There's this other guy is the junior band who really wanted to play piccolo too. I felt bad for him. So I let him use it. But then he was like really horrible at it. D: And I felt worse.

Skylight Sakura (I R Newbie! XP) I love my flute, yes. <3 We have I think the smallest band of our grade in the area. 13 people, 3 sax's, 3 trombones, 2 trumpets, 1 french horn, 2 clarinets and 2 flutes (one being me). Our band hasn't gotten into the place where there can be snoots and regular people because there aren't enough people. ((When I went to Interlochen it was way different though. Instrument sections are like gangs sorta, with social classes and everything! I was at the bottom...)) that is small. we have a middel sized band compared to our 9th and 10 grade band and our 11th and 12th grade bands. we have about 10 flutes, three sax, 5 clarinets, 6 trombones, 2 tubas, 6 prucustion, 4 french horns, 2 obos, 2 basoons, 1 base clarinet, 5 trumpets, and 1 intiment that is like a small tuba. that is only 47 people but we have about 180 kids in the high school altogether. by the way im a flute too. i haven't goten the chance to play pic yet because im only in 5th chair and in 8th grade. i don't think i am qualified yet but i have my fingers crossed. i could get second i think it is just i never go over songs before try outs all well.

Ugh (in response to people talking about people who think flute's easy) I hate that, I have this sax friend who's like "but the sax is bigger it takes all my air" Well duh, it takes all your air 'cause you put all your air in it, while with a flute you put a little air in the actual instrument and then put a helluva lot just out into space because that's what you gotta do to get a sound. argh
And whoever asked about sight-reading I like to think I'm pretty decent unless it's a totally freaky key. Oh and if the whole band's practicing sight reading and there's a flute solo in the piece I usually freak out and mess it up no matter how easy it is.

FLAUTIST OVER HERE!
Right now I'm in the last band at my school, but I know I'm good enough to be in one of the other bands. STUPID AUDITIONS! It's not that I get nervous, my fingers just get stupid. At first I do fine, but then I start messing up, and I'm perfectly calm for the first like, 2 times, and then I start to panic and I end up messing up on everything else. DANG IT! sweatdrop Oh well, that's what I get for waiting to practice til the day of the actual audition.
Anyway, I really want to learn how to play the piccolo, but I don't have one, and my parents won't get me one. they won't even get me a new flute! I've been using the same one since the 7th grade! I'm a Junior! So unless I get the money myself (which will be a while because I still have to finish paying my phone bill from summer vacation), I won't get a piccolo. crying
BUT ENOUGH WITH THE SOB STORIES! I LOVE MY FLUTE! heart hugs flute heart

I have a freind who plays trumpet and we always argue about which is harder to play. His argument: "Trumpet's harder because we have to blow really hard to play loud..." Mine: "Well, how the hell do you think we get those high notes?!?!???!!!" And then that usually shuts him up for a bit. mrgreen
