Eric couldn't help but smirk. "Not that kind of tests and training...the medical and lifestyle types. We all go through it. After all, you're bringing all of your horrible Earth germs up here and we hate germs."
"The kind where they take three pints of blood, run every test known to man and some only known to Fleet and you get to vist...the chair." Giving a mock evil chuckle. "The chair for your...MAPS....And that is just the start."
"Stop trying to scare him. As I heard it, you cried like a baby about it all. But yes, various mental and physical evaluations. THhen you get to learn to work in zero gravity just in case and things like that. Security procedures, how to work your door without chopping off your hand, what an airlock is and how you never never touch it."
Rennell pouted. "Not like a baby...just a fussy infant. Cut me a break. One p***k to me and I practically bleed out. It was horrifying."
"Because Earth can be full of fearmongering idots, and then Fleet is full of eccentric fear inducing geeks. Sometimes I still wonder how those like you happen to put up with us all. Surely you have dreams of maiming us with our equipment." Giving a little grin to his suggestion however. "Running through the forest, down to a city, eating an enemy or two, sure I could see that. And I will be Jelena - Ruler of Worlds." Sighing to that notion. "Not that do I too much with that aspect up here anymore, hm? But I like to call myself an overacheiver and that makes it all better." Thusly turning a look on him. "And what do you hear? The joyful sounds of Rennell fleeing?"

"Germs? Come on you guys must of gotten a few flu shots when you lived back on earth." But Adam didn't mind, as long as he didn't have to take and tests, he was happy. A look to the Meta and he chuckled. "You think that's gonna scare me?" He shook his head before looking at both men. "What's MAPS?"
Though Eric suddenly got his attention again. "Ooh zero gravity, I've always wanted to try that out." Though he made a noise and waved his hand a bit. "Come on, even a five year old knows to never touch an air lock." But it seems where ever they were going was deeper in the ship. "So how long will this take? I want to get working soon."

By the grace of the Captain, Lillia was exonerated from any wrongdoing in the Norrington fiasco and allowed to stay aboard FLEET with the understanding that she was not to contact Earth without express permission. She'd also had to give up every piece of technology she owned which had been gone through extensively before her innocence was proclaimed. Jelly had taken the fall for Lillia's part, a situation that she hadn't seen as fair at the time but understood the way the chain of command worked. She was Jelena's intern and therefore, her responsibility.
Right or wrong, Lillia hadn't fully accepted the outcome of the incident but she had elected to stay onboard and work her hardest to earn good rapport and feelings among the other workers. Working off a blemished reputation wasn't easy but she was managing it. It helped that her only real crime had been her naiveté in thinking her mother would have accepted her decisions and stayed out of her life. She and her father had been granted monthly telecomms with the understanding that they would be monitored and filed.
Fox had gifted her a new laptop...that was still sitting in her room. Instead, she'd bribed him to dismantle one of the older models, fix it up, and let her have that instead. Technology still wasn't her friend. And that was why she was stalking the halls at this moment in time, muttering to herself as she literally retraced her steps. "Where is that silly thing? I taped it to the clipboard and then it just disappeared...." Frowning, she tapped her comms unit. "Erik, you wouldn't happen to have my sticky note on the Peryton's scans, would you?"

Of course we did. But the vacuum of space is rather sterile. This ships are rather sterile. We rarely suffer illness up here. Usually when we do there's a reason for it and it's usually a contaminate from something or other." He laughed however, "Oh a MAPS is a right thing to fear, boy. They literally get inside your head and project everything out, force everythign you know into display more or less. Memory Accessing Projection System. Does exactly what it says."
Rennell couldn't help but give a snicker. "This one is about as one track minded as a train. Unfortunately he's on the wrong track. Suppose it's like that new car smell. New Fleet smell in this case."
Eric was a tad annoyed. "It will take as long as it takes and you will get to work only when you're told you can." The beeping at his shoulder that was promptly followed by Lillia's voice took his attention though. "Not unless it's stuck to me under FS protection. Which it very well may, I didn't check. If you'd use a wrist input like the rest of us, you wouldn't have that proablem. Why don't you take a break and torment the new tech with us? We're taking him to get his blood tests."

