not all shadows are cast by light...
Gabriel took his longsword out of its sheathe. it was really thin, and not that wide either. and by the way he swung it, you could see that it was really light. "sword it is then." he said now turning serious. "ready when you are." he said and he stood in a fighting stance.
...some are cast by darkness.

Zela watched him as he readied himself watching for patterns or things that could signal an attack."Alright I'm ready but i have two questions. One sword or two, and what's your sword made out of?"

Avery turned to watch the spar, leaning against the wheel. He pondered whether or not he should inform the others that there was going to be a storm...

sadistic author Avery eyed her suspiciously before turning and running to catch the wheel from spinning. The compass was knocked to the ground which caused a moment of speculation before Avery bent to pick it up and place it on top again. When the compass pointed in the right direction (ooc: I forget which way they are headed...west was it?) bic: a satisfied smirk came upon his face. At least he didn't have to redirect the ship. What a bother it was. Avery stared at the horizon joyfully for there were hovering purple clouds that promised nothing but an awful night...well, at least for the other crew. Avery especially like the adventurous(sp) weather that caused adrenaline to course through his limbs; the thrashing waves and ran battering against the woodden frame of the ship.
But he didn't know what feeling would course through him when they reached this place the Captain spoke of. And what about that part of pirates? Avery shivered involuntarily. What an eerie thought... (NorthWest actually. LOL)) Angie noticed a storm on the way and she lightly walked up to the wheel and said to Avery, "The waters will control the ships movement in a storm. So I'll be taking over when it gets here, I know how to handle it, but you will stay by my side so you may learn and I can aid my crew or whatever else needs to be helped." She stood tall, hands resting on her back as if in a slack military style, the rising winds whipping through her hair, bringing it to rest on her chest and around her shoulders.

Avery grinned ear to ear. "Of course, Captain." he said and eyed the storm. Was true that he wasn't experienced with such circumstances and he didn't want to screw up by capsizing(sp) the ship.

Gabriel looked at her "either one is fine, that's your decision. it's a spar, a practise fight, so in a normal fight, I'm not gonna ask if I have to use one or two swords, and what my sword is made of, is a secret. the captain may still know it, that when you get sword training in my old school, you have to create your own sword, because you are the only one who knows what your sword skills are and what you prefer, so to make your good skills be even better, and your bad skills disappear." he explained "if you want to keep it that way that the people do not know your weaknesses, you do not tell them what your sword is made of." he finished then he smiled "so, that was the lesson for today, now lets fight." he said standing really relaxed.

"Yessir I understand" Zela smiles and holds both her swords ready. She immediately goes on defensive keeping her swords positioned to block most attacks.

Angie stood by until they neared the storm, then took the wheel, and told Avery to stay close, and hang tight to the railing as he watched how she maneuvered the ship in the waves that were beginning to increase in speed.

A man drifted, eyes barely open. His throat and mouth were as dry as the desert, his stomach had stopped growling long ago. He was hooked onto a peice of wood, engraved in it was "Nautilus". A flintlock rifle was sluing onto his back. A hatchet was buried into the wood and tied onto his wrist.
His mind was emtpy, the heat was cooking him. He had thoughts of whether he should just let himself be sucked down to the bottom. His mind had been playing tricks on him as he had saw a ship in the distance, coming his way. All he could do was sit, and wait.

Lexi went on with her gazing at the horizion. Something caught her eye, a person? "Hey... uh Cap'n... I think someone is out there." Lexi said leaning over a little more to get a better look. It was definitely a person.

Captain Angie happened to see someone floating in the water as they neared the storm. She told Avery, "Take hold of the wheel, now!" she then shouted to her crew that was finally beginning to slink onto deck, "MAN OVERBOARD!!!" She grabbed a rope, tied it onto the side and threw it at the man who was slowly floating closer to them in the water.

Avery grabbed the wheel and then turned. "Tie down those sails!" He bellowed towards the other sailors who climbed up the shrouds(sp) to follow this order. Without the sails, the ship slowed and Avery looked over the side of the ship eagerly.

The ship grew closer and he realized it was real. He wanted to smile but couldnt move. As a rope was thrown to him and he started to reach for it but in doing so he let go of the wood. He slipped off into the water until the rope tied to the hatchet was taunt. He floated there, head barely above water.

Captain Angie swiftly pulled the rope back, but this time tied it around her waste and dove in. She swam over to the man once she submerged from underwater, she grabbed hold of the man, and yelled to the few gawking sailors to hall (sp?) them back up as she held him tightly around his side with one arm, the other holding the rope.
