“Let me do something to let you breathe beneath the water. Otherwise I fear you might drown. I am going to the deepest part of the water to get the fish, this is where they congregate.” Calisto would concentrate as she put her hand near Alex’s face before a soft gentle light would flow into his body. “That will afford you a couple of hours of breath beneath the water. You shouldn’t drown. It is my way of protecting you as you have protected me.” Calisto smiled as she took Alex’s hand in her own to lead him towards the lake to show him it would be alright.

Trickmaster performed a handstand as he observed Ewan instructing Akira and grinned behind his mask, his eyes twinkling merrily. He eyed a low tree branch that was stable and sprang onto it, hanging from his legs from the branch, watching the lesson.

Akira nodded. She joined Ewan on the soft grassy ground. She closed her eyes, and tried to picture the world around her, just as she heard, and felt it. She sat perfectly still, hardly breathing. She would breath out softly, and breath in. "Ewan, am I doing this wrong?" She asked not feeling the warmth.

Ewan placed a hand to his forehead, remembering something he neglected to say. "My apologies, dear," he said, not losing his smile. "I forgot to tell you to clear your mind. If you're focusing on anything, it will disrupt the flow of natural energy. Try again, and keep your thoughts clear as crystal. We have plenty of time, so don't feel rushed."

"I believe that this is where I can interject." Trickmaster said, swinging off the branch and landing on his feet gracefully. "There is a method that a former apprentice of mine used to help her ease into drawing on magic." He explained. "Now the trick is like this... imagine yourself as a flowerbud, and imagine yourself opening up and drawing in the sunlight, if you allow your body to work in that mindset, then you will draw in the power, and when you feel yourself warming you will so the world in such clarity and vibrancy that anything else seems a wan imitation. The way will come to you, if you are patient. You may very well find your own technique." He added with a pleasant tone. "But at least try it. It certainly can't hurt."

Akira nibbled her lip. She nodded, wanting to try both approaches. She tried to clear her mind, but found herself thinking, 'Is my mind clear yet?' With a sigh she tried to imagine herself as a flower. She found herself concentrating on the warmth of the sun, and she could feel herself growing aware of the plants surrounding her. She realized her mind was blank also, and these feelings were simply her senses opening up to the world, especially things around her that were wet, like the water, or a dew covered petal. She felt the warmth growing within her core. Her cheeks flushed and she opened her eyes. "I felt it."

"That's a nice approach," Ewan said. "Your apprentice was certainly onto something." He then turned back to Akira. "Well done, dear. Well done. Now that you've been accepted, we can begin with the tricky stuff: learning to control this new power. With us teaching you, it shouldn't be too difficult."

Akira nodded excitedly. "I am very excited to begin! How is the best way to begin? What will it feel like? Was that the magic that I felt, the warm part?" She had a chance, the earth had not rejected her!

An elf could be found running through the forest only because she wanted to escape the life as a gypsy. She was tired of it finally and to escape it she ran. She was still dressed in her gypsy garb as she came upon the lake finally being able pass through the barrier only because she was not a threat. She’d look to see that there were people there, but she had to look around to make sure she was not still being chased considering that if you run from gypsies they often do not let you get away. “Ex-excuse me um…where am I?”, said Meryl.

Trickmaster turned to face the newcomer and smiled behind his mask. "Where are we indeed?" He said in his usual detached manner. "To be honest, I am not completely sure of that either. I just joined up with this entourage myself." He chuckled. "What brings one of the Traveling People to this place anyhow? They tend to avoid stark wilderness like this with equal passion toward large cities when it can be helped... or so I have experienced."

“To escape the same traveling people that would hold me prisoner to them and not allow me to be free.” Her voice came out meekly as she spoke. She didn’t want to be apart of that particular gypsy group anymore if she could. Her breath had to take awhile to catch. She’d place her hand upon her chest as she did this while her ears seemed to droop at either side of her head.

"Yes," Ewan replied, "that was the earth's power. As for where to begin, I think we sho..." He was cut off by the appearance of a new person. "That may have to wait, however." The healer approached the elf, but not too much (he could tell she was shy), and bowed deeply. "Good day to you, madam. If I read my map correctly on the way here, we are at Lighthaven Lake. If you need to rest, go right ahead. We should have food soon, if you need it."

Akira looked up at Ewan, and when he was distracted by the woman she looked up too. "Hello there!" Akira said brightly. She waved to the elf. Akira tried to keep her amazement inside. Here was another creature, so beautiful, and graceful.

“Lighthaven Lake…I’m free then. They wouldn’t have chased me this far out…” Meryl looked at both Ewan and Akira as she breathed a sigh of relief and just collapsed to the ground. She’d sit there on her knees like a delicate flower would. Her entire body needed time to recover. She hadn’t expected to run so far like that. Let alone get away as she enjoyed to dance, but not in the way they wanted her to. She wanted to be free. “I-I’m Meryl.”
