Falkner didn't so much as blink as the Kirlia executed a Double Team of its own, though he couldn't help but be impressed by the small psychic's grace. Jett had obviously spent a lot of time training with his Pokemon, as it was shining through right now, and Falkner had no doubt in his mind that this boy was worthy of his badge. The Double Team, however, was of little worry to him. "Use Gust," he called calmly, knowing well that he still had a move that would hit unerringly in Aerial Ace. He wasn't sure he could say the same for any of River's moves, however.
The six birds, all screeching loudly at different intervals, got into formation in the air above the battlefield. The all began to beat their wings, sending several strong blasts of wind sailing down towards the line of Kirlia below, though only one of the attacks was real.

Jett knew how annoying the destined battle of clones was going to be, so he hoped it would end quickly. He was vaguely aware of the limitations of Double Team, mainly the fact that still only the real Pokemon could actually use an attack.
River seemed to understand this, too. The Emotion Pokemon danced about with the copies, flickering amongst the various Gusts cast upon them. Jett called out for a Teleport when the time was right, watching along with his Psychic-type for the damaging Flying-attack.
Finally, one of the clones dispersed under the force of the actual Gust. River leapt to action immediately, using Teleport to flicker above the offending Pidgeotto. Again, a single leg swung down, but the target was different this time. Now the petite limb sought out one of the bird's wings, hopefully exerting enough force to mess up Pidgeotto's wing and tilt the battle even further into their favor.

"Oh hey-" Mike said, turning around.
-it's my favorite person! Milo cheered as he rose from Mike's shadow. However, before either of them could continue their thoughts, the brown haired boy felt his neck snap back and an all too familiar crunch sound signifying his poor nose had been broken yet again. The punch was so strong, Mike felt like his head was going to spin. Milo's actually did (complete with a comical whirling sound). The boy's eyes widened and his mouth flashed a quick grin as he felt the pain course through his body, but the expression faded with the pain. "That just healed, Winona." he groaned, gently putting his hand to his face. Yup, bleeding again. He raised his other hand to halt Kasiya, who was currently being half-heartedly held back by Sasha. The pink haired girl had a look in her eye like she wanted to just let go and watch the fists fly, and Kasiya looked more than willing to go Hammurabi on the purple haired Gym Leader.
Winona drew back her fist, her face redder than a Cheri berry. Her eyes were red and her cheeks showed tear stains. The punch had knocked Mike's hood off and the Gym Leader got a good look at the boy's cut up face and most likely infected forehead scar, which was still emitting a light haze of black smoke.
"What is it with purple haired girls and breaking my nose? First the little German girl and now you." Mike looked over to Mitsu with a stern expression. "Don't you start just because all the cool kids are doing it."
"Oh, Mike." Winona said, a fresh batch of tears running down her face. "What happened to you?" she opened her arms and pulled him into a painfully tight embrace.
"Consistency is also out the window in your pigment category too!" Mike struggled to say as he was being crushed.
"So everything you told me over the phone was true." Winona lightened her grip and leaned back to inspect the boy. "Even the part where you said you..." Mike nodded. The girl gasped, then hugged him again.
"Freshly broken bones, Winona! Freshly broken bones!" Each time Winona squeezed, smoke shot out of Mike's forehead and mouth. Ooh, this is perfect! Milo said with a laugh. She still loves you! After all we did, she still can't let you go! I can't believe it! She really IS an idiot! Hahaha!
After Winona released Mike from her grasp, the boy gathered everyone around and led them to the outskirts of town. Mike hid within the group, which drew significant attention, seeing as it was comprised of not only Lavaridge natives like Keegan and Flannery, but an out of town Gym Leader as well. Thankfully, just as the boy counted on, they kept to themselves and didn't question it, and their trip went on without a hitch.
Not long after they were at the foot of Mt. Chimney. Mike looked up at the volcano. It had been a long time since he had made his way up the once daily traversed path. Nothing had changed. There was the same twisted tree at the base, and the same rock that looked like a Camerupt's hump. Yet, something about it was indeed different. He no longer saw a fun climbing spot in that tree, but a mangled, unfortunate plant, cursed with stunted growth and weak branches. The rock ceased to be a place where he and Keegan would try to cook eggs stolen from his mom's fridge and fail miserably, but just a simple rock of no value to anyone at all. Indeed something had changed since his last trip up; he had.
The boy sighed, and put his tattered backpack to the ground and opened it up. "Alright, guys. Listen up. What we are about to do is really dangerous, but if we play it carefully, we should be able to make it out fine." He lifted his old maroon Magma hood out and put it on, incinerating the black cloak he had taken from the hotel in Cinnabar. "Once we get in we are going to split up into three groups. Keegan, Flannery and myself will take the center hall, Kasiya and Winona will take the left passage and Kilik, Mitsu and Sasha will take the right." Next came the arm bands and pants. "If you come across any equipment I want it destroyed completely. That includes cameras, computers, security consoles, everything. If you come across any grunts or admins...well..." A smile played across his lips. "Don't kill them. Oh no, but make sure they don't escape, either."
Milo chuckled at this part.
