"Nah, the steed's usually white, and he doesn't have a bunch of peachish-beige on his face."
Playfully, she pressed the fleshy part of her pointer finger into his nose, then laughed to herself, for some reason amused by that. She pulled her feet up to her on the couch, then curled up into a ball, comforted by teh position more than made comfortable by it.
"I...I guess I shouldn't keep you here, though. I'm sure you've got lots of stuff to do."

"Gee, thanks for your confidence there..." Gaius muttered, though it was with wry amusement. He crossed his eyes as she pushed his nose, wrinkling it a bit, and he couldn't hold back a small snort that escaped him. Her laughter was probably better than he'd hoped for, and he laughed as well, glad that she could still be cheerful, even so soon after a change.
As she curled up, Gaius got up from the couch, pushing Vixen off as well though the dog seemed to be fancying the idea of curling up with Sophie, but the horse had her leash again.
"Mm, some stuff, but I don't want to keep you if you're tired, so I'll just head back to my duplex..." He padded across the carpet towards the door, resting a hand on the doorknob. "Feel free to call if you need me, okay?" he called over his shoulder as he headed out.

"Will do," Sophie called back, getting up on shaky legs to let him out. She peeked her head out from the door frame to watch him leave, then when she was sure that he was gone, closed the door, locking it behind her. She had some things that she needed to do anyways.

[The Final Phase RP]It's been several months since the project began. The process has been slow, impeded by changes, rain, and the labs, but with the help of many islanders, the theater has been drawing to completion. The remnants of the lumber sit in their usual piles around the stage. Gaius has set out his 'blueprints' table-more a wide sheet of plywood atop two wooden horses-with the sketched plans laid out. The general layout of the theater looks like this and this. The supports had long been put in, as well as the side coverings, but one corner of the stage flooring, that is, what the actors will be walking on, needs to still be nailed in. Along with that, the stairs have been cut, but not built, and the same goes for the two tall beams for the curtain. A couple hands could be useful in those tasks. And there is still the matter of the pulley system for the curtains... -- Gaius groaned slightly as he shifted from one leg to the other. The run last night had been cathartic at the time, but now he was dealing with the consequences of his physical exertion. Both legs were about as stiff as rusted gates, and the rolling movement of his run had gone and jarred his tweaked neck and wing. "Maybe I should put someone else in charge..." he muttered to Vixen, patiently sitting nearby. But his mood wasn't as gloomy as it might've been. There'd been promises of help, and things were looking up. Already Oz was there, an invaluable source of sheer muscle as he worked on hauling over boards and setting them across the supports for the stage floor. Gaius leaned on his make-shift table and glanced back at the village. "Wonder who else will come...?" (( This will work kinda like the Halloween Party RP, with fluid open posting. There is no posting order, just respond to what you can in your posts! And no need to ask if you can join or not, all are welcome if you want to add in your character! They can come in and see others working and help them, or ask Gaius for a task (though he's not very good at assigning them, just so you know XD), or you can write them as already being there from some earlier time and they've been working in the background. There's already some tasks needing to be done that I mentioned, but other stuff can be done too, if someone wants to tackle the idea of a pit/pool for aquatics in the audience. And accidents are good as well! And Amy asked me to write in Oz, so he'll be there in the background providing muscle where needed. This RP will continue until tomorrow, or whenever it seems to draw to a good finish, give or take a day. Have fun! ))

Aislinn walked by slowly, leaning heavily on her walker. She'd been seeing this place for a while-- how could she not? But she hadn't really been too interested in it. She never saw anyone she knew working on it, and really, she wasn't one to sign up for work if she didn't have to.
Still, today the theatre caught her eye. Well, less the theatre and more the man in charge. She hadn't seen any other equine islanders before now, and indeed hadn't really been aware there -were- any.
She smiled, "Hello there," she said, making her way over, "What's this?"

It wasn't hard to tell whenever construction was going on: the noises were more than enough for Sophie to pick up with the enlarged 'hearing aids' coming out of her head. Despite the fact that the last time Sophie had come across the place, she'd ended up with a furry face, she half-jogged to the site with a bit of anticipation: where construction was, Gaius was, and she'd never gotten around to asking him about singing since the incident back in April.
Recognizing the horse man from a distance, she sped up her pace, though her gait was awkward with her strange feet, and it was a little while before she actually got to him, a smile on her face as she admired the theaters construction, greeting him with a short, "Hey, there."
Her eyes went from him to the scene and back, ideas infecting her mind from the familiar shape of a theater, even if it was unfinished. "Wow, you guys have gotten a lot accomplished since, oh, how long's it been..." She paused, counting on her fingers. "Six months?" Yeah, that sounded about right: it'd been around her birthday the last time she'd seen the place.

It was good Gaius'd been looking towards the village as the two approached. It gave him the chance to gawk and double-take before it became too obvious.
Gaius was likewise unaware there were other horse-serum-based islanders around, but more surprising than that was the fact she had an almost entire horse BODY for where her waist should be.
He'd heard of centaurs, but seeing them in books and in movies was quite different from seeing an attempt at crafting one in real life.
Trying to compose himself, the gave her a smile, flashing his large incisors in his nervousness. "Hi... er, this? Why, this is the theater we're building, of course!" he proclaimed, waving a hand behind him. "Though it's not much to look at quite yet..."
The smaller, big-eared girl caught his attention, causing most of his nervousness to melt away as he greeted her. "Hey! Sophie!"
He winced. "Yeah... six months about... geeze, has it really been that long?"
Turning back to the centaur-girl, he offered a smile. "I'm Gaius, just so you know. The one running this thing... And this here is Sophie." Glancing between the two, he smiled. "You two came to offer some help?"

