Ceres, somewhere down the table, just stared as someone suddenly left the table. She had a form with a piece of food on it originally destined to be eaten... but paused mid air.

"s**t."

At Glenda's proclamation, Jerry's face went an interesting shade of green, "Ah... y-yeah, casino... ah..." He withdrew from Lawr's personal space, clearing his throat, "Oh, ah, hi again! Sorry about that, ahahaha-"

Thankfully, the food had arrived. At least something good to eat would clear his head a bit better, and he immediately started chowing down. In the meantime, he glanced up at the ceiling and mused, "Last time I was at a casino, I fell from like a hundred and fifty storieth window."

Glenda eyed him thoughtfully, digging into her scallops.

"Oh, my. Well, for all o' that, you don't look half bad." She grinned raucously. "I can't promise anythin', but I'll try not t'shove yeh out no winders."

It didn’t take Matt long to look over the menu, squid ink? Not that his parents weren’t cultured or never took them once a year before the start of school on a fancy dinner but squid ink? The thought of it tasting like salty ink was not very appealing. Instead he would just look at the people who did order it and decide from there if it was something to try late in life.

The one he chose was the second set, with chicken stuffed full of ultimate goodness. There was also the promise of desert on the bottom of the menu list, he really really hoped that they were going to make it till then before something terrible again. A surprise would be if the doom was desert.

There was for a moment that Tori’s cheeks turned red, though he wasn’t sure what it was about. Kasi on the other hand made some comment about how she hoped soup would end up pouring on her head or even his if that meant they would leave. Again he ignored her not even returning some sort of snarky response to her and threatening to let her tarnish.

“You do? I would love ice cream. I mean I don’t usually eat lots of sweets but I haven’t really had cake or even ice cream since I’ve gotten here.” Matt replied thinking about sitting on a bench looking out at the ocean with his sister laughing next to him as the ice cream would dribble down on his fingers.

“Oh good. I mean not that I have a problem not eating something people are allergic to just… well you get it.” He started to laugh at his own grace of trying to excuse his somewhat appearance of making it seem he hated people with allergies.

“I think I am going to go with menu set 2… only because I have no idea what squid ink taste like and if it is anything like my mind is making it in my head its awful. Buuuttt” He replied setting it down and giving a bit of a smile. “I would like to possibly try it some other time just to see if I do like it or not. I am not against trying new food… just not as my dinner right away.”

When she asked about what he did for fun he sort of just paused as the gears in his head reminded him that it was probably things outside of being a doctor.

“Weeell… I can sew. I use to sew things around the house not that I’ve done much of that recently. I also used to read. I have this one book I keep re-reading because I don’t have a whole lot with me. “ He paused as the waiters came bringing out the dishes of food already. He nodded politely to the waiter who brought him his plate and another as one filled up his water.

“Oh swimming. I love to swim. I used to go all the time to the beach when I could, not like a serious gymnast swimmer but more of floating in it,” He replied giving a little chuckle, “What about you?”

"Oh it's no problem at all pardner." Lawr said amicably, despite the fact it sort of was.

Glenda's knickers were probably her own business, it didn't do to ask questions about a lady's unmentionables at the dinner table. Especially when quite so much seafood was being served.

He tucked into his own meal eagerly, his appetite surprisingly active even despite the dog in his thoughts making everything feel terrible and wrong.

"...you did? How exactly did you survive?"

"What are you eating?"

Ian leaned over and promptly stuck his fork in Quinn's food, bringing it to his mouth and chewing thoughtfully. "Could use more salt," he said cheerfully, after a minute, and winked playfully. "Or maybe some ketchup."

It wasn't entirely clear whether he was actually serious or not, Ian now leaning over to peer curiously at Dorian's food.

"So what's the deal with that girl whose number you just got?" he asked, taking a bite of the beef. "You into her, or something?"

Clearly Ian wasn't a mincer of words. He nudged Dorian's side and gave him a conspiratorial wink and a teasing grin before reaching for his glass of wine and taking a delicate sip, smiling against the wineglass.

"So," he said lightly, reclining back in his chair.. "Anyone else feel like this is all going a little too well? We had a murder, and yet we're all sitting here eating filet mignon and sipping a glass of '42 Chardonnay?"