At this point Mike had finished putting on his old uniform. He felt his friends eyes all stare as he stood there taking in the moment. At this point it was official.
He had been a member of Team Magma He helped Maxie steal the Red Orb of Hoenn legend. Using that, Maxie had summoned Groudon, who battled Kyogre in the oceans outside Lilycove and caused mass devastation and death.
Somehow, wearing this uniform like this, it was like he was back five years earlier, standing on that same cliff face, overlooking the destruction first hand. He released Nitro and Xanthos and gave them a few commands. The two Pokemon dove underground and weren't seen again. Mike took in a deep breath as he felt the old outfit on his skin, and let out a long, heavy cloud of smoke from his mouth. "Alright. I'm...I'm good. The base isn't too far from here." he said, signalling for everyone to follow him, and to do it quietly.
An hour or so of walking and climbing brought the group to an expansive flat path that lead to a large metal set of doors. Mike motioned for everyone to get down and be silent. He ducked behind a rock and pointed towards the opening. "Two guards. Wait here." Mike checked to make sure that his administrator badge was clearly showing and stood up and walked towards the door. There was a slight skip in his step. Mike approached the door and the two Magma guards. As he got closer, he noticed that he recognized one of them. He was on guard duty five years ago too. He giggled at how mad he was at how fast Mike had risen through the ranks. "This will be wonderful." he said to himself in a sing-song tone.
"Ohhh..." Mike said, scratching his head. "Oh what was it? The password. The password we had to get in. Ugh!" He bobbed his head back and forth as he racked his brain. "What," he snapped his finger. "was," he snapped them again. "It?" and a third time. The two grunts barely had time to roll their eyes before the ground burst from beneath them, and they were pulled into the dirt by a bright red pincer and an orange clawed hand. Their screams caused Mike to fly into a laughing fit, and he jumped into the hole to join them. Nitro and Xanthos had disappeared at this point, but the two grunts were in such a state of shock they didn't notice Mike pounce on top of them.
"Come now! You can't tell me you don't remember me?" Mike said, his voice rising in pitch. "Custom uniform? Administrator? Not ringing any bells?" The larger grunts eye's widened in realization, but not before Mike brought his forehead to his and quickly knocked him out, before pummeling the second person into unconsciousness in a fit of punches and laughs. Nitro and Xanthos poked their heads from the ground and were quickly recalled. Mike climbed out of the hole and let out a sigh of relief. "That was wonderful!" he said, before looking over at a shifting rock beside the door. The rock slid to the side and revealed a camera, which poked its mechanical eye out and looked around, only to find nothing. When it was about to retreat back in, Mike reached up and grabbed it. He heard the gears grind in protest as he pulled himself to the lens.
"Oh that's right!" He said, slapping his forehead in false embarrassment. "We don't have a password for the front door! How could I be so stupid?" He looked back at the camera and smiled. "Did you miss me, Maxie? Did you miss my charm, my wit? I hope so. Because I missed you. Ohhhh yes I did. And I've been dying to play a little CATCH UP!" The boy's hands which gripped the camera so firmly ignited in a massive ball of fire. The machine crackled and popped, and was soon reduced to nothing more than a smoldering hunk of plastic and metal. Mike pulled out another Pokeball and released his Steelix.
"Rip that door down, Titanium!" Mike commanded. It crunched like paper under the Pokemon's powerful jaws, and soon the two doors littered the side of the mountain. The boy grabbed onto one of the Steelix's fins as the Pokemon roared and charged the opening, his laughter echoing the whole way.
Sasha watched in silence as the whole event unfolded before their eyes. The pink haired girl shuddered, recalling Mike's actions at the beach party. She reached out and grabbed Kasiya's hand. "Protégez-vous, mon coup de foudre peu!" She then looked to Keegan. "Et vous aussi, mon petit monsieur." With that, Sasha got up and grouped up with Kilik and Mitsu, who were just about to head inside.
"Oh Mike," Winona said in disbelief. "What happened to you?"

He listened to Mike's every word as if it were the last thing he were going to hear. His eyes were fixed on the volcano beyond the city. Once the other boy had suited out, Kilik silently started hiking up the hills with the rest of the group, and eventually standing with them all outside of the Team Magma headquarters, built right into the side of Mt. Chimney. He watched as the boy brutally attacked the two grunts outside. "Welp," Kilik said, hopping over a rock and started heading towards the front door. "I better have some cover too! But who to pick from?" he ran his fingers along his belt, pondering as he walked rather nonchalantly towards the door. He stood, waiting for his two partners to approach him and he finally decided.
"C'mon out, Cable!" He tossed the ball in front of him. He stood back with a proud smirk as his Electivire materialized in front of them.
The Thunderbolt Pokemon emerged from the ball and landed with a thud onto the dirt, clenching his fists. Electricity showered around him and sparks began to flash between the two LEDs on his tails.
He looked over his shoulder at Mitsu and then to Sasha. "Let's go!" Kilik dashed inside with Cable at his side, veering off to the right.

