, and the site was enough to drain away some of the limited color the boil possessed. He nudged junko, indicating she look as well. "What should we do?" There, behind them, was the real Amityville.
