Rose looked up at him glaring slightly. "I am not a kid." She said softly as she shook her head. Giggling she looked back to her hands as she messed with her jacket. Thinking about something she looked up at him again and then quickly looked away blushing. Leaning back up she placed a small kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, for everything you have done for me." Rose said softly as she blushed looking at her hands.

xXxXx"I didn't think you were a kid. It is they who are the children needing to be coddled," the reddish-brown haired male chuckled lightly only for his expression to become serious when she kissed him on the cheek. Feeling his face heat up, Hibiki started twiddling his thumbs bashfully. It seemed so odd that he had developed feelings for another person seeing as he'd only cared about his job up until the past few days. At hearing her thanks, however, he gave a slight half-shrug. "Nyeh. It's nothin' special really... I'm nothin' all that special either. 'Sides, I should be thanking you for all you've done for me consider in' how accident prone I am. I'd more than likely be dead from blood loss in some hole with lifeless blue-grey eyes staring up into a dark gray sky, ashes still drifting down slowly from above... I owe you more than you realize."
Rose looked at him with a confused look. She then smiled softly, "It is my job to take care of people. But, you are different....it's hard to explain...I mean I feel like this pull to you." Rose looked at the ground with a soft blush spreading across her face. "You probably think I am crazy..." She said as she messed with her jacket again.

xXxXx"Mm... Nope. I don't think you're crazy. I'm actually in agreement with you. With everyone else, well, I'm pretty sure even you've seen how antisocial I get around them, but around you I can just talk and talk. I'm seriously waiting for you to just tell me to shut up already," Hibiki responded calmly while briefly shaking his head slightly. After a minute or so of being quiet, he gently took her hand in his and lightly rubbed his hand against the back of her hand. "I'm not that great with words, y'know? So I rely on the music from before the world came to be so dark, but people don't always understand it. You seem to understand some of it, but not all of it so I was thinking of another way to say what's on the inside and ended up in one solution that my dumbass self could come up with. If, um... If I scare you or anything, feel free to slap me or whatever..." Feeling as if he'd given enough time for a warning, he briefly leaned over in front of Rose and gently brushed his lips over hers. Sure, he was embarrassed to expose his feelings like this, but he wanted her to know that he liked her even if she was slightly older and even if their leader disapproved of it. If he was going to marry and procreate, it was going to be with who he liked not who he was deemed to like.
Rose gasped and slowly kissed him back softly. A blush spred across her face as she looked up at him. Smiling she looked into his eyes and then looked at her hands. "W...what are we going to do....?" Rose asked as she referred to the problem with him being engaged. "I can't just sit back and watch them make you marry someone....I...can't...." She said as she thought about what happened when his sister when she was at the hospital.

Name:Laya Danvers
Age:12
Sex:Female
Personality:Laya is very quiet and often times to her self, but this doesn't make her unfriendly. She likes meeting new people and will show them kindness if they do the same for her. She tends to observe from afar to gather information on people or things that might be handy later on in life. As for her temper... She can overall control her anger, but hasn't mastered it. There are tantrums that slip out every so often. Despite her age, her mentality is that comparable to a sixteen or seventeen year old. Growing up in a post apocalyptic town tends to make one more mature for their age after all. Survival of the fittest in a manner of speaking.
Background:Laya lives by herself with her pet frog, Ned, in the remains of a worn out, rusted over, tank. All she has ever known was destruction and darkness. The sun, to her, did not exist. It was just a fairy tale. It only existed in story books. Her parents are still alive, but she was separated from them in a flurry of people one day. Everyone was scrambling, and she did not know why. Lost and alone... She came across someone or, rather, something: Ned. Together they do whatever it takes to survive. Stealing food and necessary items just to name a few. Laya hopes to, one day, reunite with her family if they are still alive.
Pressing her palm into the ground, she scooped up a hand full of ash. That's all there ever was... Ash. Who knew what this dust could have been. A nice set of furniture, the used to be forest, or... An actual person. A subtle breeze blew some of the burnt up remains into the wind as she dropped the rest. The world was but a wasteland for as far as the eye could see. A sigh escaped her lips as she looked up at the tank's hatch. Ned was perched up there letting out croaks and ribbits. She smiled softly and approached the armored skirt of the hunk of rusted metal."How about we go scavenge for some things, Ned. Sound good?"She asked her amphibious friend as he tilted his head slightly in reply. Laya giggled and twirled around resting her back against the tank. She closed her chocolate eyes and began to plot. She needed more food. It seemed as though that was a must when she had to go pick pocket strangers.
