They were at the fork again.

He hadn't had any volunteers to carry him. He looked at the extremely straight, extremely flat Candy Cane Lane again, then at his companions. Now that he knew it was filled with CERTAIN DEATH...it was still the shortest path.

"Maybe we could try sneaking this time? Just along the outside of the path. Inconspicuously."

"Only if you want to die." Jam's ears had twitched at the question, she was still amazed she'd caught up, but at least she had. She'd take her time figuring out which way to go though. Her tail flickered.

"He's probably standing there waiting for us to come back so he can blink and kill us all again." Her arms crossed as she looked around the fork, trying to figure out which way was going to be better.

"That's where the sneaking bit would come in."

He was a ninja, right? Ninjas were good at sneaking around, not catching other people who were sneaking around. With any luck, they'd just sneak right past each other. Barth was sure he wouldn't be just...hovering around the mouth of the path. Waiting.

...Or had he said something about waiting? Barth couldn't remember through the since-amended fog of bloodloss.

Before Belladonna could say anything more about Alwine's card (She wasn't going to say much except for make a very poor guess as to who it was for, then tell the ghost ghoul that she should send cards to whoever she wanted and not be sorry. Honestly, if she was sending a card to the ninja, then she was completely and totally allowed. It wasn't as if they were The Card Police who could say who others sent cards to!), Raziel suddenly darted down the path that would lead through the mountains.
And then Bartholomew spoke.
And said something, dreadfully, dreadfully, dreadfully silly.

"Oh for the love of everything magical and mysterious, NO!!" Belladonna whirled on the demon, a tiny bubble of anger rising within her. They had just risked their lives going down that path the first time because it was his idea and she wasn't angry about that. She was angry that he was suggesting it again. "We were all demolished that first time. Sneaking down a second time will result in the same thing and probably worse. I only have one pumpkin pill left and some people have none! Alwine didn't fight and was STILL hurt! We're not going down that path again."

She paused, taking a deep breath to soothe her frayed nerves.
"If you don't want to go down the mountain path because of the climbing or whatever... I don't know... Alwine and I will... Carry you or something!" She was feeling a desperate need to keep everyone together, no matter the cost... And carrying Barth would be a very high cost for the witch. (He was HEAVY!)

West narrowed his eyes at the path and at Barth and at everyone. As much as he wanted to go sprinting down Candy Cane Lane, snowball launcher blasting and laughter being all maniacal and such, he knew that if he failed he would be sent back to that awful infirmary, this time with no pumpkin pills to get him out again. With his luck, he'd be forced to stay there forever, not just until this whole silly invasion was over.

"I'll carrya, y'lazy b*****d," he muttered. "S'long as we move. Now."

Ninja killers had to stay together, right? Go team. Rah.

Jam's tail flickered, "The only other way to go is the other path, over the Island." She offered, "If we didn't want to climb that is. It might be slightly warmer than the mountains as well."

She shrugged softly looking boredly at the choices, "I guess I'll follow the group as long as it's not back towards the bridge of red death. I see why it's red striped now." She chuckled at her own joke, others might not have found it funny though.

"Well - but-" Barth started, until the carrying him part. Barth's demeanor did a 180, and his attention turned from Candy Cane Lane completely.

He looked from Belladonna to Alwine (from whom the offer probably wasn't feasible, but still appreciated) to West (who had enough rage to carry the entire party, probably).

His hero.

Aloud he said, "Works for me."

Basil smiled up at Jamie "We can go the way you want, I picked last time, and it wasn't the best choice to make soooo" she trailed off on her sentence. "Yea, island sounds good." she looked at the new chosen path and adjusted her tent/make-shift bag. "I'm ready when you are Jamie."

She chuckled along with Jamie "Well, I don't know what's next, but it will be better than the CandyCane Lane. Just wish I had something to fight with...instead of kicking and throwing snow." Basil kicked the snow at her feet.

((I'm ready to exit when you are.))

Arms outstretched, the witch turned with a quickness not yet witnessed by the others and hugged West. She hugged him tight too. After a second she let him go, glowing with the satisfaction of not having to carry Barth. He was her friend, sure, but he could carry his own weight! And while she couldn't, at least a fellow demon could. And for that she was utterly and entirely grateful.

