`Hydro Chibi Halo Celestine Ravencroft Chibi Halo I hope you guys don't mind that I'm expanding on Cel's description of the manor and adding a bit of a Downton Abbey air to the way the place use to be fifty some odd years back. I also hope you don't mind that I've made it so the mayor, back when Aylin got married, was the one who had owned the manor. I'm still going to wait to post but this lets me shore up things while others post.
Actually, I'm kinda glad you're doing that because it saves me time and trouble. I may add a thing or two later on, but feel free to go ahead with this. I just haven't had the time to really think over the little details about the manor. All I can really say it that I picture it being a very opulent place without being overbearing. The carpets need to be a light color rather than the typical royal blues or deep reds of past high society. All in all, it should be tastefully decorated without feeling like you just walking into snob central. Does that make sense? It's not much to go on, but hopefully it'll be of some help. It makes perfect sense. I'm more or less giving enough for a general feel for the place. I'm giving it two gazebos in the back gardens and a solarium along with the grand hall and a two story library. We can establish more detail about the interior as we get to each individual room but I can establish a general guideline for the look of things when I get them inside. emotion_drool I want that library. Actually that'll work well with my OC, she'll be majorly jealous of it. I honestly think every large abode like that should have some kind of library. With a place like that you get a couple of small parlors for tea and after dinner entertaining, a smoking room for the men to have cigars and brandy after dinner, a game room for billiards and cards, and a music room for hearing people play music. It's the kind of place if we do it right can be both elegant and cozy at the same time.

Okay I'm hijacking this response to Cel, and she can answer this too, to ask if we've established just exactly why Barton is important to the other Senshi. We know why it's important to Aylin, the history of seven generations of her late husband's family that she doesn't want to see die off. So why is it that the other Senshi are going to be protecting Barton Town? What's so important about Barton and what connection do they have to it as a group? The reason I'm asking is that while chatting with Hydro tonight I've come to realize we never really talked about it when making our Senshi and if we have I was probably absent from "class" that day. It would certainly help with the planning of things if we nailed that bit down and figured out what common thread they have.

My thinking is that the Manor has always been not only a safe haven, but also a place of learning and training in times long past. The Manor wasn't always called Barton Manor; it went by various other names, but it always brought together those who willingly would place their lives on the line to defend the helpless and innocent. There';s some sort of powerful force of good and justice that drives people to seek out the Manor. That is one reason it is so well protected. Besides, the senshi can get training assistance from the other members of BFAA. Caelen would be a really good one to use for combat training against dark energy. Cel can use elemental magic through her crystals, so she could help with that aspect. So much of the mystical and bizarre events on Gaia both past and present have revolved around Barton and it's territory. After all, remember back to the story I had written about the hidden monastery where the BFAA found the rite to summon Cae? It all goes back to ancient Gaia and the demons versus angels war that we recently dealt with over Halloween. This might be presuming too much about Barton's importance, but it gives us a starting point. The general Barton area is like command central for the forces of good. The senshi are just the next generation of soldiers that have been called to stand and fight. Might as well start from a stronghold.

Yeah but what would motivate a villain to want to attack the town and the Senshi? What's the Senshi's connection to Barton? Why did they come there in the first place? Is it because there's some kind of well of power under Barton Town that's always been there? That's what Hydro and I were completely blanking out on earlier tonight.

I PM'ed something I came up with Chibi. I'm trying think of something everyone can relate to a little, but is open-ended enough you all should be able to figure out a way for your characters to relate to it. I'm running the idea by Chibi first because I want to make sure the idea won't hijack the story too much. As much as I've taken on the task of our villain I don't want to limit anyone else because of it.