Laya slipped her hand under her green hoodie. Her fingers traced over rib indention and the sunken flesh just below her diaphragm. Opening her eyes slightly, she yanked her hoodie back down and looked towards the ash covered sky. Ned abruptly hopped on her shoulder and let out a loud croak as if to reassure her that they would be okay. She slid her forefinger along his side."You always know just what to say."She laughed.
As strange as it was... Ned the frog gave poor little Laya hope. He was the only thing she cherished in her life. The only thing that gave her a reason to live. The only friend she had and probably will ever have.
Dusting off her skirt, she grabbed her dirty haversack and thrust it over her shoulder. This was essential when it came time to doing what she did best. Ned would offer up a distraction while she collected the items she needed or wanted. It worked various times, but there were still moments when she was busted and had to make a run for it. That was never fun. Laya pulled her green scarf up over her face to keep from breathing in all the ash in the air. Ned slipped into her hood and nuzzled into the scarf. They liked to play it safe rather than sorry. As she ventured into the direction of civilization, the ash fell like snow.
xXxXxSmiling lightly while brushing her hair out of her face, the reddish-brown haired male gave a soft chuckle. "Well, my dear, they can either support us or the guy supposed to be married to someone he'd rather not touch with a forty foot pole is going to disappear. You can't force someone to marry someone they don't love, or more like ya can't force everyone to marry someone they don't love. Someone will rebel against the idea," he answered gently. While the reminder of his sister's attempt at forcing him to get married depressed him, he couldn't get past the fact that Rose had actually kissed him back. He wasn't sure if his blue-grey eyes showed that depression along with his elation of the head nurse's returned feelings, but Hibiki wasn't sure he really cared if it showed. Someone finally understood him. "I wouldn't expect you to just watch me get forced into a marriage and I wouldn't make you watch that. It's against my nature."
This wasn't the ideal place to confess one's feelings, but it was better than the bunker full of animals especially certain smaller animals that liked trying to stick their heads where it didn't belong.
xXxXxUnlike at the hospital, two tall youths wearing sunglasses were walking outside of the little town made up of bunkers. Both had a katana and a short sword at their hip and both knew how to wield these blades quite well. If their third, fourth and fifth companions weren't preoccupied, they'd have taken them along with them on this walk. The darker haired male of the duo just radiated an air of not speaking much, but it wasn't a complete air of viciousness. He could be sweet when he wanted to be. Of course only the lighter haired male beside him really knew of this other than that of their other close friends.
xxxxx"This was definitely a flaw we did not expect, but the show must go on. We have too much at risk if we let them keep running things like they are. We'll be dead due to bandits who think our town is weak. The bunkers can withstand damage, but that means squat when it comes down to food, water and what medicine we have," Jay muttered while kicking a rock and watching it sink into a thicker area of ash. Cristophe never seemed to mind trudging through all of this while playing with that handmade yo-yo of his much less the ash drifting down like snow on a constant basis. In fact, he could actually hear him humming while he watched his yo-yo go down and then come back up. "Are you even listening to me? No. You're lost in your thoughts once again. Where are we even going this time? One of your little random locations where you run off to when you're bored?"
xxxxxFeeling the yo-yo hit him in the leg, the fair haired Jay with the same mocha colored skin as dark haired Cristophe let out a hiss while hopping on one foot a few paces. "Okay, okay. I'm sorry, sheesh. You just want me to shut up don't you?" "He gets one right," the darker haired male smiled lightly while continuing on in his path that really had no path to it. It almost appeared as if he was walking in a random direction. To Jay, it really seemed like that's what they were doing. In fact, he hadn't been this far out of the bunker town. Where in the world was his little mole taking him?
