Raedue sighed in near dissapointment that the blue had impressed someone other than him. But it was alright. If it was meant to be for him it would happen. He was very glad though, that this set of dragonets were much calmer than their prviously hatched siblings.

Firyal had not had high hopes for Impressing either the deeply blue dragonet or his spotted sister. After all, the blue had clearly been more interested in the male Candidates and only suffering his sister's interest in the females to humor her. And it seemed to Firyal that if the green was going to choose her, she might have done so on either the first or second time she inspected her. She did not know that Hwinth had known from the start that she would Impress to Ferris. Had no way of knowing. Still, Ferris had been inspected just as closely as Firyal had been, it seemed, and Firyal couldn't help feeling that she had for some reason been found wanting. She told herself not to think about it until after the Hatching.

Instead of succumbing to the first personal rejection of the day - she didn't really count the gold's behavior as anything except the actions of a child who lacked discipline, and lacking in personal rancor - Firyal allowed herself to be distracted by the pain of the cuts that marked her arms and torso. The numbweed had done its work well, but that had been when she'd been running on adrenaline and perhaps in a mild state of shock. She had recovered from both enough that hints of pain were seeping through the numbweed. She focused on her physical discomfort to distract herself from the thoughts which would only depress her. She didn't want to repel the dragonet that might be hers with the negativity of her thoughts.

As the crowd breathed a collective sigh of relief and applauded, it seemed another impression had been made. Sure enough, the quiet green had found hers... quietly, and Canth responded at last with quiet applause of her own. Not a lot-- just a few claps, but she thought it was perhaps time to at least show a BIT of enthusiasm.

Sort of...

Aaand sure enough, the two new pairs, like all their brethren, would sidle over to take care of all the warbling dragon stomachs, bond, socialize, and rejoice in their new lifelong kinship. That idea was certainly much closer to what she'd been told than the first two hatchlings, and all the maulings, and the still-faint smell of blood in the sand...

How many more eggs? She was having trouble counting amongst the shifting of heads and murmuring of bodies. A good few at least... more than had hatched, and it was anyone's guess what would pop out next.

Kiera clasped her hands lightly together in a sort of silent admiration. The people who were being Impressed must be happy, surprised even. As always, Kiera watched and hoped, staring at the remaining Eggs, sending out her thoughts, and hoping one of them registered. It was becoming less and less likely for her to Impress now.

But like all the remaining Candidates, she would stand and watch, and wait.

Merik clapped for the Green, if a little less enthusiastically than when he first started. He didn't want maulings, but the Hatching had calmed down considerably, and the night candlemarks were starting to wear on his excitement. He wasn't tired, just... not exceptionally bubbly.
The Blue was gorgeous, and his sister was pretty in her own way. They'd make fine Dragons, without a doubt. Neither's looks had even passed over him, but he wasn't as disheartened as he'd been when the first Brown wholly ignored his presence. He was good enough, surely? These Hatchlings were just meant for others, and it was important above all else that they were the ones who were happy. Besides, he had three more Turns to go at this. It was a time of celebration, not self-pity. Just look at those lovely new pairs!

"You should have seen the green," Uuni whispered as she felt someone make contact with her. It didn't take dolphin specialist to know that it was Kess.

"She stopped in front of, I think it must have been every single girl. Quiet and mellow. You know who she picked was the right one for her." It was such a nice change from the angry, ferocious creatures of earlier.

If there was any luck on the sands tonight, the rest of the dragons would be just as mellow. If Uuni knew anything about herself and luck, however, it was that hers was poor. There was always a rare chance, however.

"How's your arm?" Her voice felt so out of place. Stifling a yawn, her eyes went to the eggs and watched for anything that might hatch. It was nice that it was cool, but it was getting late, even for her.

Ollen found it hard to believe that the last two to impress seemed so calm compared to the three before. Curiously she peered over at the newly impressed pairs and wondered their names. She wasn't upset or outraged, or even a little disappointed that a dragon had not so much as looked her way. They were looking for theirs, if she was not for them she could not be angry.

She rocked on her heels looking over at the remaining eggs, would it be nice if Hers was in there? Absolutely, if not..well Ollen sort of went with the wind about this one. She was so nervous and all the words of encouragement she'd received from friends and family were anchoring her in an indifferent state.

Oh dear, were the 'theirs' of that pair friends of some sort? Now Alanna found herself in the most awkward of all of her situations: She didn't have any such friends to stand with out herself... what made her think she was ready to impress when she couldn't even make a friend out there?

Oh Faranth! There went those self-doubts she had a bad tendency of having... but goodness, she could just sense the connections between the new riders and 'theirs'.. just...
...
...
Was it posture? Alanna was trying to take everything in (as there were no distractions for her at the time), while keeping her arms folded across her chest like something in her wasn't even concerned about it... like she was one of those who would be too 'disappointed' to impress on anything else besides the Queen that had left with Rinfala.

...
....

But secretly, all of these dragonets were making her anxious... how many times would she stand out there after this.

Well, now M’al really had experienced all the joys of a Hatching. Sort of, anyway. He hadn’t thought that Impressing would be this insistent.

