Trey laid there, looking at the skies, her ears listening else where. It was good one minute pause before she realized the boy was talking to her. Her face turned red as she looked over at the kid, his words still lingering in the air.

"Huh? Oh. Um, no, not really. I like to walk, I like to feel my feet secured to the Earth." she shrugged when she sat up, peeking around a bush to get a look at the two on the bench.

"Why do you ask, Lunaru?" she asked, still looking around the bush as she peeked back at the boy. Knowing it was obvious now she was eavesdropping.

User Image Any other time Astin would try this, he probably would have snarled at her, and even given her a face. However, despite his hatred for the Court, and everything they did, he couldn't quite find any inner fire to exert on the Joker this time. The insult was all there, but for some reason, it didn't ignite anything. His body moved a bit with a very half hearted laugh. There was no way he was in his right mindset. He flicked his lighter again, opening it and closing it. Without looking up from his spot he muttered, "Have you ever felt unwanted by someone?" What was wrong with him? He should have got up and left. This was no time to be an emotional wreck! Especially not to a Court member, his image would crumble within hours, but for some reason, at this very moment, he didn't seem to care. "Unwanted by someone who was supposed to be the only one who was always expected be there, even when there was no one else? Only to have them shove you away... and no matter what you did, they kept shoving you until you fell. And when you fell... they turned to leave you..." Why was he telling her this? Why wasn't he being straight forward about it? He closed his lighter for the night and put it back into his pocket.

Now that his story was out, he needed to cover it up. He was a Black Knight, one of the strongest, too. So he quickly formulated the simple minded excuse, "Uh... just thinking out loud." He slightly smirked, remembering what she did to him earlier that day. He stood up, and taking both his index and middle finger he kissed them and put them on Astin's lips. "That was for earlier today." He shoved his hands into his pockets and took very light steps to his dorm. If he was lucky, it wasn't quite curfew.

Lunaru had noticed now her attention was else where at this point, but yet she seemed still a bit interested. Lunaru began again, "I know how you feel about the whole earth thing. Though im not an earth user myself, I like to walk barefoot and feel the warm or cool feeling of moist grass between my toes cushioning me while i walk, but..." he paused with a smile on his face yet again.

His ADHD kicked in for a second and couldnt help blurting out, "You know a smile can make everything better and can also make everything so much worse."

Back on subject, Lunaru had lowered his smile to a smirk. "Being on the ground is trapping also, you know? You're stuck to it unless you jump, but its short lived. Freedom is not being held down not even by gravity. Also, with my freedom i could see all the blossoming flowers and budding trees all at once. I could enjoy nature fully. Supported by wind, my soul lives free and i can enjoy my time to think and reflect on many things," Lunaru said with a glowing hope burning in his voice, "I dont like the violence. Training to protect yourself can be fun, but i dont like having to apply my learnings. I rather apply my knowledge as an individual and enlighten us all instead of weighing us down with burden. Wanna know what its like to experience that?"

Lunaru stood up. He looked down to see a budding, bright blue flower. He Smile has he bent down and picked it. He raised his hands, as the wind began to blow gently towards Trey, the he let go of the flower. The wind blew gently carrying the flower to Trey, placing the flower in her hair. Lunaru gave a look of welcome as his feet began to slowly lift off the ground.

Astin blinked a bit confused as to what the Black Knight was rambling about. Sure she had felt unwanted, though the feeling was more so that she felt like a burden to her parents because of her weak state. But that was what motivated her to become stronger so she wouldn't burden anyone and her ranking was proof of her strength, though she was still weak in a sense she could at least manage for herself and she was certain that her parents didn't see her as a burden anymore.

As she was about to speak the Knight did something unexpected and caused Astin even more confusion. She felt his fingers press against her lips and she her eyes shot up at him, watching him walk away back towards the school. She sat motionless till he entered the school, completely speechless. Was he playing mind games with her now? That was her thing, but slowly she reached up touching her lower lip. She dropped her hand slowly to the bench, I can't lose my head gotta figure things out.

Astin rose quickly, shaking her head trying to get the thoughts in her head out and stumbled back towards the bench. Breathing in Astin composed herself, "I just need sleep." Nodding along with her words, she headed back to her dorm to follow her own advice.

Riku felt Aurelia touch his hand and he quickly tensed a bit, then relaxed. Very soon after, he felt two fingires slide his eyelids shut, with a few words or another, she began to slowly move his hands and everything else around so he might have a chance of getting off of her while he was blind. He grinned widely and nodded, "I'm in your care!" His voice was still cheerful. However, his leg moved and through one mean or another, his MP3 player began playing music. And wouldn't you know it, he forgot to turn his headphones down, and they emitted the song Crushcrushcrush by Paramore. He went sort of red, "I-if you don't like the song, you can change it or turn it off. My MP3 player is in my pocket, my right pocket." Curse his MP3 player, always playing these kinds of songs...

