Ace shook his head before looking up at her his eyes still wet from the tear that stopped falling. The tails that they left cut deep lines into his face and he opened his mouth then closed it before he finally found his voice again and said softly "The only monster here is me."

"Then tell me what release is there for my torture?" He asked quietly as he placed his head into one of his hands as the other pulled the knife out of his pocket.

Alyx closed her eyes. "Torture," she said weirily. "There is no release for me. For you...there is but one way for you to heal. I...can help...just...there's so little left of my sane mind that... If you want your pain to end kill me after I help you. Alyx...will be dead by then..."

Ace opened the knife and looked at the stain on it. It was a stain from his love's blood. He tighten his grip on the blade before the flung the knife at the wall where it buried itself in the wall. "I don't want to kill anymore. Nothing you can do fix anything. You see my hope was placed not in myself, but in others around me yourself included." He said as he brought his fist against his leg, knuckles turning white.

Ace shook his head and said "You given me every piece of you, and I have given you everything I could. The only reason I forced myself to survived was to punish myself. I told you hope is always present until you give it up. I refuse to give up on anyone else because I have already given up on myself." He force his hand to relax and to open.

"Please Ace," Alyx begged. "When the monster gets out..." Her words were lost in a fit of coughing that brought up old, congealed blood. She knew what was going to happen. 'Take what is left of me into your heart and mind at least if you refuse to kill the monster,' she thought weakly.

Ace asked her "What will happen to you if I do that?" He could feel the pit of his past slowly trying to pull him back in. He looked at her while he waited on her answer.

Rowan had led the zombies into the pit and lit a match and tossed it into the pit a large fireball fallowed a few moments after the gasoline was ignited.'Alyx dont give up hope you are still human.There is a syringe with my blood on the table it will help you.'she thought to her friend.Rowan made her way out of the forest and onto the road again moving towards a smaller lab which was not to far form were she was.

Alyx blinked, her friend's though barely making it through her fracturing mind. She coughed up more blood and pointed to what Rowan had spoken of. She couldn't speak or form a though now. The monster in her was winning.

Ace saw what she was pointing to and picked it up and moved to her side and said "Hold still." He stuck the needle into her arm where a vein was and pushed the contents into her and whispered "I hope this helps."

Alyx reached out a hand and touched his face. She knew her hand held no warmth. She was a dead thing. Her skin was no longer just pale. Her eyes held no light. She was a monster; she was a Zombie; she was Project One; she was Patient Zero.
