Woot! Go Flutes! As quoted by the Andover Band: Woodwinds Kick Brass. I love my flute, despite the fact that out of 7 flutists in my class; Only 4 play. I play the second best...as in dynamics and everything. I'm in what they call Band Level 2 and I can already play vibrato and double tongue. Plus I can play the highest and lowest notes. But I'm always stuck with 2nd parts because I think my band teacher hates moving the flute around...or he just hates flutes...He's a flutist-ist.

my flute is currently being repaired, and i'm scared as hell for it; it's never been broken before.
someone took the headjoint out and dropped it on pavement, and dented the end so it no longer fits in the middle section.
if i don't have it back by the 14th i will have a major meltdown; i have a festival coming up and i'm first chair this year =|
so over break i can only practice some stupid piccolo solo that i never wanted in the first place =/

Heh, the flutes are obviously the greatest! Was there ever any doubt? Sure, we're known as the cattiest members of any given band (understandably), and sure, we're excluded from the awesome perks that the other band members enjoy (i.e. drum corps and jazz band). But we still rawk sooooo hard. We were the smart ones when we signed up for band-- we got the easy cases and front row seats for concert season.

yea flutes-I love the community band I play in curently-theres only 4 flutes usually,so as compared to the hs band, theres a lot more part wise to chose from.^^but we only practice together once a week and do really long breaks, so thats not so great

fullyalive0 xXbluefoxXx fullyalive0 xXbluefoxXx fullyalive0 GENIUS thats a wonderfull plan... twisted Yep! Ooh and we could put like, 50 metronomes in there, all going at different times, so while they're rolling down the hill, they'd be driven mad by the metronome! It bothered the heck out of me when my band director used one once, so I know 50 has to be torture! twisted ILL GO GET DR BEAT it gets loud and it can do diffrent things! like actually count...it get evil... twisted twisted twisted Bwahaha! They will all regret the day they decided to mess with the guy I like! twisted wow...what about makeing fun of the other guy flutes... ANYWHO dont forget that when the decide to no longer make fun of guy flute then they also become our slaves to do our chores and clean our instuments and do what ever we tell them to *starts listing embarassing things for them to do* twisted twisted twisted twisted twisted Lol sorry. Sometimes I get a little carried away with my individual problems sweatdrop . So yeah. They will regret making fun of all guy flute players, in general, because they know, that guy flute players are way more awesome then they'll ever be! blaugh and yeah...they could make us breakfast, take out the trash, clean our toilets, and other stuff that we don't feel like doing! blaugh

Quote: Um...duh? I got rid of them the second week of beginner band a couple years ago. Hah well then my school SUCKS, because only 3 out of our 6 flutists have plugs. And only one of them takes them out. This is the most advanced band in my school btw, since I've been playing three years and apparently that's good enough. I dunno if I'm even playing in high school next year.

My band had 15 or so flutes, and them three of them decided to switch to oboe...random. I play flute, and I love it. And plus, as one of the band teachers at my school likes to say, "Flute players will rule the world." mrgreen
So true.

I (of course~) play the flute. Such a heavenly instrument it is!! I love my flute, even though I'm borrowing my music teacher's. It had to go in for repair two weeks ago, and the day before break, I finally got it back. Ugh, Masteller's sucks... Apparently, my music teacher found a sticky key. Another one of the flutists in my band had to give the music teacher her flute because the G and F notes sounded the same.

These are our shirts that we made this year, on the back they say Kick Some Brass (I'll try and find a pic with that )
