Amie had grown up right in the orphanage, she had been left there when she was very little. However she was told part of her heritage and knew a few cultures. "Well I am a hybrid, I am part neko. Form them I take my selectiveness when it comes to courting. Most would mate for love despite what someone looks like. I care just as much that they have good genes and would look good with me. I am part imp, from them I take my love of cooking, it is something that makes me very happy and I enjoy spending time doing it. I am also part Grimm from them I take my choice to not worship the nine, I have looked into some of the different gods the shamans believe in and I think those are more likely than the nine." Amie realized she was pretty mixed up about who she was but that was to be expected with a mixture of so many cultures.

Cotty thought that this was a silly topic, she didn't really care about others culture she realized that there were other cultures but she didn't see the need to bother herself with them. She knew little of her own as she was also a hybrid but she did think about the way that her races cultures actually did effect who she was. "My siblings probably identify more with the imp culture than I do, I know my brother wants to own his own business, and that's part of imp culture The only thing that might effect me is the having a big family. I have a couple siblings and i know that my family is only going to get bigger as time goes on. I don't really feel like I identify with my fallen side at all, like its really big that they want to learn about their past and i don't really care about my past. I guess maybe I might one day but i don't think so." She felt like she explained the culture of her races pretty well or atleast a fun fact about it.

In the back of the social studies classroom, a red, white and black naga could be found curled up. Reign was a quiet little freshling, and they didn’t often speak up in class. Let the others do it, they thought. They would much rather prefer to listen. While the teacher spoke of differences in culture, however, Reign wrote down on a sheet of paper wordlessly.
Lots of people can do things differently when it comes to their culture. Family might be different, or how one person shows another that they like each other. Religion might be different. Even something like food and drink can be unique. These are just some of the many things that might be unique depending on the Nightmare or Daydream…
After a while, they then stopped writing. Once their pencil had stopped moving, Reign glanced up and looked in the direction of their teacher. They then murmured out in a hushed tone, ”Family is important for we naga.” Slitted red eyes then fell on a few imps in the class, a race that was also big on family. ”...But for us, the Mother is the most important…” They then shrugged their shoulders some, the rattle on their tail shaking ever so slightly. ”...Also, for us, the Nine are naga.” This was added in a tone barely above a whisper. The last thing Reign wanted to do by saying this belief the naga’s held was offend any of the other students who didn’t hold that particular belief. The teacher asked, though, so Reign just wanted to answer truthfully.

As an exchange student from Above, Aurum the dryad was definitely out of her element within the realm of Below. There were numerous differences that she could list off, starting with the fact that it was really way too dark in Below in comparison to her hometown, but she kept quiet about that. Instead, she raised her hand for a moment and told Professor Tethys, ”Fire magic isn’t allowed for the dryad.” Never in a million years would she ever consider using such magic. Never ever. Such beliefs had been drilled in them from the moment they were old enough to understand what magic could do.
”We also give each other flowers if we really like someone,” she went on to say, her little cheeks flushing a faint pink at the mention of such a ritual. ”You don’t even need to talk. You can understand what they want to say just by the flowers…” As a freshling, there was no way the dryad would have ever received such a gift, but that didn’t stop the girl from dreaming. The thought of an elaborate dryad bouquet made her heart flutter, and it was kind of nice to think back on the traditions of her culture. She never really gave it that much thought before.

Onaona, much like Aurum, was also an exchange student from Above. Unlike the dryad, however, she had the luxury of having her two siblings along with: her brother, Aukai and her twin sister, Inina. The specked Naiad knew fully well just how different her kind were from not even just the people of Below, but from the others who called Above their home as well. ”...We can spend our whole lives underwater..” came the girl’s response, which was barely above a whisper.
Being in a large group of students was hard enough, let alone talking in front of everyone! If the Naiad’s nerves weren’t evident enough when she first stepped into the classroom, they were certainly visible now. The poor little freshling was shaking like a leaf. ”And...and we always...gotta be wet,” she went on to add, trying her hardest not to burst into tears from being so anxious. ”If we don’t, we can get sick.” Not many others, Nightmare or Daydream, could probably understand what that was like. The Nixie, perhaps, but even with them it wasn’t really the same.
"...Water is better than air."

Zigari stared down at the paper in front of them. An assignment to write about cultural differences had been given to them and Zigi’s heart and nerves had increased. There was very little the naga remembered about their actual family. Bits and pieces of memories lay scattered along their mind and it was very hard to recall them or put them back together into anything that resembled a past before being thrown into the system. There was one memory, in particular, that Zigi remembered. It involved two of his moms touching their noses together. Trying as hard as they could, Zigi tried to recall as much of the conversation about this as they could. Apparently it was a sign of acceptance for the two courting parties.
Zigari began writing, explaining it the best they could without sounding too clueless. They didn’t know what the courtship practices of the other races were but Zigi did know that this was at least a small part of the naga’s traditions.

Cleo listened to the other students with genuine curiosity. While she loved reading books and accumulating knowledge, things like culture and values doesn't come across as well in texts as it does from individuals. She was so interested in memorising what the other children were saying, she almost didn't notice when she was called upon. Cleo winced slightly, not enjoying social interactions, but all she had to do was think of it as a presentation rather than a conversation.
"I think people think Baphomets are unique because of their.. ah, our... close friendships and hospitality,” she emphasised this last word, rather proud that she pronounced it correctly the first attempt.
Cleo continued, "That's nice, of course, but not really what I find unique. I think it's interesting that Baphomets always remember their debts and what they've done for others, to make sure others do something for them, too. It's only fair, after all." She sat down quickly, eager to move on.

