She stiffened in her posture as it was brought up again...and yes she was thinking it. It never left her mind and the more she had been around Sky, the mor time out here...well there was little room to deny things. "You did..." Biting her lip and closing her eyes to perhaps keep tears at bay. That confirmed it didn't it? If the Laerethe could work it all out and beleive it...well then how could she really contest it. "I'm one of them, aren't I?" She wasn't completely like the other rider dragons...after all, she had a mind of her own and such as well as twenty feet of size on any rider dragon. She wasn't quite exactly one but not quite exactly the other. Which brought another question...how many others back home knew the facts and simply didn't tell her?
"Now why is she in trouble? I sent her back so she wouldn't be. Now I have to go back and clean things up? I'm the one who talked her into joining me...practically had to drag her by the tail." Shaking her head and looking to the little gold. "No he doesn't, but he is the cutest thing I have every been peeped on by." Setting the boy down at the table. "Yes I can Treasure, now you order anything you want okay? Don't care about cost." Turning a look back to Thobias. "How are my boys?"

And he thought being up so high and tucked away would mean no distractions... Wrong apparently but it was true that he hadn't seen the little skyblue in a long time. Too many things gone on recently. Golden eyes moving from his paper and settling on Sky then, he nodded. "Not leaving the ship, no. I don't need anything inside the atoll and here I won't get in the way of repairs. You're not out exploring with Shyrae either... Why?"

"You were certainly intended to be but something went awry in their plans. Or perhaps they were testing a new method on you and it just didn't quite work out the way they might have thought. Regardless, you are not a Rider dragon though you have the characteristics of one. Letting that define you ranks with fearing knowledge, Jaebell. You must accept who you are and learn to move past it. People suspect but no one knows for sure. Only those intensely familiar with the kind are positive. Lycear and Kaznec are not those."
"Not little after all. My mistake." Chuckling and then looking back to Gem with a raised eyebrow. "Because Kaznec was worried about her and she put herself in danger. You know how he feels about her even if he won't admit it. Same reason I was ready to throttle you. And she didn't blow the whistle on you about that either." He was a little alarmed at the peeping bit but as a young boy, he supposed it was natural. "They're quite well. A little surprised you had another ship up your sleeve, but then, so was I." Yup, that hurt.
Ooh, he was excited. Gems told him all the things he wanted to hear and she was letting him have whatever he wanted. He glanced down at the menu and frowned. "I cain't read." But he knew what he wanted anyway and he ordered two big slices of cake and a butterbeer.

"Sky can not follow. Shyrae leaving." Her tail swaying casually behind in her that content fashion as she watched him. Yes she was merely repeating what she had been told earlier, which was upsetting really but not at the same time. People were very come and go in her life. Another sniff at the air, yup no lingering particular scent too strongly anymore...which was nice in her opinion, she liked his alone more. "Sky has to stay here." Nodding and reinforcing that she wasn't allowed to go anywhere...or at least she thought she wasn't.
"Then that's all I need to know...thank you." Frankly in her mind...there was no difference. Not that she would admit that our loud but she wasn't sure it mattered anyway seeing as the Laerethe were one step ahead when it came to knowing what was on your mind anyway. And suspect was perhaps worse than confirmation. "I'll be fine..." She wasn't sure she would be...but she was throwing up the 'silver lining' defense mechanism of hers...there had to be something good in all of it and if not she could fake there was.
"She's loyal if anything. And honestly sometimes the plans have to deviate on things so that better situations may be salvaged. I'll personally apologize to Fire about it then and try to smooth things over about it all." Looking to the boy, "Can't read? Well then we'll have to teach you." Smiling as he went for childish tastes mixed with grown up ones. She herself got a steak and some wine. Fancy food, how nice. But a look back to Thobias, "It was mine and my father's secret. The only ones who knew about it are those that built it and they didn't last very long. Forgive me for not wanting to betray his memory." Shaking her head lightly with a frown and then looking for lightere subjects. "Are you sure I can't keep him? He's awefully cute."

Nodding, he assumed she meant Shyrae had gone off to do some shopping or something in the atoll. Which made sense as the elf had taken on quite a few cooking duties for them lately. "Stay here with me then. Wandering around by yourself could be dangerous, this is a pirate's place." Though he watched her for a quiet moment, wondering what all the sniffing was about. As far as he was concerned, he couldn't smell anything out of the ordinary. "Is something wrong, Sky?" Beckoning to her with a hand for her to join him, he passed her the book he had. "Can you read?"

Though she did start to get herself dressed.
"Survival trumps business out here, elf. if your better off dead or sent away on a wild chase that has no end, then you will be."
not really paying him anymore mind at the moment.
"I also suggest you get out of here by not using the door, unless you want to put your skills to test and get this entire atoll after you for being a sexual deviant. the little dragon only got away with it because Gem already had him. and his age. you don't have either benefit."
And she sauntered herself out the door, and walked around looking for the brothel she was interested in. she hadn't seen Brishana in a long time.

Oh yes, he was highly amused by her. He assumed nothing as she thought he did; his methods were tried and true. He knew the moment he walked in what weapons each of them had on their persons and who was capable of what. It had served him well in his particular line of work. "You might think so but that'd be your opinion." His lips curved and he nodded to her. "We'll see. Good day, m'lady." Ensuring that the bathhouse was safe for any other females who might choose to come in, he left the bathhouse and headed for one of the alehouses. His business engagement should be commencing shortly.
"While all that may be true, you did still put yourself in danger, and by default, her as well. The Commander doesn't take very well to that as you should know by now." He ordered himself a hearty bowl of stew and ale and leaned back in his chair. "You don't have to explain things to me, Gem. You keep the secrets you know or feel you need to. I keep my own as well. That's never been an issue and isn't now. It's not the secret that I am upset about. It's the retrieving without telling me." Considering look, "You wanted to keep the other children that turned up on our ship, too, but they had someone to be with. If that's not the case with him then I don't see why not."
His cake came and he happily dug in, getting chocolate all over his pretty golden scales, but he didn't care too much. Not only could he have cake without actually eating a meal but he could have two slices! "Why'd you wanna keep me anyhow?"