xxxxxJust as he was fixing to ask his companion, he noticed Cristophe's humming had ceased alongside his playing with the yo-yo. What in the world had his interest way out here? Seeing the younger, but darker haired male point at an old rusted up tank then to a set of fresh footprints. While Cristophe started up his gentle humming again, Jay climbed up under the rusted up tank only to furrow his brow when he noticed the hatch was down. "How long has this person been out here?" "Haven't met 'em in person, but I'd say some time... Probably a group of people moving around and this one got left behind somehow... They could've been killed too... Hypothetically speaking that is. I'm following the footprints and you can continue wondering about who lives in there when she's actually part of our neighboring city as of some time ago," Cristophe snickered back while continuing to follow after the footprints towards the old city now covered in layers of ash. This got Jay to slide out from under the tank and start running after him albeit he still wasn't sure why his mole-like companion was risking his life for this girl he mentioned.
xxxxx"Considering how our group raided the surrounding areas already, my guess is that she's running out of supplies which is why she comes into the bunkers albeit how nobody has caught her yet is beyond me." "You've been sneaking supplies outside for a girl you haven't even made contact with? How long?" "Some time... Besides, that's why we're here... I'm going to try sneaking her into our place, if she'll come that is." "And you know it's a girl because...?" "I've seen her from a distance a few times, but the twins ruined my schedule so I missed her..." "Isn't this stalking?" "I call it trying to keep someone alive." Jay stared at the back of Cristophe's head through his sunglasses yet what played through it even he couldn't figure it out even after ten-plus years of being his closest friend. Seeing something green up ahead, he set a hand on his katana only to scowl slightly when Cristophe signed him to remain put where he was.
xxxxx"Excuse me! You in the green hoodie! May I speak with you a minute?" Cristophe called out to the girl while continuing to flick the yo-yo down as some form of entertainment. He actually expected her to run, but he was hoping her curiosity would get the best of her first. Chasing her would only scare her and he didn't want to terrify her. "You can keep space between us if it'll make you feel more comfortable, but you're not going to find much other than scrap materials in there. My town kind of raided the place some time ago and had to go out further for more supplies. I was hoping to talk to you sooner, but you seemed so skiddish I decided I'd put food out here for you alongside water. I'm Cris and the guy behind me is Jay. I've got a still sealed can and a bottle of water I'm going to put down and step away from so you can examine it, but all I really want to do is talk. Alright? Do you understand?" He removed his swords and set them in Jay's arms before holding his hands up in what would show he meant no harm yet kept the yo-yo, a silver can and a canteen of water held by only the strap from falling into the ash that covered the ground. Jay, while still doubting what Cristophe was doing, stepped back a few paces from the darker haired male so as to show he wasn't going to harm the girl either. They had to gain her trust first after all.
Related to Hibiki Itou in some way, shape or form:: Jay is a sixteen-year-old scavenging kind of guy. You can also say he's more like the type of guy who would defend the camp while the scavengers were out. His mindset, however, is that of being at least somewhere in his early twenties. He is always in good physical shape and can be found practicing with his katana with Cristophe when they aren't busy doing other things. That is if anyone knew where they like to hide and talk in private amongst the town of bunkers. He likes hanging out with Cristophe, practicing with his katana and music that hasn't played in years yet has been sung by his parents and their parents and their parents before them. Jay questions everything, but is rather blunt about it unlike his closest friend's silent demeanor. He's the only one capable of getting into at least part of Cristophe's thought process. Cristophe is very much like Jay only far more quiet and far more tactical. His brain literally never shuts down. Like Jay, both have odd designs that seem to be permanently in their skin like a tattoo on their arms, but it's uncertain as to what it really is seeing as even the eldest living people of their town don't have a tattoo. Jack and Leo are twin medical geniuses at the young age of seventeen. Leo has dark black hair whereas Jack has off-white hair. Jack works just fine under pressure and when just doing regular check-ups unlike his twin brother who will literally be chanting "oh crap" like a mantra that will bring him good luck. Unfortunately, after an event that ended up in the loss of a scavenger who ended up dead, these two have become clingy after work. They claim it is because they feel so cold after dealing with sick or injured patients, but most doubt that much so if they just up and hug you out of nowhere, they're just leaving work and it's to be expected. Jack can be very upbeat and cheerful, but his brother can be very uptight and serious about things. Both are very good with children seeing as they're always helping their mother and various aunts with their younger brothers, sisters and cousins when they aren't working. One of these kids is the lover of riddles, Hayden. Hayden, age thirteen and an adopted child of their family. Seeing as he wasn't originally part of the entire town, people tend to think of him as an outsider still. It doesn't help that he still remembers his parents trading his young body capable of working for food and water. He seems cold and distant, but he's really just acting that way so as to protect himself from being hurt all over again. If his own parents traded him for scraps of food that wouldn't last through the night, what wouldn't people do to survive in this day and age? While he is very young, he is very smart. His job, although it isn't official to the rest of the town, is passing along secret messages and anything involving stealth except for assassinating people. At least thus far he hasn't killed anyone. He is very honest although he doesn't really like discussing his personal life. Like his elder step-brothers who sleep on either side of him, he helps out with the children running amok his stepmother's bunker. He enjoys poetry and has his own katana albeit he hasn't used it other than in practice with Cristophe and Jay.