Feeling the warm sunlight bask down on him, the white haired trainer known as Kai Sakaragi made his easy stride into Route 203... and to an extent, his first real steps as a trainer. With a light grey backpack filled with some basic supplies, a set of empty Pokéballs on hand and determination inspiring him to his very core, he felt entirely ready for the adventure now laying before him... but then again, he had been technically prepared for 4 years, in hindsight.
Sighing a little contently, Kai followed the dirt path away from Jubilife city. The store he owned was given to the capable hands of his mother and assistants, who all seemed to wish him the very best of luck on his travels. Turtwig still remained with him though of course, the "Tiny Leaf" Pokémon currently opting to perch on top of his trainers head somewhat lazily, yawning a little from all the tiring sunbathing. It sort of looked like the boy was wearing a strange turtle-like hat, though the fact it was a living creature was pretty obvious once you noticed its constant, although minor, swaying movements to maintain balance as Kai walked forward. Kai didn't mind Turtwig hitching a ride like this, since sometimes rest is as good as exercise, or so they say.
"Apparently, the first gym we should challenge is in Oreburgh City. Thankfully that's quite close to here, so it shouldn't be too long to get there." Kai started, remembering out loud his plan of action. The boy had decided to challenge the league, which meant acquiring all eight badges of the Sinnoh set...not exactly an easy feat to accomplish considering defeating the gym leaders was quite difficult indeed, but that challenge is what made it so fun and enticing in the first place. Perhaps he could even challenge the elite four afterwards, and with a loyal team behind his back, possibly even give the champion a run for his money... though of course whilst now this was merely a daydream, it was pleasant to ponder at least. "According to the listings I looked up, the gym is Rock type. Since you're a grass type, we should have a natural advantage over them." Kai continued, looking up at his companion... well, as much as possible, anyway. "Wig." Turtwig replied idly, looking back down to meet his masters gaze. "However, you don't know any proper grass moves yet, so I think a fair bit of training is in order to help get your experience up. Besides, I think we should be truly prepared for our first gym battle... don't you?"
"Wig!" the small Pokémon chirped happily, very content to see his trainer being resolute and logical as always. I just wonder thought... where can we find somewhere to train..?" he asked rhetorically- however, fate seemed to take this question literally, and set about giving an answer pretty damn quickly. Out from a nearby bush jumped a rather messy but enthusiastic youngster, complete with generic backwards cap and comfy shorts. Actually, Kai knew this particular person, as he had visited his store in Jubilife fairly recently. "Hey there, Ben... nice to see you again." Kai spoke to the youngster in a friendly tone, smiling a little. Ben just grinned right on back, although his show of joy was a lot more smug... honestly, kids these days have a bit too much pride. "Same to you! Since you're out here with that backpack... I take it you've finally decided to become a trainer, huh?" he asked, getting straight to the point. "Yes, I have" "Well, how about a battle then? Ever since I saw your Turtwig in the store, I've wanted to battle it... the species is pretty rare, so I would like to see what kinda stuff its made of, see."
Pausing a moment to look at his companion, Turtwig showed his own response pretty plainly, hopping off of Kai's head onto the ground, with a spirited glint in his eye. Kai simply nodded, shifting his legs apart slightly to get a better battle stance, instead of just standing there idly.
"Great! Let's go, Bidoof!" Ben shouted out, throwing a Pokéball outward and releasing a small, brown beaver-like creature. Kai knew quite a bit about this species- mainly because it was exceedingly common around this area, and a fair section of Sinnoh in general as well. Bidoof. Normal Type... pretty dim-witted but not exactly overly aggressive either. A perfect first official battle. he thought to himself, assessing the situation.
"Turtwig, bolster your defences! Use Withdraw!" the white haired boy commanded, to which Turtwig obeyed immediately, concentrating a little before shifting a bit, allowing his "shell" to toughen slightly. Bidoof's main attack at this kind of level was tackle, so increasing Turtwig's normal defence would decrease the amount of damage it could do considerably. However, it seemed Ben also wanted to alter Turtwig's stats a bit. "Bidoof, growl!"
Making what seemed to be an extremely poor attempt at a roar that more so came out like a cackle, Bidoof used one of its more irritating attacks. Though slightly confused by this laughable display, Kai knew Turtwig's normal attack would be reduced slightly from hereon... and considering the only offensive move he knew was tackle, this made things harder. Unfortunately, it seemed neither combatant wanted to give the other the edge- and after 8 rounds of commands, neither Bidoof or Turtwig had used tackle, instead increasing defence stats and lowering attack stats to a miserable point.
Without much more to do, Kai finally decided to take action. "Turtwig, tackle that Bidoof!" he called, pointing to the target. "Turt..!" Turtwig called back, shambling forward, before giving Bidoof no more than a gentle nudge. "Bidoof, tackle back!" Ben ordered, Bidoof shunting lightly into Turtwig's now almost steel-like hide, hardly making a scratch. What began to happen next wasn't exactly the most fascinating of events- with both Pokémon slowly dealing incredibly miniature damage to each other, attempting to whittle down the other before the opponent could do it to them. Due to this rather unlucky and unfavourable situation, both Ben and Kai gave out a collective sigh...
You know, being a freshly starting trainer wasn't exactly as thrilling as the masses make it out to be sometimes.