Trey's eyes widen as she watched Ken's actions. She swallowed hard as she watched him leave, then watching Astin walk off. She wanted to stand and talk to her. But she knew better. Keep to yourself, Trey. Just forget about them. But she couldn't. The images played through her head like a broken film roll. Over and over, until she was fed up with it.

She brought her attention back to Lunarus, seeing him floating, she smirked. That's why he was so into 'flying' it was cute really. She sighed and rose to her feet, keeping her head low. Her voice was even lower.

"That's cute and all. But I don't like heights very much. " she lied. "Plus, curfew is around the corner, and we'll have to run to make it in time." That wasn't a lie. It was apparent the boy was still new and had no idea of a curfew or anything else.

She turned her back to him, her form seemed... Sad as she walked, she really didn't care if she got into trouble again, she didn't care if he did. But regardless, her mind set was of taking care of people and making sure they didn't get into too much trouble, especially on their first day.

"Come on, I'll walk you to your Dorm. If any of the authorities say anything let me talk."

Lunaru lowered down ins disappointment. He was looking forward to showing a new friend the skies. He picked another flower closer to the root and carried it with him. "Ill put this in that jar i kept till i call my mom in the morning for a vase and my other things," Lunaru had thought as he began to follow Trey.

Lunaru Began to yawn a quite often as they made their way to his dorm. He turned to shake Trey's hand, yawning again and covering it with the other hand. He excused himself then turned to open the door. He went in, and locked the door. He sluggishly walked over to his bed and set his alarm clock. He then opened his laptop and turned on his playlist "Cute Is For The Owls" and turned the sound down to a whisper as not to obscure the sound of his alarm. After he plopped himself down in his bed, let out a big yawn, and covered himself for bed. He fell asleep within minutes.

Trey bid the boy good night, and turned to go to her dorm. She walked with slow strides, in no hurry to get back to her room. Her mind was baffled by what she saw, confusion across her face at the scene that just took place. Was their something going on between Ken and Astin? It would be unheard of, the court would have nothing to do with Astin, and the Knights would have nothing to do with Ken if that was to take place. They where rival groups.

Finally she came to her door, using her key she slide it in the key lock. It beeped and the door unlocked. She walked in, tossing the key card to the near by table. Trey walked to her bed and fell, as soon as her face hit her pillow she began to cry. The tears violent and harsh, soaking the pillow and the sides of her two toned hair.

"What the hell is wrong with me!? I shouldn't even care what happens next. Why is this bothering me so frigging badly! " she screamed to no one but the darkness.

Sitting up, she turned and pulled her knees to her chest, her arms wrapping around her knees. Her favorite position. It was all to herself, people could be as close to her as they wanted, and she still had her space. She looked at the door, watching shadows pass from under, students heading to their dorms.

Aurelia again was glad that it was nighttime and that Riku couldn't see as she felt her blush continue to color her face. "Actually, I like this song." She admitted, knowing that it was stored in her music library on her laptop in her dorm. However, as the song continued to play, she could feel the atmosphere between them grow even more awkward, the lyrics seeming to make it worse. "Well, I guess I'll change it, anyway." Aurelia then moved down a bit so that her left hand could reach for his right pocket. As she reached down she tilted her head in an attempt to see where she was placing her hand, but ended up placing her forehead on his shoulder. After her hand had found his MP3 player she pulled her head back. "Sorry," She apologized, finding the Forward button to change the song.

Riku's MP3 player had given up on throwing the two hints (whatever it was trying to hint at), or at least, in Riku's mind it did. The next song it played was Clocks, and this time when he opened his eyes, he could distinguish Aurelia's frame against the rooftop. "I can see! For a second there I thought I had really gone blind! You are a genius, Aurelia!" He half shouted, estatic. He looked around the ground, able to spot the concrete in the moonlight, he could see his shadow, and he could see... just how awkard he and Aurelia really looked in this position.

Quickly springing into action, his MP3 had magically found the stop button, and quit playing all music. Riku rubbed the back of his head, looking away. He was blushing, and he was pretty sure Aurelia could see it because of the moonlight. "Uh... s-s-sorry." He stammered, trying to pretend somethign in the distance was keeping him entirely focused while he cranked his apology out. Afterwards though, he held his hand down to her, and a cheerful grin replaced the embarassed one. "Here lemme help you up. It is absolutely the very least I can do."

A little shocked by his small exclamation Aurelia laughed a little. "No, it's just that your eyes needed some time to adjust after that light." Sitting up she couldn't help but look up at him. Seeing his face she shook her head slightly, as if to clear her mind, thinking that her eyes were playing tricks on her. Impossible. Aurelia convinced herself. Why am I even thinking about that... Hearing his voice she broke out of her thoughts, and smiled back at him. "Um, thanks." Taking his hand with hers she used it for leverage in order for her to stand. During that brief moment did the thought come to her, how her hand seemed to fit in his, and the warmth that banished the cold air around them, how comforting it was. However, when she gained her balance, Aurelia let go, nervously staring at the ground, seeing their shadows.

