Its not my fault you can't do anything right
Derrin, Steadfast Just leave me alone ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Derrin stirred at the same time as his green haired counter-part, "Ugggggh" He groaned as he tried to roll over to get some more sleep, Blossom had quite the death grip on him though and so he didn't get to, "Ugggggh," he said again, "Leave me alone, Jaren, I told you already the cheese is in the..." Wait, the hands on him were too petite to be the myrmidons, and Jaren already knew shaking him resulted in a certain green-haired moron flying out a window. He opened his eyes and was greeted to Blossom on the verge of panic.
"H-hi, Blossom what's the..." It was then that he saw over her shoulder what looked like an Astroid which had become Meteoroid which had in turn become a Meteor and now was swiftly on it's way to becoming a Meteorite.
Derrin gently pushed her off of him and stood up, "Are you ******** kidding me? I'm out for what? A minute? Five? And now there's a ******** meteor. This is just friggen great," He looked over at Blossom who was having a panic attack by the look of it. "Calm down Blossom, stop shaking. This is such bullshit!" He raised his voice at the end, along with his hand, words were mumbled as a bolt shot straight upwards into the sky. Obviously it wasn't going to reach the meteor and even if it did it probably wouldn't have any ******** mother ********." He mumbled as the air around his hand crackled sending off another shot. "I'm not going to let this thing fall on me! I won't die so easily! Watch me!" He roared his defiance into the sky.

Blossom startled and flinched as Derrin suddenly began to speak, still held tightly against her. She tried to relax, letting out a shaky little laugh. "D-Derrin...! You're awake, oh gods, y--"
"H-Hi, Blossom what's the..."
She followed his gaze up to the sky, her eyes widening again in open fear. "N-No, it's-- Derrin??" She winced as if struck as he yelled at her, trying to demand she calm down. It was irrational, she knew it; what point was there in being frightened? There wasn't anything they could do about it, but... but her body wouldn't stop shaking, as if overtaken by extreme cold, despite the suddenly-overbearing heat of summer. She thought of the city boiled alive by the heat of the meteor, consumed by dark energy. Crushed under the weight of a mighty stone-- okay, that thought, being crushed alive, was enough to nearly make her shriek in fear, and it took all of her willpower to simply tremble there, harder than before. "I-I'm sorry, I... I-I can't...!"
"I'm not going to let this thing fall on me! I won't die so easily! Watch me!"
Blossom grabbed on tightly to Derrin's arm, trying to pull him back again. None of his Thunder spells would be strong enough to save them from that meteor, there was nowhere to run or hide, and neither of them knew of a spell or barrier strong enough to even redirect the meteor, let alone destroy it. And yet, she only felt even more frightened by being all alone when it happened. "H-How... h-h-how long d-do we have until i-it... i-it hi-hits...?" she managed out, clutching a little more tightly to his upper arm and elbow. Her blue-grey eyes, previously focused on the sky, tore away from their impending doom to look at Derrin, as if he actually did have the answer they needed.

You know I can't slow down...
I can't hold back...
*******************
Time was of the essence here.
Lance was pondering what to do as he raced across the rooftops, occasionally charging off an Impact to help him speed across gaps. He was moving much faster than he was used to, and no wonder, seeing as impending doom loomed above them. There was quite a few ideas running through his head, but no matter what was the cause of the meteor, doing anything like this all alone was close to suicide. Curses, he should've rounded up a few people before setting off!
As fate would have it, he finally spotted a few familiar faces. "Blossom! And..."
He leapt down from his building, using a burst of Impact right before hitting the ground so he landed neatly in front of the duo. He couldn't remember the name of her companion, but he thought it wouldn't show through. "Thank goodness you both are alright! I was worried sick! But now we have another issue at hand! I'm sure you've noticed the giant rock heading towards us, a'ight? Well, I'm no expert, but something like that doesn't appear naturally. And as long as it's artificial, that means humans had a part in it, which we can defeat it! Whoever's responsible for it has to be outside the castle walls, or they'd end up getting hit by it too. How about it, friends? Come with me and help me stop it! I'm not about to sit idly sucking my thumb while disaster comes!"
Lance looked determined to stop it. He had a nagging feeling at the back of his head that everything would work out regardless, but he wasn't about to not do anything in case it didn't.

