Lukas joining the fray had Gretchen looking back to see where the civilian went, but he'd tucked her into the relative safety of a clothing rack. It wasn't an amazing defense, but it would certainly do in a pinch. She was out of the way, out of sight, and if not quiet, at least not sobbing quite so loudly now. Now all(most) of their attention could go to bringing down the infected that was currently trying to eat them. It was no picnic, little bits and pieces were slipping off the thing with every hard hit, and the smell. The smell. It was awful. Gretchen yanked her scarf up over her face before sending the end of her staff straight into the zombies chest to knock it back a few feet. HP: 36 DMG: 8 CHG: 2/3 INfected HP: 30 Quote: Death Hunter: -1 from damage modifier. -6 is -5 Melee Weapon: Melee weapons are super effective against ARMORED type infected, do double damage on this type!

When the voice called All clear! Jordan stepped up, took a firm, two-handed grip on Ferros's handle, adjusted his stance and aim, and brought Ferros around in a short but powerful arc, slamming hard into the door. The door buckled, its hinges popping loose explosively; a second, carefully angled blow sent the damaged door skidding out of its frame entirely, off to the side. Jordan propped Ferros over his shoulder again and stepped aside slightly so that he wasn't blocking the door; making the civilians feel trapped wouldn't help anything.
"I'm afraid I can't tell you what organization we're with," he said to the bearded man, coolly holding eye contact. "I wasn't briefed that anyone in the building had the clearance level for that information. What I can tell you is that there's been an outbreak of a virus that alters tissue at the genetic level, causing extensive mutations and extreme aggression. We're here to contain the effects of the outbreak and escort any civilians caught in the area to the evacuation point. We'll need to get moving; I don't doubt that the noise we just made taking care of what was in the other bathroom and then getting this door open will attract more attention. This area is not safe."

Head tipping back, America closed her eyes at the additional heal, "Ahhh yeah, that's the ******** ticket hun. Gonna go crush skulls and..." Blinking up at Taym she grinned to see him there, and the moment was a brief oasis of pleasure at seeing him, then it was gone she bent her head into the collar of the coat before zipping it up, her chest a threatening swell it often was with his clothes. "Well, what can I say, angel? I gotta be me." The joke fell a little flat and she went quiet as she picked out and put on a pair of cargo pants. "Rep mentioned it's probably gonna get real shitty once it gets dark, so have a light ready. The one I fought spit acid pretty far, you should probably leave those ******** for the folks with bows and guns." Just in time, a glob of acid flew over the barricade and began eating away at a nearby tent. "Awww s**t..." despite her words, America hefted Stryker, his runes glowing with an unused charge, and started running in the direction it'd come from. Quote: HP - 40 AUTODMG - 10 - SPITTERS (and only spitters) do damage to those engaged in battle with them EVEN IF THEY ARE DEFENDING Keep out of the way of these guys and gals, they spit disgusting acidic juices at anyone who gets close to them.

For his own part Taym still had a good amount of layers, which was probably for the best given that America'd barely had time to warn him about the spitters before one of them had, naturally, singled them out. "Thanks a lot," he deadpanned, and even if no one else would she, at least, would probably recognize the tone for what it was: armor. He didn't ask, didn't invite: unhesitatingly he moved to get between her and the threat, although it must be said that a dagger was possibly not the best suited weapon for this particular foe. He came to the same conclusion as Lydia and began hissing curses in Korean under his breath. Jack made full use of his long legs and picked up the pace. "Tell them to move it," he barked at Lydia as he summoned his sword in his free hand. If the net-nest broke and green eyes were seen, he wanted to be ready. Finn had already been bitten previously, no need to get both assholes infected.

Preparing another rune she could only be grateful for her lack of height when acid flew over Lina's head to sizzle against canvas. Startled she exclaimed something in the language of her father's family before immediately backing away. Her strength was in healing not in fighting. She'd been going down to the training fields as it had been suggested on her first day but the results weren't promising. Dhakir was inside of her mind, whining even as it was whispering horrible things about Ms. Jones. No, she would wait here, and if needed would run out into the field after America and her unnamed angel.

