When she heard Kilik's shrill whistle, Kasiya'd already gotten through almost half of her stack of waffles, and she looked up at her friends and waved back. Looks like they wanted her to join them after all, and she smiled to herself. Today's gonna be a good day, she thought as she sipped her chocolate milk, if anything to make it easier to carry. She stood up and lifted her tray up, looking around at her party as they continued to eat. Eh, they'd be fine for now. After all, she'd only be a few tables away. However, no sooner had she taken a few steps when a loud and echoing burp came from one of the six creatures behind her, and Kasiya looked back to see Nova lying spread-eagle on the floor, her head resting right in her empty bowl. She rubbed her bulging tummy contentedly, her flaming tail swishing back and forth and she let out a happy sigh. "Finished already? Wow, that was fast," Kasiya murmured, staring at the Charmander in disbelief. Who knew the little one had such an appetite? A quick glance showed that the other five weren't even close to finishing their own meals yet, and Kasiya sighed and shook her head before continuing over to Kilik and Mitsu's table.
"Morning, guys," she said, carefully placing her tray on the table and taking a seat next to Mitsu. "Excited about today? I know I sure am!" she said happily before enjoying another bite of her waffles. Maybe it was just her good mood, but even food seemed to taste that much better when the anticipation of a new adventure was hanging in the air.
=-=-=-=-= Before Jaeshan could even respond, Riza had let all her Pokemon out of their Pokeballs, and he nodded approvingly at the team she'd managed to assemble so far. Just four so far, but it's a good start, he thought, recognizing the Kirlia and Corphish almost instantly. He had no clue what the third one was, as he'd already been introduced to the Cyndaquil, so he took out his PokeDex. Sneasel, eh? Never saw one of those before. He put the device back safely in his backpack and touched a finger to his chin. "She doesn't know Ember yet," he repeated to himself as Riza took Eris to the other end of the field, and he nodded. "Okay, this will work, then."
He clicked the center of the two Pokeballs, releasing both Squirtle and Weedle in a flash of light. "Weedle, you're up first, all right?" he said, giving the small bug Pokemon the nod. The only thing that worried him was that Weedle's only real attack was Poison Sting, and he really didn't want to accidentally poison Riza's baby Cyndaquil. It should be okay though, he thought, folding his arms and waiting for Riza and Eris to make the first move. If she gets poisoned, I have a few Pecha berries in my pack. "Ladies first," he called, if anything more amused that she'd called him Jae than anything else. For the most part the nickname didn't bother him one bit, though when Keegan had used it, it had in fact been quite annoying, but that might have been because they'd been battling and emotions were running high.
=-=-=-=-= All at once Mai's head began to swim and she held her head in her hands, suddenly feeling very unstable on her feet. She wanted nothing more than to head back to her room and collapse on her bed, and she could only watch angrily as first the Arbok burst from the ground, pelting Shocker with rocks and grit before he ripped into the Raichu with his sharp fangs, only to be devastated by a powerful psychic attack to her mind only a split second later, thanks to Helios. Those two attacks, combined with the previous Heat Wave and burn had left Shocker with no energy left whatsoever and with a little whimper the Raichu toppled forward, quite unconscious. "Dammit," Mai grumbled as she recalled the fallen mouse into it's Pokeball, and she glared sharply at Keegan. "How can you call yourself a trainer if you don't even know all of your Pokemon's moves? That was Extrasensory, you useless, red-haired fool!" Stumbling a little, she pointed to Celsius. "Take out that Ninetales," she said firmly. "Headbutt."
Still fighting off the bits of static that clung to her body, the Glalie rose into the air, not uttering so much as a sound before she took aim at the Ninetales and plummeted down like a comet towards the fox.

"If I'm so useless then how come you're down one Pokemon and I'm not? Looks like you're the fool, not me!" Keegan taunted, very much like a little kid in a schoolyard fight, though he committed the part about Helios being able to use Extrasensory to memory. This momentary lapse in judgment caused him to forget the battle for just a second too long, though the sudden thud of the Glalie crashing into Helios snapped him back to attention. "Headbutt?!" he repeated, glaring at the Rocket incredulously. "That's not Headbutt, that's more like... Glalie... falling... attack," he mumbled, unable to think of anything truly witty to say as he held up Helios' Pokeball and recalled him. He looked over at Loki, virtually untouched since the battle's start, and he smiled to himself. Her Glalie was paralyzed, and Mai was drunk, so the odds were looking pretty good right now. Okay, so he was drunk too, but he liked to think he had more of his wits about him than she did. He straightened up a little and eyed the Face Pokemon, certain he thought he saw two of them for a split second or so. "Loki, use Stockpile," he said, though it came out a little slurred. The Arbok, who'd been giving the Rocket Admin the stink-eye since landing his attack on Shocker, nodded and opened his mouth, seemingly taking in a deep breath and holding it for a moment before his body seemed to shimmer. That's one, Keegan thought. ===== Miharu could only stare on in awe as the Thunderbolt was reflected and directed back psychically at the initial attacker, and as the electricity fizzled out Starrie bobbed up to the surface, core gem blinking rapidly to signal that it had run out of energy. "How... did that... happen?" Miharu asked quietly, staring at the fallen Starmie for a moment or so before remembering to recall it. She glanced back at the cheeky Golduck and his even cheekier trainer, and frowned. Miharu had thought for a bit that this Marina girl had been all talk and no substance, but now it appeared as though she'd put all her training efforts into her Golduck, and boy had it ever paid off. "Okay, Aska, it's your turn now," Miharu said as she released the Pidgeotto into the sky. The bird let out a caw as she circled around and stared down at the Golduck below her.