Kiote Deliven & Grave Yuion With the enemy retreating it was a pretty good sign that Kiote was going to be fine. He had backed himself against a wall away from the main gate after his short time fighting before lowering himself into a sitting position. He was injured, but that was to be expected for a ranger who only had so much skill with a sword. Kiote watched with a grim expression as the enemy forces, of which he still wasn't sure of their name, retreated. His arm was killing him, but now that he was sitting it didn't hurt so much because he wasn't moving. It really made a world of difference. Kiote had started to relax when suddenly the sky got darker, in fact everything got darker. At first, Kiote didn't move, but then slowly his eyes looked upwards at what he couldn't call anything other than a meteor. It was huge, to say the least.
Kiote might have stared at it a bit longer except that Grave suddenly appeared at his side in his humanoid form. The wolf was watching the sky intently before looking down at Kiote with his dark eyes. He was injured, but not so badly as to move obviously. " I don't think I can outrun that." Grave stated bluntly to Kiote. The ranger cracked a faint smile as he chuckled and turned his eyes to the sky again. Grave was right, they weren't going to outrun that thing. He had no idea what was going on, but it wasn't looking good. "I know. It's ironic really. We escaped one deadly fight to get drawn into another. The only difference is I don't think we're going to make it out of this one. It was good while it lasted, eh? Anything you want to say?" Kiote asked as he looked over at his friend.
"We're not done yet. I'll tell you when the end finally does come, but that's not now. There's still a chance, though how I don't know." Grave responded. Kiote nodded as he closed his eyes and sighed. He was tired. He hadn't fought so much in his entire life. He wanted sleep, except that if this thing was going to hit them, he was going to watch it hit them with eyes open. If he was going to die, he was going to face death in the process. "Well, I can't deny you that. Fine, we'll see."

Derrin, Steadfast Just leave me alone ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- felt her clutching on to his arm, trying to pull him back, trying to stop him. He didn't stop though, he couldn't stop, he simply raised his other hand and determinedly kept trying, because dammit it was something. "It's not going to fall on us Blossom, I will not let it." He paused to look down at her, his brown eyes meeting her blue-grey ones and he suddenly became aware of how close she was, "S-so stop shaking Blossom. Y-you'll be fine." He said blushing.
The moment however was ruined when some random dude fell from a roof and started talking at them.
Derrin nodded at Lance's words and let his arm fall back down to his side. "I'm all for doing something... but there's an entire army at those gates. Maybe we should go back to the castle and see what's being done there? I'm all for going out and cracking some Mordache skulls right now, but" He looked down at the girl hanging off of him "Blossom, you decide."---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please... The more time she spent watching the meteor falling towards them, the more Blossom could feel that something was not right. If that was a real meteor, especially a magically-summoned one, one would think that it would have fallen by now, to crash down to the ground and destroy literally everything. And yet it was still falling. It didn't seem natural, somehow, but hey, what did she know? She was busy being terrified of the damn thing!
"It's not going to fall on us Blossom, I will not let it." Blossom continued to tremble against his arm, holding on more tightly, but as he finally looked back to meet her gaze, she relaxed a little. The eye contact helped. "S-So stop shaking Blossom. Y-You'll be fine." His face was getting red. It was starting to get hotter around here, what with the rising sun...
"Blossom!"
Blossom's eyes snapped away from Derrin and met gold, and the mixture of shock and relief washing over her face was probably one to laugh about later. "Lance! Lance, you're a-all right!" She smiled weakly and squeezed Derrin's arm a little, as if to reassure him that maybe things would be okay. "I-I'm so glad you're a-all right...! I s-saw Ghis and St-Steely Dan earlier, they--"
"Thank goodness you both are all right! I was worried sick! But now we have another issue at hand!"
Blossom fell silent to let him speak, deciding that telling him about the Watch and Guard Captain's fates could be dealt with later. He sounded very serious, even more so than he usually did when he was serious about something, and it seemed almost impolite to interrupt him.
"...Stop it...?" Blossom looked not frightened now, but confused. It was a relief to have her vague suspicions confirmed by someone who knew more about magical constructs than her -- he did have those coins of his, after all -- but to actually stop it? They were a Mage, a Hero, and a... what was he? A Thief? I think he said he was an Errant once, whatever that is... "What are we supposed to be able to do? I-I mean... I don't think I can slice a meteor in half with my sword, magical or not..."
Derrin was speaking up, then, and she looked up to his face. "I'm all for doing something... but there's an entire army at those gates. Maybe we should go back to the castle and see what's being done there? I'm all for going out and cracking some Mordache skulls right now, but... Blossom, you decide."
Her eyes widened in sudden surprise."M-Me? Why me? Of everyone here, you or Lance could do a lot more to help...!!" She paused, looking back at Lance, then closed her eyes for a moment. If anything, she should... be grateful they were including her to begin with. "If we can find out more about wh-what's going on, and somehow do something to help, then we're probably... probably going to find the most information a-at the castle." She slowly rose to her feet, pulling Derrin up with her. She kept one hand clutching onto his, as if to ensure that he wasn't going to run off, and held her sword in the other, her whitened face set into a look of determination. "...We sh-should hurry."

