[ Artaxiad : ??? : ??? ]

"...And a new dawn of true light shall descend upon all lands, welcomed by the surcease of false hopes and ridiculous ambitions. All shall be-"

"Artaxiad..."

"Your Majesty!" the armored man exclaimed, dropping the scroll from which he had been reading and glancing around excitedly. He saw no sign of the one who had called him, even though his eyes could pierce the near-complete darkness of this unknown chamber. He should have expected as much, for the voice reached his mind, and not his ears. "My lord? You stir!"

"Only my mind, Artaxiad... I am yet too frail for all else."

"Yet you have awakened!" the servant persisted, dropping to his knees.

"So I have... Tell me, where are the others?"

"The others? My lord, there are no others. They all fled or took their own worthless lives many a year ago. They were never truly loyal to you, Your Majesty."

"I see... So it stands, then, and so it shall be. You must go out to the lands of the FILTH and find those we may use. You have proven yourself the only living creature worthy of serving me; however, we shall need use of other, lower beings, in the future."

"I shall, my lord... Yet I still do not know how you came to awaken."

"I shall attempt to find the answer myself... But only after I slumber again. I must regain my strength. Now go, loyal one. I expect nothing but worthy results."

Artaxiad felt the presence of his master's consciousness fade as the faceless being fell back into the deep sleep from whence he had come, and nodded slowly. "You shall receive perfection, Your Majesty," he whispered, before reaching to his right, where a pedestal suddenly appeared. Upon it rest a small vial filled with a violet-colored powder. He sprinkled some of the powder onto his armor, and disappeared without a sound.

Walking through the tunnel for the first time was so easy with Haelo's light to guide me and Felin by my side. But the bridge... I took a few steps, the sound of my footsteps on the wooden planks of the bridge echoing through the grove of the woods as if trying to signal for monsters to find us. None came... nothing approached. There was nothing but the chirping of crickets in the dead of night, and the wild faeries dancing around in the air as they always do. The next tunnel was ahead of us, a tiny speck of light in the center, promising the unknown. But here and now was the bridge, and the woods, and the silence, and the echoes. The entire moment was some odd sort of magical... what my Hylian friend likes to call 'beautifully depressing'. It sent chills down my spine, and made me want to cry. For a moment, I almost did. But then I caught myself, and remembered what I was doing; where I was, where I was going, the mission we were on... I braced myself against the dark, against the chilly Autumn night, against the unknown dangers that awaited us Outside and the unknown feelings deep within the unexplored regions of my heart.... and ran.

The stomping sounds against the wood echoed louder than ever through the trees, before the darkness of the tunnel consumed me, taking away the familiarity of the forest and bringing me into a narrow path. I passed it and found...

A wide, green field, the boundaries of which I could only ponder at, which was lightened by the full Moon above. The wind sang, the trees danced, and in the distance I could hear the howl of a legendary beast I thought had never existed. My world had shattered around me, to make room for one I could never fathom.

[ ??? : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

"Well, what a sight this is!" called a voice from up above. If the two Kokiri and their faeries were to gaze skyward, they would see a light brown owl swooping down to meet them. He touched down gently on the peak of the hill they were facing, and folded his left wing over his beaked face. It wasn't a very large owl, at least you might have seen bigger; but by all telling, he was almost as tall as the Kokiri themselves. "Forest children, leaving the forest, hm? Now this, I haven't seen in all my days, hoo hoo! Tell me, what brings the two of you out to enjoy this fine day in Hyrule Field, hm?"

[ Felin : Hyrule Field

Felin was startled as soon as someone spoke up that was neither her or Izzy, or their fairies for that matter. Locating the source as best she could in the dim light of the full moon revealed the silhouette of something big, bigger than her even! It looked like some kind of bird-no wait, an owl. An owl that could speak? What other wonders awaited the two Kokiri on their quest?

"Um, we're just kinda passing through to the castle." she looked at the owl, his brightly lit eyes staring down at her as if it was expecting a better answer. Maybe she should provide more info. "You see, the Deku Tree sent us." was all she could muster.

Her gaze then averted to the field; a wide expanse of seemingly nothing but a flat prairie. She caught sight of what looked like a lit window, but squinting harder, couldn't make out what it was from the large rock wall surrounding the field. She shook her head before looking out at the rest of what the field offered, spotting two lights off in the distance, some distance off the ground and apart from each other. Was that their destination?

"Hoo-hoo! The Castle, eh? That reminds me of a story I heard a long time ago... Tell me, does this journey of yours have anything to do with the strange monsters roaming around recently?"

[ Izzy : Hyrule Field : Southwest ]

"Yes, sir,"
Izzy replied hesitantly. "But we're heading to Keuredet to seek assistance from a friend of mine first. I'm Izzy, and this is my friend Felin. What is your name, may I ask?"

[ The Owl : Hyrule Field : Southwest ]

"Oh, well, I have many names. My actual name is... Well, that would be a story in itself, now, wouldn't it? Hoo hoo! I actually haven't been asked that question in quite some time, so you see, I find it difficult to give an answer. For the sake of ease, I suppose, you both may call me Owl."

[ Felin : Hyrule Field ]

"Um, alright then..." Felin uttered, scratching the back of her head. First it was Voltblade, and now this Owl. Jeez, was Hyrule full of wack-jobs suffering from a mild dose of amnesia? She'd never know, but that was the impression it was certainly leaving. Owl, as he apparently wanted to be called, kept staring down at the Kokiri from his perch, the light of the moon illuminating his features slightly and giving him an almost menacing or wicked appearance since he still held that one wing in front of his face. But this was just caused by moonlight, so there should be no reason for her to be afraid. At least until he startled her by doing a large, sudden action.

