((I won't be on long this afternoon, and I might not be on too much later. I have work and a paper that I had been procrastinating on))
*In the middle of the night she heard something at the door. If she wasn't such a light sleep she wouldn't have noticed. After a little bit the noise stopped and she went back to bed.
Somewhere in the afternoon Clever awoke, alone, in an unfamiliar bed. She looked around for Hikaru, but didn't see him. Assuming that he already went downstairs, she got up and went to her room to change and shower.
With some clean clothes on she went into the tavern, slipped on her shoes, and saw many already awake.*

*Hikaru nodded a bit sadly as Keira lowered her voice. He didn't really think he could tell her how he was feeling, what was bothering him. He felt like something was bothering her, but didn't know how to ask. He wasn't even sure if she would want to tell him about it. Things were so confusing between them. He watched her as she turned away and he sighed quietly. He was feeling pretty powerless these days. The only time he had felt alright was when he was with Clever talking last night, but now that moment was gone. As if to come as a sign to him Clever appeared. He smiled a bit weakly in her direction and waved, but didn't speak. He was waiting for Ben to say something. He looked at him and waited.*

Ben nodded, he could tell that this was not a good time to do so but he figured he could give him the benefit of the doubt.
It won't take long...if you want to go talk we can...just let me know...
He nodded almost internally to himself as Keira hopped up to go talk to Hikaru, it almost felt like Ben should expect it. He just smirks and lights another smoke, now blankly staring in to space. All attempts to open himself up to anyone but Synge had failed, why should he bother? He puffed a few drags of his smoke, Keira might notice that it didn't smell of cloves like it used to.

*Clever smiled slightly, not wanting to get Hikaru into any predicaments, she smiled to Ben and Keira as she made her way into the kitchen to clean*

In an almost defeated manner, Ben waved to the the new cleaner and was happy to see her already working so hard.

*Hikaru nodded at what Ben said about talking. He really just thought it was best to get it over with now.*
Sure, if you want, we can go now.
*He looked at him as if to say it really was up to him and not Hikaru. He glanced at Clever as she went to the kitchen, but only for a moment.*

*As keira sets her mug down, she notices something at the corner of her eye. She looked upstairs and saw Clever come across the hall and into her own room. Keira frowned and realized her suspisions were correct about Clever and Hikaru last night. It took everything she had not to cry and turned away with a smile on her face. Moments later Clever make her way downstairs and continued to smile and clever smiled to her. Keira's mind raced again, but to anyone watching, it just seemed like she was out of it like she was dead tired. SHe watches as Ben lights his cig and winces thinking it was a clove smoke, but realizing it wasn't, she smiled at him as if to tell him thanks*

Nodding, Ben got up from his seat and motions for Hikaru to follow him. He walked out on to the front porch of the tavern and waited for Hikaru to catch up. Once he had done so, he headed around the corner to the side of the tavern where there was a mini courtyard of sorts with some chairs and a fire pit. He took a seat in a chair that had another across from it.
Please...have a seat...care for a smoke?

*Hikaru stood up without energy and followed Ben. He was really just along for the ride, not wanting to talk to him in private at all. He felt guilty for what he had done, but was still angry for what his relationship was with Synge. He sat down when he was told and nodded at his offer, holding out his hand.*

Ben offered him a smoke and his matches and then waited for him to light the smoke. Once he was situated, he took the matches back and puffed a moment before speaking.
Ok...I will make this brief...I need you to accept who I am for Synge's sake. I know we got of on the wrong foot but I have tried...so hard...to show you respect and you still refuse my every attempt. If you don't like me and don't want to try and work this out...we need to at least stop fighting about it...it is killing Synge...you have no idea...

*Keira frowns when everone leaves and she decides she was tired enough to fall asleep. She heads upstairs to her room and drifts away*

*Hikaru took the cigarette and matches with little expression. He lit the cigarette and handed the matches back to Ben as he started to smoke. His eyes showed he wasn't thrilled to be here, but it had much more to with just Ben than would be imagined. He felt a little sick as he listened to Ben speak. He secretly thought to himself that it was Ben who had no idea. He stayed silent for a moment and then nodded.*
Right...I understand. You make Synge happy, so it is fine. Sorry for all the trouble I've caused you...It is hard to see someone come and take something like that from her...
*He was referring to what he had so easily noticed when he saw Synge. What had fueled his anger and his stupidity.*

Ben watched Hikaru's face and he could tell he was just putting him off and he felt his anger rising but remembering what Aykon had said he didn't show it and instead let out a deep breath. He just opted for a little more terse speech.
Don't bullshit Hikaru...I know that's not how you feel. At least be honest with me...I am offering the olive branch and you are just disregarding it. I don't agree with your phrasing...I never TOOK anything...I also didn't take anything from you...Synge made the choices she made...I didn't sweet talk her into it, drug her, manipulate her or any of the things you might imagined. I showed someone who could appreciate her for who she was...that's all...I gave her someone who loves her for her not who she WAS. Everything else was things that she consented to....
HE felt like he might have thrown himself at the mercy of a train but decided to hold on as best he could.
Don't hate me for being with Synge...you had a chance...much more of a chance than I ever had and you didn't take it. Besides, you love the girl you knew as a friend...I highly doubt you are thinking of her as a smart, beautiful and vibrant adult woman she is.

*Hikaru honestly preferred to believe that in some way Ben had forced Synge to do what she had, but deep down he knew that wasn't the case. He knew that Synge loved Ben, and that was what hurt the most. He hated Ben for bringing the truth out. He stayed calm on the outside but on the inside he was turning around in swirls of anger and hurt. He clenched his teeth as Ben talked about how Hikaru had missed his chance. He didn't want to say what he was thinking, he felt that he didn't have any right to fight Ben because of the kiss he had stolen from Synge. But he couldn't help but say a little. His words were rough, as if they were fighting their way out despite his desire to keep them in.*
You don't know how I feel...don't say you know what I see in her...
*He stopped there and smoked silently, calming down a bit.*
I'm not going to fight you over her, so don't worry. I know she loves you. I won't try anything with her anymore...and I'll try to be more...polite to you...I'm sorry.