 "I, uh, wait, what..."
Lance was gaping at the moment. They agreed with him, yet they were not at all thinking the same thing as him. "...are you joking?"
Forget that he was winded already after the sprint out from the castle. It wasn't as though he was a golem of some, having infinite stamina capable of running back and forth forever. "I just bleeding came from the castle, and you know what they were doing? Absolutely nothing! They were freaking out, sticking their heads into the sand like ostriches! Exactly what do you expect to find out by just going there? How many people that have gathered so they can die together in blazing flame?"
He was rubbing his temples as if he was really irritated now. "Honestly, I don't get you...but if anything, all we could do at the castle would be to aid any evacuation progress. The king is still there, alive and all. But so what? There's no point to having a king if the capital gets destroyed in the process. I have no issue sacrificing myself if it means stopping that bleeding rock up there, and I'd rather do so that just wait for it to hit. I'll do whatever you guys decide, but that doesn't mean I'll think it's smart or the right thing to do. We can't waste time deciding forever anyway!"
He sighed. He already had a feeling they were set on going to the castle...as if that is what fate had in store for them. Aaah~, Lady Luck, why couldn't you be on his side for just once?

Oh, thank goodness, she was conscious. Aeolus flipped back his ivory hair with a sigh, relieved to see that she could at least roll her head. He kept a solid vigil, a little uncertain of the wyvern rider nearby and, frankly, a little too unnerved by the situation to introduce himself. Something was telling Aeolus he would soon have something else to be unnerved by, as well. It was tugging on the fringes of his senses, and it made him bristle anxiously.
He knew what it was when the sky changed. Aeolus snapped his head back, wide-eyed at the unnatural phenomenon that was unfolding. Tremendous, sinister power hurtled from the earth and seemed to crack the sky apart, and the ex-slave ducked his head, fearful of the presence of Mordache. He had just been the servant of lowly artisans and merchants, some with peculiar tastes, but there was no telling how close he had been to partaking in the circle of human sacrifice.
~
Soren witnessed it too. Needless to say, just about everyone did—it was too big not to miss. He screeched to a halt when he felt the fluctuations of magic in the air, spirits of Reason in an uproar as the wind scattered, flames flickering and battered in its wake, the clouds and earth crackling with an otherworldly movement. He held Orthrus close to him as he gazed off toward the source. Ed stopped beside him, chittering nervously.
The sight was breathtaking. It should have seemed small with its distance, but it was enormous, too entirely enormous, and they knew immediately that it came cradling death and ruin. But what could they do beyond gawk at the meteor? All three went still, their breaths caught in their throat, eyes locked on what would be the end of everything they knew.

