((OOC: Well, five ribbons and one near-disaster later, I am back! Yay!))

Tekira felt the same odd exhaustion as before. She still disliked it, but knew she had to let it happen. The fact that she'd at least been warned this time helped a little. Closing her eyes, she fell asleep.

((Yay for best in show!))

Wraith halted upon a bridge connecting a spherical chamber to the ship. The sphere was maybey ten meters in diameter, and of an opaque grey color. "Step inside." A door opened and Wraith stepped in, expecting Aer to follow. Inside was a simple chair suspended from the celing above a flat floor. As the door closed behind them, Wraith took a seat. "Don't sit too far away, or else the powers of this place might rip you apart."

((OOC: Nah, we didn't have a best in show. But it was FUN!))

Red. All red.
As far as she knew, all she would ever see again was the dark red in front of her, around her, on her. It was everywhere.
The source of it lay limp in front of her, eyes blank and empty. They accused her with all the force of a thousand voices.
She had to defend herself. "I had to! I had to!"
A voice from behind her screamed, "What have you done?"

Not even the sleep spell could keep her under after that.
Tekira sat up with a scream.

Ikken Isshu

She fell to her knees, the hot sun beating down on the back of her neck. She could see that every inch of exposed skin was red and burnt. Fool girl that she had been, trying to cross the desert, but what choice did she have? Her Hearrte was pulling, and once the blood dried, she would no longer feel it. She had to hurry. It had been so important, then. Now, though... Her hands touched the sand, the scalding hot sand. She pulled them away and looked around.

There, in the distance--a glint of something, maybe a mirage, maybe water, but what choice did she have, again? She forced herself up and stumbled toward the light... Onward, and onward, and onward until it seemed she had been staggering through the desert for days... She saw it now, close, so close... She bent to her knees, te water so close she could feel it in the air... And then...

She half-opened her eyes as someone was shaking her by the shoulders. In a flash, she had drawn her left katana with her right hand, but before she could steady it, she dropped it beside her. Her muscles wouldn't respond properly. She growled, and realized she was panting already. Where...? And she remembered. The desert. For the past five days, and she had run out of water two days ago.

"Who...?" she said, wincing. Her throat felt dry and cracked. "Who are you?"

((Five ribbons? Way to go!))

Faeandra untied the canteen at her waist quickly and handed it to the girl, hearing. Poor thing was severely dehydrated. "Here, you need water before you talk, or your mouth will start bleeding. My name's Faeandra. Mind telling me what happened?"

Aer blinked. "Ah--I can stand. Might help me to stay nearer, anyway." He placed one hand on the chair and kept a tight grip, not wanting to find out what would happen if he strayed too far away from the center of it.

~

Satsujin took the canteen and swallowed steadily for almost five seconds before she suddenly ripped it away from her face and stared at it. "I... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to drink so much, and we're in the middle of a desert... So stupid of me..." She shook her head and handed the canteen back, half-empty, looking disgusted with herself. She looked off over the horizon as if searching for something, but sighed when she obviously didn't find it.

"I... It was my Hearrte. I can't explain." Actually, it was more that she didn't want to explain. When people learned about Satsujin, and how she sensed her Hearrte, it tended to lower their opinions about her. She never killed unless she had to, but the nature of it remained. She would rather not endure another person looking at her like she was a cold-blooded killer. "I was searching for my Hearrte," she finished lamely. "I was a fool to try crossing this desert alone... They told me it would take a few days, but I must have gotten lost." She smiled weakly. "I'm... not a native of the area. Oh! I'm sorry, my name is Satsujin." And another embarassing secret. Thankfully, very few people understood the Gensanchi Islands Old Tongue--even the inhabitants. Satsujin herself only understood a few words, one of which was her name. "Murder". Of course, it was an old name; she had been named after a character in a legend. Her parents, apparently, hadn't known what the name actually meant. Satsujin hoped this woman, Faeandra, wouldn't either.

"Stay very still, but please allow your mind's eye to observe what is happening here." Wraith moved his hands to the seemingly pre-molded grooves on the chair where his hands fit perfectly. Suddenly, thousands of strands of magick struck out from the walls around them, each connecting to a different point on the man's brain. Pictures began appearing across the surfaces of the room, bringing in a view of the ships surroundings from all angles. With a swift rising motion, the ship was out of the tower and speeding over the wasteland. Far below, the scenery flashed by. Mostly empty wasteland, but a few travellers still roamed the vast dessert.

The picture sped over a view of two female travellers, one obviously not well, and continued on. Wraith spoke. "Do you see it? Once you are attuned, the ship will respond to your thoughts as if an extension of your body. It is a perfect harmony of man, magick, and machine. Orders carried out at the speed of thought. Tell me, what do you see?"

Aer's eyes widened and he gaped, but kept a white-knuckled grip on the chair. "Amazing," he breathed. "Whoever built this was a genius..." He paused. "But then, it was a goddess, wasn't it? Merq?" He shook his head at his own foolish question. "I see... I see three things. I see the interior of the room, the same as it was when I entered; I see countless magick threads, all of them connecting your... your head to the ship; and I see... It... It's as if the walls, the floor, everything was completely invisible. I can see the desert beneath us, the sky above us, your island receding into the distance behind us." He shook his head slowly. "It's beautiful," he murmured.

"Your senses are barely scatching the surface. Delve deeper, look harder! Find all the intracacies and nuances! Observe the interaction of mind, magick, and machine! Tell me, what doo you see!"
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:58 pm

((What am I supposed to see? O.o))

Aer shook his head. "I don't... Inside, I can see inside the ship as well, but it's dark, blurry. Like I'm looking through several windows. But..." He shook his head, squinting and blinking. "I can see everything inside the ship. Tek--" he broke off, turning a little red, but then frowned. "Wait. She's awake. And she looks troubled. Wraith, something is wrong with her."

Wraith chuckled. "Not like we can do anything about it now. We are not aloud to leave untill the ship nears our destination." The captain cast his own awareness into the cabin and indeed, saw a very troubled Tekira. "The best I can do for her is to send her back to sleep and alow for weaves of spirit to supress her dreams."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 08, 2007 11:13 pm

Aer's attention was totally enraptured when Wraith moved his head to look, and it was like every thread connected to him mirrored his action. Several of them brushed him, and his hair stood on end as if electrically charged.

"You're a bloody part of the ship right now, aren't you?" he breathed, incredulous.

"Precisely," came the word in a voice that echoed of stored power and of ages long past from the lips of Wraith.

Aer shook his head, closing his eyes, but just as quickly opened them wide again.

"It's near," he murmured in a low voice. "I can feel it... tugging at me." He stared down, and saw the outskirts of the Donnol Islands. Pointing with a finger, he indicated the direction of the pull. "Over there. Go... slowly."

Wraith nodded as Aer pointed out the location and waved his hand. Instantly, Tekira and Janika were awakened and the ship had converted and compacted into two gitacrs, each with two seats. In one was seated Wraith and Janika, and the other held Aer and Tekira. Aer and Wraith were driving. "Lead on, Wind of Death!"
