It made sense Cindy thought grimly, after all death was one of those things one should never mess with. It was a force of nature that was as natural as the seasons, even if the death was a violent one.

However the thought one could take in death itself was a frightening thought.

"There are.. some things we're not meant to intervene with..." she murmured, "But that certianly explains better in a way what an empath does."

Thank goodness Gaian empaths were confined to emotion sensing, anyone born like that it would be terrfying.

"And I hope that it shows you how important it is to teach Rhea not only how to control it, but when to use it," Aragost said softly. "As you have already observed on your own, she is eager to help as many people as she can ... no matter the cost to her own person. Part of what you must do is show her how important she is, how important her own well-being is, and that while it is good to help others, sometimes it is more important to keep healthy herself, and let another die."

He looked at the floor. "I know ... it sounds callous, to say it like that ... but it is true ... she has the ability to help many ... but to throw away her own life for the sake of one ... would be worthless ... it is necessary sometimes to sacrifice one ... to save many ..."

He trailed off, his voice filled with sorrow.

It wans't as callous as he thought, though it could be Cindy realized that she was far too attached to Rhea to see the girl die, because she wanted to save the life of another. Though... it also seem he understood that in a way, that she wasn't aware of.

"I understand what you mean though," Cindy murmured, "It'll be a difficult lesson, but it is one that will get done."

Aragost nodded, silent once more.

"Is ... there anything else you would like to know?" he asked her softly. "Any other questions that you have?"

He wasn't growing impatient, was in no hurry to leave, but that was the first lesson that Rhea needed to learn, and it was the most important one that she could learn. There really was no point in going any further until that had been done.

Cindy thought about it, at the moment until something else cropped up she couldn't think about what else. She knew sort of what to expect, and where to start, what was important.

"No.... I can't think of anything else that ocmes to mind," she finally replied.

Aragost nodded and rose to his feet.

"Then I bid you farewell," he murmured, "and may all the blessings of the Valar be upon you ... I will return in one week's time."

And without waiting for a reply, or saying why he would return or what he was going to do during that week, he was gone - not through the door, he simply vanished into thin air and was no longer present.

Cindy stared at the spot that Aragost had once been and shook her head. That had been the most bizarre meeting she had ever been in, she had decided. Getting up from her seat, she decided that since Rhea was in lessons, she would eat first, it was just all too much for one morning.

A little over an hour later, Rhea emerged from the study looking slightly tired, still in her night dress.

"I don't like doing lessons in the morning," she murmured to no one in particular, heading towards the stairs.

As she headed up to her room to change, Shael limped towards the kitchen. She would need to start lunch ... and she was eager to find out what Cindy had learned from Aragost. She expected Cindy would be upstairs, but who knew?

Cindy was at her desk writing some notes down, making notes in one of the books that she took wtih her of things she could do. She sighed a bit thinking a bit more and writing a bit more.

She had been in her room since she finished eating breakfast.

Rhea was just skittering towards her bedroom to get dressed when she heard a sigh from Cindy's room, and her curiosity got the better of her. She slunk over to Cindy's door and put her ear against it, listening to see what her teacher was up to.

So far ... nothing but the scribble of a quill.

Once she was sure she had everything Cindy stopped writing and closed her book. Getting up from her seat she stretched, how long had she been here writing anyhow?

She looked out the window, she still was adept at telling time by sun position so gave up. Deciding seeing what everyone else was doing in the house would give her a better idea.

Rhea heard the chair scrape backwards and footsteps approaching the door, and she scrambled away from the door, her feet slipping slightly on the hardwood floor. She couldn't help but giggle as she scampered towards her own bedroom, though she paused at the doorway and looked over her shoulder to see if Cindy was going to be coming out.

Cindy could have sworn she heard a child giggle, and checking out the window she supposed it could be possible that Rhea was out of her lessons for today. Curious, she pattered over to the door, and opened it peeking out and looking down both ends of the hallway.

Rhea saw Cindy's door open, and her eyes grew bright with excitement. She turned around and clasped her hands innocently behind her back, watching Cindy from her doorway.

"Did you have a good talk with Aragost?" she asked cheerfully. "Did he tell you all about me?"

She frowned softly. "I don't know how he knows all that stuff about me, he never even met me before today."

Cindy giggled a bit at that, "Well not everything, but he told me many things."

She decided that was for Rhea to know eventually, but not now. They would take that one step at a time.

"And as my little sister and my niece would say, Aragost is Aragost, that is just the way he is."