A look was passed to Marcus and Cass. "This sorta thing normal here?"

"Technically I didn't," He helped himself to some steak, gesturing with his fork as a voice that sounded like Roar's in the back of his head reminded him there could be civilians around and he tried to figure out how to mentally edit the story, "But it wasn't real anyway, really or I'd have some even worse scars ahahahaha, but yeah dying isn't really pleasant, try to avoid it, ahahaha."

"Elementary, my dear Watson," said Gale, almost automatically, and smiled at Stormy, lifting his class of Merlot and taking a small sip. He had no intention of drinking anywhere near enough to get drunk, but a small glass with an elegant dinner was something to be expected.

He'd stick mostly with water, though. Gale leaned closer to Stormy, dropping his voice to a lower, more conspiratorial whisper as though he really were becoming Sherlock Holmes.

"Poisoning seems the least messy route," he said, and then gave a small sigh, some of the teasing tone leaving his voice. "And the night is going far too well for it to stay that way, which means karma's about to come back and kick us in the arse," he mumbled, absently rubbing a thumb along the stem of his wineglass.

Sasha merely lifted a brow when the old woman started crowing about things that were hardly fit for the dinner table.

"I suppose you're right." She briefly fussed with her food before lifting a hand to gently rub against the back of Wash's neck, the touch somehow soothing to her.

Ryan grinned, mouthing back 'touche.' It was Dakota. That was explanation enough for him.

Reaching for his glass of water, Ryan had just started to drink, when Kat poked fun at him. Which of course, caused him to choke on the water. "Wha--but we--wha?" It was the most he could manage after catching a breath of air.

Mister Collins was a man of many talents.

"You's like that feller in that one film then, yeah? Unbrassable, sommat like that. Bruce Willy." Glenda chewed thoughtfully.

"Could really go for some taters," she added wistfully.

"They made a movie about your town?" Evan asked. "That sounds pretty exciting."

He chuckled and nodded as she unknowingly summed up a good portion of his childhood. "My dad's side of the family's been in the Corps for generations now. I'm the last, I guess, unless my sister joins." He frowned in bemusement as Gnat recounted her dad's reaction to her brother's enlistment. "Why? There's no shame in joining the military, even if he did go Army. Well, no, I guess that part is a little shameful...did you ever consider enlisting with him?"

The food arrived then, and Evan took a moment to marvel at the beautifully prepared dishes of food he didn't have to cook himself with whatever ingredients he could find in the depths of the fridge.

Wash glanced at Jerry - he was hopefully too drunk to notice - before slipping an arm around Sasha's waist, scooting his chair a little closer.

"I intend to show you jus' how grateful I am later," he murmured. More loudly, he added, "So, on a list o' top ten vacation locations, where would a cruise rank for you, little lady?"

He still had some money left over - if she ever got her leave back.

The lights flickered and the music stopped for a second.

It wasn't too bad, there was still food, there was still great ambiance, music, it was still beautiful.

Everything shook and one of the snow sculptures crashed onto the ground, breaking into millions of tiny pieces of ice. Several guests looked towards that direction in shock-

- There was a terrible screeching noise, what felt like the bottom of the ship scraping against something - loudly - followed by a series of loud thunks -

- The lights went off, emergency lights immediately powered on only at ground level, providing dim outlines of everything-

- And then all hell broke loose.

The floor began to tilt, a little unnoticeable at first, before suddenly lurching downwards all at once as if for a ludicrous second all of it was sinking -

- But there was no water, not yet. Instead it continued to shift sideways, twenty, thirty, fourty-five degrees now-

- As tables began loudly skidding to the far end towards the locked doors, as people started screaming as they collided with tables, chairs, flashes of people's faces scrambling in panic, clawing at the carpet, at anything fastened onto the ground.

A chandelier groaned and then crashed, slamming against the main table, pulling people into a glassy cobweb before rolling, skidding downwards, gaining momentum -

- It was too late to ponder their fate though as the lights began flickering again, everything turning colder, greyer, everything turning black. It was dark. The emergency lights were gone.

CRASH.

And then something stared back at them.