One had to admit, this battle was going very well for Leon and Muuma. He couldn't say he was particularly surprised, however, as Muuma was a decent level. "Alright, Muuma, I think we're close to finishing it off," Leon said encouragingly--though it would've sounded just as dull as ever to anyone else, probably--to his Pokémon.
The Misdreavus was rather proud of herself, but before Leon could get out his next command, she felt something interesting inside of her and decided to go with it. Her eyes began to glow blue as a purple mist began forming around her, moving into a circle above her head. A large eye suddenly opened in the middle of the circle and began sending waves of blue and purple energy at Nosepass.
Leon was pleasantly surprised by this attack, though he had absolutely no idea what it was called. It was probably a bit creepy looking to some trainers, but he personally liked it.

Professor Elm's brow furrowed, and he got down on his hands and knees to peer under his desk. "Ah, I see. There you are," he said, prompting another terrified squeal from Paras. "I'm not going to hurt you, little fellow," he said gently, trying to reassure the Mushroom Pokemon. It was to no avail, however, as Paras didn't want to have anything to do with the bespectacled professor. The Chikorita that had been sitting patiently alongside the other two Pokemon hopped down, also peering under the desk to see the frightened Paras, though the bug and grass type was far less afraid of the Leaf Pokemon. The Cyndaquil seemed rather indifferent to the whole situation and remained seated upon the desk, occasionally nudging the Pokeball he'd previously been contained within. He was sleepy, and wanted to go back inside, especially now that he knew this boy wasn't going to be taking one of them with him. The young Totodile, like the Chikorita, was intrigued by the Paras and hopped down from the table as well, though instead of just peeking under the desk tried to wedge itself under, causing Paras to squeal in fright once more.
"Hey, get out of there, you're scaring him," Jasper said, nudging the gator with his foot. Undeterred, the Totodile clawed at the ground, trying to gain enough traction to pull itself under the desk. Paras cried out again, this time releasing a burst of glittering, golden powder. It fell just shy of the Totodile's snout, but it was enough to cause it to sneeze violently, and thus smacking its tiny head against the underside of the desk. The poor gator flailed wildly, causing books and papers and even a coffee mug to tumble down from Elm's desk and shatter into hundreds of tiny fragments.
Jasper quickly reached down to try and pull the Totodile out. Elm's eyes went wide. "Hey, wait a second! Watch out for Totodile's-"
He didn't get to finish that sentence as a split second later, the Totodile's head had snapped around and it chomped down on Jasper's arm, causing the youth to curse loudly and stagger back. Fortunately, it was enough momentum to get the gator unstuck, though the moment it saw what it had done, it released its hold on the boy, eyes welling up with tears. Elm had reached for the water type's Pokeball, but the gator dodged the red beam and went running full-tilt out of the office, hopped up onto a side table, knocking over a lamp and a vase of azaleas before jumping through the open window to freedom.
Jasper, Professor Elm, and the remaining Pokemon all stared out the office door in awe, trying to process what had just happened. "That went well," Jasper grumbled sarcastically, rubbing his Totodile-bitten arm. * * * * * * * * * * Keeping as quiet as possible, Cynder hopped down from his rock and tiptoed over to where the purple miscreant was busily trying to chew through Hayely's backpack. She didn't sense anything was up until a large shadow had suddenly blocked out the sun. Confused, the Rattata looked up, whiskers twitching when she saw the orange lizard glaring down at her, clawed hands resting on his hips. A low growl emanated from the Charmander's throat, and without warning he lashed out and gave the mouse a swift kick in the side, sending her tumbling back a few feet with a surprised squeak. Unaware of the situation, Hayley slumbered away, muttering something to herself about the average wingspan of a Pidgey.
Cynder stomped over to where the Rattata had come to a stop, very much intending to try and cause her more hurt for trying to steal his girl's food. The mouse scampered to her feet, nimbly hopping off to the side to avoid a swipe of the Charmander's claws. This only made Cynder angrier, though he glanced back over his shoulder to make sure they were far enough away from Hayley. The Rattata took this opportunity to launch herself forward and slam the Charmander's stomach with a full-on Tackle. Cynder staggered back a few steps, snarling angrily. He could feel a surge of heat building up in the back of his throat and he took a few steps forward, opening his mouth wide and spewing out a burst of flames. Again, the agile mouse was just able to dodge out of the way, and she stared at the scorched ground in awe, very glad the Ember attack hadn't hit her.
Nearby, Hayley stirred a bit, vaguely aware of the commotion going on around her. Though she wasn't quite awake yet, she could hear Cynder's angry growls. "Cynder, don't be angry at it," she mumbled sleepily, without opening her eyes. Both Pokemon stopped for a second at the sound of the girl's voice, but soon the Rattata was attacking again, this time zigzagging across the ground in a Quick Attack.

