"True," Earendil agreed. "But now she's getting older, and she can play with her friends without us ... so we're starting to have a little time for ourselves now and again."
He smiled at Cindy. "I'm just glad she finally got confident enough to make friends and not need us with her to play with them."

"That's good..." Cindy nodded.
The family had always been fairly independent so it was good to know that Miyuki was no different. She continued to question them about different things, like how long Haldia would stay with them this time, and a bit more about Luk, and how the others were doing.
She did offer up some a bit of news about everyone else, though she didn't know that much since she lived in the valley and rarely visited Haven.

As their talk went on, it grew cooler outside, and slowly it began to grow dark. Suddenly, Vergil came wandering around the bend in the path, looking for Cindy. He was holding his jacket closed to keep himself warmer as he meandered slowly over towards the three of them.
Quietly, he climbed up onto the bench beside Cindy, then up onto the table, and plopped himself on his bottom right next to her elbow. He stared up into her face, waiting for her to finish talking, but clearly not wanting to interrupt.

Cindy paused finally, it was hard not to notice Vergil was looking up at her. She looked down and smiled, he must be tired of exploring by now she figured.
"Yes Vergil?"

Vergil smiled up at Cindy, glad that he hadn't had to wait long. He wasn't fond of cold weather - he wanted to get back inside where it was nice and warm.
"Dinner's ready!" he told her brightly.
And without another word, he scrambled to his feet and hopped down from the table and ran along the path back inside.
Earendil chuckled and rose slowly. "Well, then, Miyuki should be back."

"Let's go then," Cindy smiled as she rose from her seat, gathering up her note book, quill and capping her ink well, "I want to see how much she's grown."
Having been the eldest there was a certain joy to seeing the little ones grow up.
Getting up from her seat, Lin had to a smile at that, "Quite a bit from when you last saw her."

Earendil chuckled at that. "Yes, quite a bit," he agreed. "She had ... two tails the last time you saw her, I believe. She now has four, if that means anything to you."
Ever the gentleman, he motioned for Lin to walk ahead of him.

Lin walked ahead of Earendil, but slowed her paces so she could grab onto his hand. So she was side by side instead of in front.
"Well... truth is I don't know. I don't recall we've ever had a kitsune in the family before," Cindy admitted, "But going by tails is certainly far easier than trying to figure out physical age."

Earendil smiled as he took Lin's hand, and he nodded at Cindy. "Well, you'll see her soon enough. Though she'll probably need to wash before eating ..."
He looked down at Lin. He wasn't sure if she would take Miyuki to wash up or if she would send the girl to wash on her own.

Lin all the while was wondering if Miyuki could get away with just washing her hands before dinner. Though she supposed it depended on how dirty the little girl would turn out to be.
"Probably," Lin nodded, "Will probably have to remind her to wash up."

Meanwhile, Amalirahc and Miyuki were just returning to the castle. Each of them had a candy in their hands, a gift from the parents of one of their friends who owned the candy shop in the city, which had finished being built only a few days before they returned.
"Mama will probably tell me to wait until after dinner to eat it," Amalirahc mused, staring at the candy in his hands. "But I kind of want to eat it now..."

Miyuki could actually understand that feeling, after all it was candy. Who wouldn't want it eat it now? She was holding her candy in her hands but trying her best not to look at it.
"Leave it in your room," she told him, "Then you won't eat it until after dinner."
Which was why she was trying very hard not to look at her candy.

Amalirahc wrinkled his nose. "Yeah ... can't eat it anyways until I wash." He looked at his hands. "I'm so dirty ... I like the new playground though, it's bigger than the old one was so more people can go on it at the same time." He grinned at Miyuki. It had been fun playing with their friends, and even more fun to tell them about the trip they'd taken.

It was larger, and a lot more fun now that more people could join in the games. Not that anyone was excluded from the games, but it was just more children could climb upon the play set.
"Yea! It was great being able to climb with more people!"
And just be with other kids in general.

Amalirahc was about to say something else when down the hall he spotted Earendil, Lin and Cindy.
"There's your mama and papa," he grinned at Miyuki. "I'm going to go wash up, I'll see you at dinner again!"
And he ran off, leaving her behind.