Felin glanced around the field once more. Slightly to the south, she could see a slight silhouette of what looked relatively comparable to their forestry houses. Some lights were also still on, and from experience, they must have something similar to the fireflies they use as lanterns. Felin was intrigued that she hadn't spotted this sight before. Turning her head to the right yielded what she saw earlier; some lights in the middle of the field, and further still were the two large lights seemingly attached to a high wall. "So...which way's Keuredet?"

[ The Owl : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

"Ah, the Hylian village of Keuredet!" the mysterious owl said. "I've soared over that settlement many times. I must say, it has grown since the days when those few brave souls departed Kakariko to build homes for themselves. Oh, but pardon me. Keuredet Village is just a short walk Southward from where we... ahem... stand. The castle, as you two may have noticed, is directly opposite, across Hyrule Field, to the North."

[ Izzy : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

"Um... Owl, sir... If you don't mind... Could you tell us if you know anything about these events? The monsters, I mean. We've even met someone who had been turned into a monster. If you really have flown around Hyrule, maybe you've learned more about all this than we have.... We just don't understand it."
The Kokiri boy shifted his weight to his right leg and let the other swing slowly back and for for a moment, before adding "Um... Please."

[ The Owl : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

"Hoo hoo! Well, all I've learned about the monsters' emergence is that they've been waiting for the balance of good and evil to be shifted more to the latter side. There has been peace in our land of Hyrule for decades... But hoo, what darkness could be rising up to draw them from the darkest corners of the land? Could it be the evil thoughts in the minds of the people of the world? There must be more of those thoughts than usual, hoo! But of course, that's just what I think."

The Owl suddenly paused and glanced back and forth between the two. "Now, as for people being turned into monsters themselves! Hoo! I have only heard of one... person, and I use that term lightly, hoo! One person able or willing to do such a thing. However, he has been gone quite a while, hoo! The one who was a monster... Since you freed him from his monstrous state, he must have been one of the Blade family! There were several of these men and women who rose up to... Hoo! Well! That IS a long story! Needless to say, someone didn't like them very much, hoo! And changed them into large, horrid creatures. Such a pity... They were such kind Hylians, regardless of their unmatched battle prowess. If you find any others, and do for them what you did for the first, they are sure to help you on your journey. Well, that is all I can say for now. Would you like to hear that again? Hoo hoo! Only kidding! Now, I must leave, children. But don't worry, I shall be watching out for you two. Too hoo hoot!" After his hooting laugh, he removed his wing from his face and began flapping them both vigorously, gaining air quickly and flying off into the night.

[ Izzy : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

Izzy looked up, his eyes following the rise of the great bird as it flapped its huge wings. "Thank you!" he shouted as the owl took off into the distance. He then stared at the moon, the rising position of which told him that it wasn't quite midnight yet. They had quite enough time to reach Keuredet before dawn... Which was probably for the best, since he was sure that the majority of the village-dwellers had never seen forest folk before. It would be for the best if they could avoid any unnecessary surprises. He finally turned to his friend with an uneasy smile.

"Well, Felin, we definitely know where we're going... sort of. Are you ready?"

[ Felin : Hyrule Field ]

Felin was paying so much attention to the owl's departure that she almost missed Izzy's question. "Huh? Oh, yeah! But," she paused, slightly unsure. "which way is it?"

A rustling in her cap was felt upon her scalp before her fairy companion emerged, his red light returned. "I would wager it's to the south, since Lon Lon Ranch is in the middle there."

"Akin! You're okay!" Felin was ecstatic; seeing her fairy flit about after being fried when they were battling Voltblade in the mine made her happy, especially knowing he was okay, just like he said before passing out.

"I told you I was fine. Now let's hurry, we don't want to dawdle!" the fairy then made for Keuredet, the few lights from some houses visible against the moonlit horizon.

Felin ran after her fairy, but skidded, twisting around to see Izzy. She waved a hand for him to catch up. "Come on Iz! We don't want to keep the Giant waiting!"

[ Izzy : Hyrule Field : Southeast ]

"Certainly not,"
Izzy said with a laugh as he ran to catch up with his traveling companion. Even though dawn's light was steadily approaching, he knew that his very tall friend would still be asleep. Now that he thought about it, he had no idea what the village of Keuredet even looked like. All he knew was that the boy lived in a bakery. "Well, I guess we're just going to have to follow our noses," he thought aloud, beginning to laugh again. He would have to explain that random statement to Felin once they arrived.

It wouldn't be long now; he could see a small forest near the village. It wasn't anywhere near as thick as the Lost Woods, but the trees looked nice; there was even one he could faintly make out, which he didn't recognize. This new land was already surprising him! He continued toward the village and passed by the forest without entering or drawing closer. Maybe another time...

[ Luke : Keuredet : Bakery, Second Floor ]

"BOINNG! BOINNG! The current time is: 05:37"

"That damn laugh..." Luke thought aloud after snapping out of his sleep with a sudden intake of breath, disturbed as always by the giggle of the one-eyed stones scattered across the land. "Who keeps hitting that Gossip Stone so early in the morning?!" Without another word, he flipped his pillow over to its cooler side and rolled over to lay on his own side. It was almost dawn when the Kokiri reached Keuredet Village, and the sun would be rising in an hour or two, but Luke, blissfully unaware of this and everything else in the world, soon fell back into a deep sleep.
