It didn't take Earendil long to wash for lunch, but he also changed his clothes so that they could be washed before his trip the next day. He was downstairs before Lin and Miyuki, but he still wasn't the first one in the dining room: both his parents, his grandparents, and Kaito were already there and eating.
"Where are Shea and Mikhail?" he asked as he sat down next to two other empty seats.
"They'll be coming," his mother replied. "Where are Lin and Miyuki?"
"Washing up."

As if on cue, Miyuki came rushing in clutching her doll to her chest. Behind her, her mother and Senka came in at a calmer pace.
She hurried up to her Ada and announced, "All clean!"

"Good for you!" Earendil beamed. He pushed out the chair next to him and patted it. "Come on, up you go," he told her. "Right here next to me."
Luthien giggled. "Hello, Miyuki," she greeted her. "You've certainly grown since the last time I saw you."

Miyuki scurried to climb onto the chair and sat her little behind on the seat. She looked curiously over at Luthien, she didn't remember her neither.
"You know me too?"
"Of course," Lin replied, "You were here for a small while when you were really little, but you were very small then."
She took a seat beside Miyuki.

"Mostly everyone knows you here, Miyuki," Luthien smiled.
Earendil chuckled. "Miyuki, this is my mother, Luthien." He nodded across the table. "My ada, Ruel, my great-grandfather, Reave ... and you already know Ninako."

"Oh....."
Miyuki looked around the table and waved at everyone.
"Hello!"
She even gave her Ada's Ada a brilliant smile.

"Hello," the king smiled back at her.
Ruel ignored her and started eating, quite deliberately.
Earendil sighed and shook his head. Ruel was Ruel, and he wasn't going to change.

Miyuki blinked at Ruel before her attention was taken up by the King. She grinned happily at him.
Lin meanwhile carefully took Miyuki's doll and set it aside. She was grateful there were other people there. She wasn't sure if she had any patience for Ruel's antics this time around.
"Everything is so new to her," Lin chuckled watching as Miyuki's attention kept flitting from thing to thing.

"Just wait," Earendil chuckled, grinning at Lin. "Someday, this will be so common to her she won't bat an eyelash. But if this is different for her, imagine when we get to Amon Darthir - that will be different for her."
Ruel looked up at his son. "You're taking them with you?"
"Why not?" Earendil looked at his father evenly. "I can think of no reason to leave them behind."
Ruel opened his mouth to say something else, but Luthien put one hand on his arm and shook her head at him, telling him to keep quiet.

Lin opt not to say anything, even though she didn't like the way Ruel was asking that.
"It'll be good to see Rhea, Elros and everyone else again," Lin added, "Miyuki only had two tails the last time she saw them."
Not to mention they left so quickly after they came back from the Eastland Lin doubted she remembered them neither.
"Who?" Miyuki blinked up at her mother.

Earendil chuckled and ruffled Miyuki's hair affectionately. "You'll see them in a month or so," he told her. "Maybe you'll remember, and maybe you won't, but even if you don't then you'll be able to meet them, and you'll get to know them."
They were probably going to be there for a while, so who knew how long she would have to get to know them?

"Oh...." Miyuki had to think about this for a moment, "Okay!"
Even though she would like to know who they were even though she didn't know them. That was just the way she was.
"There's a lot to look forward to on this trip," Lin chuckled.

A servant came and served Earendil, Lin and Miyuki, and Earendil held one hand out to Miyuki.
"Can I have your doll for now?" he asked her kindly. "You wouldn't want to get food on it, would you?"

"Okay...." Miyuki handed her Ada the doll.
Even though it was obvious from the tone of her voice she didn't really want to, but she didn't want to get her doll dirty neither. So she had to give it to him.

Earendil took the doll and set it on the table beside him so that it would stay clean, then began eating.
A moment later, Aranxia and Regan entered the room, followed by Tinuviel and Aranel.
"Oh! They're back!" Regan beamed, waving. "Hi!"
