Maryl had just reached the top of the stairwell as she heard a faint coughing coming from Seth's open door. She hurried on back to Seth's room and set the the breakfast in bed tray down in front of Seth. "I heard you coughing. Are you okay? Do you want me to bring you some medicine?" Maryl leaned in a bit as she asked trying to read Seth's face a bit. She didn't want to seem imposing but this was the sort of reaction she got from some of the nicer nuns at the orphanage.

As Maryl neared in, Seth leaned back a bit. It seemed a bit creepy, and it would have been pretty rude if Seth felt another cough or sneeze coming. Since one didn't come Seth turned a bit and waved her hand, attempting to be nice about it. "I'll be fine, don't worry over me so much. I'll just send dad to get some when he gets back." Giving the pancakes a light drizzle of syrup then picking up the fork, Seth cut into and took a few tentative bites of the stack of pancakes. After swallowing, She took a quick gulp of juice before speaking. "I don't want to drag down on you just because I'm under the weather, that's all." She shook her head and muttered, "Though I'd rather not spread this to you either, and I'd been coughing a lot this morning."

Maryl sighed a bit nervously as she backed away and took a a few steps to open the drapes and let in some more sunlight. "I'm sorry, I remember the nuns would worry over us at the orphanage but only when we were ill like this." Maryl thought it over. Seth's reaction seemed reasonable but then again repelling those who wish to nurse you back to health is a bit strange. Seth clearly wasn't fine now. She couldn't even get out of bed. After taking a deep breath, Maryl walked back over to Seth's bedside and gave her a tight embrace. "Just so you know, it's my job to worry regardless. After all, we're family." She smiled.

Seth remained fairly silent at first, deciding to continue eating. She had never been to an orphanage after all and had never even met a nun before, and Kel didn't seem like the type to fawn or brood over anything. Looking a bit off to the side Seth attempted to apologize. "I get that you want to help me get better, but I'm going to feel pretty bad if you get sick around me too, so..." She was cut off by Maryl hugging her a bit too tight. Being gripped didn't cause Seth to jostle her plate significantly but she did need to adjust. "Thanks..." She said quietly, managing to reach her hands up in an awkward way to return the hug.

Kel yanked the front door open and slung his satchel and coat onto the coat tree. He removed his travel shoes, leaving them at the landing, and took the small bottle he recently purchased from the now suspended coat pocket. At first glance the house was quiet. The living room was a notorious liar on that note, nobody stays in there. He quietly headed on up the stairs to the second floor hall.

Maryl held on tight for a few moments, long enough that she thought she could feel Seth's heartbeat. She opened her eyes as she heard the front door open faintly through Seth's bedroom door. At this point Seth's fever was pretty obvious through her clothes. Maryl slowly let go and smiled. "It may not be real medicine but a hug always made me feel better." She took a few steps toward the door, and opened it a bit wider, peeking into the hall.

Since Seth was already blushing from the fever, her complexion didn't change. She went ahead and finished up her breakfast a bit curious as to why Maryl was peeking out of the room like that. After moving the tray and dirty dishes to the nightstand next to her, Seth stretched a bit and yawned.

Kel reached the top of the stairs, noticing Maryl's face sticking out of the doorway to Seth's room. "Ah, Good morning, Maryl." He called out as he approached the door and waited for a moment. "Can I go through?"

Maryl stepped back and out of the doorway. "Sorry." She apologized to Kel to let him through. Hoping he would do something she clenched her hands in apprehension. "Sarah is really sick right now, can't you help her?" She asked figuring Kel would walk by and see for himself how Seth was doing.

"Way ahead of you, Maryl" Kel sighed. With medicine in hand, he approached the bedside and held the bottle to Seth's nose. "Drink this."

Seth sat still and glanced up at Kel, not moving her head. The contents of that bottle didn't smell very pleasant. "What's this?" She frowned before snatching and taking a quick gulp of the bottle then handing it back.

"It's medicine. Get some rest for now." Kel helped Seth lay back down and rolled the blankets up to her chin before patting her forehead once. Collecting the breakfast in bed tray and placing the empty bottle on it, Kel made his way toward the bedroom door to see himself out. He glanced back once to Maryl and tilted his head. "Come on, Maryl. Let her rest for now." With that Kel started on his way down the hall toward the stairs.

Maryl nodded in understanding "Okay," and began following Kel out the door. As she exited she peeked back in. "Well, I'll be back this evening." She smiled and waved to Seth as she ducked out of the doorway and hurried to her room to get dressed for work. She spent a good half hour getting ready but once she was done she took a good look in her mirror. Taking a few turns to get a better look at the Librarian robe she had a bit of a giggle. "This robe seems a bit over sized. I feel like one of those mountain pilgrims at the temple. . . or a wizard." She gave herself a wink in the mirror then collected her spell book and staff before moving toward the door. She probably didn't need them but she had always traveled with her spell book before. She stuck the staff in her belt and the book in her bag before exiting her room and starting down the hall toward the stairs.

Kel had returned downstairs and taken the orders from his satchel. He sat at the coffee table looking them over with a small note pad to go over them. The design requests were fairly simple. Whether it was a sign of change toward efficiency or just people wanting to shorten time to completion was a small question. Even if they were shooting for efficiency they didn't have cost effectiveness in mind. Those who did usually came directly to the shop with the required materials ready to go. Looking up from his work, kel heard footsteps getting closer from upstairs. He looked over to the base of the stairs since from his angle in the living room the top of the stairwell was obstructed.

Maryl peeked around the corner at the bottom of the stairs to notice Kel over in his chair with some papers in front of him on the coffee table. Since he was looking over at her, she waved gently. "I'm off to work, I'll be back this evening." She paced across the room to her shoes at the door and sat down by them, putting on a comfortable pair of flats in preparation for a possibly long day of walking. As she slipped each one on she tapped her feet against the floor to make sure they were on right and snug.

"Ah, where are you working?" Kel asked. This was actually the first he had heard of it other than Maryl seeking a job some days ago. He went back to looking over his papers to multitask since he could listen and read fairly effectively. He was composing a supply list to know exactly what he needed in order to get started.

"I'm starting today at the great library in the mountains of air to the east. I'm not too sure what they're going to have me do yet. They're supposed to tell me today." Maryl was fairly excited for her first real employment. Being a street urchin was fairly difficult before, and while being at the orphanage had its ups, it was mostly confining. She turned away from kel and raised her arms out to shoulder level to show off her 'librarian's robe'.

Kel immediately recognized that robe. His eyes drifted away a bit as he thought of something connected to that symbol on the back. "It looks good on you", he nodded. "Good luck on your first day, though you should see if they can transfer you to that new library that went up in the castle. I hear it has double the resources, and it is much closer to home." he shrugged. Returning to looking down at the lists, Kel was nearly done. It looked like mundane materials this time. They were fairly easy to come by so finding them wouldn't be difficult. He likely still had some left over in storage.

Maryl was kind of surprised about there being a new library in town. She hadn't heard of it before now and partially wondered why. Though this also meant the castle reconstruction was done. She remembered the uproar in town over the ruins and the supposed fire that had taken place before. Trying not to get lost in thought, Maryl turned back around and curtsied to Kel. "Thanks, dad." In the tilt of her head her eyes widened. Oops! It just slipped out, rolled right off the tongue. She was still in 'family mode' after that chat with Seth about being family. Her face was now beet red, "I'll see home later, bye!" She turned and bolted out the front door and down the steps.
