((Sorry for the delay, ADD is a powerful force))
Akiko watched on as the others finished first. She, on the other hand, was left with a still-too-watery puddle of potentially hazardous material that simply refused to come together. She waited there and just kept stirring the concoction in front of her. She wanted to stop and try to add more in, but she had her reservations. What if she had the right mixture but just hadn't stirred it enough? If she suddenly tried to throw in more materials, it would throw off the recipe. But, what if she was just standing there all day, stirring up the wrong solution, even though it would never take form? She was paralyzed with indecision. In the end, she just stood there, still shifting the mixture around with the end of her spade, a blank look in her eye. She knew that she'd get it eventually, but she just couldn't tell when it would finally come to pass.

She stared at his eyes, orange into orange. It wasn't the first time, but it still struck her as something worth looking at without blinkin or letting her attention waver. Silly kid. Nadeshiko followed her clanmate, curiousity rollying off of her in waves. He seemed to be as socially awkward as her, and his face, with hair draped over half of it, did seem familiar, so Nadeshiko was a little more relaxed with this one. And of course, he was technically family. She was smoothing out the concrete with the shovel he had handed to her, with only part of her mind on it, the other half concentrated onto Rokugi. Nadeshiko wondered if his smiled was supposed to be reassuring, or simply because he was happy. Questions that were floating through the girls mind were much the same as the ones Rokugi had presently asked. " Yes. Nadeshiko, glad to meet you too.. I'm the only survivng child of the lead merchant in the caravan and a mercenary. My father was bent on making sure that I remained a surviving child. I would guess I have the Doujutsu, but I've only activated it once, and I don't know how to do it again. So how did you get here?" Nadeshiko's voice was, like Rokugi's, shy, but unlike his, lighter and quicker. She turned her concentrated gazing away from Rokugi and onto the foundation she was supposed to be spreading concrete on, and realized, with a gasp, that she had made it all lumpy and funny shaped. She quickly and repeatedly jabbed at it with her shovel to rememdiate the situation, but only made it worse.

((Could Akiko get some assistance, please? The DC's pretty hard to beat alone...))
Akiko sighed. This was certainly an exercise in patience. She wished she knew precisely what it should look like... she was flying blind through the mixing process. She couldn't quite envision how a lumpy puddle of matter could change into a solid foundation. All she could see was a viscous liquid that wasn't showing signs of changing any time soon. Perhaps, she thought, she didn't add enough of one ingredient or another. She looked back to the materials on hand and tried to assemble a few extra portions of the dry ones. She added them in slowly, taking care to fully incorporate them before adding more. She kept this up for a while without noticing much of a change... but the change was sneaking up on her. She suddenly noticed it was getting much, much harder to stir the substance. It seemed to be hardening right in the wheelbarrow! Panicking, she added water in, hoping that she could dilute it enough to slow the drying process.

The concrete settled in place just fine. Looking at it closely to check the level he turned towards his partner. " My father was a great shinobi, he trained himself to protect the caravan but the elders thought that his abbilities would only bring more trouble. I admired my dad and i want to know why exactly was he sent away. My mother and step father found out about this place and since i once had shown the sings of the Doujutsu they chose to send me to train here. I hope one day in finding my father, i know he can help me learn how to use these abilities and protect those around me." Rokugi spoke proud of his father, His mother and step father both had talked great things about his father. It was a weird case indeed how his mother had re married another man even so she spoke so highly of Rokugi's father and how his step father even agreed with it, so Rokugi could only understand that the man had indeed been a great person and whatever put them apart wasnt in bad terms, maybe that was the reason why it was so hard for Rokugi to accept the fact that some people would hurt others out of a pure whim. Walking over to Nadeshiko he approached the shove and with a free hand he signaled her " Try to hold the shovel as far each hand as possible, it helps for a better grip and your focus on the concrete wont be disturbed. Atleast it works for me" The boy smiled once again and headed on to grab some more concrete from the pile. THe area near the columns was the hardest to work with but he was sure they both could finish it in no time. "I was talking with a girl earlier who knew about my doujutsu by name and even knew the name of the clan's founder, perhaps she can help us learn how to use it."
+1 to Nadeshiko for Rokugi's advice

