Something was clearly off as he noted the missing energy in the Seon's movements. Perhaps that had been the cause of his instinctive wariness before. But turning an eye to Sky for a moment, he saw the look in her eyes and gave her a nod. "Seons are harmless, Sky. In fact, they are very helpful in the ways of communication. I have one as well." Areesa's question gave him pause though and he blinked at her in confusion for a moment. "No, I didn't... Is she crying? Why is she crying?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 12:14 pm

The Seon flashed in agitation. "Well, somebody did and if it wasn't you then you can go find out who and why. I don't know and I didn't think she'd tell me. She was writing something and the necromancer was threatening her earlier."

"I have forgotten nothing, not even the old codes like you! You betrayed your own kind when you allowed that human to climb into your bed. Being forced excused you but this, there is no returning to this. You are just like the humans in the eyes of the dragons." Crossing her arms and scoffing, "Would you rather I and the rest of the dragons end up butchered and tamed by them? The Riders are getting stronger everyday Mona and they present a real threat to the smaller atolls along the coast. I'm not the only one who is bartering. A revolution is coming and darker days with it. I'm only protecting what is mine."

Ignoring his previous question completely, she focused on the latter. "A newborn babe would known no more about lust and affection than is taught to him and instinctual desires that have no parallel to the adult genital recognition." Literal as always. "As an outsider, you have no concept of all the nuances in that relationship. It is not as simple as it appears and Kaznec has had no indication that Jaebelltiah's feelings have intensified and evolved. His mind centers on political affairs because his father's mind does. Do you not learn what your parent's teach?"

"I have no desire to steal your jewels and whatnot. If it brings you value, take it and find the highest price." He'd spotted the man long before she finished her description of him and noted his movements as well as the fact that he had a younger companion beside him that would likely sound the alarm if he suddenly dropped. But this was a good chance to watch a potential rival in his business and he stayed back to watch her handiwork.

"Naturally. When in Ilindal and all of that..." He smirked at her and sashayed through the streets, waving off those who attempted to get their attentions. "Brothel girls are gems in their own right, rubies, pearls, sapphires and emeralds but I'm in the market for the rarest Jewel of them all. Nothing can compare to her."

"I would Rather that you go someplace safe! leave this place!"

narrowing her eyes.

"Old codes? tell me, sister dear, when did adhering to the old codes help us? the other clans didn't come to help us when we called for aid. No male dragon wanted anything to do with me because I 'smelled like a human' after being forced to bed with them. I don't see them lifting talons when our young ones are forced into indentured servitude to places like this because the humans in most atolls don't think of us as having any other value. So where exactly are these old codes binding the clans, and make the dragon race stronger through unity that your trying to remind me of?"

pointing her finger into her sister's chest.

"The only place that even comes close to keeping to the old codes is Ilindal, and only because a dragon rules it. the time of dragonic power is all but over. and if I had the choice, I'd rather be butchered fighting the Riders then to cower from them and sign back alley treaties that you know they'll never keep as soon as whatever value you have is exhausted. Or as soon as they figure out whatever 'weapon' you think you have and neutralize it."

"A blind man could see that she has much stronger feelings then friendship. You can see it in the way she looks at him, the way she moves around him, and they way she sleeps with him. and no, you don't always learn what your parent's teach. or there would be no pirates and there would be no thieves or liars. So I don't buy that he's just acting like his father. I've met Lycear as well you know. and he's no where near that dense or detached from emotion."

He said it was harmless but it made that funny noise. Almost like a growl. Growls didn't just pop out because they could. "Blue light." She assumed that one was his...she'd seen it around him a few times but she didn't like that one either. They didn't have a scent and the like and it bothered her to no end. A little frown though as she knew they were talking about the white. "White was probably mean. Mean gets mean."

She wasn't ignorant to the man's companion. Most likely someone that he had hired for the day here because she certinally didn't look like him at all enough to be family and such...and well other factors were telling. Which was a complication. Though she had a plan for this too...walking aroudn so that the companion's back was to her, she brushed the other's shoulder with a little flare of green eneegy around her fingers...the other stiffined and pupils dialiated before she circled once more and dropped a dagger in hand. It was a matter of casually walking up to the older man then, casually slamming the dagger into his gut and withdrawing it, other hand swiping the shard from his person and walking away back into the crowd...indeed before he dropped to the ground dead and his companion just stood there longer...until Savryn was sure she was far enough off and gave a snap of fingers, letting her necromantic soul gripping go on the girl. Score for her.
"You flatterer. That silver tongue does do you well." Giving a little laugh she lead on back to the docks and with a flare of an arm she motioned to her ship. "Isn't she just beautiful? This is what my Gale Claw was always meant to be. She has all the features I modified daddy's ship with, wings and all." Giving a giggle as they strolled up the gang plank. "And she has that new ship smell."