Feeling guilty for leaving both dogs behind at the duplex the evening before, Lucas walked to the construction site with both Dasher and Reuben in tow. Both dogs were excited by the trip outside, especially Dasher. When he had figured out they were headed toward the construction site he became even more excited. It was probably an amusing or strange site to see the dog-man walking along with his "pack" running around beside him.
It had taken a while for him to fall asleep, especially after hearing some pretty bad news from Gaius the night before, but Lucas did feel somewhat rested. Capable enough to help out at the theater. He had promised, too. He was still uncomfortable with the idea of being around other people, though. After Gaius' reaction to his eye, he could only wonder how other people would. So he searched through his closet and found a white remnant of fabric that had been used to make Gaius' shirts. Tying it around his head, across his eye, he then looked himself in the mirror.
He looked ridiculous.
But it was the best he could do. He would either have to give in and request an eyepatch or get used to people gawking and being grossed out by his eye.
As he approached the theater, he fidgeted with the cloth on his face nervously. It made he glad that he had worn the thing over his eye when he realized the two other people that were already there were two girls.
Since both seemed to be talking with Gaius, Lucas kept his distance and instead looked over what had been done during his absence. While Lucas did that, Dasher ran over to greet Vixen with Reuben close behind.

She took a small step back as the others approached, looking them over as well and crossing an arm over her bare chest as she rested one arm against the walker to steady her. The girl was fuzzy with long ears, but that meant somewhere near nothing as far as determining which species of animal she might be turning into. The young man was obviously some variety of canine, though she wasn't going to guess what.
And this Gaius was equine, but the wings...well, they were certainly not equine at all. He must've been the victim of some sort of experiment like hers, only involving wings instead of only half a change.
She tilted her head, "I'm Aislinn. A theatre, you say? What for?" Help? Well, she supposed if there was anything she -could- do she'd help, but...
"Er. I'm not much good with tools, and less so now that...well, I can't really stand on my own."
She smiled, "But I could try if you can find something for me."

"Sure! I'd be glad to help wherever you need me!" Adding a particularily cheerful note to the tone in her voice, she gave Gaius a salute, the grin speading across her face and the tag in her ear tinkling with the movement. Her glance turned to the other horse girl, and she blinked a moment in surprise at her nudity before collecting herself enough to offer greetings.
"Uhm...I've never seen you around before. My name's Sophie," she said, nodding as her gaze went back to the construction site, taking note of an obviously canine man with two dogs at some distance away. Curious, but not wanting to seem odd, she glanced at him for a moment before her focused turned back to the other two, awaiting orders from Gaius.

It was odd, being back on the construction site. Seeing how far it had gone, despite every thing, was kind of awe-inspiring for the penguin. He looked around; he couldn't even find the place where he broke his arm so long ago.
So long ago...? It was barely a couple of months! Marshall thought as he continued wandering. He smiled, seeing his long-necked freind from a distance.
"Hey!" he called out, picking up his pace as he came over, seeing a strange horse woman, an oddly familiar cat woman, and his newly made acquaintance, Lucas.

One of the benefits of Aislinn's long hair was, in his distraction, Gaius had assumed perhaps she was wearing some light tan shirt, or maybe a bikini top. However, as she got closer and Gaius actually looked above her horse body, he found that was not the case.
Whatever wasn't covered in black hair, from the top of his ears down across his neck and shoulders, turned bright red.
Spinning around quickly, Gaius locked his eyes on the blueprints. He had not looked at her chest! He had not looked at her chest! He didn't mean to!
"R-Right! So, uh, right, a job... uh, well, the steps still need to be put together. You could sit and hold the boobs-IMEANBOARDS together! While Sophie nails them in place!"
Why oh why were women so good at making things awkward?
"The t-tools are over there..." he stammered, continuing to keep his face away from the girls, and waved a hand in the general direction of the supplies.

Nicky's attention had been drawn toward the sound of activity...if he was going to find out the information he needed, may as well be with more than one of those things at once. He shuddered, remembering Victor and his odd speech...With a sigh, he put on his game face: calm exterior with a slight smirk, and straightened his tie. Nicky was back into his tailored suit, looking sharp once again.
As he walked toward the scene in front of him, he paused...there were quite a few...most of 'em you could see remnants of humanity in their features...at least remnants was better than nothing. Better than Victor. He stayed back a bit, out in the open...but not coming any closer. He wanted to watch for a bit before he built up the courage to come near them.

Content to be on his own, Lucas continued to walk around the theater. He was rejoined by Reuben, who wasn't as interested in hanging out with Vixen as much as Dasher was.
Taking a seat on one of the logs laid out in the ground, the dhole pat the dog on the head. He was still waiting for the girls to move on. His plan for the day was to keep his distance from the others as best as he could.

Sadly, Lucas wouldn't get his wish if Marshall had any thing to do with it. As Gaius seemed busy talking to the startling familiar fox girl and the horse girl (who had her back to him, thankfully), Marshall turned his attention to the orange acquaintance he made the day prior.
"Hey! Lucas!" Marshall called out, reaching into his vest pocket, pulling out a large pile of envelopes.
