Merrick blinked as Constance spoke, his ears twitching. He exhaled in relief as she seemed to be surprised, but thankfully not going 'fangirl' on him; he remembered when he'd first found out about this little trick. He had shifted into a deep goldenfox kit with red highlights, only to have a nun that had been lurking nearby to grab him up and cuddle him, which had felt both pleasant and extremely strange at the same time. He concentrated as the aura reformed before he reverted to his human form, his six tails still visible and gently swaying behind him. "I still remember the first time I did that... it was disorienting to have a giant nun cuddle you when the woman had helped raise me," he said sheepishly as he picked up the plate with the slice of cake on it.

Constance chuckled as she picked up her plate and sat back down on the bed. "I am sure it felt weird." She took a bite of the cake and closed her eyes, sighing. It turned out better than she had hope. "Hmm, turned out pretty good," She said as she opened her eyes and smiled at Merrick. Truth be told she had wanted to pick him up and hold him, but she felt that might be a little weird. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable. She could already feel the tension between the two of them. She knew she wanted to act on the feelings she had for him, and she was thinking he might want to as well, but she didn't want to push it.

Merrick tilted his head as he took a bite of the cake, a low purring growl escaping him. He swallowed before he spoke. "Damn, that's good," he said with a roguish half smile. The frosting added a hint of sweetness and nuttiness to it beneath the flavors of the berries in the cake itself. He blinked as he recalled another place that made the meadowcream frosting and some of the more varied cordials he knew how to make.

Constance chuckled as she looked over at Merrick. "Well I am glad that you like it." She took another bite, savoring the sweetness that it had. It didn't take her long to finish her piece of cake and she set her plate aside. "Think the rest of that cake should be shared with everyone else." She smiled as she pushed her hair from her face. "Do you want another piece before I send it off to everyone else?"

Merrick shrugged slightly as he took another bite of cake, enjoying it. "I'm good for now," he said after a moment, the roguish half smile barely wavering as he spoke. Outwardly, he gave little sign that he was thinking hard. I only know of one place that makes or sells meadowcream frosting of this kind, though few know how to get there, he thought. He knew there was a gateway to there not too far away, roughly two blocks west of where they were at that moment.

"Okay then," Constance said with a nod as she gave a small wave of her hand. As she did a piece of cake showed up in everyone's room on the dressers. She left two pieces, however, in her room for her and Merrick to have later. "For later," she said with a smile. She stood up and went to the dresser, pulling something out. As she came back over to sit next to Merrick she held out the necklace he had placed on her earlier. "Thank you, for putting this on me when I needed it. I don't think I could have held the portal open that long without it."

Merrick cocked an eyebrow as Constance spoke. "I simply put excess energy to use; besides, I've always been energetic. Managing to store the excess energy for necessary uses can save lives, after all," he said with an amused edge to his voice. He sighed after a moment, thinking as he finished off the piece of cake. "You know, the frosting they used on the cake is actually rare unless you know how to make it. As far as I know, there are those who can make it, but to learn to make it, you have to know where they live or be extremely lucky," he said thoughtfully. He knew how to make the frosting, of course, though he didn't know who else knew. He blinked as he realized something he hadn't expected before, unaware a grin grew on his face. I knew I'd noticed something off... Cellarhog Hobbs.... you crafty old son, he thought.

Kaosujin Ryu sorry its short...leaving for work now Constance smiled a little as she let the necklace rest in her lap. She noticed that he didn't move to take it back. When he mentioned the frosting, her head tilted to the side slightly. "Really? As far as I know they have always used that frosting here." She sat comfortably next to him, enjoying his company.

Kasumi sighed as she dunked her head beneath the water, exhaling as she picked up the shampoo. "Kami, it's been a long time since I felt... clean," she murmured. Merrick chuckled before he spoke quietly. "If who I think is here, then he's an old friend of mine. I actually ran into him several years ago, but he's definitely memorable; Kaen Hobbs, he's likely known as... if I'm right, he should be in the kitchens now... from what I smelled when I got the desserts," he said with an amused edge to his voice. He tilted his head thoughtfully. He had noticed a large barrel bellied chef who had glanced his way. Unconsciously he had activated his unique ocular talent and had noticed that the chef had actually had an illusion woven around him to hide his true form.

