 Lucian looked down at Max "Can you check that? Also if he were there?" He thought to him. He then looked back up and pretended to think.

 Max began sniffing around the area again, this time much closer to the detective. "His scent is all over the place. He's been investigating the area for sure, but I can't tell how long he's been here."

Max began sniffing around the room again before stopping. He made sure not to look at Lucien as he spoke to him mentally, not wanting to let on that they were communicating. "Interesting. The maid's scent does enter this room so she wasn't telling the truth about coming in here, but it doesn't come anywhere near where the Sapphires were held."

Lucian looked at the maid. He took a moment and then spoke "Just one more question, sorry to bother you Ma'am. Was anyone with you or around you when you came back in?" He asked.

Lucian was puzzled, who could it have been? He looked around and then avoided looking at Max "Can you check that the guard was where he said he was?" He thought to him.

Max put his nose to the ground and walked around in a circle several times before walking up to the guard, then he walked away again, seemingly following a route. He walked off into the building and came back a few minutes later. "The guards scent is all over the building, which makes sense. It's strongest on the patrol route he took over and over. The patrol route passes by the Sapphire several times. Though that makes sense since it was an important object to guard. But he was definitely by it."

Lucian nodded slowly. He looked zas if he was assessing the situation. He was lost, he wasn't exactly detective type, he was just a kid. "So that means it was either the guard or the detective, what are your thoughts on this?" He thought to Max

Lucian was struck my Max's response "But didn't you say she wasn't near the sapphires? What else could there be?" He thought to him. He looked at the people there in front of him "Is there anything else you know? Anything you may be hiding from us?" He said, gazing into the maids eyes.

 Max scratched himself with his hind leg. "She didn't go up to the Sapphires themselves. Not personally. But she was definitely in the room at some point that night." The maid poked her fingers together nervously as she looked away from Lucien's gaze. "Well, I said I thought I heard something. And, maybe, well, I started trying to follow it a bit. And it led me into this room. I-I didn't touch the Sapphires I swear! But I heard the sound of footsteps or something and then shattering glass. And I came into this room, just a little bit and saw that the Sapphires were gone. And then I just...ran away," she said, tears filling her eyes. "I didn't take them! I really didn't!"