Unlike Gretchen the woman wasn't bothered to be looked for, Cain simply glanced back as Lukas' weapon speed out to hit the zombie.. He didn't need sight reassurance, the sounds of her obnoxious crying was proof enough she was ok and really as long as Cain made it out of here alive to be perfectly honest he didn't care if she did nor either of his allies did. A faint grin pushed up freckled cheeks due to inner thought before violet eyes landed back on the foul smelling, dripping and clumsy bundle of zombie before them watching it get knocked back by Gretchen.
The smell bothered Cain, but not to the point of gagging more because he was trying to figure out what the hell it smelled like and ending up with nothing even remotely close to how heinous it smelt. Violet eyes caught a piece of skin that hit the floor with the woman's hit and he wanted it. Needed it. A lift of pole arm and Cain narrowed his eyes, taking a step forward and aiming low on purpose to try and use the serrated end of his weapon to lob the menaces leg off buying him just enough time to swoop down and vial the piece of flesh. Robert's bandage was thoughtful but he didn't have quite the care for his sis as he did for his wife which, really, was understandable. Cami still felt some of the pain in her ribs ease, giving her time to be grateful for the fact he wasn't tickling her. Tickling would have hurt in a way that she wasn't sure she could handle right now. Mimsy however, was incredibly effective, to only the surprise of Mimsy herself. Letting the runic bandage ease through her system she took a long, deep breath. In and out before even allowing herself to listen to what anyone had to say. Reaching out she lightly squeezed her sister's arm (as Mimsy's hands were occupied reaching for her husband) in reassurance. "You did great. I'll be able to get back to the tents now. Shouldn't have jumped from portal to portal like that." A part of her hoped there was a place to ditch her undergarments. Wet underwear was the worst. Working her way back towards the base camp she was there in time to see Taym put himself between America and a creature spitting acid. Beneath her breath she grumbled and tried to take aim but there was water on the floor. Thus it sent her shot veering towards one of the thing's legs, rather than the core she'd been aiming for. With Taym running interference and the startling but extremely welcome addition of Cami to the battle, America was able to get in close and hard without taking near as much damage as she had on her own. As the thing faltered in its footing, she was there, swinging the massive golden ball into its "face" area. HP: 24 (after 6 def) Dmg: 11 Mob HP: 24

Horace turned at Mikael's voice. The boy looked absolutely terrified. "Yeah, Mik, let's go back for now. We're here to clear out the place, but you are not allowed to wander off alone again." He gave Mikael a Look. It wasn't safe for anyone to wander off alone, clearly, and even less safe for Mikael to do it. With a huff, Horace slipped off his grime-covered coat and tied it aruond his waist. Next off was the sweater - it was a shame, that, he'd rather liked the muted arglye. The tank top underneath was at least mostly clean, a bright pink thing that read I NEVER LIKED YOU ANYWAY.
He patted his pack. He had a knife and other non-runic things in there, but Rep's announcement had him antsy. "Save your bandages, Noah, might need 'em later.. The charge though - I'm good for now, and I don't think Mik got hit much by the, uh... acid-thing. Probably you or Al needs it most. Use it up and the rest of us can patch back up. If we don't meet anything." He looked up at the ceiling, as if it would start raining zombabies or something equally gross. He started off, then paused and held out his hand for Mikael to take, wriggling his fingers. He really, really wished he had a toddler leash instead.
As he slinked back to the base, Horace realized something truly terrifying. His shoes squished. There was some sort of infected goop inside his shoes. He shuddered. By the grace of god or omniscient Rep, they made it back in one piece. He ducked inside the tent just in time to hear something splat just on the other side.
"Hey, uh, anybody free to patch up some shields?" If he just ignored it, the infected would go away right? (It wouldn't but he really doubted most of them were up for another fight just yet.)

Hearing the call for a healer Lina looked back at what was going on with the zombie. An archer had shown up and those odds seemed good. For now. "I'm here!" Grabbing another pack from a table she darted through the tent to the other side. What she saw there probably should not have sent a thrill running through her but it did. So many opportunities! So much to learn! First she focused on the man who'd called out for help in the first place. He didn't need as much help as America had and so she applied only one of the smaller runes. Better to conserve what she had in case a quick run onto the field was necessary. Of course she was also a little excited which might have had something to do with a hastier application. Oops. "Who needs it next?"

Jordan got a long critical look from the bearded man, suspicion written in every line of his face. "Right." he said, because he couldn't argue with the virus explanation. "I'm Buck, this is Linda and my son's Josh and if this is bullshit, I swear to God that I will get you ******** back. Lead the way." He went to help his wife, who had ceased crying and was gathering up shopping bags she had been carrying, in a state of shock.
The other man stepped forward, made to extend his hand in greeting and thought better of it. "David Smith." he said, "Glad you all came, the sooner we can get out of here the better. There were another group in the other bathroom.. but..." his eyes went distant. "The sounds were awful." He shook his head. "Let's get out of here."
The group will grudgingly follow where they are led. Be careful with getting into combat with them in tow.

Cami's sudden arrival was startling but more than welcome, the usefulness of her bow as heartening as she was herself: always, as far as Taym had known her, focused and capable and serious. There wasn't time for acknowledgement now, though, and Taym threw himself into a different strategy: needling the thing into shifting its focus to him, then taking advantage of his natural fleet-footedness to make sure that focus was in the direction that America wasn't. He moved constantly, fluidly, and in a word beautifully--for now at least--and if America's misgivings about the mission's possible affect on his mental health were warranted, she could at least take solace in the fact that he was currently compartmentalizing with aplomb. He wasn't even looking at her more than it took to get a read on where to be to take the heat off of her. HP: 60 DEF: 9 CHG: 2/3

Jordan met Buck's suspicious stare with his best impassive serious face. "I'd advise leaving the bags," he said to Linda, his tone gentling a little. "Nothing is to be taken out of the quarantine zone, and you'll have to leave them behind anyway. No sense hauling them along. You can apply for compensation after the situation has been seen to."
He nodded to David. "Don't look into the other bathroom when we leave," he said, and left it at that, turning toward the hallway. "Please stay together in the center of the group, so that we can protect you as we move." He was extra careful with Ferros, making sure not to bump any of the civilians; as he turned, he made brief eye contact with Ro, Shu, and Ace, hoping that they would go along with his claims.