"That's not a water Pokemon," Marina objected loudly.
"I told you already, my Starmie was my only water Pokemon," Miharu shouted back. "You would've known that already had you been listening to me." She pushed her bangs out of her eyes and looked up at Aska. "Let's end this quickly," she said. "Hit him hard with an Aerial Ace!" Aska shrieked loudly and sped down towards the Golduck, her wings drawn in close to her sides. For a moment it looked as though she would hit the water, but at the last possible second Aska pulled up, the tips of her claws skimming the water's surface as she delivered a strong hit to the Duck Pokemon, causing him to stumble back a little on his rock perch.
"Fight back with a Water Pulse," Marina shouted. "Drown that land-lubber!" Golduck's forehead gem glimmered slightly before he brought his webbed hands together, and a ball of water formed between them. With a grunt he hurled it at the surface of the water in front of him, sending a cascade of water heading right for the Pidgeotto as she recovered from her previous attack.

"Ooh, you must think you're so clever," Mai grumbled as the redhead recalled his Ninetales, reducing the battle to a simple one on one, though she had to admit that he'd done much better than she thought he would. I still can't believe he took out the Raichu so quickly, she thought, looking over at her Glalie, who was currently face-down in the grass and by the looks of it, either too paralyzed to free herself or just plain stuck. "Celsius, get up and slam that Arbok with an Ice Beam," the admin growled, having been aware of the evil looks she'd been receiving from the aptly-named Loki.
The Glalie grumbled and tried to pull herself from the ground, a spark of icy-blue light appearing between her two black horns. It fizzled out a second or so later, as the immobile Ice-type succumbed to paralysis and could only lie there, face-down in the dew-soaked grass.

"Why yes, I do think I'm clever, thank you very much," came Keegan's instant retort, and he couldn't help but laugh as he watched the Glalie, well, not do anything. "Best Ice Beam ever," the redhead said sarcastically, looking up at Mai. "I'd like to know how you ended up a high-ranking member of Team Rocket with skills like that. Loki, Stockpile, again!"
Now aware of the fact that the pretty, but very mean lady had noticed his less-than-friendly looks, and he poked his tongue out of her, making a hissing noise that sounded much like laughter. "Loki," Keegan growled, putting a hand on his hip and glaring at the Arbok. The Cobra Pokemon snickered again before opening his mouth for another intake of air, his body seemingly expanding with the effort. And two... ===== "Aska, get out of there with a Quick Attack!" Miharu shouted, though Marina's last comment had confused her. Land-lubber? Did she not realized that Aska was a Pidgeotto, a flying type, and wasn't restricted to the ground in the slightest? Try as she might, Aska couldn't escape the oncoming Water Pulse fast enough and before she knew it, the Pidgeotto found herself completely drenched, and a little muddled, at that. We need to be faster, Miharu thought, glancing at the Golduck. "Aska, use Agility!"
The Pidgeotto let out a shrill screech and felt her muscles loosen, and she knew she'd now be capable of reaching higher speeds - hopefully giving her the edge over the obnoxious Golduck.
"Blast it outta the sky with an Ice Beam, Golduck!" Marina called. "Let's end this one!" Giving a salute, the Golduck jumped back up onto the rock and opened his beak, taking aim at the Pidgeotto with the frigid ray.

"I earned my rank by defeating insignificant cretins like you," Mai countered, very much annoyed with the redhead's sarcastic quipping by this point. The Arbok was also starting to piss her off, what with the way it kept looking at her. "Celsius, get up and use Icy Wind," she barked, pointing at the Glalie, still stuck face-down on the ground. Perhaps going with a less powerful move would permit the Glalie to actually free herself from the ground and attack.
Celsius grumbled loudly, managing to pull her heavy body up from the ground, leaving a comical Glalie-shaped indentation in the ground from where she'd began. Slowly she turned to face the Arbok, and she would have glared at him had her face not already been frozen in a permanent frown. She opened her mouth and exhaled, breathing out an incredibly chilly gust of frozen air at the larger-looking Arbok.

