Awen nodded a little bit to her comment but honestly hadn't heard much. Instead of watching the anime, or chatting, her eyes were closed. She wasn't sure exactly why but she had been terribly sleepy all of a sudden/

She didn't exactly need to sleep in the tank but it was mre comfortable that way. She wouldn't be opposed to some cuddle time, as Awen felt she really needed to be felt herself after everything. But it seemed it was too late anyway, by the end of the second episode Awen was sound asleep.

Lauren noticed Awen had fallen asleep when she had not answered her at all. She looked over and smiled, "Good night Awen." Turning off the television and snuggling in her blanket made nest, she laid there awake for an hour or two thinking of what was going to happen, what had happened and what could possibly happen.

They weren't all pleasant thoughts but she was handling them better here rather then in her own duplex. Eventually though her eyelids became too heavy as she too went off to dreamland.

They've gone too far...

Pyroth, after grabbing something to eat the next day, headed down to the jungle again. He really wasn't in the mood to see people, well, not a /lot/ of people as tended to gather in the main villiage. Out here he could just sit around and pretend that nothing at all was up with the world, helped along to an extent by what he had smoked earlier, of course it was pretty rapid to wear off, but left a pleasant mental fuzziness.

He had been telling himself all that morning that he really didn't have anything to complain about, he wasn't that much different from before, was he?

Yes he was.

Before he had been a coyote shaped man, now he was becoming a man shaped coyote. He had crossed an invisible line, one which was worrying him more the more he thought about it.

He let out a deep sigh at the philosophical questions of it and furrowed his brows, his mind hopping erratically from one mental concern to the next.

"s**t. I don't even have eyebrows any more."

It was amazing how important insignificant things could seem.

Awen had just been out for a swim in one of the rivers for awhile that day. Things had been looking up since she had the IV stuck in her awhile ago. Except for the attack that Billy had on her anyway, she still kept his secret even if she wasn't really afraid of him anymore.

She'd felt like being alone for awhile after the night with Lauren and the morning discovering Jamal was out of his cage. Yeah things seemed to be getting a little back to normal around this place. As normal as things could be anyway.

She probably could be heard, and probably smelled, before she ever got to Pyroth but stealth wasn't her goal at the time. She didn't even notice the coyote around until he spoke. She turned in the direction of the beast man and saw him through the trees. It took her awhile to realise this was the same long eared man she had met on her first day to the island but he was much further in his transformation than she had ever seen.

Moving closer Awen couldn't help but gasp. She had seen two other islanders who were further than anyone she had seen before, but this was different and even Awen could tell now. They couldn't be going that far with things could they? Lauren would have known, Aubrey wouldn't allow it, Sabin would never....

Her eyes wide she stepped forward. "Oh my god..." She muttered under her breath. "Pyroth?"

Pyroth was only half listening to his senses as he mused on the problems of this new turn of events, definately aiming to look for the good points. It just so happened that one of the good points he tried to convince himself of was the nose. After all, he had never ever been able to smell in colour, making vision seem obsolete, able to tell where people had been and gone rather than just where they were. It was as he considered his olfactory senses that he actually noticed a scent that hadn't been there before, human but with an unfamiliar blue tinge to it. His nose was proven as he heard Awen head nearer, still not sure who it was.

He all but shied away from the gasp as he heard it though, his ears back against his head, like a scolded dog. Looking up at Awen with his yellow eyes, he was surprised to find that he recognised her. Sure things had changed, but on this island you got used to it.

Flicking his ears back to rest at ease by a mental effort, Pyroth gave Awen a wry grin.

"I'm afraid so. Long time no see."

Awen sat down on hte jungle floor with a surprised look on her face as she looked him over. She noticed how he twitched his ears back and she tried to school her features with little success. She couldn't believe this, what were they doing to him?

She tried on a smile but it was a little forced. "Yeah...it's been a long time..." She took a slow breath and looked down. "Sorry... I know..I mean with everything that's happening I shouldn't look at you like that." She had been on hte other end of such stares a lot lately and the girl knew she didn't like them so how could she turn around and return the stare to this poor fellow? "Just..." She glanced up again. "They're not seriously... I mean..Colche and Amaya weren't like...." She winced and once again tried to clam herself. "Sorry."

Pyroth saw her surprise and inwardly cringed, it really was that bad, eh?

Shaking his head he waved a paw dismissively, he wasn't bothered by Awen's shock, that was to be expected, however, one thing did catch his attention. "Don't worry about it at all, I know this is shocking, it scared the s**t out of me, thought I was done changing." It was only then that he actually got a chance to make note that Awen seemed to be becoming aquatic, he was tempted to ask if that meant gills on the way, but refrained.

"Colche changed again? and Amaya?" he looked slightly worried at this, especially at the fact that neither of them sounded like they had hit anything like he had. Just his luck, wasn't it?

"I take it both of them can still move their arms?" his tone was pretty acrid, directed at those who had put him like this rather than to the other. Just to demonstrate a point, he raised a paw, attempting to bring it level with his head, it didn't reach as far as it had, now very much canine. He let it drop back down and sighed "It's uncomfortable, as though I'm trapped inside muscles that don't fit right."