"Well...I think it's time to go back inside..." Her voice trailed off. Briefly glancing back at her wristwatch she noticed that it was close to time for dorm room checks. "I'm going to have to check the dorms soon." Looking back up at him she playfully poked Riku in the side. "Wouldn't want to report you for breaking curfew." She teased, already turning for the door.

Riku nodded, still smiling as everything continued. There was that feeling in his hand again. The one that made his hand feel like it wasn't his alone, anymore, but shared. It took the words from Aurelia a second to reach Riku's ears, but then, he caught on quickly. Jogging for the door Aurelia was going for, he got in just after her. "Yeah, I hear the curfew punishments a killer." He teased back. Once he was inside, he put a hand on her shoulder and leaned towards her ear. "I'll see you tomorrow." He patted her shoulder and made his way to his room.

He kept his composture until he reached his dorm, and when he shut the door, he scratched his head frantically. "What am I thinking?" And that was a question he couldn't quite answer. Ever since he had made his way to his dorm, his thoughts weren't coherent at all. Everytime he was thinking about something, his mind jumped to Aurelia. "I must be insane. No other explanation." He said to himself, hoping that he'd buy it. Unfortunatly, he knew he was sane. He crawled into his bed (boxers only, of course.) and left his MP3 and headphones on the nightstand. Still, his MP3 player wouldn't be stopped so easily, and again, it played a song. Namely I Believe in a Thing called Love. Riku scowled at the piece of technology, "I swear, you have, and state your own opinions." He stopped the music and went to sleep, shouting, "Night, Ken!" Only to recieve a groan in reply. He chuckled, and quickly found himself asleep.

User Image Cyclone watched the two black Knights leave and yawned.

"Well... I should head to my room as well..." He walked to his dorm and hit the bed with a thud. Man... what a long day. He thought. If I see the punk again... well, he'd better hope I don't... He groaned in frustration. "Being the King is hard," He complained. "But worth it..." He closed his eyes and slowly fell asleep.

Aurelia watched Riku walk away, standing on the staircase in the darkness for a few minutes to give him some time. However, the silence the night offered only seemed to make his words echo in her head, replaying over and over again. Aurelia crossed her arms, still leaning on the stair railing and breathed deeply. A warm feeling seemed to spread inside her, his words almost sounding like a promise. Still, she pushed the thought away, reminding herself that she still had duties to fulfill before going to bed.

Beginning from one end of the hallway and going down to the other end Aurelia began knocking on each one, checking to see if everyone was in for the night. If nobody answered, she simply listened and summoned a small wind current, sending it into the room and tried to determine how many people were in the room. When she came to a particular dorm she heard that one of the students was in the infirmary. When she had asked why, she received no answer. After checking the other rooms Aurelia quickly went to the infirmary and discovered that the Knight had injured a student. Black Knight activity....hmph. The Knight... Deep in thought on her way back to the dorms she decided to hold this information in case she needed it.

Arriving in her dorm room Aurelia changed quickly into a tank top and shorts. Before heading for her bed she walked to the stereo, turning it on and setting the sleep mode to an hour. Tucking herself in she sighed, burying her head in the pillows and liking snuggling into the blanket. It was only then that she heard the song from a CD her mother had given her, A Vision of You. "Great..." Aurelia then stood up and turned the stereo off. She was a music junkie, loving all genres and practically anything given to her. But, tonight wasn't the best night for music, obviously. As soon as she was tucked in again she closed her eyes and fell asleep, tired from the day's events and looking forward to tomorrow.

((Ok, I hope everyone is in their dorms. ^^))

User ImageNight. It is a time when those darkest entities that eschew the sun's withering gaze, slip out under the paler light of the moon and stars. Secrets, emotions, mischief, release. All things that during the day can be cast in a full light to revel the darkest depths, or cast harsh shadows. But under the silver illumination, facets can be hidden, truths can appear as something else. To quote: 'all the shines is not light, and dark will sometime gleam'.

New players have entered into the game. Though the white Queen may begin on a square as unblemished as her cloak of position, how long will she remain on White in her dangerous waltz? The Black Knight's path may have an uncertain pattern, but who shall he capture first, or who shall capture him?

And the Joker, the wildcard, the fool. Her grinning face has fallen on the board face-up. Though soon enough casually placed off to the side, the moments she obscured the field have rearranged the pieces far more than the painted face knows. Like the null Arcana, her presence brings change, her potential unlimited. The journey for her, and others remains uncertain.

Then finally the other pieces are revealed. Though in positions of power, neither King has made a move. Pawns litter the field, shall they be consumed to nothing as so many have before them? Will their progress be halted, and all hope of advancement cease? Or shall they slip through the hardships to become what they were meant to be, and ultimately lead to checkmate.

Only advancement, one piece at a time will tell.

High above the schooltop, a lone figure stood silhouetted against the moon leaning against the wrought iron fence that circled the flat roof on the clock tower. The night winds cascaded around him, but disturbed not one page of the newly ink-stained pages bound in a leather cover. Replacing both the heavy metal pen and the small journal into his pockets, a cruel smile grew across his face as raven eyes beheld the expansive world below.

"End, of Chapter One."
