Kat ignore him a moment as she looked Jeffery over, noting the burn on his neck and removing his shirt to see how bad and how large it was. "Renae," she said quietly, recognizing the attack. She moved her hand to his neck and checked the strength of his pulse, also making sure it was somewhat even.

She glanced over at Sam, "how long has he been out?"

"Something like a buzz, you just got a taste of my power...and quite literally." Kat kept her eyes on Jeffery, and placed a hand on his forehead, checking for a fever of any kind.

With his skin feeling normal to the touch, Kat pulled herself away, there was nothing more she could check for, and could only assume he would get up eventually. "Stupid idiot, putting himself on the line to save everyone's a**."

"Sam, you're seventeen...maybe eighteen? He's your coach, an adult, and a capable man. He could have told you no and not let you show up there last night. Hell, if I'd know what you two were doing, I'd have tied you up in the basement and set a very large German shepherd named Rex to guard you."
Kat stood up and began walking away from the bed, motioning for Sam to follow after her.

"Are you hungry? I can make you some pancakes or something." She was still upset, which was clear by the way her shoulders were set. "And are you hurt anywhere? Or was Jeffery the only one to take a hard fall?"

"Because I'm stressed out. It's a coping method I picked up back when I was one of the blue throw-a-ways. When we didn't get food, one of my friends and I would play a game, coming up with unusual food combinations and recipes that we would try to make on the day after the tests when we'd finally become keepers." Kat set about working in the kitchen, ignoring the pancake mix in the cupboard and putting something together from scratch. "I hope you like cinnamon."

As she worked she glanced over at him, "Oh, and the whole 'badguys' thing, is a bit overblown. The majority of them are badguys, no doubt, but I'd be wary of taking that stance if I were you." She paused, glancing at the mixer, "still, I suppose you both did a good job....even if you were stupid to do it in the first place."

"I never said any of them were good guys." Kat said, pouring some of the mix onto the pan. "They're just not all bad guys." Kat turned to look at him. "So what is it you intend to do now? Did you think that you actually accomplished the task of keeping them away from your family?"

"Because it gives me something to do that isn't stupid or dangerous, and gives me a chance to think and calm myself before I make any decisions." Kat flipped a finished pancake onto a plate, continuing with the process.
"You did fairly well, in the fact that you both survived. You also took one out in the blast, the cops found a body. I'm not sure which one it was, but it'll give us some advantage."

Kat took a the plate of pancakes and brought it over to him. "Even better, they only have a hand full of speeders...a particularly useful power. Losing that one will cause quite a blow for the organization. That one in particular was also an a**, had grabby hands." Kat moved back to the stove to finish up the pancake batter for whenever Jeffery would wake up. "So since when has a high school football coach been a sharp shooter, and did you know about it?"