Go motions! Well that was a happy thing and she gave a little noise before hopping off the edge of the crows nest and into the nest itself, promptly plopping down next to him closer than she needed to be because that was her anyway. What personal boundries? “No wrong.” Tilting her head at the book she was handed, holding it and tilting it a few ways as if trying to make sense of it. “Read?” Thinking a moment….the scribbles on the paper people used? Was that it? “No.” That was her conclusion and she was sticking to it. Hm… “You read?”
"I didn't want to endanger you all needlessly. I had rationalized out that if Fang had gotten in range of me, that I would be the only one who had to suffer. Ice can fly high and fast enough to get away and none of my crew or you would have to suffer. It was perfectly logical in my own head." Looking to the little gold dragon. "Because I am a pirate and as a pirate I like treasure and shiny things, as well as ones that amuse me, I'm opportunistic." Not that she would snatch the boy away from the place or anything, it was mostly a joke. Though she may not look twice if he turned stowaway.

looking over the railing by the helm at the little annoyance.
"Mind if I borrow you for a minute? I have a few questions to ask you. And if you don't mind, I want real answers, not riddles or hints or clues or 'goddess said not to tell's alright?"
Desdemona shook her hand a bit, flexing her fingers after laying out one particularly drunk pervert who didn't seem to comprehend the idea that not all women who were in a brothel were for sale. after 'accidentally' finishing what she started by stepping on his neck a little too hard while walking over him, she made her way to the little bar that all places like this had.
"Brishana still work here? or has she moved to another stable?"

Eilynne glanced at Hunter and merely waved her hand for him to continue.
"Your rationalizations didn't slow my heartbeat any when I found out you were gone." But leaving it at that because he wasn't her father or her captain and therefore had little say in what she did or did not do. "I'm glad you have your pride and joy back, though and this means we won't be stuck on the Chimera for any longer. It was getting a little cramped."
He frowned and scrunched up his nose at the unfamiliar word. "What's opper- what's that?" None of the girls at the place had ever said that. He dug into his cake happily, using both hands to drink the mug of butterbeer. "He sounds kinda mad at you. Did you do something bad Miss Gems?"
The girl at the desk in the front of the tent glanced up and frowned. "She doesn't take females, hon. Sorry."

And you'll be more impressed than every by my new girl." Chuckling lightly before looking to the little dragonling again. "Opportunity. I means when you see something that you like, or can be good for you in some way then you claim it as your own or get involved in some way so that you benefit." Giving him a quirky grin. "Nothing bad, he just worries. He'll won't be so made after he eats and such."

Hunter rolled his eyes and walked on down.
"First question...what's your stake in getting Kanzec and Bell together. Second question. do you have a method of traking the Burning Prince. third question. how long are you going to let the blind elf with the shard compass keep her collections?"
"I'm not a customer. I'm her sister. how quickly you people forget."
lightly drumming her fingers on the desk.
"So, is she in, or is she not?"

Personal space didn't seem to be an issue with him either, though of course his reasoning was merely that there were other more important issues he could be thinking about. Besides, his unconscious MO had always been to just consider the facts and logic. If she said there was nothing wrong, then there wasn't. No need to lie, the truth would always get out eventually. But apparently his suspicions had been correct. Rider dragons didn't know how to read, much less communicate in common tongue. But Sky wasn't one of them anymore, was she? Taking the book, he positioned it the right way for her. "Reading is another way to learn new things. That's why I read." Flipping open to a page that had a diagram of a dragon in natural form. "Speech is one way to communicate. Writing is another. These symbols are what people use to convey meaning through writing. If you know how to read, then you can understand what they are saying."

He didn't want bullshit answers, she wouldn't give them. "Protection. No. As long as it pleases me to do so."
"Sister, right." Showing her skepticism, the girl flipped a page in her book and scanned it. "She'll be available in about ten minutes for a quick break before her next customer arrives. Take a pillow and relax."
"I like being impressed. It means that I haven't seen everything there is out there and become jaded and no fun." Laughing and chugging about half of his ale with a satisfied sound. "I have a right to worry. If you suddenly bite the bullet, I have to handle all the bastards that you keep in line so well." Giving a visible shudder to that and attacking his food.
"Oh! I can do that too. Like how I asked for cake when you told me I could have anything I wanted?" Sounded good to him. It meant he benefited from whatever he chose to get involved with. "Bastards don't pay. Do you gots people cheating you Miss Gem? I'll kick 'em good for you if'n ya like?"
Brishana sashayed out ten minutes later in nothing more than an artfully draped sarong. Quirking an eyebrow, she crossed her arms. "Mona, long time since you been around here, girl. What do I owe this pleasure to?"

She liked the sound of that. Learning things was up there high on her priority list and if these things could teach her things well then she definitely wanted something to do with them. "Learning without a teacher, yes?" Because there was no person involved. Though she blinked and was obviously surprised to see such an illustration, running the pads of her fingers over the ink and blinking again as she seemed to note it wasn't alive or real. "You teach Sky read then?" Because if he could...she wanted at it.
"Good then, no more squabbling about it. You can just have fun when you explore your new quarters." Grinning, "Aw, what a sweet thing to say." Laughing at that then shaking her head lightly. Reaching over she ruffled the boy's hair between his horns again. "Exactly my boy. Isn't he darling? He wants to hurt people for me. "If I find any, you'll be first to know. How's that sound Treasure?"
