"Then I'll see you in a few minutes," Carlos said with another nod, then leaned up to kiss Adrian before heading off down the street toward his home.

Adrian returned the kiss and watched Carlos walk towards his house. He sat down on the curb to wait for the unicat, since he didn't feel like standing anymore.
((The medic that helped them after the incident or Jimi!))

Asalind was heading home from the library after a day spent in research. He carried with him a sack with his dinner in it as he slipped down the sun-warmed sidewalk. As he neared home, he took note of someone sitting on the curb, though it was not until he was much closer that he recognized Adrian. "I remember you," he remarked softly. He kept his distance, the concrete making a faint scraping sound against his scacles as he shifted his weight.

Back home, Jimi was on his way out as Carlos was coming up the walkway. He gave his son a hug and pulled back a little with a smirk. "Been out and about, eh? You don't smell like the junkyard."
"No, I wasn't there today." Carlos shook his head and smiled.
"Well you definitely look happy, wherever you were. Good. I hate it when you mope around."
Carlos played with an ear but he was definitely grinning. "I know. I'm very happy. You headed out?"
"Yeah, I'll be back later tonight. See you later."
"Bye, Dad." Carlos watched as Jimi took off. He was headed off in Adrian's direction, but at least he was driving. Maybe he wouldn't notice, or maybe he'd just let it slide. He sighed and climbed in his car.

Adrian looked up quickly and saw it was the guy that was a medic or something like that. "I remember you too," he said, unemotionally. He didn't feel like talking to anyone right now and the point of him waiting here was to avoid running into Carlos's housemates. Look at how well that work. He spotted car lights heading this way and thought it might be Carlos, so the rat stood up, not knowing that the person driving was actually Jimi.

Adrian's reaction was a little surprising; the naga frowned. He knew whom the rat was but he did not know that Carlos was here with him. His presence was worrisome. Asalind was struggling with whether to speak or not, and what to say if he did, when he saw headlights approaching. He hissed softly at the brightness in comparison to the surrounding dark, and shielded his eyes. He recognized the car, though the unicorn usually drove a motorcycle. "Jimi."
The vehicle came to a stop. Jimi poked his head out of the window, nodding first at Asalind, then glaring at Adrian. "What the hell are you doing here? I take it that's where Carlos was."
Asalind nodded back to Jimi and hesitated. Was he going to need to stick around for purely medical reasons? He slithered off to the side, watching warily, but noting that the unicorn had stayed in the car for now.

Adrian stood there awkwardly with the medic guy. He wasn't going to say anything since he had nothing to say. The rat watched as the car got closer.
He stiffened and glared back when he saw it was Jimi, not Carlos. This wasn't going to be pretty. "Yes, he was with me. He came to my house earlier and he didn't leave."

"Asalind, you don't need to stick around."
The naga had shrunk back into the shadows, seeming to melt into them as moved with practiced slowness. He nodded and slipped away, heading back home with a sigh.
Jimi turned back to Adrian. "Well, that's Carlos for ya. I figure you haven't forgotten what we talked about last month. So if you treat him right we're not going to have any problems."

Adrian watched as the medic guy left and turned back to Jimi. "No, I haven't forgotten. And I plan on treating him a hell of a lot better than I had before. And so far, I've been doing okay, except for a few slip ups, but I haven't injured him since then."

"Slip ups, huh?" Jimi narrowed his eyes at the rat, as if contemplating tearing him limb-from-limb just for looking cross-eyed at Carlos.
Perhaps it was a good thing that the unicat chose that moment to drive up in his Mustang, coming to a stop behind Jimi. No sense in creating a potential traffic jam. He had been unsure whether to barge in or not, but decided it would be best to back up Adrian if needed. "Everything all right?" he asked, looking almost eerily like his father as he rolled down his window and leaned out.
"Nah. I think we have an understanding." Jimi nodded to Adrian and looked back at Carlos. "Have fun," he called back to him before rolling his window back up and driving off.
Carlos pulled up and put it in Park, watching Adrian uncertainly.

"I didn't injure him. Just a shouting match happened." The rat glared at Jimi again. He dropped the glare and settled for frowning at the unicorn when Carlos pulled up. "Yeah, nothing to worry about." Adrian opened the car door and slide into the passenger seat after Jimi left. "Drive where ever you want to."

Carlos watched Adrian uncertainly as the rat climbed in beside him, having noticed him glaring at Jimi. Inwardly Carlos sighed and shrugged; at least they weren't at each other's throats (literally). He put the car into gear and drove off, without any destination in mind. Just driving.
As they pulled away, he saw a flash of green eyes then saw Asalind's silhouette, retreating back toward home, in his rear view mirror. Had he been there with Adrian and Jimi? He had heard that Adrian had refused treatment from the naga when Horea injured him, but had not heard why. He had assumed that it was just Adrian being Adrian, but it made sense if Adrian was afraid of him to some extent. Carlos glanced at Adrian. "I think I saw our medic on the sidewalk. Was he there with you, too?"

Adrian nodded. "Yeah, he was there. He showed up first then Jimi showed up not long afterwards. The medic guy hung around, probably, because he thought something was going to happen. Nothing did. I didn't want to get into a fist fight with your father." The rat knew that if that ever did happen 1) Jimi would kick his a**, and 2) Carlos would be really upset.

"Oh, okay." Asalind was a conscientious individual. He was always looking out for people, even though most people were terrified of him because of what he was. Carlos was glad that he had been there; if a fight had occurred, Asalind probably could stop them whereas Carlos had already been proven to be almost useless that way. He did not know what had been said, but the unicat knew that neither Adrian nor Jimi really wanted that fight. At the same time, they were both ready for it.
Carlos really wasn't sure if coming home tonight had been a mistake or not, but at least that part was over and they were on the road. He just continued to drive for long moments, hoping Adrian was not too upset.

"Yeah." Adrian leaned back in the seat and looked out the window. He sat quietly watching the outside go by as Carlos drove somewhere. The rat didn't care where they went, as long as he was with Carlos and they were uninjured.

It was probably safe to say that Adrian would not be particularly talkative tonight; he wasn't a talker anyway. Perhaps that was part of why Carlos always felt so off-balance around him. Not that chatting constantly is always a good thing but conversation can pass the time a little more comfortably. "Um... if you'd like to listen to music, the radio does work." The original radio facade, which had been restored with the rest of the car, was not just for looks. "Listen to whatever you want."