So apparently the Seon hadn't come to provide any real answers and the news it gave merely added to the list of questions he had. He didn't like the idea of Jae crying and even less so the notion that she had been threatened. The elf was an odd one, that was for sure. Dark and morbid and just... cold. Sky's comment deepened his frown as well and he stood up, dropping his hand to let Areesa go. He hadn't believed that Jae was mean last time and he wasn't going to believe it this time unless he got proof. He knew her, she just didn't do mean. "I will talk to her. Sky, I can teach you more words next time." Thus flaring his wings and gliding down from the crow's nest, he spotted the white form by the railing and moved to her side. "Jae, are you alright?"

Sky huffed in agitated manner. Well that wasn't fair! White didn't want to be around him so why did he have to go be around her? A look to the ball of light and she swatted at it again. Still did not trust those balls of lights.

Counting grains of sand was probably not something that would be considered healty on too many levels unless said sand was being used as a measuring tool against something else in weight or quantity...but it gave her something to focus on. Her strategist's brain knew that tact and such had no room for emotion and she had been trying to keep that at the forefront of her mind. But that was broken at the sound of his voice and even moreso at it being so close. Her hand tightened on the piece of paper it still held as if someone may want to take it from her and discover the logical paths of information there. She turned her attention to him, giving a light not. "I'm fine Commander. Just...trying to think about what we should do next instead of running in proverbial circles." Which was a lie, but it wouldn't hurt anyone to be told such things. "Or should I be leaving the planning to the Laerethe?" At least she knew how to keep her voice under control despite everything that was just under the surface. Could only hope the rest of her self was trying just as hard. Nervous twitches and glassy looks to eyes and such that were hard to cover.

As usual, his mind made no real distinction between her calling him by name or by title and so he merely looked her over more carefully now that she was facing him. Slightly slitted pupils, shifty eyes, and her knuckles were turning paler because she was clenching her hand too hard. Lips pursing slightly, he returned golden eyes to her face. "I have a broad course of action in mind that is related to a piece of information Savryn gave me." But speaking of that elf... "You don't look well. Have you been crying?"
PostPosted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 7:44 pm

"Oh..." Well there was one of those 'best to consult your supriors' types of things again...since she was trying to live up to this lie she had given and all. "Well just...let me know when you need me then." Keep the mind on the job and she could probably stay focused enough. A blink at his question though...well she had been about to cry so it really didn't count as crying. But was it evident that she had been that close? "I...I...I'm probably just tired. What with all I did earlier and such..." Boo reminders.

"It involves the shards. I think she's invented a compass of sorts that will lead us to them. It would prove to be greatly helpful if reliable enough." Not that he wasn't intrigued by such a breakthrough. He wanted to speak with that elf soon but first things first... He had his priorities, and this one was pausing a lot and also stuttering. Not good signs. "I saw you leave the ship for the atoll earlier, I thought you went to relax or spend some time browsing the shops for trinkets to fiddle with." Another pause as he glanced down at her hand again. Why was she so... tense?
PostPosted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 8:37 pm

Now she'd been outsted in the inventing department as well? More distress to add onto things. "Well that's...useful. I'm sure that will streamline things and the progress will pick up." Tilting her head at him as he questioned earlier things...was he angry because she left without his permission again? "I'm sorry I didn't ask...Mister Robins asked me to go give a message to Captain Neerem for him. The bath houses here are gender seperated and that's where she was so that's why he asked me." Noticing him glancing at her hand she searched for distraction. "I didn't do anything frivilous..."

"Hopefully so. Even if it isn't perfectly accurate, it might be able to give us a general direction. We haven't been making much progress lately and now that Fang might be on our trail, things aren't looking so good either." Not to mention, the group as a whole wasn't faring so well. People were getting injured and captain Gem had lost her ship, well one of her ships anyway. "That's good. But now that you are back, you shouldn't be worrying so much. I believe they mentioned that this atoll is relatively safe." He nodded lightly at that and then decided to take things into his own hands, so to speak. Reaching down to take her hand, he eased it open to relieve the tension contained there and then blinked at the ball of crumpled paper she'd been holding. "What's this?" Unfolding it and glancing over it curiously.
PostPosted: Tue Mar 18, 2008 9:45 pm

Okay so he wasn't going to dress her down again so to speak which was a good thing. If he did that she probably would of lost her composure...which was very very hard to hold onto right now. "I just didn't want to cause you anymore trouble is all, Commander." Had to admire his ability to transfer from one situation to another without being too affected by the former. But apparently she was being too transparent for her own good. Jae didn't fight it when he made motions to open her hand and take the paper from her.

