__ Tetsuhiko nodded when Bastet mentioned his mother's reputation, which he had heard of quite a bit. He still had a difficult time imagining his mom baking cookies one moment and lacerating her enemies in iron maiden coffins the next. He enjoyed hearing of Bastet's family and lineage. He made a mental note of how prominent they were in the village. The Miyamoto family was certainly not the everyday family of Sunagakure and he was curious.
He remained quiet for a few moments as he remembered back to his academy days when Mamoru and Bastet were mentioned. "What was your favorite adventure when Mamoru? I'm sure you've had plenty over the years." Tetsuhiko tried not to sound presumptuous, but he was intrigued by the concept. Bastet has been a legendary and splendid kunoichi as far as Tetsuhiko could remember. The fact that Tetsuhiko was walking through the Land of Wind and talking with her as a Genin was still baffling to him. He would mention it, but he could tell that his company would not appreciate the flattery. "This is all so cool!"He thought as Caesar continued to walk in sequence with the movements of Tetsuhiko's digits.
A gust of wind threatened to dislodge Bast's hat, but instinctively she reached up and grabbed it before it so much as twitched. For all the amazement Tetsuhiko was feeling, Bast was just glad to be out of the Village again. While going on trips with other people wasn't very common anymore, it still didn't leave much of an impression on her, probably as a holdover from the days when she didn't go anywhere without a student or colleague at her side.
"When Mamoru was Kage? Hard to say, so much happened. Personally, probably when I got to go home for a bit, but aside from that it might be one of the messes we had to clean up in Rouran, or dealing with the Jofuku in that forest I pointed out earlier. Hard to say, exactly. You'll both be making your own memories in no time at all, if you're unlucky."

__ Tetsuhiko listened to Bastet and she did not immediately strike him as a sentimental person. "She has a hard exterior, but there's a lot of good in her. Maybe her soul has been weathered by war." He analyzed her not to judge her, but because he was genuinely interested in the souls of the people around him. When she finished he smiled and spoke up. "What does home mean to you? Good tea?" He asked in addition to a reference from what she said about her family previously.
The Iron Prince thought for a second about her statement that he would make unfortunate memories on his missions. "What kind of shinobi do you think I should be based on my skillset?" This was an advice-oriented question because he needed a goal to work towards.
"Tea's nice, but it isn't exactly a roof over your head," she denied with a noncommittal shrug. "For me, home is ultimately the island where our family comes from. My house in the Sand is modeled after the one there."
Tetsuhiko's next question was a bit more involved than the former. Iron Sand was very versatile in her experience, and the elemental affinities that comprised it didn't help narrow things down either. If she had to characterize the role of a puppeteer it would be a mid-range fighter, though there was still considerable variation in how puppets were used based on the person controlling them. Sanshi had been ANBU, but he also hadn't been a puppeteer.
"I'd say stick to mid-range combat as much as you can, and once you can reasonably operate in that area pick up some abilities in either short- or long-range. Profession-wise, you'd likely be good as a supporting fighter or an ambusher, which lend themselves well to the ANBU and Oinin programs. I wouldn't suggest something dealing with the public, but hell, you could probably do just fine dealing with non-human threats as an Oinin."

__ Tetsuhiko simply nodded in agreement with the roof over the head statement. The island comment was curious but he decided not to pry any further for now. When she began to advise him based on his unique skill set his ears perked up. The advice was very expert but left him with further questions. "What would a supporting fighter or ambusher do? What do you mean by non-human threats?" At this stage Tetsuhiko knew very little about what ANBU and Oinin do and how to actually become one.
Sometimes Bast forgot she wasn't dealing with people who had as much experience as she did, and in particular she tended not to realize what a good starting point on the subject was for new students.
"A supporting fighter would be someone who can aid in the offense, defense or support actions of their teammates without necessarily being specialized in any of those things," she explained while trying to come up with a good example to illustrate the point. "It's like how throwing pebbles at someone might not do much damage, but it can make them change course or distract them so your buddy can put their knuckles to the enemy's jaw. An ambusher works to overwhelm the enemy through unforeseen complications, traps, and sheer numbers, which you may recognize as the usual calling card of puppeteers; their ability to raise, lower, change their combat potential by adding, subtracting, or swapping out puppets is what makes them so effective even beyond the unpredictability of a puppet's mechanisms. Think of it this way: you're fighting a dude in an alleyway when he whistles and several of his buddies pop out. You might not even get to hit him after that. Now imagine his buddies take turns attacking you from different angles."
She paused to let that sink in for a moment. There was also the matter of puppets continuing to be useful even when broken, or the ability to strategically drop them in and out of combat on a whim, but she didn't want to overload him at the moment. That sort of knowledge was best gained through hands-on experience, anyway.
"Non-human threats are, for lack of a better term, monsters. I don't know too much about them, to be honest, but I've run into a couple here and there. Brought a fight to a draw against a damn water lizard, of all things. Come to think of it, I've mostly only run into them in Takumi..." She trailed off, grimacing slightly while staring toward the crossroads ahead. "...well, if it comes down to it, you'll get some valuable experience running away."

