Anthony, sitting in the study, heard a voice calling him. He carefully placed down his pen, marked his place with a bookmark and got to his feet. Sliding the chair back into it's place, he headed out to seewho was there. The informal voice wasn't one he recognised immediately and he wondered if this was one of the Ar'Idilian's he had only briefly met.
He walked out to see Wyv and her wisp. Immediately fascinated he walked over to them quickly. "Welcome, welcome, what can I help you with?" he asked. It had been a long while since anyone had been at the Lodge to see him and he was rather enjoying the thought he could be of help!

"Hey," she nodded, Makai imitating the gesture. "I got all the items requested in your letter." She patted the box she held with her free hand. "I was, uh, wondering what was next. Figured I'd come by, leave the stuff if you weren't here."
Makai zipped forward and waved enthusiastically. "Tho-nee~!" He proclaimed.

Grinning, Anthony greeted the enthusiastic wisp "Hello...Makai" the name came to him. He nodded to Wyvernscale.
"Ahh... I see, I see! You have quite a time ahead of you then. He motioned to a relatively clear spot on the polished wooden floor. Put them all down over here... and his joined album too." he noted the drum and remembered that Makai was to be a musician. It would be wonderful to hear what the little musician would come up with once he hadproper hands to play with!
Anthony got to he knees where he had indicated, waiting for Wyv.

Wyv nodded and knelt as well. Carefully, she placed the drum on the floor. Next, she spread the cloth and set the small pile of shells on it, then added the braclet, the feather and the twine. There was no real rhyme or reason to the pile and she frowned at it. "Like that?" she asked.
Something important was going on. Makai felt it in his... well, he didn't really have bones, but he felt it anyways. The wisp watched the proceedings solemnly... from an upside down position. Solemn occasion or not, Makai would always be himself.

Anthony was about to go forward and sort the pile in some way, things began to move quickly. Anthony automatically stepped back as the items each began to glow softly. The blue glow which surrounded each item reacted together, swirling, sparking and slowly merging together, tugging at Makai's transparent form.
Makai was tugged down slightly as the blue mist began to slowly suffuse him. He became more solid slowly, shining blue feathers and soft tawny fur emerged before, uncermoniously, Makai dropped head first, quite solidly, to the floor.
Anthony winced as the young child fell, automatically reaching forward to see if the boy was hurt. This, he thought, could be considered a 'hard birth' for an Aerandir. He'd have to remember to warn against this in the future.

THUNK! Ow, That hurt! As Makai inhaled to let out a wail of pain that would do air sirens proud, he stopped. Pain. Hitting the ground. He was solid again! He could hug Wyv! HE COULD PLAY HIS DRUM!
His owie suddenly forgetten, scrambled to his feet. Or tried to. He wasn't geared for scampering on all fours any more and two legs was so.. unstable. He gracelessly teetered backward onto his behind and grabbed at the closest hew-mon: Anthony.
Wyv was awestruck. Again. Truly, this Aerandir experience was like nothing else she'd imagined. Then again, she wasn't sure what she'd imagined for a gryphon becoming a anthropomorphic being, but sh was sure this wasn't it. "Wow," she breathed, astonishment audible.
As Makai hit the ground, she darted to him, but Anthony reached him first. He seemed to be okay, judging by his awkward enthusiasm to to stand. "You okay there, Blu?" She asked, scooting closer.
"Uh-huh!" He bobbed his whole boddy, all the while reaching for his drum.

His breath let out fast as the young child grabbed hold of him. Even having seen it before the transformation sitll stunned him. A living, breathing, wailing child had come from the transparent wisp. Such odd creatures, these Aerandir.
Anthony smiled to Makai, noting the boy already going for his precious drum and then turned to Wyv. "Quite a miracle isn't it?"

"Ah." She nodded her agreement. "It's..." so many words came to mind, such a wild, wonderful amzaing thing, this transition. "Breathtaking." She inhaled and exhaled slowly. "What a rush." Seeing the object of Makai's desire, she carefully slid it over to the newly solidified Aerandir.
Makai gave a happy squeal before springing from Anthony to latch on to the Drum. He coiled around it lovingly. It was what he had longed to do, ever since that first all to brief tap before becomming a wisp. Cautiously, he began to pat out a very basic rhythm. Bump, bump, bump. It resembled a heartbeat, surprisingly calm and steady.
"... are all the stages... quite so dramatic?" Wyv asked Anthony, honestly interested.

"Those I've seen are those you've seen" he admitted. We've been unable to find out about their transition to young-adulthood, they're all very secretive about it..." He watched the pair of them. Wyv over Makai, both enthusiastic and both bursting with... life. He grinned and slid onto the floor, legs crossed and simply watching and listening.