Crenu thought about her offer for a moment, sticking aroudn for some training might not be such a bad idea. He watched the short exchange between Erika and her trainer who had spoken up against her offer, which reminded him of his purpose. He was curious to see some of Erika's training habits and tricks, but that wouldn't be right. He intended on coming back for a rematch, and watching her train might put him at an advantage, he needed to get back to training his own way. Besides, he was starting to get a little to comfortable here and forming another connection with a person would simply be one more weakness to add to his own. Crenu stood up and bowed politely. "It's alright, it isn't my place to train here anyway. I'll have to decline your offer, I've my own agenda to keep and I can't do that here. Thank you for the tea Lady Erika, it was delicious." Crenu recalled Snorunt who was still stuffing her face with sweets and began to head for the exit. He paused for a moment, turning his head only slightly to glance back at Erika. "Don't falter in your training. I will come back for your badge and I don't want to obtain it in a boring match." With that he was off, remembering his way around the maze and ignoring all the other trainers in the gym.
-------------------
Crenu was sitting comfortably in the lobby of the Celadon pokemon center, waiting for his pokemon to be healed so he could leave. The more he thought about his recent loss, the more it bothered him. At first he had accepted it as inevitable, and while he still held that as truth what bothered him was that it seemed like he never stood a chance at winning. He knew he was still weak, but he had thought that he'd made at least a little progress on his journey as a trainer. Yet here he was flatly defeated by Erika so handily. Was he really still this pathetic and weak? The whole thing was incredibly frustrating and it was starting to get under his skin. Crenu took several deep breaths to calm himself, but his calm state of mind only lasted for so long. Damn it, he had forgotten about his 'friend'. He was sure to show up any moment, and as if summoned by some form of magic Crenu heard his name called out, a shiver ran up his spine as he turned and saw the shimmering purple cape that only he was bold enough to wear.
"Oh Shiro~! Aww, are you feeling down buddy? I saw the whole thing, so terrible! Poor little Poliwhirl got it the worst. Ah how cruel the heart can be no?" Ken had appeared, a sad sympathetic and clearly exaggerated expression on his face as he ran up to Crenu, taking a seat next to the gloomy blond young man. "You know you really had it coming. Your team really doesn't have many ways to deal with grass types. Poor Swinub is half ground type, oh but he did try his best no? Your cutie pie Snorunt could have been good though."
"If she weren't so weak I would have used her. I know she's still young, but she just doesn't seem to be getting as much out of her training as she should be. It may have something to do with her abandonment issues, but she just doesn't have that confidence I'm looking for in my pokemon, and until she gains that I don't think she'll ever truly get strong no matter how much we train. Wait, what do you mean you saw the whole thing? I don't remember seeing you in the gym. You don't exactly blend in you know." Crenu said with his eyes on that impossible cape of his, he simply didn't understand how he could try and pull something like that off. Just then Crenu turned his attention to Nurse Joy who was waving him over, his pokeballs sitting on a tray ready to be picked up.
Kenneth's eyes narrowed as a smirk crossed his mouth, he had gotten an idea. That's right, Crenu's Snorunt is a female...Confidence is what she needs. Hmm, I think I can help with that. Ken grinned as he watched Crenu get up to get his pokemon, taking a shiny odd looking stone that was turquoise in color from his bag and holding it in his hand. He looked back at Crenu who's back was still turned and quickly slipped it into his bag, sitting back innocently still grinning. "Heh heh heh, don't you know Shiro? I'm a master of disguise! I've got my ways, you'll never know when I'm around. Ah ha ha ha!" He laughed stupidly as he joked around, though there was truth to his statement.
Crenu turned to see Ken's foolishness, though the thought of him being anywhere without him knowing was a bit frightening. He eyes Kenneth, he was acting a little strange. But this guy was such a weirdo that one could never tell what he was thinking. As he walked back to the seat he picked up his bag and slung it over his shoulder, noticing that it was a little bit heavier but he didn't pay it any mind. He had sudden;y remembered something Ken had said earlier, which he might be able to use. "Ken, you said you were in Sinnoh for contests right? Can you tell me more about the whole contest process, I'm considering trying my hand at coordinating." He didn't wait for an answer though, as he walked out of the center once he clipped the balls onto his belt. He still had some training to do, but he needed supplies first so he headed for the Celadon department store.
Kenneth's face practically lit up when Crenu mentioned his interest in contests. "Oh Shiro that's fantaa~stic! I'll be happy to help you get started with..hey don't be so mean Shiro!" Ken got up and chased after Crenu, catching up to him in no time. "Ok well first you'll need to register. Oh and get yourself some nicer threads so you can make a good impression on the judges. But you're going to have to train and train and train because contests are so so so so soooo different from regular battles. And some pokeblock and.." Ken rambled on the entire way about contests, not even sure Crenu was really listening. Once they entered the department store however, Kenneth became silent as a very big smile appeared on his face. "Ah ha! I've got it! Oh this is gonna be soooo fun! Ok Shiro, you go on ahead and do your business here. I've got some of my own supplies to go buy." With that Kenneth was off, running off into the department store not to be seen again for a while.