__ Tetsuhiko had a lot of questions about the shinobi world as a whole. Growing up in a family of shinobi made certain aspects of the job common knowledge for him, but he was still a student of it. He was always nervous at the prospect of combat, he would much prefer staying home and painting on a blank canvas. He was also still uncertain of the idea of using his art to harm others, it still seemed like a bastardization to him. He listened intently to her advice and was starting to gain a glimmer of confidence in himself and his future.
The Iron Prince placed a finger to his chin and contemplated some more,it would likely be understandable to Bastet that he would need a moment before responding. "Ambusher sounds more exciting, a sublime performance indeed." After he said that he thought some more and raised a question about the monsters. "Do you think these monsters you speak of would be a good way to get poison?" Tetsuhiko was taught at the academy that poisons were a big part of the puppeteer fighting style, although it seemed so silly to him. Why would he want to poison an enemy and cut great theatre and drama so short? He supposed he would have to at least consider it in order to complete his missions effectively.
"Most likely, though plants are the typical go-to for poisons. Creatures that employ toxic substances are likely to use them against you should you attack, so I wouldn't hunt them down without some sort of precaution in place beforehand, even if your puppets are the only things going into contact with them," Bast advised coolly as the group approached the crossroads. The ground had become rocky with a few plants poking up through cracks in the ground, and in the distance it was grassy with some shrubs and the odd tree. "Alright, we're almost out of the Wind Country. Step to, we don't want to dawdle on foreign soil."

__ As Tetsuhiko listened more to his sensei he could suddenly see the terrain change through the king's eyes. "This is so weird." He thought as he saw a world without desert for the first time in his life. "Of course, Lady Bastet." Tetsuhiko said as Caesar picked up the pace. Suddenly he was on his way to the world's crossroads.

__ The Iron Prince returned to the Land of Wind's roads. Once Caesar stepped through the roads Tetsuhiko manipulated it to walk off of the roads into a large open clearing. He was still relatively close to the roads, but relatively out of sight and out of mind for many a passerby. He jumped out of his puppet's back and detached its strings causing it to stand lifelessly in front of him. He walked around the puppet and stood before the large flat desert. He closed his eyes and breathed in before creating a magnetic field and playing the small tambourines on his wrists.
He kept plays the tambourine wrist bangles magnetically and converted the ground before him into a large pile of iron sand. Tetsuhiko turned patches of sand into C-Rank sizes of iron sand over twenty times until he created the desired results. The Sand ninja then manipulated a very small amount of the sand in the grand scheme of that giant pile and weaved it into the fabric of his clothing and scarf. These grains made his clothes a little heavier and not very effective as armor, but made the clothing completely magnetic. With the pile still there Tetsuhiko sat on the ground to rest.

__ Tetsuhiko was so exhausted from using up that much iron sand that he fell asleep on the hot sand. He enjoyed his peaceful slumber under his scarf. He was covered in sand, but at least he would not get a sunburn. He continued to sleep and dream about art.
His sleep persisted as his chakra reserves began to refill. His chakra bank increased as his eyes remained shut in REM sleep. This nap continued as his chakra began to refill more.
With his chakra nearly completely replenished he started to exit the sleep cycle. This was necessary slumber that rested his body to use more chakra. He continued to sleep until now, with his chakra bank refilled once more.
Tetsuhiko stood up once again and unraveled his scroll in front of him and summoned the entire Iron Funeral Collection of Nine Marionettes. With the tambourines playing in the magnetic music performance he waved his arms at the giant pile and converted pieces of it into kunai, senbon, fuma shuriken, cannonballs, and meticulously filled all of his puppets' ammunition pools. After that, he took the iron sand that remained and filled all of their stomach cavities with ten gallons of iron sand each. Once that task was completed he formed four sealing engravings inside of four puppets, in areas like their ammunition pools. These seals were of B-Rank caliber.
__ Tetsuhiko laid down again for another brief nap on his scarf placemat on the sand. He was covered up to keep the sunlight out of his eyes and off of his skin. While he slept he had peculiar dreams.
He continued to sleep and enterred into another phase of sleep. He keep weaving in and out of sleep phases and reasting. His sleep was peaceful and exactly what he needed.
Today was an exhausting day as he continued his rest. He was resting as the chakra refilled to its entirety over time. His peaceful slumber would soon come to an end.
He stood up and now he was prepared to continue outfitting his puppets. The Iron Prince magnetically played the tambourine bangles as seals formed within the five other puppets ammunition pool areas. Finally, one more seal was placed onto his right inner forearm. All of the seals were the strongest he could form as a Genin at B-Rank. Now that all of the seals were formed he created four hundred and twenty pounds of iron sand out of the ground and sealed it away in his forearm seal. The rest of the puppets disappeared in a cloud of smoke as well.
Next he set up his placemat for one final rest before he could depart. He closed his eyes before jumping into the sweet oblivion of sleep. His chakra would now have time to replenish.
Tetsuhiko had a light snore as he peacefully slept and regained his chakra pool. His slumber relaxed his muscles and his breathing giving him exactly what he needed. It would be soon that he would wake up feeling completely recharged.
This refreshing sleep continued with more light breathing. The exhaustion from the extensive chakra pool use was too much to bear without a bit of a sleep. Finally, he opened his eyes and looked around after that perfect nap with his chakra back to normal. Now he alone walked onto the road and continued on his journey, dusting off his clothes.

Grass gave way to scrub gave way to cracked earth gave way to sand as the group sped along on their return trip from Takumi. The landscape quickly deteriorated to a world of nothing but sand and sky, separated only by a rough line at the horizon. This would persist for quite a while, but soon the imposing walls of the Sand Village would appear and begin to grow, marking their destination.

__ The student remained in tow behind his teacher as they began to enter the vast desert. He was there converting the sand to iron dust not too long ago. As he walked he looked over to see the large patches of area that he had converted.

Atsuma walked alone on the road leading away from the village he had made his 'home' although no place was an actual home for himself. While he walked he realized he still wore his headband revealing what he was and where he was from. He decided tossing it would be a bad idea and simply put it away in one of his pockets.