"It stinks in here." I mentioned to say while holding my breath, Yes, I fell into the sewer from that damned hole Zii created in the road. I just received the payment from that circus freak and then Officer Jenny shot around the corner! She surprised Zii and me, so in a reflex both of us jumped back. we both fell back into the underground tunnel system that I know of as the sewer. Officer Jenny did not follow us, but she did stay above the hole for a good minute or two. We were not going to wait for the blue haired person of authority to come down and catch the culprits who destroyed the alleyway's floor. So, we began our way deep into the sewers of North Petalburg. I managed to understand that no trainer has ever been down here. They have got to be completely insane to be down here. So, does that make me insane? I can live with that if it does, but Zii doesn't seem phased by the sewers. I wonder if something is wrong with his nose. "Zii, you okay? It stinks down here and you still walk as if nothing is happening." Zii shrugs and taps his nose. He shrugs again and continues behind me. I guess there is nothing wrong with his nose. I do remember when Zii and I saw each other. I flipped open my pokedex and figured out he is immune to poison. Maybe him being immune to this smell is a part of that. I don't get it. Zii is only immune to poison, not muck farts. But he can not smell the air... There has got to be a meaning behind this. But, I'll worry about that later. I stop as something moves in front of me. I begin to laugh, and I choke on a small bit of vomit that rises from my throat. I choked because it smells like pokemon dung, but I laughed because I see a pokemon in front of me which I'm quit familiar with. I have to have it! "Zii, lets get this Grimer!" --------------------------------- Well then, after running for sometime I have realized something about myself. I may be laid back, and good with the girls; but I am also popular with the wing type pokemon as this Pidgeot is still chasing me. Oh, and I figured out I can run very fast and for a long period of time while running for my life. I must have sustained a lot of endurance by not employing my true potential during physical exams and classes. I did hold back on many occasions during the academy.
While running I manage to dodge a few gust attacks from this bird. I also manage to dodge a few close combat maneuvers. I'm amazed at this Pidgeots faith that I am the one who was menacingly teasing it's children. This bird is either very angry, or very stupid. I'm hoping it is not a solution of both.
My breath is coming short now and I have to do something. Luckily for me there is an infestation of trainers on the road I am currently running toward. I'll have to pull a run by need and assist message on many of the trainers.
I zoom by a few trainers and they blink in wonder of why a pidgeot is trying to make me it's dog. I even manage to see a cute brunette messing with a charmander and a small mouse pokemon. But, sadly I jump over her backpack and continue running ahead. I'm not in the best situation to get any communication besides the occasional, 'help me.' and 'please help.' from me.
As I was feeling like hope has left me, due to my lungs being stabbed by nature. I'm not as endurable as I thought. My chest felt like it was about to burst! But, to my luck, a large swarm of beedrill attack the pidgeot. I'm assuming the beedrill do not like the bird in their territory. So, as they are bickering in their massive battle, I take this as my cue to hide. I find a large bush with many leaves, and I jump into it. I lay my head down and look into the breakage of foliage to stare at the clouds.
"Who was that egg thief?" Is the only thing that came into my mind as my eyes closed for an anonymous amount of time.

A soft breath left Maxie's lips as he lifted a finger to halt the feed on the now cut feed. "Doesn't he know that those things cost a fortune?" said the crimson haired man as he tried to enjoy the last of his tea. It was a wonderful blend, but it had been sullied by recent events. The Magma leader gently placed the cup on its matching plate and sighed. "That boy. He always takes things so personally." He pressed another button on his desk. After a slight bit of static, the loudspeakers turned on all over the lair. The grunts stood up at attention immediately as Maxie's voice came over the airwaves.
"My loyal and hardworking followers," he began. "Today, much to my annoyance, an old, festering and best forgotten wound has been reopened. Those of you who have been with this organization for some time may remember a former administrator by the name of Mike Kyoka. Due to some...conflicting agendas Mike left our humble organization many years ago. Today he returns, fancying himself a destroyer. Mike seeks to dismantle all that we have worked so hard to build up. Has he been sent by Archie? Giovanni? This I do not know for certain. What I do know, however, is that left unchecked, this boy could cause an irritating amount of damage. We cannot let that happen. We have worked too hard to let the wheels come off by some unstable little upstart. I would like you, my righteous and iron-willed men and women, to put a stop to this boy. Use what force is necessary, but I want him brought to me alive. This is a code red. I repeat, a code red."
Maxie took in a deep breath, sat back into his chair and closed his eyes. Any moment now he would hear a knock on the door and his faithful grunts would come in dragging that boy behind him. "What a nuisance. Cannot trust Giovanni to do anything."
------
"A code red? He really does remember me." Mike said with a giggle.
Titanium tore through the halls of the Magma compound with Mike hanging from his side fins. The dirt and rocks scraped against the massive Steelix's iron coat as he slithered at top speed. They had long passed the junction where the group would split into three teams, and now Mike and his Pokemon were making their way down the center hallway. So far, no grunts had shown up to oppose them. "Must have caught them off guard." Mike said to himself. As he turned to look at the path ahead he saw a blue blur shoot past and a rush of wind hit him in the face. The shock caused him to let go from the speeding Steelix, who thankfully heard his trainer's yelp and spun around to catch him in his mouth and set him down on the ground.
"You are seriously the best, Titanium." Mike said, giving his Pokemon a quick pat on the side before looking for what almost hit him. Sure enough, a lone Magma grunt stood in his way, tossing what Mike would assume was a now empty Pokeball up and down into the air. Spoke too soon, it would seem.