There was plenty to keep consideration of. One side versus another side versus another. War was where ideals clashed in a flurry of flesh and blood, but she could never say if it did those ideals justice. She'd done what she could to exert order without revealing herself too blatantly; she was never fond of conflict, after all. But as she watched that immense mass of destruction creep its way toward the earth, the Goddess finally said it:
"I've seen enough."
Would that other gods stood with her, but she rarely consorted with them anyway. She could only hope she had recovered enough to combat this force. The Goddess turned with a sweep of her robe and hastened her way out of the castle, ignoring any and all who questioned her presence. With everything in an uproar the way it was, she was sure no one had room in their thoughts to wonder why she'd been hiding there, anyway.
She moved swiftly, barely resembling a breeze brushing through the dead and living, child and man and woman, the panicked and the resolute. More than one face she recognized, some she swore she could have never seen before, and for each and more she spotted, she made sure to remember. There was a reason this world was formed, after all. She had to ensure it remained in balance.
The Goddess stood before Mordachean territory outside of Eyris. She could see where the ground crackled with the lifeblood of human sacrifice and the exhausted efforts of dark mages, and in her heart, sadness fluttered. She could hardly fathom how it could have come to this. Yet what was done was done, and there was only the future to think of, the present to decide it. She lowered her hood.
Prongs of light were thrown up around Ashunera, glistening with designs that ran like veins through the barrier, though whether it was truly a barrier was questionable. Light cracked across the earth, skittering into Eyris itself and forming ley lines of their own, gathering around every individual who stood upon the ground so they could draw upon the people's virtues. It wasn't so much as drawing power as it was aligning Ashunera with one person's strength and values, and then aligning that person with another's, and that one with another's, and whether they felt it or not was up to them, but it gave her what she needed to fight back without the need for human sacrifice. Some part of the Goddess murmured that, perhaps, Loki drew his power in a similar way, and that the dark mages had just been a way to channel all of that power into the vessel of his wrath above.
Well, Ashunera was here to channel the power of Learania.
The lines brightened, the barrier humming with power. Pathways clicked into place like gears and a force just a touch above magic gathered in her form. She closed her eyes and thought again of the faces she saw, all those who had a future not meant to be cast to Loki's hunger.
This is your conviction, Learania and its allies, whispered her voice through the ley lines. Let us see if it will be enough.
Light folded in on itself once, twice; it spiraled and fluctuated, and then suddenly it was tearing across the sky in a spear that would collide with the meteor, envelope it, and hopefully consume it.

"...that was a bit of an anti-climax."
After the entire buildup Lance had going, the meteorite seemed to be pushed back by a mysterious ray of light. It's not like he minded, but it seemed...too convenient.
Well never the ******** mind then.
"Right, I don't know if that's the problem solved, but I'd say we just gained more time. Let's hurry back to the keep to the others. If that beam can save us, we better be ready with the rest of the resistance to beat back anything still after us. Come on, let's get moving."
With that said, Lance motioned for the keep, waiting for hopefully Blossom to start making her way to the castle first. At the same time, he looked over at Derrin with a gaze, as if telling Derrin something only two men could understand.

"...Are you joking?"
Blossom instantly blanched a little further. "A-Ah..." She could only stare at Lance, hand shaking on the hilt of her sword, but continued to stand. If anywhere, she thought that the castle... people at the castle would actually be working on something, at least trying to plan an escape route, rush to a safety bunker, something. But nope, according to Lance, they were basically... doing what she had been doing just a few minutes ago, panicking and waiting to die.
Probably not the best idea.
Blossom looked over to Lance, clearly tired, and looked to Derrin. Wait, were they still waiting on her to decide something? He had just finished explaining how bad an idea going to the castle was! She looked back to Lance, trying not to pay attention to the small group of soldiers fleeing behind them and toward the gates. "Well... u-um, did you... even have any ideas for how to stop that thing? What I said earlier still stands, I'm... probably the least helpful to stop a huge ball of elder magic of anyone here."
And then, almost as suddenly as it had left her mouth, the city lit up, as if the dawn had arrived. Again. Blossom's blue-grey eyes lifted to the sky as a ray of light burst out from somewhere outside the city, arrowing right for the meteor.
"...W-Well, then." Blossom coughed self-consciously into her fist.
"Right, I don't know if that's the problem solved, but I'd say we just gained more time. Let's hurry back to the keep to the others. If that beam can save us, we better be ready with the rest of the resistance to beat back anything still after us. Come on, let's get moving."
"O-Oh! Right. All right." She offered an encouraging smile to Lance, sheepishly re-gripping her sword in both hands before setting off at a loping jog. She paused, took a step back, and looked over in Wallace's direction. "You can come with us, too!" She smiled at the three of them, then set off at the same pace for the keep, already feeling better. She had Lance and Derrin, and hopefully now the meteor was going to be a non-issue. They could definitely take on anyone left in the city now, yes sir!
And of course, Lance's subtle gesture to Derrin went completely unnoticed.
[[The Wallace comment is made under the presumption that he was still near the alleyway during all of this.]]