Chibi Halo Is it because there's some kind of well of power under Barton Town that's always been there? That's what Hydro and I were completely blanking out on earlier tonight. That's pretty much what I just tried to say. There is a major pocket of good power pulsing under Barton and its surrounding territory that has been there since the Angels versus Demons war began. Barton is a stronghold for good, so it naturally draws people there that have good powers. It just happens that a smaller pocket of negative energy has wormed it's way in, and that is why the vortex and a few evil henchmen have come there. They want the negative energy, and evil can't stand to let good win. Besides, Barton itself gives one a sense of belonging and kinship. It's about the people you meet and they way they make you feel like you've found a place you can really call home. If Lune hadn't felt those vibes from the moment she arrived in Barton, she would not have stayed. But as it is, she felt at peace there, even safe. On a side note, I was thinking about the Manor and how it was probably built over the dead center of the positive energy well. There are catacombs beneath the Manor that have long been forgotten. They hold the truth about Barton and it's very important role in Gaia. Maybe the scouts will run across the catacombs and find the vast store of knowledge that lies beneath and discover just why they were chosen as the next generation of guardians. I'm basing that on the premise that this has happened repeatedly over the centuries, new groups of warriors drawn to Barton to learn to fight and defend not just Barton, but all of Gaia in a bigger war.

Well the back story of the rp is that Gaia created the senshi long ago to protect the world from evil forces (namely Nyx). And while those ancient senshi were defeated, Gaia kept their souls alive and gave them new life in this current time period. So while Terra has no real connection to Barton aside from being a new student at a high school, while she has no strong feelings towards the place, there is something inside of her that draws her to Barton. The current senshi all have a little piece of their ancient counterparts, though most of them probably don't know it. For Terra this is the second time being reborn, and she has no memory of her past lives at all.

II kind of like that idea for the Manor. It would be another reason why it's protected like it is.
A lot of the main group of Senshi are reborn souls yes. However, for some it's an inherited power so in a sense it's the power and not the memories of being a Senshi that gets preserved. That's how it is for Aylin. Her ancestor literally poured her power into the broach and it was kept in the family for centuries and when the right descendent came along the broach would bestow its power upon him or her and it just so happened the one to be the successor to the Senshi power was Aylin. It kind of makes sense for it to be this way and works with how Aylin wasn't really worked into the Senshi group when you guys first made your Senshi.

For Terra this is the second time being reborn, and she has no memory of her past lives at all. Lunette is an odd exception to this concept since she was actually a star guardian sent to protect Gaia. Her power comes from her true identity. She was never created as a senshi, she just took on that role once her defensive star power awakened from the attacks. It's a lot like Aylin and her situation. Weirdest association I can make for Lune, but it is similar. Think of Ghost Rider 2 and how he was actually an angel that was corrupted and became the Devil's bounty hunter that we see in the two films. In the end the angel was released and Ghost Rider became an agent of justice again, not vengeance. Strange, I know, but it works.

So Cel I was going through beefing up a few things in my next post, that I'll put up once we get either Alice or Kags posting next, and while looking for a good way to describe the front of the manor I found an image of something that just might be close to what I think we both have in mind. It's a model of an English country manor done in the Tudor style but it has the right front gate and walls, the right type of courtyard with a fountain, the right kind of grounds in front, the right feel to the look of the house, and looks like it would fit in with the style of the houses we all have in Towns 2. The whole thing just feels right to me to be a good foundation to build on for the Barton Manor because it doesn't look too formal yet at the same time it's grand enough to be the kind of place people of money used to live in. Plus, it's castle-y enough to have been built sometime in the Gaian nineteenth century before Aylin was born.
So does this look like it would be a good candidate for our Barton Manor:

I hope you guys don't all mind but in my next post I'm kind of implying that aside from Calen there's usually always someone else at the manor and there's usually always some kind of constant happy sounds once you enter the place but for some reason the manor is unusually quiet that day. I want to establish how serious things are getting for Barton and Chef not being picked on by Alice or someone not getting teased while playing games in the game room is going to have Aylin on edge because the manor is going to be far too quiet for her liking and keep her mind on what's hovering outside its walls. And I'm going to warn you it's another long one because of the detail I'm putting into the manor's description in order to help Cel a bit.

:3 I think that's a splendid idea, and I really like that picture you found for the manor itself. I pictured something almost exactly like that. I don't mind you going ahead. You and Cel have put up some very good ideas for the manor.
