Erebus just looked at Andros. "I couldn't take Piper from the only thing she's known nor could I do that to my children. Could you do that to Allegra? This planet and her mom is all she's really ever known." He could imagine the conversation between Andros and Allegra if he really did decide to do that. Allegra would be all big eyed and innocent looking with her brown doe like eyes filling with tears as her father explained that she would have to go somewhere far away... He shook his head.
"So should we put up security measures such as keeping a guard around our homes and families?"

"I can't take her because her Mother would never go. Orion though, I am thankful he got away. Only thing I regret....letting them and helping them make him another little soldier boy. Not the life I want for my children. Orion has the misfortune of being the child of soldiers during a time of war. If I could go back....I would have sent Summer far away. To have and raise Orion in a peaceful world." He nodded his head.
"I already sent the message. Someone will be in contact soon." Andros looked toward the door.
"This is not the life anyone wants. Especially not for their children. All this fighting...It makes you old and it kills you. Destroys you. Little by little. Chips away at you. The killing. The lies. Life running...."

Erebus shook his head. "Ali would go if it meant that her daughter's life was at stake. She knows what its like to be moved around from place to place... Her father was a soldier like we were at one time... But I think that we don't have to worry about that anytime soon..."
He nodded. "But will they be in contact soon enough? I rather not have any of our families taken and trafficked across the universe."

"Within 48 hours." Andros sighed. "I wish it could be sooner. By the time it makes it there and they decide what should be done. It will take months before someone comes though." Andros paused. There was a strange sound and then a light tapping. Andros opened the door and peaked out.
"Persephone take your padded butt back to Summer!" The little girl pouted and her eyes watered. Then she wiggled her fingers at Andros. The baby sign for pick me up!
"No! Go back to Summer!" Then he closed the door.
"Shhhh! Not a word till she is gone."

Erebus waited till the baby was gone before he spoke again. "So what should we do? Should we station ourselves around our families or somewhere else?"

"Well....Cal, Summer, and Orion will spread out. I should go as well. You have this area under control but....I don't want to be in and out of Allegra's life." He sighed.
"Not sure. The soldier in me says go. The Dad in me....says to stay. I don't want Orion and Cal going off alone either." He ran a hand through his hair.
"We are scientist now! Not soldiers!"

Erebus looked at him, he was still deep in thought. He felt bad for Andros. He didn't know how he would react if he wasnt in his family's lives. "Yes... It wouldn't be fair to Allegra to just come back now to only leave again. Lets try this. You stay close to Allegra and Alicia and Summer and I can switch off and on with Cal and Orion. That way you can scan the area for any activity while being around and able to protect your other family" He looked at Andros when he told him that he was a scientist and not a soldier. "Once a soldier.. Always a soldier."

Andros gave a humorless laugh. "I once told Summer that. She told me....a person can be whatever it is they want to be. It's just how much you want to change and how much effort you put into it." He shook his head.
"We can switch off. I am sending Summer away though. Summer and Persephone should be stationed at a safe distance in space." He sighed.
"Cal...he's not one of my men. I trained him but he was sent to serve under another. I have no long how long Cal will be with us truthfully." He looked toward the door.
"My biggest mistake on Earth...playing a part in bringing children into such a dangerous place. I love them both. As much as I know how but I can't stand this anymore. I can never seem to protect them. Give them a quiet peaceful life. A life of normal children. Another reason I left Alicia and Allegra. I realized I was a soldier. A bringer of death. Where ever I go death follows. I wanted them safe. They can't be safe with me." He looked back at Erebus.
"I have no idea what to do anymore...."

Erebus shook his head. He was getting tired of the "poor me" crap Andros was putting on. He pushed him up against a wall. "LOOK here Andros. Death is everywhere at anytime! Not because you were a soldier. People die all the time! Death is just another part of life. If I were you I would not be sitting around away from those I love because I fear that they will die or be wouldn't be safe just because I was near! NO!! I would be doing my damnedest to do everything in my power to keep them safe. Now tell me what would you do if Alicia and Allegra are one of the first victims to be taken? Do you ever considered that. So tell me Andros. What are you going to do now? Are you going to moan with self pity about death? Or are you going to man the ******** up and defend your families? The decision is entirely yours but let me again imphasize the importance of your decision. Are you willing to carry the blood of your families because you give into cowardice over death, Andros?"

Andros shoved Erebus. "Your an idiot Erebus. You don't see what we have done. More then half these idiot creatures are on OUR TAIL. We lead them to Earth. Yes I'll protect my family but I won't pretend or lie to myself. Had I went the hell home when this was all done. Summer wouldn't be a head case. Orion wouldn't be a child soldier. Alicia could have went on to have her happily ever after that she wanted." Andros shook his head.
"I am just sick of all this fighting. I do it though. I do it because I have to. It's not about manning up. Trust me because I know I am an excellent warrior. I know I can easily kill and not have to worry about being found if I don't want it. I just want a normal life for my family. What is wrong with that?! To want to know their safe and happy. Who doesn't want that?!"
Orion knocked on the door. "There is a message. There is an attack. We're being invaded. Or at least they are trying. Most of the ships have been destroyed but we've also taken quite a few major losses." Then he was gone. Back to his computer.

Erebus glared. "Yes a normal life and all that freakin jazz. Here's a news flash for you Andros. There is no such thing as normal. Nothing ever is normal. Nothing will ever be normal. Nothing can be normal. I am not normal. You are not normal. Piper, Alicia, Allegra, Rose, Matt, Taylor, Orion, and Summer are not normal. So why then are you trying to put them in a category that has never existed?! They're all mostly happy. No one is always happy and if they are then seriously something is wrong with them but your pissing and moaning about things that you cannot have the happy life you wanted for you and your families. But if you sit back and not fight for anything that you care for then honestly they're all better off without you!"
Orion merely added to his case and Erebus raised his arm as if to say example a. "So now what are you going to do? Sit here and moan about life?"

"Erebus...I'll b***h and moan all I want. I still get the job done so kiss my furry blue a**." He walked out the door. He was immediately at Orion's side.
"Move. I'll take over. I want you and Cal to be ready. If anything lands or crashes....we have to be ready to go. So arm up." Orion nodded. Cal was already in his Andalite form.

Erebus shook his head and rolled his eyes. He slowly walked out. "We still have to figure out who goes where and watches who and when. We should know what to do when and if anything does land or crash here."

"Well as you can see I am pretty busy right now. You can talk to those two." Andros was rapidly punching in a series of what one could assume was numbers and letters. The symbols on the keyboard were alien. Summer handed Erebus a slip of paper.
"This code will activate the shielding system we set up around the perimeters of your house. No one can read or pick up anything. All your transmissions will remain secret. It also will block you from any systems scanning the area for lifeforms. This code is for the system we installed around Alicia's home. Now the thing with this code....as long as it's in place...you can only send messages to our homes and our mothership. Any messages that need to be sent to any other ships. The mothership's system will day several Earth hours to scan and approve or deny your request. The system is still very sensitive and has a few glitches still. Andros and Orion didn't get to work the last of the issues out. It can still be used and go up. It's main function is not compromised."

Erebus sighed and looked at the slip of paper. "Now if only you can get that to work for people who have things to go out of the house to do what they have to do. I can't defend everyone I know outside of this place...."