"If you ever need a new outfit, come to me, ok?" She told West, smiling at him before turning to face the others. "WELL THEN. Now that that's settled, let's head out. If we hurry, we might just make it in time to catch up with the others. And even if we're late, I'm sure we'll still have fun!" A giggle escaped her mouth and if wasn't for all the black she was wearing, one might think she was actually a fan of this JOY. (No, no she was in fact, very much a hater of this joy.)

So with a rallying cheer, Belladonna dashed from the forests and towards the mountain trail.

Alwine looked at the paths. There was no way she was going down Candycane Lane again, so it looked like she would be joining the others down the Icy Path.

But before she went, she tiptoed towards Candycane Lane and peered. Of course, the ninja was nowhere in sight. How would he get her apology card?

Alwine wasn't very good at it, but she had seen others make paper bats before to fling during classes. So, she knelt over and started to fold the card into some sort of folded thing that could somehow pass off as a paper bat.

With a sigh she flung it towards Candycane Lane and shouted, "SORRY!!!" before running after the others to the Icy Path.

"Good, now thethat's settl--"

Hugging. There was hugging happening and he was involved. What in the... West's brows remained furrowed as his eyes widened ever so slightly, and when Belladonna let him go there might have been relieved sighing. He glanced around, looking for open skellyphones. If anyone had taken a picture of that, he was going to kill them.

"You," he said, jabbing a finger in the sloth demon's direction. "Youkin walk 'til we gettathe steep stuff."

And with that, he stomped after the chipper reaper. If someone called him on looking back every so often to see if Barth needed help yet, well, he would deny it.

Mandy had been so ready to charge down Candycane Lane when it came in sight. So, so ready. But the further they walked towards it the less certain of the intelligence of the idea she became.

The momentary scare with Rain had made her ready to charge down the Lane, smart idea or not. But then it turned out to be a false alarm and Rain was fine on the Mountain Path. And then everyone was talking about joining her. And as much as it pained her she was going to have to follow them, her revenge on would not last long if she was on her own.

Sighing she decided she'd just have to get him on the way back and trudged down the Mountain Path with everyone else.

The Reaper had been quietly following the group and listening to whatever was being spoken about, but had fallen a bit behind while watching her steps in the snow, not even realizing most of her companions had run ahead.

Watching Alwine and West move on from the distance, she was more perplexed at what the ghoul was doing and watched. So the card was for that stupid ninja?

The whole time, Colette thought Alwine was making a card for every student that attempted to tread through Candycane Lane; basically, their group. Since, you know, she noticed Alwine wasn't able to do anything the whole fight. She wasn't angry at the ghoul though, she didn't blame her for anything or why the heck she felt bad for the ninja, but Colette certainly didn't believe the ninja deserved any bit of sentiment.

She stared at the paper bat laying barely a few feet into Candycane Lane, thinking, I guess the ghoul didn't know they don't travel far before crashing into the ground, and went over to look at it. JingleBerry could choke on a candycane for all she cared, and Colette gave the bat a good stomp all while turning her foot to drive it into the snow. She briefly admired the footprint her shoe left behind before nonchalantly walking away.

Before moving on to the Icy Path, Colette turned to Barth. "Please don't go onto Candycane Lane," she said the 'please' in an almost annoyed tone, but it was all sincere to the Reaper, "I'll drag you whenever West doesn't carry you if there's a problem."

Being dragged probably didn't sound pleasing, but it's not like she could carry him. Anything that would keep him from impending doom was good for her, and she trotted forward to the next route.

Barth trailed behind, just happy that all the climbing had been forestalled.

Any bit of extra walking was, well, horrible, but at least it wasn't climbing.

Icy Path, ho!

Jamais watched everyone else go off to the Icey path, she looked at Basil and seemed to ponder while they muled about. She was trying to decide which was best.

At least it wasn't candy cane lane, there was NO way she was going back there unless she was coming back from where they were suppose to be and the group included everyone from all three cars.

Her tail flickered as her eyes returned to the paths. "Eh, we should probably follow the other guys. It's better to stay in a group than to run off and die on our own right?" She chuckled.