"Right..." Never one to turn down a blessing like this, Crenu didn't hesitate to leave that area incase Ken decided to change his mind and follow him around. First thing was first, Crenu looked at the sign by the counter. Trainer wares were on the second floor. Crenu stepped into the elevator and rode it up, heading straight for the counter. "I need two Great Balls, one Ultra Ball, and a Hail TM. Now." He said plainly. He was down to his last pokeball and intended on catching only stronger pokemon from now on. The TM was for Snorunt of course, maybe a new move like that would come in handy and help her get over her mental block. He was tempted to get her Ice Beam, but he wanted some diversity in his teams attacks and figured he could get it for her later once he had more money. For now Hail would do as it worked with her ability and might be useful for contests. The clerk looked at him with distain, but nodded clearly holding back whatever was on his mind. He came back shortly with the goods and rang them up, Crenu simply nodded and gave him the money. "Took you long enough." Crenu grabbed his goods, tossing the pokeballs in one of the pockets in his bag and using the TM right away as he waited for the elevator. He pressed it to the pokeball and watched as it started to glow, the disk almost appearing to spin as it passed it knowledge onto Snorunt and crumbled into dust once it was done. But Crenu didn't ride the elevator down, instead he rode it all the way to the top getting off at the roof, having to climb one flight of stairs himself. But it was worth it, the view was nice and the breeze felt great. For the moment, Crenu was content.

A while had passed since Kenneth had run off to do his own shopping, and it seemed like he really gave the store a good run through. His bag was practically brimming with stuff, mostly fabrics, and looked like it weighed even more. Still , Kenneth carried on as if it didn't bother him one bit. He had a good idea where he could find his friend though now that he was done. "Up on the roof, really?" He said as he stepped through the roof door looking at Crenu who was leaning against the vending machines looking out at the city line. "Honestly, how cliche can you get? So, all done? I know I am. They have such a marvelous collection of stuff here, I got some absolutely wonderful fabric. Oh I'm gonna make such a nice outfit out of this for my next contest. Who knows, maybe I'll even make something for you." He said nudging Crenu lightly with his elbow as he walked up next to him.
Crenu kept looking out at the city, ignoring Ken's gesture. "No thanks. I don't need some shiny outfit that can signal a plane to help me win a contest. Play dress up on your own. Let's go. You need to tell me more about contests. And not a bunch of useless crap either." He said sternly as he began going down the stairs and into the elevator. Crenu didn't want to hang aroudn with Kenneth any longer than he had to, but he had to admit having someone around wasn't so bad. Of course he'd never say that out loud or even allow himself to think it. But it was there somewhere inside. Maybe it was just having someone to hate that made the difference. No one knew for sure.
Ken frowned a little and followed. "Oh ok. Well first there's the appeals. You get up in front of the judges with a pokemon of your choosing and do some appeals for them to show your skills. Obviously the better the act the more points you get and the better the chances of moving on to the next round. But it's more than just flash, do something to big and extravagant and you could draw attention away from your pokemon's beauty, and that's what this is all about right? The act doesn't have to be some grand show, just something that looks nice and shows that you and your pokemon are in sync with each other, it takes a lot of skill. Props are often used for the acts. Like for example, hitting targets or juggling with an attack, holding a ball steady with a whirlwind or something. Also, combination are popular and effective. Like say a bubble attack then an ice beam, freezing the bubbles in the air. That's pretty and difficult to do, because if done wrong the bubbles just pop, you know?"
By now the two had already exited the department store and were walking eastwards down Rout 7 towards Saffron. The sun was getting higher, it was almost noon. "Oh and if you get past appeals, then you go on to the contest battles. Contest battles are a real treat to watch! Two trainers battle it out with their pokemon, but it's not about knocking out the other pokemon really. You see each trainer is given a set number of points. If you're pokemon is hit with an opponents move, you lose points. If you fail to execute your move gracefully or miss, or if the opponent cancels or disrupts your move, then you also lose points. Like if you use a thunderbolt and they use like rock slide or something to block it perfectly. The object of this battle is to lower your opponent's points to zero, or as much as you can withing the time limit. Of course, scoring a knock out works too. But that's a lot harder in a contest battle than in a normal battle. Your pokemon's attacks still need to look graceful and appealing, so you've got to be creative at all times, not just during the appeals round. Even a graceful recovery like having your pokemon spin out of a dive or something and recover gracefully, maybe even using the opponents attack to make your pokemon look good even when it takes damage can stop you from losing as many points as you might have and even cost them points. That's hard to do of course, so I wouldn't go counting on that in the beginning. Then you just keep battling like that until you eliminate the other trainers and win!" Ken had to stop, he was getting tired from the explanation. It was a bit winded, but he quickly tried to nutshell contests for Crenu.