Constance smiled over at Merrick. "Well do you want to go say hello to your friend?" She stood up and put the necklace back on her dresser. She wasn't one who normally wore jewelry, but it was a beautiful piece. She turned back around to look at him. "We can take our dirty dishes down as well." ------ Merida whistled softly to herself as she made her way down to the kitchen. She was starving at the moment. When she entered she grinned. "Ah Mariamma! Good to see you again." Mariamma chuckled as she turned to face Merida. "And you as well Merida. I was wondering when you would be here again. I have already seen Constance and the young man."

Merrick nodded. "It would be nice to see Ol' Hobbs again," he said with amusement, not telling her that the one in question wasn't human, but something more... unique; there was no question in those who knew the man, however, that questioned either his culinary skill or loyalty. He tilted his head thoughtfully. "I think he'll be surprised, especially knowing that I'm... well, unusual... much like he is," he said quietly. Kaen Hobbs cocked his head as he walked around the corner, tilting his head as he saw Mariamma and a young woman. "This must be the young woman you always gush about... Merida, am I right?" he said jovially with a half smile, showing slightly lengthened incisors though it wasn't noticeable unless you knew what you were looking for. He had shaggy dark brown hair and deeply tanned skin.

"Well let's go," Constance said as she walked to the door and held it open for him. She needed to move around a little. Being cooled up in this room with Merrick was taking her thoughts to places it had never been before. ------ Mariamma smiled and nodded. "Merida this is Hobbs, Hobbs this is Merida, leader of the Dark Coven." "A pleasure Mr. Hobbs," Merida said with a smile. She had noticed his teeth were a bit longer than normal, but she didn't say anything. "If I had known there was somebody here I didn't know I wouldn't be dressed so casually. I must look terrible."

Merrick smiled slightly, amused. "Seems you want to restrain yourself just as I do," he said a teasing tone, knowing full well she knew exactly what he was referring to as he stood fluidly and walked towards the door and Constance. "How about I show you a little trick?" he said teasingly. Kaen Hobbs smiled slightly. "I'm little more than a humble chef," he chuckled cheerfully.

Constance shrugged a little. "So maybe I do want to restrain myself a little. I like you a lot. I don't want to scare you off." She raised an eyebrow as Merrick made his way to her, speaking in a teasing manner. "Show me what?" She asked curiously. Her hand held tightly to the doorknob as she kept her eyes on him. Constance loved the way he moved and the sound of his voice. ------ Merida grinned at him. "Even a humble chef deserves a proper greeting." She turned when Mariamma approached her with a cup of tea. "Ah, thank you, Mariamma. You really are a treasure."

Kasumi exhaled as she leaned back in the water, a couple of her nine tails surfacing momentarily. She knew she could stay in the bath as long as she pleased and it wouldn't grow cold due to her... unique tricks. She was one of the rare types of witches that could manipulate the elements at will, though she was strongest in pyrokinesis and aerokinesis a.k.a fire creation/manipulation and wind creation/manipulation. She cocked her head, her fox ears twitching as she heard the ding of the elevator and Merrick's voice. She tilted her head as the water began draining before she stood fluidly, a faint smile flickering over her face as she lightly tugged the curtain around so to rinse off the suds from her body. Merrick nodded slightly, not surprised. "It's a trick I found by accident; in fact, it was how I appeared so quickly in the kitchens earlier... it's a form of high speed movement, I think," he said sheepishly with a slight shrug. He took another step, knowing he was several more steps from Constance, when he apparently vanished from sight. A ding followed from the elevator as Merrick spoke again, this time from half a dozen feet down the hall and outside the room. "I'm still trying to get the hang of it, so I'd rather not try doing it with a passenger... might hurt the beautiful package," he said with amusement. Kaen Hobbs smiled faintly. "She's as 'umble as ya said, Mariamma," he said with amusement. His voice was deep and slightly gravelly.
