Looking at the other students, Stars pauses, but then continues:
"And other students who didn't get the chance to raise their own plant in a safe environment.
If I told you that screechsnap are noisy moving plants and umbrella flowers are, unsurprisingly, like umbrellas, what do you think they could be used for?"

Stars looks around the messy greenhouse and the absence of her pupils makes her feel apologetic she wasn't able to engage them more. She sighs sadly and waves her wand. Some sad ballad starts to play out of nowhere as she waves her wand again and the brooms kick into sweeping motions where soil has been spilled. The professor takes the outgrown screechsnap plants and finds some larger pots to plant them in. Her actions following the instructions she made for repotting mandrakes.
After the screechsnap are happily humming in the new pots, Stars moves onto the umbrella plants which she releases to float around the roof of the greenhouse. They appear to dance towards the sky in jellyfish-like motions. She pulls up a stool and sits down to watch them for a moment.

Ravenclaw, second year... ::Sabrina walks into the greenhouse, watching with a smile as some umbrella flowers float around the room.::I'm so sorry that I'm late, professor. I see that I've missed an assignment. Is there any way to make it up, or should I just accept the loss and worry about the next assignment? What are we discussing now?((So sorry about the long absence. Life got in the way of my beloved computer time for the last month or two. ^^;;; ))...Where those of wit and learning will always find their kind.

Stars perks up as she spots Lena and smiles as she finds drawings on her desk. She picks up a sparkly green pen and writes: Quote: Excellent report and wonderful care for your plant. She takes the plant and puts it in the back to repot when she has spare time. When she returns she sees a second year Ravenclaw. "Ahh Sabrina, good to have you back. I'm afraid it is too late to do that assignment, but never fear! We'll be thinking about the uses of umbrella plants and screechsnap, even though there's nothing in JK Rowling's textbook. I'll repeat what I said before: screechsnap are noisy moving plants and umbrella flowers are, unsurprisingly, like umbrellas, what do you think they could be used for?"

Amelia Frances
Wrapping her robes around her thin body tightly, she crossed the grounds of Hogwarts. The cool air was whipping about, through the cotton robes she wore. She ran to the glass house quickly, and barely paused before entering, shutting the door behind her. Once out of the wind, she paused, catching her breath, and getting used to her surroundings. The students seemed to be usual for each class, but the plants were new. Not only were they the usual calming emotion found in her lawn. These seemed like there was an extra energy, some playful, but others...seemed more vicious. With a shiver, no longer from the cold, she found a seat. She missed hearing the question but introduced herself instead, "Hello Professor Stars. I am Ammy. I've just arrived at Hogwarts. I'm sorry for my absence. My father had an extended leave, and I stayed until he went on tour." Running a hand through her hair, she added, "I'll get the notes on what you've taught. Are there any assignments I can make up beside this?" She offered the piece of paper she wrote her report on the plant she picked to write about.Quote: Gillyweed A water plant, native to the Mediterranea, appears like a bundle of slimy grayish green rat tails. If eaten, it grows gills for underwater breathing and webbing between fingers and toes, ideal for swimming; it only lasts one hour. It is important to maintain its growth for dives to explore the underwater depths. There is much about the ocean we can discover without the heavy technology of submarines, with simple gillyweed. Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth Year"Sorry I'm late Professor. I'm Olli. Just got enrolled here. Can I make up any assignments...?" Olli asked, but her voice trailed off as she saw another girl asking the exact same question. She rocked back and forth on her heels and brushed her bangs out of her face as she waited to hear the response. She turned to the girl and said pleasantly, "Hi, I'm Olli. What's your name?"

Amelia grinned at the girl, glad she wasn't the only new one, even with the obvious differences in their ages. "I'm Ammy. I'm only really called Amelia when I'm in trouble," she winked at her, showing she didn't mind too much getting into trouble, though like everyone else, getting caught was a great downside. She glanced around the room, commenting lightly, "It's amazing how much life is in here." She knew she would enjoy this class. Even if all they did was pot and replant, it would be soothing. Something none of her wand waving classes were yet. "You're a...sixth year right?" She guessed high to insure she didn't insult her. "Does knowing magic make the castle any easier to navigate?" She'd checked out Hogwarts, A History in search of a map, but none seemed to be found. It was ridiculous, considering the age of the castle. It had to have a map, right?

Lena raised her hand. Professor? Do I repot my umbrella plant? Or will that be later?

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth Year"Yes, it's very soothing..." Olli whispered, looking around the greenhouse and taking a deep breath. "I'm actually a fifth year. And no, unfortunately magic doesn't help you with going about the castle. If it did, I wouldn't be getting lost all the time. So what year are you in?" she asked, turning to look at the girl. She guessed the was a third year by how confident she seemed, but her lack of knowledge of the castle suggested otherwise.

Amelia seemed to puff up in pride, the way only little kids can. She was grateful she didn't immediately label her a first year. Apparently that touch of make up she stole from her mother helped. Still she was honest, as she admitted, "I'm a first year. It's my third day....so..." She scratched the back of her head nervously, "I can truly say I'm clueless.'' She flashed Olli a grin, telling her she didn't mind that state for a while.

Olli Hufflepuff ; Fifth YearOlli nodded. For a first year, Ammy was quite mature. "Well, don't worry about that part. If you ever need help getting around the castle you can ask me," she said with a smile, before cupping her hand around her mouth and speaking so only Ammy could hear, "That way when we get lost we won't have to suffer alone."

Amelia Frances
((Is that a hint that she's too mature? I am trying to make her a kid...it's just 9 years is a long time ago.))
Amelia bit her lip to smother her laugh. Silently she was thankful to Fate that she'd found a friend. She'd been hopeful when she checked in on Liviana, but if she wasn't mistaken, the older girl might have been avoiding her. She definitely wasn't seeking her out to be sure. Determined not to let herself worry about it, she looked about the room, unsure what they were supposed to be doing. The teacher had been too busy to answer either of them, but none of the students seemed to be particularly busy. There were a great number of plants labeled with individual names. Some looked as if they were umbrellas, though their practical use she was unsure of. The other just seemed content to snuggle down and relax, though she could have sworn she sensed that they didn't want to be disturbed. Either way, she wasn't touching them without permission. Turning back to Olli, she whispered, "We might want to find someone else to help us get unlost occasionally. Or at least give us the notes from this class." Being properly sorted, notes were an important part to her.
((That's only hypothetical; if you really are curious, in my profile are the plants that the students wrote about and the plants they grew/re-potted.))