Crenu who had been listening intently the whole time just looked at his with a blank expression. "....hmm. Ok. Thanks." That was all he said, Ken had told him exactly what he asked for and he was grateful. Though he couldn't really show it. So those were pokemon contests. Appeals and battles, where making the pokemon shine with their strengths was key. The type of contest where quick thinking and analyzing the situation for the best possible outcome was the center...this he could do. He stopped, looking around just now noticing where they were. "Wait, where are we going exactly? I was suppose to go train."
"Oh, Saffron. But only so we can go down to Vermillion after. You said you wanted to try contests right? Well, I want to help. And what better place to get you started than so do it in a fresh new land! We can't make it back to Slateport for the ferry to Sinnoh since it leaves in an hour or so, but theres another one heading for Sinnoh from Vermillion that won't leave until tonight. So we can catch that one." He said, noting the annoyed look on Crenu's face. "Oh don't hate me Shiro, It'll be good for you I swear! new pokemon new land, a new challenge, oh don't you just love it? Is it not a man's romance to start a new journey in a new land!? It'll be fun, trust me! Look if you really wanna train that bad before we head to Vermillion then go knock aroudn those Spearow over there." Ken said with a pout as he pointed to a flock of Spearow that had gathered around an abandoned basket of what looked like day old bread. There were a few pidgey aroudn as well, but it looked like the Spearow had chased them off.
Crenu clenched his fists in anger, damn it ken had gone ahead and started making plans already like they were traveling partners or something. But he regained his calm status, the man did have a point. Maybe going to Sinnoh wasn't such a bad idea. Crenu looked over to the flock of Spearow, and decided to make the best of things. "Alright Pupitar, I know you were upset to not be included in that last gym battle. The way Poliwhirl acted I think throwing you in would have been much better. Take it out on these Spearow, who knows maybe we'll attract a Fearow and the fun can really start." Crenu smirked slightly, letting Pupitar out of his pokeball right in front of the flock. The entire family of Spearow turned at once, glaring back at Pupitar with a defiant angry look, almost daring the rock cocoon to make a move. At once, all of them swarmed Pupitar, pecking at him wildly. "Heh, weaklings. Pupitar, Sand Storm now, blow these poor excuses for birds away." Pupitar simply sat there in the dirt, seemingly unmoved by the flurry of pathetic attacks being thrown at him. He barely felt a thing, these must have been very low level Spearow. Pupitar's eyes started to glow as sand started to pour out of his body, even small rocks and such from the dirt he was on rose into the air and started swirling around him wildly. The sand storm whipped around and the sound of multiple Spearow cries and flapping wings could be heard from withing the vortex of sand. The Spearow clock flew away angrily, not wanting to feel the sting of the sand anymore and deciding to come back later. All Spearow except for one. Amidst the sand storm remained a single Spearow that had not taken flight, in fact it simply stood there on the ground being buffeted by the Sand Storm, a bold look in its eyes. This Spearow clearly wasn't like the rest of them, this one had some fight in it and wanted nothing more than to do so. "Tch, so this one thinks he's got the metal to tangle with you. Alright fine." But Crenu's eyes widened as he stared at the Spearow, it was kinda hard to see through the sandstorm so he signaled for Pupitar to stop it. Once the sand died down Crenu got a good look at the Spearow, and there was no doubt about it. It hadn't the normal brown colored feathers of it's brethren, but rather golden colored feathers and bright almost yellow wings! This was a rare Spearow indeed, Crenu simply had to have it! He grabbed his pokeball and threw it, but the Shiny Spearow simply batted it away and sent the ball rolling away uselessly into the grass. "Alright golden Spearow, if that's how you want to play it. I was hoping for a Fearow, but you'll do." Pupitar and the Spearow stared each other down, both ready for a fight.

Mitsu laughed as Kilik seemed so jubilant that Giovanni would not have him and her friends in his clutches in Sinnoh. She herself couldn't help but smile at the wishful thinking. She knew he had his ways and that he'd weasel himself into the unknown region soon enough, maybe at the same time that they'd take their own maiden voyage. Perhaps they'd be lucky enough to not see him for a few months or so as they had an adventure there. She could only wish.
After spearing another piece of scrambled eggs Mitsu popped it into her mouth, chewing slowly before taking a large bite of the biscuit. It was gone after another three or four bites along with the eggs. She was oddly hungry and the food disappeared so quickly off her plate that she could swear that it was some practical joke made by her mischievous Karri. At least she had a bowl of strawberries left. She made a mental note to give a big bowl of the juicy red fruit to Ivy. He deserved it after winning that match earlier this morning.
The purple headed girl gave Kasiya a quick wave to flag her over to their table as well following Kilik's sharp whistle. "It'll be an adventure, that's for sure. I hope the boat ride isn't long," she said answering Kasiya's question before taking another bite of her strawberries, a bit of the whipped cream catching on her lips.

