Anders and Melvin made mad dashes to the sides of the room, moving faster than an unburdened human could. The one at the front turned around and loosened his tie, beginning a slow walk towards Fyrin.

Fyrin's shield crackled to life. "Keep away from him," Fyrin advised the gentlemen around him. He had this sneaking suspicion the little SOB would do some serious damage. He cracked out the fireball whip; if it touched it would detonate, and probably powerfully.
His men, meanwhile, emptied a magazine after tracing along the vampire's path. They probably weren't as physically fast, but they could follow targets quickly - they had training. Their rounds exploded, obviously.
((Okay.))

"Good luck catching them. They spend a lot of time being shot at - especially with sweeping automatics," the vampire approaching Fyrin taunted, twitching a little to dodge the fireball whip and continuing his approach. His lackeys were modulating their speeds to make predicting their path impossible.

"Flashbangs!" Steven shouted. Millions of candlepower in light - difficult to resist for vampires, and since his men were dead, they wouldn't be affected. They all pulled a flashbang or two from their vests, and after 1.5 seconds, six seperate flashbangs detonated - two towards Melvin, three towards Anders, and a stray one towards the vampire engaging Fyrin.
Fyrin himself took a step back, allowing the bandage to rewind itself to his forearm. He waited to see what the flashbangs would do.

The vampires kept going. The vampire with the hammer was swinging it at one of Fyrin's men's face and the leader was advancing steadily.
"I don't see what you meant to do by stripping us of power for a split-second, but that wasn't even sunlight," he said with a laugh.

Steven (who was the potential victim) ducked, reloaded very, very speedily, and rolled up from behind, switching to single fire and popping off individual shots. George pulled a grenade from his vest and pulled the pin, making as though to through it at the hammer-carrier but instead tossing it across the way to the one with the sword. Vlad and James, both seeing the others in trouble, stowed their rifles and drew knives, setting them ablaze.

The hammer wielder spun around and kicked Steven, sending him sprawling as his kneecap shattered. He swung his hammer down at Steven.
The swordsman jumped, bounce off the wall, rolled to the side, jumped back and landed at the base of the wall, then began to circle them at absurd speeds, waiting for an opening.
The vampire leader suddenly shoved off his back foot so hard the floor dented as he was launched forward, sending a flying knee at Fyrin's face.

Fyrin casually shifted his weight onto his left foot, bent his knee slightly, and allowed his shield to send the leader flying off right past him, his knee and foot both missing by inches but far enough that if they shifted they'd just hit shield.
Steven grumbled at a broken kneecap but instead of dodging poured power into an air dart straight up into the hammer that ought to send it elsewhere.

As the air blast launched the hammer away, the vampire wielding it spun it around in an arc into a golf-club-like shot towards Steven's ribs.
--
The vampire swung his foot down, allowing the shield to spin him and slamming his hands at the back of Fyrin's head.

Steven kicked out at the vampire's legs, hard enough to force him to move and miss or get hurt.
---
Fyrin again casually shifted - not as casually, but still casually - forcing the vampire to lose his grip on the shield, which with a little molding slid him right off it and sent him careening toward the ground. Immediately Fyrin turned and stepped back with one foot, leaving himself in a ready stance again.

Joe nodded slightly. OK. In that case, I need some advice. Kill them and bust out, or wait and see what happens?

Your cover's blown already, really, but the choice is yours, the gauntlets replied.

Steven's kick met the vampire's leg, but it was like trying to kick down a pillar. The hammer crashed into his side.
The vampire leader landed in a handstand and kicked at Fyrin. Why was it everyone they turned upside down could do that?

Can they activate at will? He looked around the layout of the guards. If they need to make a move to activate their shields, then I'm willing to bet that I'm faster. He looked to the door. Tyrg. What can you tell me about their combat style, shielding, weaknesses, etc.?

Fyrin moved ever so slightly, pushing the vampire's leg over his head while moving to and performing a sweep kick at the vampire's hands. As he spun for the sweep kick, he let out the fireball whip of bandage and struck again.
Steven's ribs cracked and he went spinning away, leaving behind: a fragmentation grenade with the pin pulled and cooked off by at least two or three seconds.

They activate automatically, I think, but a nonmagic attack might nail them before they can manually turn it on, the Titan's Fists answered. All I know of Tyrg is they're huge on thaumaturgy-altered technology. Bullets that can pass through walls, grenades that shoot lightning... stuff like that.
--
Fyrin's strike knocked the vampire's hands out. He landed hard on his back, but the fireball whip cracked against the ground beside him, singeing him without taking away any of his vital bits.
The hammer vampire promptly kicked the grenade. It flew into the bank of displays and exploded, shattering the whole set and exposing the wall behind them.
