He is returning to 616.
Distress Signal, no doubt.

. . . . *After a few months of playing dead, Lex finally returns to II. First thing he does is to initiate override protocols.*
This is my building. If anyone thinks I cannot reclaim it from any would-be usurpers, they are gravely mistaken.
Now, as I recall, I had a store of LXes. They'll never realize their full potential, what with Lantern batteries being so hard to come by. None the less, unless that buffoon with the Goblin Glider did something with them, I should still be well armed.
Hmmm . . .

*enters the building, but finds himself unable to get any further than the lobby. Is initially confused, but grows increasingly frustrated at his lack of access.*
Now this presents something of a problem...
*leaves, clenching his fists and trying very hard to conceal his growing rage.*

*Sends an email to Norman.*
I understand that you are still quite irate about our past dealings. I want you to understand it was nothing personal. Or more to the point, it was that you didn't have enough of a personal grudge against our targets. As it was, that little greeen b*****d and his emo toadie still got the better of me.
I'm back now, and if you're willing, I would like to negotiate something a bit more, shall we say . . . equitable?

*responds to Luthor's e-mail*
I'm afraid you've misread the situation, Luthor. There are no hard feelings regarding the events of this year, at least no on your end. My former subordinates have slightly more to answer for, what with having actively tried to kill me. The ultimatum I put forth was merely to further my own interests, and I would expect you to do no less. Besides - you died; I didn't. I assume that, given your takeover of Injustice International, you saw me trying to access the building, to no avail. My irateness was only due to the idea that some lesser being had tried to usurp my position, but so long as it was the rightful owner... No harm, no foul. I simply didn't expect you back, at least not so soon. Our dealings in the past have certainly proved profitable, and I see no reason why that couldn't continue. Restore my access to the building, and we'll talk.

*Lex ponders for a moment, and then transmits the necessary passcodes to enter II facilities, at least up to Level 9 clearance. Lex also adds Osborn to the Staff register.*
Let me ask you something, HAMMER Director Osborn. Have you considered becoming the 616's US President?

God no. I'm in exactly the position I want to be. I'm answerable only to the President and he is easily manipulated. As it stands, I have all of the power I could want with none of the Presidential responsibilities. Not to mention the public scrutiny. As the director of HAMMER, public perception has already hindered me greatly. The fact that Tony Stark is still breathing attests to that. But as the President? My every move would be under a microscope. It would be far too difficult to operate, especially on the front lines. I have a feeling the Secret Service would take issue with their Commander-In-Chief flying to Latveria in an experimental suit of battle-armor to fight off hoards of demons or Asgardians or what have you.
The passcodes are much appreciated. I'll be by to "negotiate something more equitable" shortly...

And we'll start tonight, of course, with the Wassailing song. A-one, two, three, four...
::starts playing merrily on the pipe to the familiar tune, then breaks and starts singing::
Here we come a-wassailing Among the leaves so green, Here we come a wandering So fair to be seen.
Love and joy come to you, And to you your wassail too, And God bless you and send you a happy New Year. And God send you a happy New Year.
::starts playing again::