In the time that it took Kasiya to make it over to their table, Kilik had already devoured another banana and chugged his entire bottle of chocolate milk. He slammed the empty bottle on his tray in victory, and laughed. "Oh, definitely!" he said, looking at the blond girl. "Once I get on that boat, it's all smooth sailing for me. That new adventure waiting for me just sends chills down my spine." Kilik looked over at Mitsu. "Hon, you got a little...uh..." he leaned over the table and wiped away the whipped cream with his thumb. He sat back down and cleared his throat. "Yep, I say it's good-bye, Hoenn! Good-bye, Johto! And..." he paused for a second. He couldn't exactly say good-bye to Kanto. He had a lot of promises in Kanto. For instance, he promised to return to Koga when he felt that his training had been complete, when he finally felt that he had truly become 'one with his Pokemon'.
Or the promise he made to Kasiya's dad, Lt. Surge. As big and frightening as the man was, Kilik had to admit that Surge had a heart of gold. He was like a big teddy bear that would snap your neck if he hugged you too hard. Despite defeating him in a battle that was what felt like forever ago, Lt. Surge and Kilik reconciled and decided that a rematch would be in order in the future. And not just a Gym Rematch - a full-out battle with their strongest Pokemon. Kilik got chills just thinking about it. He couldn't go out on his promise with Surge.
And then there was Giovanni. He had felt that no matter how far away he was from Kanto, Giovanni was going to be there. The only way to get rid of him was to prove that he was stronger. He didn't care about getting a badge. He didn't care about that at all. No, he wanted to defeat Giovanni for personal reasons. He wanted to take Giovanni down and make him pay for the crimes he's committed, once and for all. His hand tensed on the empty plastic bottle and he could feel it crumbling beneath his palm. He quickly let it go.
"Well, I guess I can't say good-bye to...well, any of these places. Who knows what might happen that would call me back to Hoenn? Or something amazing could happen in Johto that I would beg to go be a part of. Regardless!" Kilik said, back to his chipper mood, "Sinnoh's a big place, I'd-a reckon and I'll be darned if we don't have a great time!"

"Loki, hold your ground, and Stockpile again!" Keegan shouted as the icy blast hit them both, and he shivered, drawing his jacket tighter around his shoulders. He had to admit that if Loki's Glare hadn't worked right off the get-go this match would have been much, much harder. "I-Icy Wind the best you can do?" he jeered.
Loki meanwhile, had hunkered down as the Icy Wind coursed over him, and he felt it chill him to the very core. He suddenly wanted nothing more than to burrow his way into the nice, war ground and sleep - after all, the cold always made him feel sleepy. He shrugged off the urge for now and took in another gulp of air, his body billowing out around him for a third time. That makes three, Keegan though, still trying to shrug off the chill he felt. ===== "You can dodge that easily, Aska!" Miharu called. "And hit 'em with your Aerial Ace again!" She clenched a fist, her confidence picking up again. That Golduck was tough, but so were her Pokemon. Aska, though still confused, could hear the urgency in her trainer's voice and she didn't like the sound of the attack that had been called out. Her head was spinning as well, and though it wasn't a brilliant idea, the poor, confused Pidgeotto shut her eyes as she attempted to veer out of the way of the oncoming Ice Beam. Needless to say, her vision and her timing were off and she wasn't able to avoid it, and let out a fearful shriek as the frigid ray made full contact with her left wing, quickly decorating it with a thick layer of solid ice. Suddenly Aska found herself unable to fly and she spiraled down, landing in the water with a loud splash. "Oh no, Aska, try to fly away!" Miharu cried fearfully, though she knew that the Pidgeotto would be unable to.
"Now finish it with a Psychic attack," Marina stated triumphantly. "And then it's just a matter of time before we knock out your last Pokemon, too!" The Golduck's eyes never betrayed it's confident smirk even once as he raised his hand, appearing to salute as the signature flash of blue indicated that he'd activated his psychic powers. He thrust his hand forward, and it was as though a small, invisible boat was cutting quickly through the waves, kicking up a massive spray of water as it traveled across the watery battlefield.

Riza set Eris on the ground, though right away the Cyndaquil turned around and hopped a bit, obviously not wanting to be put down yet. "No, no, it's time for training," Riza told her, trying to shake off the young fire-type as again she was clinging to Riza's leg. She looked up, noticing that Jaeshan had let out two of his Pokemon, neither of which she remembered seeing with him the other day. 'What happened to that fiery-chicken-thing he had?' she wondered idly, 'or that beautiful Butterfree?'
She finally pried Eris off her and shooed the fire mouse forward. "Okay Eris, see that Weedle? I want you to use tackle on it, okay?" Eris glanced over at the bug, and squeaked. Why did she have to attack it? Couldn't they just be friends? Eris looked up over her shoulder at Riza, who nodded. "Well, go already!" Eris pouted a little but finally started to move forward, though it couldn't really be called anything but a half-hearted jog. When she got closer to Weedle she slowed right down before lazily trying to bump her head into him. * * * * * Katie didn't even have to tell Genki to dodge the attack as the playful Pokemon simply laughed and did a handspring to get out of the way. The poisoned needles came nowhere near him and it was easy to see that this only helped to further the effects of the previous taunt on the Roselia. "Now get in there and use mach punch!" Katie called, punching the air with her own fist.
