fullyalive0 xXbluefoxXx fullyalive0 xXbluefoxXx xGreenxAngelx Kytesc Okay, first things first, not all guys who play flute are gay. That's a stereotype. Hell, a lot of the top floutists out there are men soooo....please drop them stereotypes please. We used to have a guy flute at our school last year. Then people that didn't even know him started rumors that he was gay and whatnot, so he quit. Our director was really pissed... First off, a lot of the gay guys I know a pretty awesome. Second, who cares if a guy can play the flute?! My band's also got two guys who play the clarinet and another that plays the oboe. And usually only girls play them in our school. No one says s**t to them, but when a guy plays the flute, here come the accusations! stare People suck... Yeah. People do suck. Theres this one guy I like, and his best friend told me that he used to play flute in like 5th grade, but he quit because people were making fun of him. If it weren't for those losers, I could be spending a lot more time with him. Some people need to be shoved in a bass drum and rolled down a hill. stare why not stick them in a room full of evil band directors (only the evil ones) and give them an insrtrument, tell them to play and let the Evil directors give them push ups b/c they arent tuned! no thats to harsh..OH WELL! Lol yeah. And so what if its harsh? They deserve it. And then after the band directors... then they get shoved in a bass drum and rolled down a hill. I've always wanted to do that, so it has to be in there xp sounds fun! WOHOO! *gos get the bass drum* umm i got one of the small marching ones, do you think we could shove them in it! Well actually. one of my best friends is a guy flute player! we sit next toeach other we have great fun i dont know what i'd do without him. he's staright as a post:] and well i also know a gay guy flute player so i dont do stereotypes!! :]

Sakura[CherryBlossom] akiachii Sakura[CherryBlossom] Uhm... Hi... I'm Katie. I play open-hole flute at my Highschool... Sweetie you do realize that open-hole flute is the same as a regular C flute or B flat Flute just has better tuning right?Sakura[CherryBlossom] PanickedKarma I'm a flute playa in the concert AND marching band.... people like to strip naked in our band, how about yours? ...Wow... In our band, people like to screw around. We usually have people bursting through doors, tackling each other, or just talking. Its lots of fun~! Oh man that's awesome but thank the heavens above us that our band members keep their clothes on unless we are changing. We've got people who are in drama, art, and choir in band as well. So like half of us don't care about changing in front of each other and they other half are like "OMG where'd you clothes go!" We have a lot of fun, we're pretty small so we get close like I had our gay Asian trumpet player (he actually just plays the trumpet he's not a trumpet player) draped over me hugging me from behind so that he could get closer to a drummer so that he could pet the drummer's hair. XD
As for male flute players we have none and the only full on homosexual kid is the before mentioned Asian. And our flutes are more like "Dude... I think we need sleep.... aww you're so pretty! Yay hugs!" That's us we are like... really weird and actually make shopping fun. I don't like shopping it sucks everything is too big or too short.Yes, I realize that, but its also ALOT harder to play. Especially when you've only played it for a month. I dunno. No one else in my band plays it. Well, to correct myself, no one plays it with the hole plugs out, except for me. Makes me feel strange, since I'm a freshman and all... But, a flute is a flute, and nothing will ever change that! I have a buncha friends like yours. Well, different, but we're like a huge family. Everytime a flute is wearing a skirt, someone will yell out "HEY! Keep your legs closed, [inset name]!!" just for the hell of it. A Baritone player actually ran up to the flute sections yelling "NO! NO! NOT YET!" It was really funny! That sounds about right. Although I've nearly flashed people because of my friends luckily this wasn't in band XD. Oh man I was changing in the Green Room one day after I was done doing costumes and like the other flute player was so laughing at me 'cause I got stuck in my dress, like it all got stuck on my bust and would come down so the SM had to come and help me get dressed. The other flute player is our first chair she thought that was so funny. And it was but geez it's hard to change for a concert or other function when you get stuck in your clothes!

TearsofSaturn Yay flutes!!!! So let's see... I've been playing for eight years {started in 1st grade sweatdrop } and I also play piccolo now. I'm a freshman playing in a freshman band {'cuz I wasn't allowed to audition for higher... stare Grrr...}. There are no specific chairs, but I've pretty much been elected section leader by all the other flute players. There are eleven of us in band. Not a horribly big number, but not the best either. I'm also part of a prep-orchestra of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra {PYA}. I'm 4th chair in that. So, intro over with and on to chattingness.senshomaru I think im the only flute who can play sax tho, cause 4 of us play piano, all of us a percussion. I play sax too! Tenor to be exact. Anyways, I read some of the earlier posts and saw that some people said there were a lot of Asians in their section. Half of the flute section in my band is Asian, including me! xp And the thing about boys playing flutes: Some of the most amazing flute players I know are guys. Even the best flautists in the world are men. Playing the flute means just that. There is no reference whatsoever to whether you're gay or not. People who say such things are silly.
BTW, has anyone every heard or played "Poem" by Griffes? ELEVEN!!!! Wow there's 6 of us well sometimes five and one piccolos. Poem?? Nope I haven't if you have a link or a file I could listen to I'd love to. My Jon has the neatest music ever and shares some of it with me. He's such a cute kid.

alright I'm sure every one that posts in this topic will agree with me when i say starting with the flute is a pain but is also amusing after awhile.
i started playing the flute at school last year and well at first i wanted to give up because it was a pain in the a**, after awhile people in class ended up seeing how i started hating music so they all pitched in to help me get better.
Still after all that help I'm not that good but i enjoy it now so that makes all the deference as a flutist don't you guys agree ? ( and in general its always better to enjoy playing music no mater what the instrument ).
sweet done my post see yeah xD

I love the Flute, but I agree it can be a pain in the butt. But I've been playing it for six years. So I had trouble with it in the beginning but it's very interesting to play. Though I do play the piano, and I enjoy quite more than I do the flute.

The flute is kind of a pain, but then it's that much sweeter when you get good on it wink
And I'll say this for male flute players: all the ones I've ever met have been straight (as far as I know) and play better than me. (Or they did. I think I can take 'em now, after a few months of private lessons dramallama )