Well...she didn't have a lie for that. Not a good one that he would believe at least and he would call her on it. "I was just...thinking about the Rider dragons we saw is all...you know how their coloring is." And hopefully he wouldn't make the connect that she had been pointing out to herself. Then again he hadn't really said anything about the similarities in apperance between her and Sky either. Or maybe he was jsut ebing quiet about it. "You know...maybe the riders use different colors for things...like how Sky would be hard to see from the ground with untrained eyes because she blends with the actual sky most days..." Ugh that sounded so horrible...draining dragons of colors for a real purpose. But yet she hadn't seen any other whites. "May be u-useful to know..." Clearing her throat as her voice cracked as she forced herself to talk about such things and try to reign in those welling tears again.

Areesa watched Kaznec go and turned her attention to Sky. "You stop that. Right now. I didn't do nothin' to you. And Bellah was not mean."

"I very much beg to differ, Captain. A parent is not just a parent by blood or biological means. But sometimes children do not learn what their parents do not teach either." Crossing her arms and slanting him with a look. "I do not reveal secrets unless the timing is correct."

"Someplace safe? Where? Ilindal? Where my business would gain me nothing and I have no other talents to offer? They don't need anymore geomancers, sister dear. Or perhaps you mean another atoll away from here? This is the best place and you know it. It's never raided because few know it's here. It's a cruel world, Desdemona, but you learn to snap it in half sooner or later. Looks like you still have a lot to learn. Gaining your dignity back might just help you do that."

He watched, monitoring her progress and was rather pleased when she finished. Quick and damn near perfect. A little more bloody than he'd have preferred but to each his own. Slipping in casually beside her, he chuckled, "And you prove once again you don't need me. Is that thing telling you there's another around or is it going crazy for no reason?" Referring to the compass of course. "This could be fun."

He was about to comment when he glanced up and saw the real Gale Claw. Looking over it, he couldn't help but whistle. "She's a beau, that's for sure. Nice and smooth and just ready for her maiden voyage. Or did she technically already take that?"

"I have my dignity, Brishana. And I am proud of who I am and my heritage. the city is safer, and your talents could be put to good use. Maybe not your sexual prowess, but your geomancy skills. your buisness skills. anything better than this. Dignity and pride are not compromise. I would rather die fighting then to make a deal that puts me on any kind of footing or relation with the people that slaughtered or turned to pack animals my family. I plan to take this opportunity that Lycear offers with both hands, and make it work for me."

flicking her tail lightly.

"I can open a shop of things we've picked up, I can fence or legitimately sell what Hunter hauls in. Ilindal is going to be his home port, or he'd never cared about making a deal for safety in it. when they recover the orb they'll need competent and knowledgeable people to manage it. you could do that. you sew, you could open a clothes shop or something. And not have to make deals with our enemies for your survival over it either. I wouldn't question your dealings if it was some human or dragon gang of ruffians you think could help you, but that's not what this is. your giving the Riders what they want, and your hoping they won't undo our outdo your secret weapon...all so that they don't do exactly what they will do when your no longer useful."

"You honestly mean to tell me the subject of women has never come up between Lycear and Kanzec? good lord. I mean I know dragons live longer and such, but come on. my father, and I use the term loosely, explained women to me about a year after I was old enough to know. I can't see Lycear being that...timid...about the subject."

A light nod. "I knew where you had gone." And that was the important thing. He just needed to have that knowledge, being uninformed left him reeling and feeling hopeless. He just didn't want to feel like that again. Attention to the paper though, he smoothed the wrinkles out and read through the list of colors. With her explanation, it made sense. Sky was indeed a fine example. "It's plausible reasoning. They've adjusted their methods to serve purposes of camouflage so as to reinforce their prowess in the sands." Nodding lightly to himself. "One important thing to note: color distinction. It may provide us with-" Pulling himself out of his thoughtful haze though, he glanced back to her and blinked. She wasn't well at all and now she did look like she was about to cry. Why? Frowning in his confusion, he raised a hand and rather awkwardly wiped away a tear that had escaped onto her cheek. "There's something you're not telling me, Jae."