In a split second Genki went from playful to utterly serious, and he quickly moved in, dodging another spray of needles with a deft feint to the side before coming back with a quick right uppercut to the grass and poison-type's chin. It wasn't overly damaging due to the type match up but the flowery Pokemon sure went flying as a result, landing with a heavy thud some ten feet away. 'Here we go,' Katie thought as she let the red and white sphere fly at the Roselia, which was just getting to her feet again. She saw the ball coming at her at the last second batted it away with one of her rose hands, and it sliced through the air before making heavy impact with a tree, breaking into at least half a dozen pieces.
"Okay, clearly not weak enough yet," Katie observed with a slight chuckle, though the Roselia's tenacity only made her want to capture it that much more. "Genki, let her have it again!"

Kasiya smiled a bit as Kilik wiped away a bit of stray whipped cream from Mitsu's lips, and she looked away, pretending to be interested in what her Pokemon were doing. Nova had since fallen asleep, and Kasiya recalled her, as well as everyone but Flash. The Jolteon, like everyone else, had finished his breakfast, but he had padded over to his trainer's side, effortlessly jumping up on the seat next to her. He studied Mitsu and Kilik for a moment or two before his gaze fell upon the untouched bowl of fruit Kasiya had selected for herself. "Here you go, Flash," the girl smiled, holding out a juicy piece of watermelon for the Jolteon. He sniffed it cautiously before accepting it, excited bits of static electricity crackling over his body for a moment.
Kasiya looked over at Kilik and nodded. "Yeah, I can't very well just forget about Kanto either," she said, nibbling thoughtfully on the edge of one of her waffles. "I've still got two badges left to win, I can't very well just forget about them!" And then there were her parents. She couldn't leave them in Kanto forever. Like Kilik, she still owed her dad a rematch as well, one to make up for that humiliating loss he'd dealt her when Hiro had been injured. Besides that, she had too many friends in Kanto, and it was her home region, and she knew she'd be back one day. She didn't really know what Sinnoh had in store for her or her friends, but she knew it would be exciting. New places to explore, new Pokemon, what about that wasn't appealing?
The door to the cafeteria swung open just then, and Kasiya looked over expectantly, unable to mask her disappointment when she saw that it was just a couple of trainers she didn't recognize. I thought for sure he'd be here by now, the girl thought sadly. Where is he?
=-=-=-=-= Weedle, unlike Eris, was ready for a bit of training, and the moment the command was issued he got into a defensive stance. However, when he saw the Cyndaquil's reluctance he huffed, hardly even moving when the "Tackle" connected. The Hairy Bug let out a bit of a growl, though it sounded more like an angry squeak. Fine, if she needed a bit of motivation, then he'd give it to her! Weedle's body stiffened right up and he began to spit out a thick string of silk, though he didn't aim it at Eris. Instead, it began to coil around his body, which had started to emit an intense, white glow.
"Weedle? What are you...?" Jaeshan started to ask, but stopped in mid-sentence. There was no need to finish, as he already knew what was happening. He's evolving... already? the blonde thought, scratching his chin. That was fast, he must have been a little more experienced than I thought he did. When the light faded, a sturdy-looking Kakuna rested in Weedle's place, his hard shell shining in the sunlight as he quickly made use of Harden to strengthen his defenses. "Heh, Kakuna, all right!" Jaeshan laughed, pushing his hair out of his eyes. He looked across the lot at Riza, and shrugged. "That was surprising; I didn't realize he was ready to evolve already."
=-=-=-=-= Mai growled slightly when she saw the third Stockpile take effect, and it didn't take a Pokemon genius to figure out what was going to happen next. "You want something a little stronger, Sweetie?" she patronized, glaring at the redhead for the umpteenth time in only a few minutes. "Fine, we'll give you something stronger. Celsius, Ice Beam, now!" she commanded sharply, jabbing a finger at the obnoxious Arbok.
The Glalie let out a low growl, her ever-frozen frown fixed on Loki as well. An orb of icy energy began to form at the central point between her two jet-black horns, and even while struggling to keep the painful paralysis at bay she loosed the icy ray at the Cobra Pokemon, hoping this battle wouldn't last much longer.

Keegan's eyes went wide when he saw that the Glalie was able to fire off an Ice Beam. "Loki, don't just sit there, get out of the way!" he shouted. Loki, already significantly slowed by the Glalie's previous Icy Wind did the best he could to slither out of the way, though the added bulk thanks to to the three previous Stockpiles didn't help much either. The Ice Beam smashed into his side with a shattering sound, sending ice crystals flaking off in every direction. The Arbok faltered, his body now shaking from the sheer cold, but he continued to hang on, slowly raising his head to glare at both Mai and her horrible, evil, ice-spewing Glalie.