"You the kid the boss is talking about?" he said with a smirk. Mike said nothing in reply, only returning the cocky smirk with one of his own.
"That's enough for me! Golbat, Wing Attack!" A loud shriek could be heard from above as the bat Pokemon swooped down to take another shot at the boy. Not having any of it, Titanium moved in front of his trainer and smacked the Golbat out of the sky with his tail. The Poison Pokemon crashed into the ground with a pathetic flop and was quickly recalled. Titanium roared in victory and Mike's smile grew even larger.
"Last chance to run away before something really shitty happens." the boy said with a smile.
"Not a chance!" the grunt replied, taking out another Pokeball. "Go!" Out from the ball came a rather fierce looking Mightyena, its fur was matted and its snout was riddled with scars.
"Take a breather, Titanium." Mike said as he recalled his Steelix. "Besides, I want to see how your new form works." Letting a Pokeball fly, Napalm was released onto the battlefield, his weight causing the ground to shake as he landed. The Magmortar stood tall and proud against his opponent. The immense heat from his body distorted the air around him and it was all Mike could do to keep himself from gushing over his newly evolved Pokemon right then and there. "Beautiful! Simply exquisite! I'm sorry I'm wasting your time with such a weak foe, Napalm but I just have to see you in action!"
"W-what's that?" the grunt asked, somewhat shaken. Once again Mike refused to answer his question, and replied simply with a maniacal cackle as Napalm got into a ready stance.

Bidding the old man farewell Jason was ready to continue his adventure. Jumping off the boat that brought them into Canalave early was definitely a bad idea, but he didn't have time to worry about that now. His clothes were dry and his pokemon rested, it was time to keep things moving! Pokedex in one hand and Sketch pad in the other Jason waited for his Pokenav to finish downloading it's latest update. It would be silly to traverse the region without a proper map after all. Putting his other equipment away Jason started to wander through the city, not looking at all where he was going as he stared at the map screen of his pokenav, annoyed by the blank screen with the words 'UPDATING' flashing in big red letters. "Come on come on come on!" He said mostly to himself as he nearly walked into half a dozen people, saved only by Zeus hovering around him and nudging him slightly from one side to the other to avoid the other pedestrians. The device pinged when it was finally finished, the blank screen soon replaced by a large overlay of the entire Sinnoh region, zooming in several times until it was showing Canalave City. Jason grinned as he started to scroll around trying to figure out his next destination. "Ah nice! Check it out Zeus, this region is practically bisected by a huge mountain! Mt. Cornet is says here, must be awesome. Let's see here... there's a place close by called Iron Island. Sounds awesome, we'll have to check that out at some point! But shoot, no way am I getting back in a boat right away, not after that long trip. No sir! Wait..." Upon looking at the map further and Canalave's surrounding routes it became clear that there was water all around. "...shoot. Oh well, it looks like a short water rout, won't be so bad. Then we can hit Jubilife City! Ooo and it looks like a big one too! Alright Zeus, let's get moving!" With that Jason tucked the Pokenav away just in time to spin around a rather portly woman who looked at him furiously as he started to sprint away. Zooming through the gate from Canalave to rout 218 Jason came to the water almost instantly. "...I see nothing...." Out in the water was a small ferry that was clearly for transporting fine fellows such as himself, but it was leaving now, he just missed it. Jason was two seconds away from jumping into the water and swimming for it when he spotted the grass patch nearby with some rustling grass, in fact he was already at the water's edge hands out and in the proper diving position, but he quickly zipped over to the grass forgetting all about Jubilife. "What have we here? let's get a closer look Zeus." He said with a grin as he dove to the ground as quietly as he could and started to inch closer and closer towards the noise. And there is was, a small pink and white pokemon, the likes of which Jason had never seen. It had bumps on it's head and a yellow mouth, with a white underside. The pokemon was just sitting by the water's edge, probably about to go for a swim. "Oh man, what's this thing?" Jason already had his pad out and was sketching away when the mysterious pokemon noticed him and jumped back. Startled by Jason and the floating metal orb that was Zeus hovering by his shoulder the pokemon started to attack, shooting a jet of water at the two. "Woh!" Was all he could say as Zeus jumped in front of Jason to take the hit, the water rolling off of him fairly harmlessly. "Alright Zeus use thundershock now!" Jason caled out as he jumped up to his feet, Zeus wasting no time as it unleashed a jolt of electricity from it's magnets square on the little pink pokemon. The electricity appeared to be very effective as the pokemon cried out in pain and retreated slightly, much to Jason's relief. "Sorry about that little one, but you attacked first you know. Now let's see what you are." He said as he pulled out his pokedex and scanned the pokemon.
"Shellos - The Sea Slug Pokemon. Its color and shapes differ from region to region. In the Sinnoh region, two types are confirmed."
"Hey that's pretty cool right? This thing has two different colors here it says. Man I gotta check this out!" Jason said with much excitement, oblivious to the continuous cries of the Shellos that were followed by a much different and much angrier cry.