"Huh, well then that's understandable, but by now you think we figure out the cure for the common cold or something." A raise of his eyebrow though. "Oh, well that's just wonderful. Having my inner most thoughts being looked at by everyone else. And giving it a kind of simple abbreviation does not lessen the fact it lets someone be become something like Big Brother." Yes another reference to a book, but Adam liked 1984 so he had to say that. Though he looked to Rennell and gave a shrug. "Well I can't help it, I find fun in making things and you guys have some some of the best pieces of tech to tinker with. More than earth does because all the big shots want to keep everything. And I don't see myself as on any track of sorts, I just wanna work."
And then Adam happened to become a bit annoyed as well, all this stuff he had to go through in order to work, it was a bit of a pain. At least back on Earth all he had to do was go from his room to the garage and he could go to work, but he hoped they wouldn't take forever with the tests. A blink though as it seemed that Eric invited someone to come bug him. "Torment? This is more like a lazy boat ride complete with the odd hanger on." He was referring to Rennell, but the guy was cool anyway.

"You know I hate that thing. I wouldn't even be using it if Noris hadn't made it a requirement." Rolling her eyes and stepping back into the enclosures then jotting a few notes on the clipboard. "New recruits weren't supposed to arrive until tomorrow...unless I was given the wrong schedule." And that wasn't a good thing. She flipped through on her clipboard and muttered a few things under her breath.
"Oh, today's the day. Look at that." She still didn't have her sticky note and that bothered her, but Erik might have it and that was the only reason she was going to go see him. Locating him easily enough, she held up a cup, taking a sip of the matching one in her other hand. "I come bearing gifts. Now do you have my sticky note or not?"

"We have that up here. I didn't say the cold, now did I? There are nastier things up here I suppose." Shrugging his shoulders and chuckling as Lillia continuted to complain before cutting off communication. "We have to make sure you're mentally sound and anything that isn't sound in there we can help with. Can't have you going all crazy on us or anything." Shaking his head until they came to the med bay on board, ushering Adam in. "Go on, they'll just draw copious amounts of blood and swab a few things, do a physical and then let you back out. We'll be waiting right here. Well, I will." Pushing the boy onward through the doors. Though his attention happily came to Lillia. "You brought coffee, you thoughtful girl. Okay then, go ahead and give me a pat down like you want looking for your sticky note."
"I'm not the third wheel." Snorting as Eric pushed the other to the med techs and Lillia came with coffee. But not for him. "Yeesh, maybe I am the third wheel indeed." But a pleasant laugh and he crossed his arms lightly. "If you don't find your sticky note, can we turn him upset down and shake him?"

"If I wasn't mentally sound I would of been bouncing off the walls right bout now, but in all fairness I can see why you guys worry." A look to Rennell before he was pushed inside. "Yes you are, if you weren't then I would be the third wheel, but I'm the first wheel so enjoy." And then the doors closed and the test began, and even though they were medical tests Adam didn't like them, but he only reminded himself that he had to do it once so he kept quiet as he was poked with needles, swabbed with Q-tips, and took a run for a few minutes.
"Damn needles..." Adam muttered when he walked out of the med bay. But as Adam walked out he came upon seeing Eric being pat down by the woman he spoke to over his com earlier. "And here I thought things wouldn't be so weird, but being frisked in public? Come on." But when the woman was done with everything Adam stuck out his hand and gave a smile. "Hello, I'm Adam Pike. It's a pleasure to meet you Ms...?"

"Woman. Thoughtful woman." Rennell's face said it all and she smirked. "Erik said 'us' but I wasn't sure how many 'us' would be so I did my best work and hypothesized." Reaching into the bag at her side and pulling out two more cups. "Radiance's best, Ren. Enjoy. And that leaves one for the new tech wherever he is."
She handed her own coffee to Erik and proceeded to search out the answer to the question of the lost sticky note. "All you have to do is ask. I have plenty of them and I'll be more than happy to lend you some anytime you like." Brushing her fingers over his back and then lighting up. "He's too big for me to flip but if you li- Aha! It's...inside your shirt. How did it get there?"
Blonde hair swung into her face as she whirled and faced the new tech who obviously thought it odd she'd been doing such things. "He stole my sticky note." And now she was blushing...well darn. Transferring her clipboard to her other arm, she clasped his hand. "Lillia. Welcome to Fleet."

"You're a sweetheart. I knew there was a reason that I'm never mad at you." Happily taking the cup from her and sipping at it for a moment. They were all coffee drinking pastry addicts, he was sure of it. He didn't seem too disturbed by the sight however, turning a raised eyebrow to Adam. "Oh this is nothing, it gets much more interesting in most cases."
"That's a very good question....space gnomes?" Shrugging but then he unbuttoned a few buttons and went about fishing out the little piece of paper with the long sticky edge. "Oh hey, I got it." Grabbing it off of himself he drew it out and handed it to her. "I didn't steal it. Maybe I just wanted it to smell like me so you'd have pleasant thoughts all day. Or maybe the sticky notes finally have a mind of their own and it loves me."