Rose looked at Hibiki and softly smiled then laid her head on his shoulder again. Yawning softly she giggled. "Well at least you wouldn't....the leader on the other hand will force me to go to prove a point." She closed her eyes sighing then looking at the clock thinking. "We can check on Hibiki if you want to..." She said softly.
Trudging further and further into the ash, they were nearing some what of a civilization. Ash coated this town like it did the rest of the scenery. No surprise. Suddenly... A chill ran up her spine and she stopped dead in her tracks. It felt as though something or someone was watching her. Her gaze drifted to the lower right corners of her eyes as a voice soon followed. Laya turned her body to face the two strangers. She kept her scarf over her face to conceal her identity, but it really wouldn't make much of a difference considering her frog-like hoodie and striped stockings tend to complicate matters when it came to being anonymous.
The two males looked to be older than her, but not by much. The one doing all the talking had mocha colored hair and addressed himself as Cris. Her eyes drifted to the other one, Jay. They both had some weird markings on their arms, and Laya just assumed it had something to do with their clan or whatever their group considered themselves. She gripped the strap of her haversack and leered at them. It was hard to trust people. When she was younger, her mother told her about stories of places being pillaged and damsels being raped. Often times... There were such tales of these people being murdered. Her mother never wanted to be cruel towards Laya, but wanted her to be aware of the horrors that awaited in the world.
As Cris gave his sword to his companion, he presented her with food and water. Her chocolate eyes lit up as she uneasily took a step forward. Choking back her desire, she tried to think of ways this could have been a trap. She jogged over to the items, snatched up the water, and stuck it into her haversack before picking up the can. She shook it and looked for any punctures. It appeared to be good, but she would check more in depth to make sure later. Right now... She had company.
Ned tried to poke his head out to witness the commotion, but Laya refrained him from coming out by gently pushing her forefinger on top of his head. To the two gentlemen, it just looked like she was adjusting her scarf."I understand just fine. Now state your business."She answered as she continued to keep her guard up. One wrong move could very well be her last.
xXxXx"Good. She understands what we say so we don't have to speak stupidly and give hand gestures," Jay sighed in relief after the two of them watched the girl's movements. She'd frozen for a moment there, but at the sound of food and water, she scurried forwards and started briefly examining the can. This was followed by her witty retort that almost made the fair haired male toss his shoe at her. It was to be expected, the wariness that is, but it still irritated him how she'd responded. "Look, ma'am. Cris here is a really good guy. I've honestly personally wondered why his stomach kept growling at me for a while now, but as he told me about what he's been trying to do for you, I understand now. He's been giving up his own food for survival so he could keep you alive for even a little longer."
xxxxx"I'd like to give you a better shelter, food, water and protection. I'd like to earn your trust and I'd like to see you survive. I have a friend about your age and he's from outside the town himself. He still behaves much like you're acting now; guard up and untrusting of others. It's a good way to survive, but it won't always keep you alive. I noticed you before, but you never seemed to notice my presence so I felt it was unfair you were forced to live in a tank out here in the open," Cristophe interrupted before the lighter haired male could open his mouth and insert foot. Sometimes Jay's blunt demeanor could be such a pain. He didn't so much as budge from his spot so as not to scare her, but Jay did crouch down so he could dust some of the ash off his clothes. Glancing briefly at each other, the darker haired male slightly readjusted his sunglasses before motioning her to finish her examination of the can.
