"Really?" Rhea's eyes filled with curiosity. "What do you know about him? Mama doesn't say much about him, but she was sure talking to him a lot this morning. She says he's the one that helped me get born and stay alive and kept Mama alive when I was born, but that's kind of all I know about him. He's a fighter at the ranch, he doesn't talk to a whole lot of people, but I know that some of the people from your world like him a whole lot, there was Miyu and Toshiro and they spent a lot of time with him when he was here - but most of the people on the ranch well the fighters and hands anyways are scared of him because he likes to be scary to people I don't know why -"

Cindy giggled some more and nodded, "I'm afraid I don't know much neither, Miyu is my niece and she tells me Aragost is very nice, and as I'm sure you know she's a very shy little girl. So to have her say that about Aragost means a lot."
Which meant it was true, he chose to be scary, but why Cindy could not understand for the life of her, but the others accepted it as fact.

Rhea looked thoughtful. She knew how shy Miyu was - hadn't she spent about a month with the girl? Indirectly, sure, since she had really been spending the time with Kara, but still ...
"Did Aragost tell you about me?" she asked Cindy again, hoping for a bit more information from her this time. "Did he tell you about what my magic can do and how you can teach me all about it?"

"Well... he pointed me in the right direction," Cindy offered, "So we can start helping you control your magic, as well as talk about it. I think as far as the use of magic, it hasn't been something we've talked about that well has it?"
Since the whole idea of magic was something they had taken for granted, and of course Cindy had taken it for granted that she already knew magic was the cure all to end all.

Rhea clasped her hands innocently behind her back. "Well," she said softly, eyes wide as she looked up at Cindy, "we were mainly talking about what I can do, and finding out all what I can do, because we can't control it if we don't know what I can do, right?"
Personally, she wasn't worried about her magic - but then, she didn't know what it all meant, yet, either.

"That is true, but we haven't talked about exactly what we know so far you can do, and how it affects things around you..." Cindy paused for a moment, "Or how magic itself affects you."
She put a hand on Rhea's head thoughtfully. Now was probably a better time than doing it during an official lesson.

Rhea blinked up at Cindy, suddenly very confused.
"My magic can ... do things to me?" she questioned, eyes wide. "But ... but Mama's ... Mama's and Papa's magicks don't do anything to them ... is my magic really different?"
For that matter, what exactly was her magic, that it was such a big deal? After all, she had only been making spring, and making light, and making a pretty flying horse ...

"Their magicks tend to not need a great deal of energy, or if it does.. well they haven't ever had the need to test their limit and hopefully they never will," Cindy placed her hand on the back of Rhea and steered Rhea towards her room, "When you deal magic, it has to come from somewhere, it always goes somewhere else and it always affects the user. Like for example, your mother has the gift of languages, that is magic, and it affects her directly since it allows her to know languages with ease."
She let Rhea take a seat somewhere in her room, after all this might take a while.

Instead of moving to sit down, Rhea headed over to her closet and pulled out a skirt and a long-sleeved blouse.
"I don't understand," she said quietly as she pulled her nightdress off and reached for her skirt. "I mean ... I know Mama can speak lots of languages, so I can understand why that's how her magic affects her ... but I don't understand the rest of that what you said."
She pulled her blouse over her head and moved to sit on the bed, crossing her legs and leaning towards Cindy to hear more.

"Well... I suppose I should stop skirting around the issue first," Cindy mused thoughtfully, "What I'm trying to say is, now matter how great magic is, magic is only limited by the user. There are things we cannot do, without seriously hurting ourselves. Like... a healer cannot keep healing without rest, healing takes energy, and if a healer does that he or she will eventually collapse.
She put a finger under Rhea's chin.
"As important it is for you to know what you can do, it is more important for you to understand there are things you cannot do, and I don't mean what your of course can't do magically. I mean things that as magic users we should not mettle in, not only because it can disturb things around us, but because it can seriously hurt us or worse."

"Oh," Rhea murmured softly, her brow furrowing slightly as she thought about what she had just been told. But she still didn't understand what that all had to do with her - she couldn't change herself with her magic, could she? She understood that she couldn't make spring whenever she wanted, because it would damage the trees and such, but ... that wouldn't hurt her, would it?
"Is my magic dangerous or something?" she asked fearfully, changing her position so that she could hug her knees.

"Only if used incorrectly," Cindy chewed her lip, this wasn't working, but she didn't want to frighten Rhea away from this.
She decided to try a different approach, and tilted her head the manner that said that she (like most of her family) had a question or were confused.
"Rhea, you said you wanted to help people right?"

Rhea nodded, but her nod was not as certain as it had been earlier that morning.
"That's ... a good thing, right?" she asked hesitantly. "To want to help people?"

"It is, it is a wonderful thing for you to want to help people," Cindy agreed assuringly, "Caring about other people's well being is a wonderful thing, but my question to you is... when do you think, you can't help people?"
There had been a bit of uncertainy in the nod, so maybe she had already thought of the difficulty, or maybe Rhea was getting it from Cindy herself. Cindy couldn't really tell at this point.

Rhea didn't know where Cindy was going with all of these questions, and she had to think for a very long time before she could give Cindy an answer.
"If ... if it's something ... I can't do?" she guessed, perplexed. "But ... I don't even know how I can help people ... I can just make light and shapes and ... and make spring ... and ... and I can have wings but I can't even fly!"
The more she thought about it, the more confused she became. "Is there something that I don't know that you're not telling me?" she asked in a small voice.
Of course, she still hadn't even heard anyone mention the word 'empath', nor would she have any idea what that meant if she had. To her, she was just learning new magics she already possessed, not gaining new abilities with each magic user she encountered.