Flashes of light. Still chaos. People screaming, Hunters, some drawing their weapons. Others pulling on emergency lights, throwing flares below to catch glimpses of the colossal creature, glimpses of people screaming as they were pulled down, as not tentacles but spines, spines upon spines upon spines reached forwards, reached upwards and trust forward and impaled and-

- It at least would be a mostly quick death, and for those unfortunately, the gnashing teeth below ensured their demise.

Someone was moving. A Hunter, but it was hard in the limited light to tell who. There was a burst of white light, and then a blast of what sounded like bullets, more Hunters were shouting to get in formation to hold the creature off. Even throughout the chaos it was notable several Division leaders were missing, not just the Death lead, though the ones who remained seemed to be gathering everyone together as best as they could.

The ship tilted again, but in their favour, now just a steep incline.

"Thirty seconds!" Allan was shouting, he sliced another spiny limb clean in half. "Hold off for thirty seconds and then get ready. Ship's hit a tear."

He didn't have time to explain what that meant as more spines, more limbs split off from where it had been cleaved, four now instead of just one. They branched all directions.

OOC: WELCOME TO THE BOSS FIGHT PART 1

VERSUS SCYLLA:

- Scylla is a sensitive Titan of an Insanity Monster ( once a lovely, normal monster, we're sure) who roams these waters. Whether her appearance is coincidental or a signal for something else coming up, it is hard to tell, but now it makes sense as to why this was a full hands-on operation. It will take everyone (still here) to bring her down.

SCYLLA'S HP: 300/300
HUNTERS CAN ATTACK UNLIMITED TIMES UNTIL THEY ARE OUT OF HP. Consider how much you WANT to attack as this is only part one of the boss fight
- exclaim AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR POST IN OOC PLEASE TALLY UP, BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE EVEN EDIT YOUR POST FOR RP (so the next player knows what to do) THE TOTAL HP REMAINING OF THE BOSS, including your rolled attack exclaim

- All battle attacks commence as normal. Scylla does 5 auto damage to all players whenever they attack it. Use regular battle dice.
- Don't forget to post in OOC the total damage of the boss and your damage done. If healing or defending, quote your target.
- Runic items can be used, same rules apply, same for artifacts.
- The goal is to BLUDGEON Scylla, not cleave it. If your attack does more than 10 damage, you will end up cleaving a part of her. Instead of subtracting HP damage, add +10 hp onto her HP value, for the final boss damage. So if you do 12 damage, and Scylla had 300 HP, she now has 310 HP without any damage done to her. Two more limbs will grow in the place of that severed limb.

STUN: - Scylla also has a stun effect. If you get too close to the needles, she will stun you. If you take more than 20 damage total, you will feel the paralysis seeping in. Now, for each attack you do, if your damage total is odd, you cannot move and your attack does nothing.

DIVISION BONUSES:
- Life: Roll 2d12 to heal yourself any time in the duration of the battle
- Death: Scylla only does 3 auto damage to you per round
- Sun: If you do more than 10 damage, you can focus your skills a little better, being more mastered in weapons and bludgeon her instead. Any attacks you do 10+ damage or higher will only be considered for 10 damage.
- Moon: Select one character. You can cure them of stun for the entire duration. You can only do this once.
- Mist: Select an ability above. Roll a 6-sided dice and you can mimic the ability if even. If you are a FULL MIST HUNTER just choose any of the ones above.

BATTLE EXPERIENCE:
- ALL TRAINEES TAKE POISON DAMAGE. Instead of rolling 2d8-6, roll 2d8-8.
- All Intermediate and full Hunter are immune to poison damage.

Gnat started to reply - and grinned sheepishly as she heard Peyton's query from across the table. "I uh. We got - lost, yeah." She glanced at Evan. "Lookin' for the powder room."

Then she giggled unabashedly.

"Dad never really understood -" she began to add, and then the food appeared. She could feel her mouth watering. "Never understood about the like, well. The things we saw, yennow."

She didn't know how much she was allowed to share, so she turned the subject back to herself. "I always had an easier time pretendin'; it wasn't as silly for a girl t'be afraid of the dark. Was always some kinna logical explanation. An' I never really thought about joinin' up," she made a face, "seemed like a whole lotta work."

She had, but in the end, she didn't think Tuck would let her.