Nadeshiko took a deep breath and shifted her hands further apart, as Rokugi suggested. She did have a better grip on her shovel, but only slightly so. Never sucks more to have small hands than when you have to use a shovel. She scraped out the bits of spilled concrete. The noise made when the shovel dragged against the slowly hardening concrete and the bits of rock and other hard broken shards of objects was akin to that of an angry raccoon. With the bits of grey matter cleared up, the original markings showed again, and the area to be filled was half-empty. Nadeshiko continued her mission in spreading the concrete, this time more slowly and attentively. She kept her eyes peeled as she conversed with Rokugi. She was unsurprised that there were others who knew of the Rin'Egan and their doujutsu, perhaps even more than the Rin'Egan themselves. " So you don't know then. It is likely that she knows more than we do, but I have little faith that she will, or is able to, teach us."

"Here, honey. I'll help ya out," Yuki said as she rolled up her sleeves and put her hands on the same shovel that Akiko was using to mix the concrete. It can get tough if it isn't stirred enough" Yuki told the girl as she tried not to get anything on her hands and lab coat.

((Oh, thank God...))
The task was quickly getting tiring. Akiko had gotten to the point where she was simply working on auto-pilot; she just let her arms keep stirring while her mind drifted elsewhere. Her eyes narrowed to slits; she was hardly even looking at what she was doing. She kept thinking about her mother... she really couldn't help it, though. She had hardly gotten a chance to see her mother before she left, and she couldn't fight the feeling that she was somehow betraying her mother by staying here. It was impossible to articulate why. She thought she chose to stay because of her father, but if so, why was she staying now? Her father made it clear that she needed to live for herself. What did that mean? She couldn't say... after all, if she wasn't looking for her father anymore, then she didn't know what else she wanted. She supposed she'd have to just live life and see if there was anything that could motivate her. But then, there were all these tasks she was asked to do all day. Honestly, she didn't have a clue how she'd be able to motivate herself when she didn't even know what she wanted.
But... then she looked up. Her aunt was there, helping her with the mixture. Aunt Yuki seemed to be doing the best she could to ensure her niece's success. Akiko then knew she couldn't let her aunt down. At least for her sake, she'd have to go through the training and become a shinobi. Perhaps there were others, too, that would be able to look up to her. She didn't know what a shinobi was, but she knew that--at least for her--she'd be putting her life on the line to help others. It was a difficult job--perilous and exhausting, and perhaps even thankless--but as long as she held on to that, she'd make it. As this thought crossed her path, her eyes fell upon the mixture in front of her. It was... complete? She had become so concerned with her purpose in life that she had hardly even noticed that the mixture was coming together. Pulling the shovel out, she looked up to her aunt and smiled. "Thank you..." she said, speaking humbly but warmly.

{{Sorry about taking so long to post, been moving stuff all day every day for the past while.}}
Aranami grinned when the bolting was complete, as he wiped some sweat of his forehead. He looked at the sky, startled that it was already getting past noon. "Hmmm, let's see..." He said as he looked at the blueprints again. "I think we just keep going with straight pieces. Or... hmmm. I really can't make sense of these, so let's keep going with the straight pieces." He kinda shrugged a bit, not really sure if they were really supposed to use a straight piece or not. Remembering the one guys advice, he thought on how to start a conversation. "So, how is life and the school here?" Aranami asked as he went over to grab another straight piece. Grabbing the piece as he waited for her answer, the combination between his slippery hand and trying to pay attention to Akemi, it slipped and he dropped the piece right on his foot. Instantly biting his bottom lip to keep from making a noise, he then slowly moved the pipe off his foot. He grimaced a bit, not entirely cause of the pain, but also berating himself on the inside. "The longer we take here is less time learning combat skills you idiot." He angrily thought to himself.

While gathering again the concrete to take some to the spot he was missing, the boy lost himself in thought for a few moments. The girl was right about her opinion, there was no reason for them to be able to learn how to use their abilities from his friend but maybe just maybe they might learn something else or even get a clue. Rokugi sticked his shovel in the mixture and pulled up quite a sum of it " You might be right but if she knows about the clan she might give us a clue. Im sure theres something we can learn from her." He walked slowly towards his place with his face tilted towards Nadeshiko. As he walked a plank was dropped in the floor in front of him that he hadnt noticed and he tripped. In order to not hurt himself he had to let go of the shovel and place his hands in front of his face , thus spilling most of the concrete on the floor.

