I'm seriously wondering how viable it would be to get multiple copies of sorc boots, considering there is no other item with magic pen that lets you stack.
the cheapest way to get 60 mpen would thus be 3 sorcs, but honestly that is silly. your better off wasting 200 more and getting 2 sorcs with haunting guise.
another discovery: dont trust the goddamn abysal scepter. It's range is too small for some moves, making its purchase very iffy. the fact they are de-buffed rather than you being buffed is another thing.
one more thing. void staff only helps when you've got an opponent with high magic resist. in which case if you dont already have 40 mpen your doing something wrong.if you've been runed up you should be at either 50 or 55 mpen, get the mpen mastery and thats 15% of the voidstaff not necissary. the biggest issue with void staff is that it goes on AFTER, not first.
this means that instead of 100 mR becoming 60 from a void staff and then 20 from guise and boots; you get 100 mR that drops to 60 from guise and boots, and then loses another 23, about. Bringing it to 37 rather than 20.
this effect becomes devastating when, as usual, no one has any mR.
With 50 mR instead of a nice -10, you get +6. that difference of 16 (in both cases) means the void staff is, most of the time failing your expectations by 75% (compared to another pair of sorc boots)
Finally, the fact that out of the four mpen items in the game, only two of them guarentee a flat decrease, makes it ver hard to power up. finally, the boots are the Only item that has a non, unique passive, so as a sheer monetary advantage 2 boots anad guise gets you 60 mR at a much cheaper price.
fortunately, the offense tree's mpen
g;e comes first.
so in one case i spend 2.4k to have someone's mr drop from 50 to 6. In the other case, i spend nothing extra to have it drop to 7
so the choice is yours XD. as long as you have 40 mpen, taking the mastery is better than ever touching a voidstaff.
besides, dont you want to start whoreing AP. oh, and just to let you know.
1.6 gives you 80 ap, so pure ap costs 20 gold per point. thus the 25 ap on haunting guise costs about 500 gold, which means 950 of the item's cost is health and mpen.