There were somethings a man had to do, for the good of those around him. As much as Derrin didn't like it, as much as he wished the battles would stop choosing him, as much as he thought it was useless, he still had to do it.
Although light was shooting towards the meteor, it was unknown whether or not it would be effective. Lance had the right of it and Blossoms answer had shown she was scared, it would be best if she went back to the castle in order to gain her bearings. Derrin was aware it was a bit of a mean trick to play on her but... she'd be safer this way.
The moment her back was turned he nodded back at Lance and started walking. Away from the castle.

Lance raised an eyebrow at Derrin's movement. Blossom had not yet noticed that neither Lance nor Derrin was following her. However, the raised eyebrow turned into irritation, as a vein bulged in Lance's forehead. The idiot mage had COMPLETELY missed the hint. Was he not man enough to understand it? Or did Lance try the wrong look? Either way, he had to stop Derrin from doing something wrong. He quickly, but silently, grabbed hold of Derrin's arm and leaned in close to his ear as the two of them kept on walking. He whispered in a very low voice. "Are you mental, you muppet?! This is not at all what I meant! I was trying to tell you to go with Blossom!"
Lance sighed before continuing. "Look, the enemy is obviously outside the walls. But we don't know where, how many, how strong they are...we need someone to scout ahead. Blossom is in no condition to fight, so we need her to get reinforcements from the castle. But she needs someone to be with her...you need to go with her. I'll go on my own to launch a pre-emptive attack on any stragglers I find, before they're able to recruit. You two need to bring the defenders together!"
He spun around with Derrin in tow, forcing Derrin to keep on walking after Blossom. "I'll be fine. Protect my friend."
Lance waited around, to make sure Derrin kept on walking after Blossom, before he considered his next move.

Blossom slowed after just a few more minutes of running, turning to look back at Lance and Derrin. They would easily be able to keep up, right? Especially with her breathing; while admittedly somewhat recovered, it was still rather labored from her earlier exertion, and her pace was equally slowed. "Derrin, Lance, do--"
Derrin was moving after her, notably slower than her, while Lance was moving away from them, down the road and towards the outer areas of the city, rather than its center. She strapped her sword hurriedly to her back, finally remembering that Oh, right, I have a strap for this thing, why haven’t I been using it before hurrying over to Derrin. She grasped onto his forearm and watched Lance for a few more paces before looking up to the Mage’s face, confusion overtaking anything else she might have been feeling at that moment.
“Wait… what about Lance? Shouldn’t he be coming with us?” She gripped a little more tightly, stalling in the middle of the street. He’d said to go to the castle, and she was more than glad to listen to him on that front – it was a good idea, get everyone ready to defend the city against the remaining invaders – but the only reason she could think of for him to head towards the walls alone would be if he intended on taking on any of their enemies on his own. “Is he trying to fight alone? Or is he just trying to scout out? Did he say to let him go off on his own?” She tried to use the moment to catch her breath further, leaning subtly against Derrin’s weight, clutching securely onto his arm for support.

JamesTake me home, to the land of my fathers... "Is there... really nothing we can...." James gritted his teeth and jolted his head to the ground as his eyes slammed shut. "How can anyone dare try to do good in a world so lost and enveloped in darkness... Was is it all just a child's dream..." His eyes watered a little. "Hope really is just a fairy tale..." "I've seen enough."James opened his eyes and looked up. "W-what was..." The strong yet calming voice echoed in his mind. As his gaze locked on the goddess, astonishment froze him entirely. He had been taught that the gods abandoned the world, yet here one was, as if she'd been with them all along. Her light stretched out to every person, him included, and he could not understand what it meant. He looked at Captain Nino and vice Captain Rath. Their light shined brightly and it seemed their convictions empowered it. He reflected on his own light and saw how much it dimmed. His mind was lost. As he looked around at all the other lights, he could see them strengthening, becoming strong and pure. Still, his own remained dull.
"This is... this is impossible. Impossible!" he shouted. "I don't understand..." He looked up at the oncoming doom and could see the efforts of the goddess and all the people. The powers clashed and shook the earth. But those whose lights shined brightly did not falter. To James' horror, the darkness began to overtake the light. He looked to those around him, but found that they still did not waver. "Is... this what faith is?" James wiped his eyes. "I don't know who this goddess is... but... I'll choose to believe!!"
James shut his eyes and he lifted his head to the sky. The desire to help his people turned into prayers. His light then shined brightly as well and added its strength to the rest.