"Gastrodon - The Sea Slug pokemon. It has a pliable body without any bones. If any part of its body is torn off, it grows right back"
"Gastrodon?" Jason was confused to see the pokemon on the dex change as another definition was given. The one it now showed was pink but also had a brown back and what looked like horns on it's head. "Huh, weird." Looking up from the dex to ask Zeus what he thought was going on Jason came to see the same pokemon from his pokedex, much angrier though, looking back at him. Much larger than the Shellos, which appeared to be sitting next to Gastrodon , and enraged Jason could only come to reason that this was parent and child. "Awesome! Can you two stay put while I sketch you real quick?" Pencil already scratching away on the page Jason was just barely pushed out of the way by Zeus as a much more powerful water gun came his way.

Keegan had to admit that he was more than a little surprised to discover that it had been none other than Winona that they'd been waiting for, and even more so when she cleaned Mike's already badly damaged clock even though he had trouble holding back his laughter. It wasn't much longer before the group was finally on the move, and Keegan wasn't sure if he was feeling excitement or dread for the upcoming event. A part of him really wanted to put all of this behind them, yet at the same time he knew it was going to get ugly. Very ugly.
The first indication that things were starting to turn ugly was only a few short moments after they'd finally arrived at the Team Magma base itself. After receiving a few short instructions from Mike, who by this point had donned his old uniform, it was go time. As the group ducked behind a rock, Mike walked toward the entrance, which was being guarded by only two grunts. This isn't going to end well for them, the redhead thought, watching as they were first caught off-guard by the Crawdaunt and Charizard's sneak attacks and then promptly pummeled into submission by Mike himself. It was brutal, more so than Keegan had been expecting, and he found himself flinching slightly as the Steelix then proceeded to tear the door down like it were made of simple paper, and just like that they were in. "Here we go," he muttered, nodding to Sasha as she, Mitsu and Kilik proceeded to head to the right. He looked over at Kasiya, who'd been paired up with Winona. The two girls were just about to head in themselves when he grabbed the blonde by the arm. "Look," he told her, his voice no louder than a harsh whisper. "I know things haven't been perfect between us lately, but take care of yourself in there, and don't do anything stupid, all right?" He kissed her cheek before turning and running down the hall after Mike and Flannery, PokeBall in hand. He had to be careful to hop over chunks of fallen debris that had been kicked up by the Steelix.
"Where is everybody?" the redhead muttered, idly remembering Mike's previous orders to destroy everything. He could hear a commotion up ahead, and he assumed that Mike had finally encountered some resistance. The redhead slowed his pace as he spotted a screen built into the rocky wall, which he assumed was meant for communications throughout the base. The redhead smirked and picked up one of the many rocks that Titanium had dislodged, taking no more than a second of thought before he hurled it through the glass, laughing with satisfaction as shards of glass rained down on to the ground below.
"Hey, you're going to have to pay for that!" came a voice from nearby, and Keegan turned to see a Magma grunt coming up from behind them, PokeBall at the ready. "I can't believe they've issued a code red over a couple of stupid kids!" He released a rather dopey-looking little Numel, which looked like it would rather be anywhere but here. "Get 'em!"
Keegan didn't respond; he only continued to smile as he released Althena. The Golduck didn't look all that impressed by her opposition, folding her clawed hands over her chest and glaring at her trainer. "I know it's not worthy of your abilities, but I promise there'll be much more action after this," he told her, as the grunt had ordered a Magnitude attack from his Numel. Althena glared at the smaller creature, the gem in her forehead flashing briefly before she held up a single finger, which glowed with a bright blue aura. With a simple flicking motion, the Numel was flung back into his trainer, knocking them both to the ground. "Too easy," Keegan mumbled, as Althena nodded in agreement. ===== Again, Falkner couldn't help but be impressed by Jett's creativity, but the move was called Double Team for a reason. Though there was a small chance that River's leg could have connected with the real Pidgeotto, it seemed they had guessed wrong this time around and the leg sailed harmlessly through one of the bird's copies, causing it to wink out of existence. It was also easy to pinpoint the real Kirlia, and Falkner didn't hesitate to issue his next command.
"Quick Attack, hit it before it can recover from the fall!" the blue-haired gym leader called. The bird and its remaining clones screeched loudly, each zipping through the air and coming towards the falling River from several different angles.

Jett felt incensed; he had sworn that they found the solid Gust when one of the Rivers was destroyed! The actual River didn't seem too happy, either. He winced, watching the telltale dash of white light he came to know as Quick Attack. If we let this get away again, he'll fall back into the Double Team strategy. Keep on the offensive...
"River, hold on!" Jett called, exchanging a look with his partner that conveyed the main purpose of his plan. The Emotion Pokemon would've smiled, had there not been several birds darting all around with malicious intent. The fall continued, allowing several of the Double Teamed Pidgeottos to disperse if they decided to try to connect. As the Psychic-type braced for impact, a Confusion began to charge.
When the actual Pidgeotto hit, River winced but now she knew the real Pidgeotto among the clones. A second or two after the impact of the Quick Attack, River loosed the Confusion upon the still close and very real Pidgeotto, hopefully sending the bird spiralling and crashing somewhere.