[if it wasn't for these last few helping points... we wouldn't be getting anywhere XD ]
Akemi did nothing more then scowl at the boy as she watched him fumble around with the peice of pipe that he was supposed to be bringing over... "We aren't getting anywhere... and the others need us to get moving so they can continue as well..." she mumbled quietly to herself. She was getting frustrated again, but she kept it to herself. The girl quickly took the leather band around her wrist and tugged her hair through it to tie it back. "I think we are moving in the right direction still, but we need to move a little quicker though..." she said to the boy as she looked again at the blueprints. They needed the stright peices to keep moving from the well towards the new complex...

"I'll wheel this over to Nadeshiko and Rokugi, darling. Why don't you take a minute to breathe and go help Aranami and Akemi with the pipes," Yuki told her niece as she carefully placed her hands on the handles of the wheel barrel before rolling it over to the marked foundation. "Here we go," Yuki warned Nadeshiko and Rokugi before she dumped a good portion of the concrete into another section of the foundation. "When you two are done, you might want to start thinking about how you'd like your apartment to be. Since you're of the same clan, you'll be rooming together.

Akiko nodded to her aunt, but she instead went straight to work. She wanted this project to be done soon so she could go somewhere quiet and relax. She sincerely doubted she'd be able to pull that off here. She approached the two girls that were working on it before. It certainly looked like they needed help; the cement was already drying and they haven't made much progress on the pipes. The boy looked out of his league; he was just putting whatever pieces he could find together, and he was fumbling around with them. He looked like he was physically inclined, but perhaps he wasn't that good with analysis. Akemi, of course, was certainly the same. She didn't have that great an idea about how to proceed, so she stood back for a good five minutes, just looking at the pieces and thinking to herself. She knew that, somehow, she had to get water to move up these pipes, but how? Water always went down when it had the chance. What about sewage? It had to travel in the opposite direction, but it couldn't use the same pipes as the clean water. Imagine waking up to a filth-shower! She looked back at the work they'd done so far and grimaced. Their current configuration was a jumble, and it would take a little while to figure out where the water would go if it were run through the pipes just like that. She grabbed a piece of pipe, but then she hesitated. The others had done a lot of work, for better or worse, and they both looked like they valued their pride highly. Yet, if she didn't do anything, the work they made so far would be set in stone. Akiko sighed softly... "Um, excuse me... could I try this? I think I see something that's not... umm... well, you see..." Her face incarnadine, she tried to squeak out her criticism in the face of these two strong people. "...well, it's not quite right... I can fix it?"
+2 to Akemi and Aranami

Rokugi went over to pick up what he hard ruined a moment ago and made sure he cleaned the best he could. It was impossible to recover all the concrete but at least he had gathered what he could. His frustration didnt diminish though. He had been doing good so far and just a moment ago he had ruined it just like that. Walking silently he kept on throwing concrete in the designated places and fixing what little mistakes he was doing. It all seemed as if he had just been thrown off balance by something and he couldnt tell what but there was something definitely bothering him beside the fact he had was ruining his work.

Keeping on the job slowly, the boy couldnt shake that uncertain feeling that something was wrong. He couldnt figure it out now so the best thing was to focus on other matters. Sensei had spoken of them being Roommates now after the remodeling and it made sense to him but how would they organize things? He figured he should speak with the girl about it. " Um.. Nadeshiko since we are rooming together i wanted to ask what would you like to have in the room." He picked up another shovel fuul of concrete and walked to the building site. His sleeves where unrolling themselves by now but they would surely hold on till he finished with this part atleast " I figured youd be best at decorating or making the place more comfortable. You seem like a person who likes to be comfortable" He smiled to himself in fact since he wasnt looking at the girl, simply because smiling always made him feel good , it seemed like a good way to express your enjoyment of any situation and even in hard labor he felt good that he was being useful and helping others.