"Ah, the ever lost sticky note." His smile grew when he saw that blush cross her face, well now she did look even more cute with rosy cheeks. "Well it is a pleasure to meet you Lillia," and with those words he lifted her hand and pressed a kiss to it. "I hope we will cross paths often." Another smile for her before he let her hand go and was suddenly given a cup of coffee. "Ooh coffee." Taking a sip and grinning before turning to Rennell and raising an eyebrow. "Really? Oh joy, as long as it doesn't involve me." But then he turned to Eric and brought that eyebrow up again. "I'm guessing you being the head of Security and whatnot the notes feel protected when they are stuck to you." His eyes then drifted back to the medical bay and he made a small face. "Anything else we have to do? Or will the training come tomorrow and such?"

"I just like to keep everyone happy. If coffee does it, then it's a small offering." She quirked an eyebrow at Eric as he went about fishing out her note and she held it in between her thumb and forefinger, glancing over the code. "I'm not buying it. You wanted me to come looking for it so you could have an excuse to see me gussied up in your uniform." But she lifted it to her nose and inhaled anyway. "You aren't using that new soap I picked up for you. That smells good. This smells like a hospital."
Her gaze slid over to the newbie and she shook her head. "You're supposed to be on my side. Then again, men do stick together. You'll learn eventually, I'm sure." Taking another sip of her coffee and smiling at the three troublemakers. "So boys, what toys are we playing with today?"

"Nope. just the sound of you breathing heavily among other things."
a slight grin at her.
"Honestly I really do just hear the sounds of my own bionics. gentle hum of them in my head, the sounds of the echoes come to mind. Cerebus snoring in three part harmony."
a slight chuckle.
"the sounds of rennel fleeing is somethign you hear after like a wedding and right before a honeymoon. you know the REALLY nice sounds."

"I have to use up one soap before I can use the other. I would feel wasteful if I didn't..." Oh lord, they had one of those flirt boys on board again. Sometimes it seemed like there weren't enough women to go around. That or said women were smitten with their gadgets and discoveries. Science geeks, cute. "Good theory. The sticky note wanted me to protect it. But truth be told, head of security is only a part time thing for me. I'm beloved assisstant first, security second. Though to Captain Noris, that matters not when there's things to be done." Chuckling lightly, "Does newbie count as a toy?" Rolling his eyes again at the ever impatient one. "Training is tomorrow. They don't want to torment you too much. Vomit is not a good thing in space."
"Oh I'm sure it will involve you. You're not one of us if you don't find yourself in at least one very compromising situation." Sipping at his coffee some more with a flex of metal wings behind himself a little whir of a gear or two. He did snicker though. "That manly smell wasn't doing it for her hm Eric?"
"Some nights you remind of a refrigerator. In the good way, mind you. I sleep good to the sound of such things." Coming from a woman whom slept cheek down against a keyboard more often than not, it was indeed a compliment. However she gave a snicker-snort as she took the ship out of idle and took back to the controls. Couldn't float out in space forever after all. But she did shake her head lightly when it came to Rennell. "And somehow my brilliant mind is conjuring up the notion that you just can't wait to go chase him down now."

Adam had to roll his eyes at Rennell. "Well then with the ides that have been popping up in my head ever since Eric and I went through the main bay, I have a good feeling I'd been on the receiving end of a few lectures." Hence why he really wanted to just get his training over with, couldn't they see that he just wanted to work? Though he looked to Lillia and he smiled a bit. "Trust me, coffee is the best offering anyone could give, especially to those like us." A blink though as she took a sniff of Eric and his eyebrow went up. "Okay...forget the frisking, that was weird."
Adam looked at Lillia when she spoke of picking sides and he scoffed. "I've just met you all, so I won't be picking sides for awhile. But only 'cause you brought me coffee makes you a little better than these two." Jerking his thumb to the others. "And Eric is last because he had to make me sit through damn tests and now I have to go through training." A look to Eric and he grinned. "Well even so, you only seem to look the type as security guard, it's your build." But Adam then shook his head. "I'm not a toy." Pulling out his gun and he twirled it on his finger before grasping it. "This is a toy, sort of. Mostly it's a phaser gun I created after being able to harvest lava." Which was why the handle was see through and a red liquid moved around inside. But the rest of a gun looked like a normal desert eagle magnum from the twenty first century. "I practice with it mostly. It's hot as hell though, hence the leather gloves. But don't worry, it has settings and the lowest setting wont cause any damage to the ship, mostly it stuns anything it hits." Though with a small sigh Adam placed his gun back in its holder and pressed a hand to his forehead. "Oh joy, now I know not to eat a big breakfast tomorrow..."