Awen shook her head. "No they're very much still.... well more human like than you anyway." Seeing Pyroth started something inside of her, a fear of what she would eventually become. She had grown used to the water aspect, fine she was turning into a fish. She was starting to deal with the fact that she might be stuck in the lake perminently if or when she changes next. But Pyroth was turning into...a dog or whatever he was... he couldn't move his arms and everything. Does that mean that Awen would....turn completely into a manta ray? No hands...no feet....nothing normal like that?

She visibly paled at the very thought, which was hard because it was harder to see her face change colour in such a fashion anymore. She swallowed hard and just paced herself for another breath. "I'm really sorry Pyroth... I.... really don't know what to say..."

"Damn." Was the only word that came to mind, he had been hoping that the others might have shown a similar amount of change and without that glimmer of hope, he was in the dark. It was nice to have people like Ambrose in the same boat as you, not to be out on your own.

But whatever.

He had shrugged off worse things than this, and after the initial shock, he wasn't going to let the cameras see him in a state of mental breakdown. No, he'd shove all of the horrible feelings right down out of the way and pretend like nothing was the matter. It was the only way to deal because he knew that if he gave in to that seemingly bottomless pit of panic and despair just beyond his thoughts, he'd go mad. That couldn't happen, his humanity was in his head and it would stay there.

He shrugged -using only his shoulders, his arms couldn't be held spread eagle any more - and said with a degree of gentleness.

"No need to say anything at all." all the questions were there in his appearance and he was sure that the others might now be as worried as he was.

"Anyway. Ignoring..this." he said, curling his lip slightly "How has life on this little island of madness been treating you?"

Awen forced a little laugh. "Like a roller coaster from hell, just like everyone else." She brought her legs up to her chest and wrapped her arms around her knees. "This won't help much but ya know I don't know how much longer I'll be able to breathe air." She shook her head a little. "Came a long way from thinking I was seeing things in the cafe huh?"

Pyroth raised a brow, concern evident in his reply. "Seriously?"
At least he knew what he was turning into was a mammal. It hadn't even occured to him that perhaps turning into a water creature could end up being so much worse. "That would be plain cruel. Surely they would find a way to let you keep your lungs?" Pyroth wasn't a social butterfly - he still enjoyed a chat- but the idea of being trapped in that pressing silence, underwater all but made him shiver.

"I couldn't handle something like that, I can't even swim well." He hated the water, feeling that you were suspended on nothing. It freaked him out.

"And yeah, feels like we've all been here forever." Half a year had felt like half a lifetime so far, days rolling past when you didn't want them to and speeding past when you needed time to think. Speaking of thinking, he had barely slept in two days and that, combined with a little too much pot in his panic was really messing with his head.

"Got over my fear of water with it though." She gave him a half smiletrying to be positive. "I just... hope that you're right. But lots of us had thought we wouldn't be going as far as you have either. I mean... mobility and staying more human and all..." She shrugged a little bit.

She stood up slowly suddenly feeling very uncomfortable. Whether it was the talk of the water, seeing Pyroth like he was or her flaking skin Awen felt the urge to just be emersed in the water. "I..think I'm going to go for a swim, clear my head a bit."

You would get over it, he supposed, if you were forced, just like he was slowly but surely getting over his dislike for coyotes. Being in the body of one changed your veiws a bit, it seemed.

"All we can do is hope that they have a bit of humanity left in them." It was ironic he realised then, that the unchanged scientists seemed to be showing the most detached animosity out of all of the islanders present on the godforsaken rock.

He nodded to Awen, it was understandable. He just wished he could clear his own head, buzzing with instincts, insomnia and other things.
"Sounds like a good plan. I should try and get my own thoughts straight too in the meantime. S'been nice seeing you again, I'll see you around." At least they were alive.

He couldn't decide if that was a good thing or not.

He wasn't thinking straight. Perhaps after a nap it would be better, besides, part of him actually wanted to sleep in the daytime, maybe a doze in the sun would soothe that part of him.

"I'm sure they do... They have to." She gave Pyroth a real smile, concerned but real. "Take care man..."

She turned and headed back towards the river. Scratching her arm as she walked Awen had a lot of mull over in her head. This was the start of another downfall on this roller coaster.

Chubbs had decided to wait to see Lily, he was thinking about what he was going to ask, things he needed to know before he got too pissed and broke her nose. So to give himself a better day, he shuffled his way towards Awens duplex. It had been a while seen he had seen his good friend, he wanted to know if she was fine.

Heading up to her door, Chubbs was hoping she was a lot better and curled his claws up into his fist. He gave Awens door a melody tapping and stood back to wait to see if she was home.

Usually Awen would just call for the person at the door to come in, but decided to start being a bit more hospitable again. She stood up in her tank-bed and paused her game. She stretched a bit before walking towards the door, leaving wet flipper marks in the carpet. By now Awen stopped caring and just let the water seep in.

Glancing quickly out the peep hole, incase Billy was outside her door. A grin came to her face and opened the door. "Hey! Chubbs!" Instantly she jumped into the big man's arms not pausing at the fact he changed since she saw him last and wasn't dazed out.

