Yeah, I know. GL himself set the precedent for the planet back when he made the Holiday Special, even if he and 95% of the world now regret it. It has been backed up in several video games, novels, and I swear a few comic books too. Then, suddenly, this latest rash goes against that. I vaguely remember seeing clips from Kashyyyk at the con last year and thinking "Nooooooooooooooooo!"

I mean sure, a coast and little villages make a good battlefield, but Zahn himself made ti so awesome whenn he described the tree cities and whatnot..

Well, if you think about it.
If you were doing battlefront in the forests, you'd have to worry about all the predators in the underbrush...
Or have cool deaths of falling off into hungry predator's mouths.
But also, if there wasn't coastilne, there wouldn't be much water. If there aren't bodies of water on a planet, it has very little water, and thus, few trees. Simple ecology.

I don't care about the whole water and coastline thing, but it made it out that the wookies have settlements, just on the ground....

I always wondered... If there are predators on the surface, why aren't they at the coasts, or attack the land settlements?

You would think that someone would eventually wonder that question though... I wonder if they revised the guide so that they would have an explanation for it.
It would be interesting... Wookies asleep, then wake up to find a predator on top of them....
I always wondered why waterfront property was so cheap...