Wyv nodded thoughtfully at that. "Huh." Of course there were other Aerandir, she knew that in an abstract sense, and she'd seen the other children from the other island. It was just a shock to know that there were other older Aerandir though. She was vaguely sadened by the idea that she wouldn't be allowed to witness his next transition, however far away it might be.
Makai was intently focused on his drum, trying out different things and noting the differences in tone and resonance depending on where he hit the drumhead. He had given up on a steady beat and was pounding away as his heart desired. This was so COOL! He supposed that he'd miss being able to pop through walls and stuff, but this, oh, this was bliss.

(( I'm typing this, assuming Anthony and Wyv aren't around anymore... razz ))
Ah, the moral battle once again.
Progolo hated taking food from the lodge, despite that it was there for the Keepers to use as they needed. It went against everything he believed in. It felt like stealing.
Still, he had to get sugar somehow.
As he searched through the cupboards, Kala was sitting forlornly on the floor, fussing and pawing at her long ears with awkward hooves. Drinking upside-down had its disadvantages, and getting water in her ears was one of them.
Progolo paused, seeing her discomfort, and his face softned with pity.
"Here, now...tip your head, maybe that will help the water run out," he cooed, taking ahold of her beak gently and tilting her neck. Kala protested through her clamped beak.

The evening had brought in not only the sun, but three characters from their house. Armed with a slip of paper, a pencil, three safety pins (heaven knows what would happen if Blanche stepped on one) and a piece of folded cardboard, the three appeared to be on a mission. Humming to herself, Emi rounded the oh-so-familiar corner to the kitchen; half expecting it to be vacant.
"Alright then, fridge and then we'll post up the note - ok?" Turning her heel, the woman entered the kitchen: stopping at the doorway. She hadn't noticed them yet. The one the question was posed at sat on her shoulder, the pristinely white gryphon happily perched paw over paw in front of a mass of curly brown hair.
Blanche noticed them first. Spreading her speckled wings, she glided down onto the kitchen tabletop. Her paws seemed to run along the air, running her flight path down onto the table. Like an expert pilot, it looked like she'd receive yet another perfect landing.
It wasn't to be the case. Her head had turned at the last minute.
Emi's metallic blue orbs followed her gryphon's golden gaze, following down onto a man she almost recognized. Something about him stroke a cord, something about a gryphon? Her large ears flickered back against her hairline, the darkened tips twitching ever so slightly. Say hello, just say hello. "Ah, hello?" Slowly her gaze found its way down to the little gryphon at his side. A flamingo and a giraffe, it had to be two long-necked creatures. Her face almost instantly softened, a smile re-forming slowly.
Curling her tail before Blanche's flight path met with a tin from the cupboard, the lithe gryphon dropped onto her stomach on the side. Rather un-ceremoniously, she crawled one paw before the other: looking more like an army soldier looking for a safe spot. Small ears twitched against her head, golden eyes fixing onto the fridge and then back down to Kalarune. What exactly was that man doing to her?

Progolo jumped at the sound of Emi's voice, having become nervous due to the 'moral outrage' he was performing by raiding the kitchen. Besides, it looked pretty bad...he was being gentle, but clamping his Aerandir's beak closed and twisting her very fragile-looking neck would appear quite questionable to any who didn't know his honest intention.
He released Kala and stood suddenly, his hand clutching his jittery heart.
"Ah! You startled me," Progolo stuttered awkwardly, his eyes flickering quickly between the woman and the immaculate, snow-white Aerandir. Not only did he feel guilty, he was doing a wonderful job of acting the part. He cursed himself.
Kala, relieved at being let go, gave an inarticulate and rather unpleasant squawk and resumed trying to massage the water out of her ears with her bony legs.

Kala relaxed for a moment to look up at the creature looming on the table above her. Good grief, it looked scary! She clattered to her feet and scurried behind Progolo's leg. It's eyes were huge!
But she was too curious to let fear get in her way. Her neck twisted back around her keeper's ankle, her sore ears erect.
"Wark," she stated. Her voice was hardly musical, but it sounded welcoming and innocent. She was too entranced by the frightening creature to even notice the dog.
"N-no, don't worry...just...took me off-guard, that's all," he said, hoping his rapidly beating heart would slow sometime soon. He flinched slightly as the dog went past, still feeling laced with guilt, but his eye was caught by the brown fur.
Something clicked.
He smiled shakily. "Ah, I remember you...When the volcano...yes, I remember." Trying to get himself to relax, he looked at the white spectre haunting the kitchen table. His weak smile faded, replaced by an impressed and awe-struck expression. "Oh my..."