Chubbs was caught off guard by the glomping manta girl, he stumbled backwards a bit but soon regained his balance. He chuckled and blushed, no one he'd known apart from Joliette, was that excited to see him, Joliette had her reasons though. Chubbs wrapped his arms around Awen, hiding his claws in his hands and picked her up in a big ol hug. Chuckling he spun her around some, he liked doing that, he hoped it would make Awen giggle how he liked to hear. She looked well and he was happy, she had him worried down at the beach.

" Well never seen someone so excited to see lil ol me before"

"Well I hadn't seen you in ages! It's like ya disappeared on me." She laughed and waved him into the duplex when she was set down. "Come in, come in!"

She moved aside to let him in. Awen's duplex has become more personalized in hte passed few weeks, starting with the bed tank. Flowers rested on the table now because Awen thought they were getting a little too much sun. The xbox 360 was now hooked up and everything was set just the comfortable way Awen liked it.

Chubbs wiped his feet at the door and then looked down at himself, the front of him wearing a giant wet patch where Awen just was. He chuckled lightly and shuffled inside with his tail wiggling from side to side. He already was getting use to the feeling of having his shorts and pants hang just under his tail.

" I'm sorry hun, just been getting use to the change and things"

He got inside and looked around, Awen had a good set up here, a lot better than his place. Chubbs wished he had a t.v. or something to keep him entertained, but he knew it'd be smashed if the staff pissed him off. He checked out the tank and guessed Awen needed that now, he was glad the staff weren't complete pricks.

" I came to check if ya were okay, me and Joliette found ya down at the beach that day"

"Don't worry about it Chubbsie. I'm just glad to see you." She paused a second and turned back to Chubbs. "And thanks...for your help at the beach. It's all a bit hazy...but thanks for..everything."

Blinking she looked at a Awen-shaped water stain on his shirt. "And er sorry bout.."

Grinning she looked up again. "And you know I told you you'd be a big ol' teddy bear when ya changed more. It's cute."

She was all over the board at the moment and she knew it, but she just was glad to see her old friend.

Chubbs grinned, he couldn't help it. Awen looked really well and happy and well it was infectious. Chubbs heard the thank you and couldn't resist to joke around. He pulled a muscle man pose and grinned.

" T'weren't nuttin ma'am, all in a days work for Chubbs beach patrol!"

He chuckled and smiled at he joke, then more came rolling out.

" And to think, I was really close to giving ya mouth to mouth, or was it maw to gill? damn"

He mocked his disappointment and grinned, he kept forgetting his teeth though, he sawhimself in the mirror when he grinned, it looked like th disney's beast trying to smile. He looked down at his shirt when Awen mentioned his wet patch and smiled and shook his head. He was about to say it was alright when Awen made him blush with the teddy bear comment and his ears and nose grew tinges of red.

" Aww hey, no fair, just for that you get another bear hug "

He grabbed at her and picked her up in a big hug

Giggling Awen wrapped her arms back around the big and and squeezed as tight as she could. It just so happened that Awen liked Disney's Beast and thought Chubbs had a right handsome smile.

"I reallly missed you ya know. I've barely seen ya since the lights came on...." She gave him another squeeze and then looked around. "Hey uh, want something to eat drink? I keep a store of junk food around lately..."
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 7:58 pm

Chubbs couldn't help it and blushed again, there were two people in this world that made him feel special now, Awen and Joliette. Awen was great, he wished he had met her a long time ago he might have had more esteem than he did.

" Awww geez, make me blush, heh , I'm sorry, I kinda had a bad time after the places opened back up. I wasn't doing to well and kinda took some lone time. Then the change happened and well been bit rough, it's starting to scare me."

Chubbs realised he was putting a down on the mood, he hated that and quickly changed the subject.

" If ya got anything meaty, that'd be good, or umm anything will do, been eating alot lately, been really hungry."

He smiled and ruffled the top of her head then went over to admire her tank.

Awen Nodded along with him listening until he finally perked up his tone and ruffeld her hair. "Hm.. I might have some..beef jerky or something..." She mumbled and turned to a drawer and she started sifting through the junk food that was stored there. She had upgraded since the time she kept it in her nightstand. After the night with Lauren Awen figured that there might be some more of that kind of thing happening so she should stock up.

But finally she found hte pack of beef jerky she promised and wandered over ot hte tank with it. She smiled and handed it to him.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:20 pm

Chubbs grinned seeing the jerky and nodded in thanks, he tore a piece in half in his mouth and found it surprisingly easy to chew for jerky. He chewed away and leaned down near the bottom of the tank and breathed hot breath on the glass. When it fogged up, he wrote " Beware: Kick a** manta girl ", and chuckled lightly.

He really wanted to ask Awen what had happened out at the beach, what exactly had happened to her. But she seemed so damn happy, Chubbs didn't want to bring it up to ruin it.

" MMM meaty, thanks hun. So what ya been up to then hey? part from gettin me all wet.... wait... that sounded wrong"

He chuckled and blushed.