Okay, now I can either have Loki use Swallow and risk that thing being able to shrug off paralysis and attack again, or he can use Spit Up and try to take the thing down with one shot... Keegan thought, rubbing his temples with his thumb and index finger. Either way I can still boast holding my own against Mai, even if it was under abnormal circumstances. He grinned at this, and pointed at the Glalie. "Loki, Spit Up!" he commanded sharply, hoping that the extra authority in his voice would give the Arbok a clue about how serious this was. Surprisingly enough, Loki had gotten angry enough to comply without question or so much as a hiss, and with icy patches still clinging to his scaly body he shot forward, opening his mouth and loosed a tremendous blast of energy at the Glalie. How's that for a last hurrah, Keegan thought with a slight smirk. ===== The Psychic attack hit Aska with such force that the Pidgeotto was blown clear out of the water, her body twisting in awkward ways before she slammed down on the wooden planks next to Miharu, who could only look at the fallen Pokemon in awe. This is bad, she thought, kneeling down and gently stroking the bird's soft feathers. "You did well," she said quietly, recalling Aska into her Pokeball. She stood up, feeling the anger building up inside her as she looked back at Marina and her equally cocky Golduck. Okay, while logically Lily would be the best choice against a water type, it's Psychic and Ice Beam attacks would probably make short work of her, since both are super-effective. Sparkle and Petunia couldn't handle it either, so that only leaves...
The small girl took a deep breath as she selected her last Pokeball and threw it, revealing her quirky-natured Metang, Tingle. "Take Down!" Miharu shouted, pointing at the Golduck forcefully. Tingle, sensing that Miharu was upset and wasn't kidding around, quickly turned it's gaze to the intended target. The Metang wore an uncharacteristic, serious expression as it zipped forward like a rocket, fully intending to put the hurt on the Golduck.
"What is that!?" cried Marina as the Metang shot towards her Golduck. "Block it with a Psychic!" the blue-haired girl shrieked. The Golduck seemed just as surprised and it quickly raised his hand in order to try and form a psychic shield, but Tingle, being highly resistant to psychic type attacks pushed right through it, knocking the Golduck clear off his perch, and he went tumbling head-first into the water.

"Why that persistent, arrogant little-" the rest of Mai's sentence was drowned out by the loud blast of energy that occurred next, and Mai was already holding up Celsius' Pokeball to recall her once the light died down, but to her surprise the Glalie was still standing - err, floating there, looking just as weak as the Arbok did. Okay, that's surprising, Mai thought, studying both Pokemon carefully. One more hit from either side and it would be over, but Mai didn't even know for sure if Celsius would be able to attack again. However, the admin smiled darkly as an idea came to mind. Surely had she been in her right (sober) mind she would never have used such a drastic tactic. "Celsius..." she said quietly, closing her eyes and lowering her head, "...Explosion."
The Glalie grit her teeth and slowly hovered forward, her frozen, solid body already feeling worse for wear. It would sure be nice to relax after the battle was over. Celsius narrowed her eyes as her body began to glow with a white hot, and quite uncomfortable light until it peaked, and the Glalie detonated with tremendous force.

Mai's next (and) last order was uttered so quietly that Keegan hardly heard her at all, and it wasn't until the Glalie was floating towards Loki, emanating a bright, white light that he realized what was going on. "Yeaaaghh, no! Loki quick, dive underground!" he shouted, but there was no time for the exhausted Arbok to even blink an eye. Keegan could only watch helplessly as the Glalie detonated before him, the force of the explosion sending him flying backwards, landing hard on his back. The wind was knocked out of him and he gasped for breath as he tried to sit back up. When he was finally able to pull himself into a sitting position, the first thing he noticed was the giant crater and the unconscious Glalie sitting in it's center. The second thing he noticed was that Loki was nowhere to be seen. "Hey..." he asked, looking over in Mai's direction suspiciously. "Where the hell is my Arbok?" he demanded, wondering if perhaps the cobra had managed to get underground in time after all.
The question would be answered momentarily, as only a few seconds later Keegan heard a rustling sound from above him. He didn't have time to look up as suddenly the tree branch Loki had landed in gave out under the Arbok's weight and came crashing to the ground. The branch itself narrowly missed the redhead by inches, but Loki, sure enough, landed directly on him, once again knocking the wind out of him. A string of muffled curse-words escaped the redhead's mouth as he pushed the unconscious Arbok off him. "That was... something else," he muttered, putting the cobra back into his Pokeball. Wincing, he stood up, only now realizing that his rented tux was in bad condition. There were large rips in it, as well as gaping holes, and he could only guess as to what was holding it together. "s**t, there goes my deposit," he muttered, glaring over at Mai, who'd been thrown to the ground by the explosion as well, and he uttered a low growl before striding over to her. "Hey b***h, you're gonna pay for this, right?" he challenged.