Again, Falkner had been expecting the Kirlia to counter with something like that, and again he knew there wasn't much he could do about it. He couldn't keep falling back on the Double Team strategy, as it would only work for so long. The Confusion hit solidly, the bird's pitiful defenses against special attacks really not working in its favor, and it began to fall. Deciding then that he had been bested, Falkner recalled the falling bird, saving it from further and unnecessary harm. The remaining copies from the Double Team had vanished as well, and the blue-haired gym leader smiled and pushed his bangs out of his eyes.
"Well done," he said, offering an appreciative nod in his challenger's direction. "You've won, and therefore have earned the Zephyr Badge." He held up a glittering, silver object and beckoned for Jett and River to approach him. When the boy was near enough, he placed the badge in Jett's palm, as well as offering him a small pouch containing his monetary winnings. "You've also earned a TM, though you may only choose one: Roost, which replenishes up to half of the user's health at the cost of grounding them and rendering them vulnerable to Ground-type attacks, or Aerial Ace, which is reliable in the sense that its accuracy isn't affected by moves such as Double Team or Sand-Attack. Go ahead and choose whichever you'd like."

Jett's tense posture and fierce looks seemed to freeze when he saw the Pidgeotto recalled. Doesn't that mean... He blinked dully, trying to process what was happening. It was as if, in the back of his mind, he expected to lose yet again. But he hadn't. He won his very first badge.
"T-thank you," he stammered, trembling with joy as he took his rewards. Jett was slightly confused at the choice between TMs; that hadn't been in anything he had read, but he appreciated the option of choosing instead of randomly receiving one of the two. After thinking about it for a few seconds, he decided. "Aerial Ace, please." After collecting his rewards, he grinned at the blue haired youth.
"Thank you so much for such a great battle," he said. "It was an honor." He recalled River, whispering a fervent "Thank you" before doing so. After another glance back at Falkner, Jett sort of nodded and hurried back to his redheaded friend, beaming at him.
"Let's go!" he said excitedly, heading to the elevator and descending, dragging Scarlet along with him. Then they got outside, into the fresh air, and Jett inhaled deeply as he let it all sink in. Perhaps now his travelling buddy could tell him exactly where he went now.

Whilst it felt like an eternity and then some had passed, it finally appeared that the battle between Kai and the youngster Ben was coming to a close, with Bidoof finally tipping over into a faint after being out-prodded by Turtwigs tackle attack. Whilst Ben did let out a dissapointed groan, he wasn't exactly dissapointed to have this ordeal end, at least. "Well... I guess you win, fair and square." he conceded, returning his Bidoof to its ball. Smiling, Kai went over to Turtwig and gave him a pet on the head for a job well done. "Good work... I guess that's our first victory, huh? Here's hoping we can continue to win." he said cheerily, before turning to his former opponent and nodded as Ben retreated back to Jubilife city to give his Pokémon some well earned rest and healing.
"Right... let's keep going then." Kai spoke accordingly, breaking into a walk forward with Turtwig trailing alongside him this time instead of perching ontop of his head... that battle had got him riled up, but he still needed some more training. "This should do, I think."
The duo approached some taller grass on the side of the path, which contained a variety of species that Turtwig could potentially fight against for training. And as luck would have it, such a Pokémon was quite happy to prove this trend true, as not a couple of steps after walking in, Turtwig was attacked by a rather persistant starly. "Great! Turtwig, let's start this off properly... use tackle!" Kai ordered, pointing toward the bird. Turtwig lunged forward, smashing directly into the bird as hard as he could, sending it back a few feet fluttering its wings properly trying to mantain balance. "It's a flying type, to be careful."
Nodding at his trainers careful warning, Turtwig positioned his legs accordingly, bracing for any oncoming attacks. "I think we should prepare a little better though... use withdraw." the young trainer commanded, Turtwig concentrating a little whilst his hide hardened. As far as Kai had observed at this sort of level Turtwig was best off concentrating on boosting his regular defences, since most Pokémon of this stage preferred to use physical attacks, like tackle. And just as predicted, Starly indeed swooped in, hitting Turtwig in the side with a tackle attack. Though the tiny leaf pokémon winced a bit after taking damage, he remained resolute... couldn't dissapoint his master so soon now, could he? "Turtwig, tackle!" Kai called out, Turtwig bursting into a run- however, it seemed starly had the strength and brains to fly away this time, causing the attack to miss... however, it couldn't hover around for that long, eventually landing once again. Kai wouldn't give it time to get its bearings, though. "Keep it up, Turtwig! Aim for the wings!"
"Wig!" Turtwig cried, lunging straight toward his target and this time connecting almost perfectly. Starly yelped a bit in pain, its left wing now too damaged to work properly- making it a sitting duck (or just bird in general) now. However, even in its prone state, it had some fighting spirit, pecking Turtwig's face angrily. Turtwig flinched, this attack being super effective- but a quick retaliation with a tackle attack to the face quickly stopped Starly's antics, fainting it.
"Wonderfully done Turtwig... now let's see if we can find some more wild pokémon to train with..."