I am still hungry, Mine, Redhath reminded M’al, as if there was a chance he might have forgotten. And I will not let those bigger hatchlings boss me around just because I am blue! They are taking up all the best cuts, Mine! We must plan to get them back…

“Um. Redhath? Sweetheart? I don’t think you’d WANT those cutlets back…” M’al murmured to his new bonded, still not completely comfortable with the whole ‘speaking in his mind’ thing.

The Blue was not happy anyway. He was very hungry and this was taking too long. He stared imperiously at the little queen, idly considering her. There were plans to make, important ones… Mine, I wish to speak to her! Go speak to hers. True to his own word, the graceful Blue sat next to the Queen, still occasionally looking over at her.

“Oh… ok…” The new Weyrling wasn’t certain what Redhath was thinking, but he’d been planning on talking to Rin anyway. With a bright smile, he started to cut up some meat into smaller, more manageable bits for Red. “So… Weyrlings now, huh?” he said weakly, wishing that his mind was more up to this.

Merase let out a breath she hadn't known she'd been holding when both blue and green settled near their respective humans. Finally a calm impression! She applauded along with those others in the stands, and began to smile again. Maybe, just maybe, things would be alright. The hatching was calm, no one had been hurt this time...

A little ways away L'an was busy chattering with Alcherath over the beautiful blue and green siblings. It had been an exciting clutch, and it was nice that the dragonets that didn't make a show were even more beautiful than those that had. The little green...I like her. She is smart. the larger green noted, making L'an laugh. "Is she now? How do you know?"

I just know, you know.

Velrun too was pleased with how things went. It was reassuring to see not all the dragons had been negatively altered by the lack of human contact at the correct time. Would the egg that had been touched fare so well, he began to wonder?

Veyes glanced over at Firyal across the way and could tell she was rather disappointed. He tried to catch her eye and express some sort of comfort from the distance he was at; however, she was looking at her wounds. Inside he could imagine her pain at this time and it probably wasn't the physical ones that hurt the most.

He had to wonder after all the hatchings he had been to if he'd ever go though a smooth one...one where bad luck didn't seem to lurk around every corner. While so far he had been lucky enough to stay out of harms way, his friends had taken a beating. However, he doubted Mal really cared about those injuries now.

Sighing he turned his eyes back on the eggs and shifted his feet in the sands. They had become just slightly numb from standing so tense that he had to shake them out and loosen up before the next egg popped open. While several times his dreams wanted him to wander and envision dragons in the egg, he worried that the distraction might get him injured so he tried to remain focused.

Luckily, Miah didn't have the same kind of opinion of herself. Though she may not Impress, as Balin probably hoped, she knew she would go on to live a completely normal and happy life. And she would, no doubt, make some man very happy when he saw that her way of life was the best and he conformed to it. The fact that Balin did not see this in her future was understandable. He was a silly teenage boy who had not had the benefits of being raised by Miah's mother. Of course he wouldn't understand her.

She gawked at him when he suggested that she "stay here", but managed to regain her composure. There was no way she was waiting here like a good little... well, she just wasn't going to stay here okay! If he was going to find Bachi then she was coming too! "No. If you're going I'm going too. We'll find Bachi together." But only because it was too dangerous to go alone.

Ah, excellent, she is settled now.

Toronth's calm words in his head made Weylin glance over at the new pair, and he almost swore when he realized who it was that had just been attached to the new Green. "Ferris!" he gasped, more in astonishment than anything else, and he immediately made a move toward the newly-made greenrider.

Weylinmine.

"I need to shorten it now, Toronth. W'in."

W'inmine, come. You will feed me, and they can meet us there. Really, things in their time. And without another word, coupled with a mental push that indicated firmly how he would not be moved on the matter, Toronth started off the Sands.

"...all right, Toronth."

Dorinelic had been on time for once. He had woken up in time, dressed on time, and arrived, surprisingly early. Thus, he had waited along the back wall, almost a bit sleepy. Almost. The sands seemed quite warm on his feet, and, he found it oddly relaxing. He missed a bit of the action, dreaming off in his own world, (mainly, thinking of what he might be able to craft later that week). He hadn't quite recognized any of the new riders. Oh well, he was content in the back, thinking of designs.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Natarsio was giddy. He always got giddy at hatchings. So far, he'd clapped and cheered and whatnot....but then...He looked at his feet. Ew ew EW! Covered in sand and dirt and ugh! He'd need to wash the robe twice to get the smudges out! Oh, bending down, he bumped into a few other candidates while trying to brush away some of the sand. It just got everywhere! Looking up, he noticed Li-WEYlin and a blue! Oh! So cute! Natarsio smiled at his and waved. Oh but what did he shorten his name too? We'n? W'in? Win? Oh if that was the case...Natarsio grinned at the feminine man. He'd be a Winny now.
"I watched her as I walked." Kess hadn't thought they'd be a pairing, although the green was as breathtaking as her blue brother. Hesitating a moment before answered the question about her arm, she raised her brows, looking to the eggs.
"I've some numbweed on it." Getting a bit antsy again, the blonde rose up briefly on the pads of her feet before setting back down. "These hatchings get wilder and wilder."
Everyone had thought the last one had been intense! Hah! Rin would probably laugh later when she saw Kess's arm. After all, if one of the pair wasn't hurt or in some kind of trouble, it was the other.