"I really want to learn about my goblin lineage ... " Pearl spoke softly, hugging her tail around her lower legs. "I know enough about litch culture, like how litches are the only ones who can practice necromancy, but goblins ... that part of myself ... I know nothing about it. There are no books, no traces of information I have access to here in below. I've tried bugging some older goblins, but they ran away from me ... I think ... goblins are really, really secretive ... "Pearl sighed gently. "So I guess ... litches ... our three core values are patience, temperance, and knowledge. They're sort of like ... our virtues? Which is probably why it bothers me so much that I know nothing about my goblin heritage ... so I think ... that's why ... I'm unique? Being a hybrid of races that have such opposing values ... "

"Well, I'm part geist and part litch ... for the litch, the core values are thrice: knowledge, patience, and temperance. For geists, it's cunning and manipulation. I couldn't be further from my geist heritage. A lot of my family, except for maybe my sister, on the geist side of the family are very laid back, and have never pranked or attempted to manipulate someone before. My dad is very gentle and kind, my younger siblings are ... were sweet as well. My sister Dahlia, though ... " Laviticus shuddered. "She was the epitome of geists. She probably ... even gave most geists a bad rep. Not only was she cunning and manipulative, but ... Dahlia's just pure evil. She tried to transform herself in to my dad ... it was ... it was ... intense. To say the least. I'm glad I seem to have more of the litch blood in me. I am grateful for my family, even if I don't necessarily agree with some of the cultural values ... "

"Imps really value friendship. It's something that I'm sure a lot of people value, but imps in particular are known for being highly affectionate creatures. We're the kind of people who will always do a friend a solid, and have their backs. We also tend to get a little carried away with our trinket collections and can border one being hoarders sometimes. I'm actually not that big of a collector myself -- save a few oversized comic book groupings I have. But let's face it, when you're in to comics, you can't just collect one issue and be done with it. You need to collect all of them so you can finish the whole story. You can't just own and read issues 1 and then skip to number 78. That's just stupid.
But yah, outside of that; not a real collector. My sister Abel has a looot of stuff tho. Way too much for her own good, I'd wager. She's the perfect example of an imp: affectionate and friendly, large social circle, collector of anything and everything. Yup. My sister, ladies and gentleman. A real imp winner."

Lyra remained quiet as she focused on what her brother was saying. She didn't want to repeat him at least. She decided that she would write her response, rather that standing, seeing how nervous that made her brother and she was not the most keen on speaking in from of the other students. She listened intently as she decided what to write about their customs. She wanted something that was unique to her race and not the other races, though she didn't know enough about them to know what was unique to Kirin or not. "Us Kirin," She smiled, glancing back at her brother, "We love our hair. Having long hair is really good and cutting it is really bad." She thought for a moment before writing more and mumbling to herself as she went. "And brushing someones hair means you probably like them." She nodded, liking what she had written.

Oh dear why did it have to be different cultures? Arinas didn’t really pay attention to them, in their household at least most of the members tended not to be too big on culture. After all 2/3’s of the house was hybrids so there was a bit of a disconnect between the cultures and they just really went about it however they liked. Of course that wouldn’t help him with the assignment so Arinas tried to think if Mr. Morginn or Ms. Araceae had said anything about things they might have done differently from their time living in Above. “I can’t say that we have any special cultural customs that are different from other races in my house. Other than Mr. Morginn and Ms. Araceae we’ll all hybrids. Dad did come from a fallen family but there where issues so he doesn’t really follow Fallen culture.” Arinas started shuffling his feet. His grandparents where touchy subjects and he didn’t like to dwell on their faults, besides the class hardly needed to know about that. With a deep breath Arinas started up again. “However I did talk with Ms. Araceae once and she told me about Dyrad culture that her family practiced. They don’t worship the nine like we do. They worship nature spirits and sacred trees instead and if you different tree markings then the tree your tribe worships you get shunned, sent to another tribe or ignored.” Well it wasn’t exactly the happiest custom but it was a custom.

Vega listened to the others as they spoke, and nodded when his siblings talked. "There's a festival that we hold in the spring, when all the flowers are blooming. Well, not everyone participates, but it's really fun. It's all about fashion and hair styles. It's three days of pageants and and shopping and looking at all the new hair accessories and the special oils and soaps for your hair and skin." Vega actually seemed really excited about this little fashion show. "You should see some of the hair styles people will do for the pageants! There was this one time someone had piled all their hair up on top of their head and it looked like a HUGE beehive! And it was all golden and blond and they put little bee hair clips to keep it up... but their hair was so tall it got snagged on a tree branch. It was funny!" The little red Kirin hadn't realized he'd gone off on a tangent.

Dee hadn't been sure what to say till he heard his sister speak. "My sister is right, I do want to open my own theatre when I grow up, and bring in lots of people to share my passion, movies and popcorn, soda all the yummy treats that are great to share while watching movies." Dee said with a grin, talking about movies was one of Three Dee's big passions. "I also do some day want to have a big family, once I figure out how to balance it with my work which to me comes first, which might be a little weird for an imp." Dee said with a shrug. Dee looked at his sister and thought about other traditions they had as a family, like giving each other little gifts for the winter celebration, but he wasn't sure if he wanted to bring it up and make Cotty angry with him. "That's all I can think of." he said as he sat down at his desk.

Zino rested his head on his hands, when it came his turn to answer the question he wasn't sure how he was going to answer. His sister Bina and him were basically raised alone, the only thing he knew about his species were things that he read in books, nothing too interesting or special. He thought long and hard about what he would say, he wanted to give his instructor a really good answer, but the fact was, he didn't know much about who he was, or where he came from. He sighed, and suddenly remembered something his sister had told him a while ago about goblins. Before he knew it his answer had popped into his head. When his turn came around he smiled at his teacher - "Something that makes goblins unique is that we don't share much of our culture with outsiders." He smiled, proud that he had come up with something to say.