xxxxx"We're not going to move if you want to finish that examination. It might be better if you ate that inside though 'cause ashes don't taste all that grand. I made the mistake of thinking it was snow when I was little," Jay smiled lightly while flashing a peace sign. His attention shifted elsewhere, however, when he could've sworn he'd heard someone moving out there. Tapping Cristophe with his foot, he gave a slight twitch of his nose only to glance back at the girl. "If it makes you feel any better, we're mostly just a handful of kids ourselves. The oldest members of our little ragtag group in town are twenty and the rest of us are younger... I'm probably not helping, am I?"
xxxxx"You think? Get her now," was all Cristophe responded before snatching up his katana, his hilt landing in Jay's arms before he ran off to who knew where. Doing as instructed, Jay darted across the space between him and the girl, his arm catching around her torso and picking her up off the ground just as a few arrows hit the ground where there footprints now were. Sliding behind a rusted up car, he kept a hand on the girl's shoulder while keeping his other hand gripped firmly around Cristophe's short sword and the sheath of his katana. "I apologize for that, but it looks like we have bandits visiting us while we were trying to speak with you. This is just our luck after all. The Mole asked me to protect you and so I will. Again, I apologize for it being so abrupt. Please stay near me until the area is cleared of these guys." Flinching behind his sunglasses when something hit the hood of the rusted up car, he pressed his back closer to the car before removing his hand from the girl's shoulder and starting to tie his companion's two sheaths on the opposite side of his swords. He just had to succeed in protecting this girl for Cris and heck, they might get a crossbow out of this attempted raid by bandits.

Personality: On the surface Cassandra is hot-tempered, stubborn and argumentative. Though she is a friendly, impulsive and borderline naive girl. When stressed she gets frustrated easily and has a tendency to take it out on those close to her but she always takes time to apologize afterwards.
Hobbies: Playing music, relaxing, dancing, playing with things she finds, improving her accuracy with a gun and practicing gymnastics.
Skills: Cassandra is a natural born fighter excelling at stealth, close quarters combat both hand to hand and with a melee weapon, she is a decent marksman with extra ordinary senses and agility. However her medical abilities are little beyond first aid and every plant she touches tends to wilt making her unsuitable to standard jobs for women.
Background: Cassandra lost her parents at an early age leaving her alone. She was found by a group of people who took her in as one of their own but as she got older she began to be ostracized by their chauvinistic leader for not being able to do 'woman work'. Shortly before she turned sixteen he deemed her fit for only one thing and the man she saw as a father attempted to force himself on her and she killed him. She promptly left the only place she knew as home and set off on her own.

After you... I don't know what I believe in.
"Well it's not my fault he is dumb enough to give up his rations for me!"She huffed back. It didn't make sense why they would even want to keep someone else alive and well unless they wanted something in return. The question now was... What did they want? Cris cut in and gave his two cents. He sounded like he cared, but there was still doubt. Bandits always thought of ways to outsmart their victims, so playing the righteous was child's play. Since it has just been her and Ned for so long... She had trouble putting faith in humanity. It was a dog eat dog world after all. When Jay mentioned a troop of kids, that caught her attention. No adults? Were they just like her or what? Perplexed, she wanted to find out more, so it seemed she needed to cooperate.
Suddenly, Ned began to squirm inside her scarf. Danger was near. She trusted Ned's instincts better than her own. Without her, he wouldn't be able to live and vise-versa. Her attention abruptly ascended to the gray sky, and following behind came Jay's arms. He scooped her up as if she were a rag doll. What was happening?! She didn't know whether to break free from his grasp or make a run for it. Now behind a car her breathing picked up it's pace. Laya knew very well she wasn't strong enough to fend these bandits off, but maybe she would have something to McGyver together that would help Jay or even Cris. That was her specialty after all. Tinkering and constructing things came second nature to the brunette girl.
Rummaging through her haversack, she pulled out random things that seemed to have no relevance to one another. Some string, a single AAA battery, duct tape, two mousetraps, a block of wood, a hand full of pennies, pliers, and a switchblade. Her brain boggled as she tried to think of ways to make these things work together to save their skins. The switchblade would come in handy, but it was silly to suggest considering Jay and Cris were swordsmen with katanas. Swallowing her pride, she looked up at Jay."Thank you."She didn't want to say much in fear of giving out too much information. She'd rather stay anonymous. Incognito. Giving the light haired male a slight nod, she trusted them with this fight, but once it was over... That would be a different story. Laya stuck her hands into the ash below and felt around for something she could use in correspondence with the items in her bag.
